Hi All
First post so please bare with me.
I have been using Android Auto recently with my new car and though its great, one annoying feature. I use WhatsApp a lot. So much in fact, that I want to disable all notifications to show up when I have the phone plugged in. It won't stop popping up on the screen (Screen Head on car) and keep hearing a notification sound. I have put the phone in Do Not Disturb mode, disabled notifications from the App both Android Auto and WhatsApp, etc, etc. Nothing seems to work. Anyone else have this issue? I wanted to same with SMS and that I was able to silence the pop up and sound but WhatsApp proves to be difficult. Any help would be appreciated.
Android 7 on Nexus6P
I have the same issue. It is annoying as hell, I've reported the bug to Google, will update if I hear from them. I am on Galaxy Edge 7, Android 6.1.1

Hello guys!
I've finally my hands on a VW polo with android auto.
Yesterday I've done some testing with my stock rooted nexus 5.
I've gotten familiar with AA, understanding how to reply messages, but I don't know 2 things ( related )
1. how to "swipe off" message notification
2. how to stop ringing from WA .
I don't know if it's only my problem but after I receive a WA message ( I think it's with sms too ) the car keeps playing the notification alarm of the received message, no way to stop it, unless I plug off the cable from the phone.
It's VERY VERY annoying, someone has gotten the same problem?

Ha. That is interesting as I am having the exact opposite problem on my vw 2016 head unit. I get a visual notification of sms or hangouts message which pops up on the screen for a bit but no audible notification at all. I find this very annoying too as its not very safe to take your eyes off the road to scan the car's screen all the time to see if you have missed a message.

Sorry, but I forgot to tell that I managed to resolve my issue.
My cause of my problem was quite simple: On other notification ringtone I had a sound that was on call tone but NOT in that others notification tones ( titania if I recall correctly ) and this caused the loop.
I have to mark that I NEVER changed that tone and I even re flashed the phone.
Hope this helps in your case!
Same problem with WA and group messages [solved]
I had the same problem (ringing notification) with AA and WhatsApp group messages. After a lot of tests, I checked my WA notification option and It was silenced for group messages, them I changed it to a ringtone and the problem was gone, but now I have a ringtone every time a group message come. Another solution is to turn off group message notifications at AA config, it works well too.
Hi everyone! I'm new to Tasker.
I have just recently switched to Android from iPhone. I'm happy about everything, except for the do not disturb. With iOS, when Do Not Disturb was enabled, no calls or notifications were coming through, and it was super useful. DND on Android, on the other hand, only mutes sounds, which isn't good enough because Viber, Messanger, and Skype still overlay the whole screen when somebody calls you. This gets even more distracting when I run outside listening to audiobooks - they always get paused when there is an incoming call. I never had this problem with iOS.
This is precisely why I turned to Tasker but was only partially successful. After much tinkering, I managed to block these apps using Tasker's firewall. Well, all but Messenger, which I deleted out of frustration because they don't play it fair, so that's no longer an issue. I also blocked the calls by disabling the associated service when DND is on and turning it back on when DND is off.
However, blocking Viber and Skypes network isn't the most elegant way, because sometimes I want to use them even when on DND, but have all the benefits of DND if I no longer need them. This was all working great on iOS.
So as you can tell, I got it figured out to a degree, but still, wish I could get this iOS kind of Do Not Disturb the way I described. At this point, it only comes down to not letting those IM apps overlay my whole screen with their calls when I'm on DND, and consequently, interrupt my audiobook listening when.
Thanks guys!
I usually keep my phone on silent. Even so, when I get a WhatsApp message notification for example, the volume from Spotify temporarily decreases. This is quite annoying, and it's why I have the phone on silent in the first place.
Is this normal? I haven't tested it with other apps yet.
Thank you!
I have the same issue. Did you solve it or does anyone know how to do so?
I've set them active and they don't make any audible notifications vibrations, sometimes.
It's making me crazy.
Anyone else?
i've also noticed this. wasn't sure if it was just me. not sure if i should be glad someone else is having the issue. i'm not having the sound play or getting the vibration. wonder if it's sleeping too deeply or what.
after using it a few more days, i've noticed that there are also times when i get a vibration but no sound, even though i don't have it on silent.
I've been scouring the internet and have made a post on the Google Pixel Phone Help Forum. Perhaps people who're facing the same problem here can upvote it so we can get to the bottom of this?

So far, I've tried:
1. Booting in Safe Mode in case it was an app that was causing these problems (I was suspecting Blockda, the AdBlocker, but that wasn't it).
2. Going into the notifications menu and making sure each and every app had notifications enabled.
3. Toggling battery saver mode on and off.
When I turned on Notifications History, I saw that Push Notifications were being logged there, they just weren't making it to the status bar and aren't making sound for whatever reason.
Hmmm, interesting topic. I received my 4a 5G today and I noticed that I did not receive my Gmail notifications at all or delayed. Strange, haven't had such issues with any other phones.

Just updated to Andriod 12 / One UI 4 using the official OTA. No notifications vibrate. Facebook messenger, SMS, outlook, gmail. They make do make sounds if I turn on the sound notification setting. My connected Galaxy watch vibrates. The phone will not vibrate.
In my notification settings all the apps are allowed have sound and vibrate. But nothing will vibrate, they will only make sounds.
Everything was working without issue until I updated this morning. Any solutions?
Clear cache and data from each app that wont work.. had the same problem... had to do it per app..... now its working fine
Most irritating was my alarm not working haha just taught it was my fault but it was just software problem...
Hope it helps ya
Thanks. I ended up doing a factory reset. That resolved it.

It is a Android 12 bug. Unfortunately, Android has yet not fixed this bug and users are still experiencing the issue. However, some of the users have managed to fix the issue by following some of the basic fixes. You can find out those tricks here: Notification sound not working on Android
Try these solutions and if you are still unable to fix the problem, then wait for Android to release a new patch to resolve this sound issue.
