go back to initial phone setup? - T-Mobile Note 7 Questions & Answers

Does anyone know if there is a way to go back to the initial setup phase (from a fresh Note 7 version 2)....the T-mobile store guy was in a rush going through the setup really fast and ignored all the "diagnostics reporting and help improve blahblah" checkboxes during setup...I wanted to opt out of all that junk..
Is there way to do this without factory reset?

The only way I know of is to do the factory reset. Plus you'll probably be thankful you did. I always double wipe my phone before I start my initial setup.

[Q] Help! Galaxy S keeps crashing!

Hi I have a Galaxy S which is about 4 months old. Over the last two months (particularly in the morning) after charging through the night ~I pick it up only to discover a blank screen! The only way to get it going is to take the battery out and even then that doesn;t always work first time. It is happeneningpretty regularly now... can anyone help me... I dont know why this is happening.
Thanks.
Hi... If you are familiar with flashing stock/custom ROM then you can try different rom.
If no, try to do factory reset, and it will reset all applications and some data.
What is flashing rom? I'm keen to learn...
If I do factory reset do I loose all the apps I have bought and will I loose Gingerbread?
If you purchased it new, take it back to the store and get a replacement.
Otherwise you can try a different rom...

My Bionic has lost its marbles

Okey dokey, my phone is making my brain hurt. three days ago, my phone was going haywire. I was rooted with UNL3ASH3D 1.4 and RedNinja theme, working well. All of a sudden everything Force Closes. I was getting so many FC's I could put the FCC out of business. When I would unlock my screen, my launcher wouldn't load and the only thing I could do is get Advanced Task Killer to open from the Status Bar. Everything kept popping up Force Closing, Android system, google framework, Moto services. So I decided to FXZ back to stock. While it was on step 14/15 I decided to let it run its course and I stepped outside. Windows decides to restart itself in the middle of re-programming and drained my battery dead so I couldn't fix it. Last night I went and bought the battery dock + extra battery from the VZW store. Charged up the battery all the way, popped that baby in my Bionic and FXZ'd my way to glory. Or I thought so at least. My phone gets done, reboots, and even loads up my old wallpaper so it had to have some kind of connection or something. You know, you can see the wallpaper from the lock screen. Ok remember, my phone is fully back to Factory Settings now. I unlock the screen and what happens? FC FC FC FC FC FC. Everything starts Force Closing again. So someone tell me, would I be right in assuming this is a problem with the phone? Do you guys think I would be able to turn it in and file a warranty claim? Am I just the devil himself to all Android phones? I don't know. I'm starting to think that maybe I should buy a prepaid Net10 phone with a graphics processor from the 80s.

after the FXZ did you do a factory reset or did you just reboot?
Just reboot. That's what I've always done, I've FXZ'd it three times. I don't even know how to do a factory reset after I FXZ it.

I would probably do the FXZ one more time and if the problem persists, then I think you know it's a hardware issue - warranty at that point.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Do a fxz and then boot into recovery and do a factory reset. Then report back! good luck!
Fyi a fxz doesn't wipe data like previous sbfs from Droid x and other moto phones

Yeah, task killers are the devil for root users.
Yeah I usually have ATK disabled, but last time I did my Titanium Restore I forgot that it was in one of my profiles, I was doing some mods/tweaks to some apps and that was in my tweaker profile. But anyways on to the issue at hand, I did go into recovery and do a factory reset and it fixed it. I didn't FXZ again, I figured if a factory reset should do the trick, and it did since I had already FXZd.

I would just like to commend you for not immediately going to Verizon for a warranty replacement. It is people who replace before researching the cause of their problems that cause us to be presented with these phones with locked bootloaders. So, again, kudos on asking questions and figuring it out without replacing the phone. If only everyone would follow suit.

I can't stand not being able to fix something that is broken, especially when i broke it and even more so when its an Android device. People who take the easy way out just show me that they don't like to learn. ever since my Eris i have been trying to fit in time to learning more about Android, programming and software development. Warranty replacement would void my commitment to learning. So thanks for the kudos bro. Just wish that more people got enjoyment from learning.

Brand new Nexus 6 stuck in optimizing apps loop

Hey all, I recently got my nexus 6, and out of the box it worked fine. I started trying it out, and realized things were crashing quite often, like google play, and gmail. Then it prompted me to install the Android 5.1 update, which is when all this started.
Upon finishing the upgrade my nexus 6 cannot get past the Optimizing Apps screen, as soon as it gets onto the "Starting Apps" state, it will simply crash, and start over, booting again. This has been very frustrating since I just got this device and want to enjoy it. I have not rooted it, I have not tampered with it and the bootloader is locked. I tried cleaning the cache partition but that didn't help. So is anyone else experiencing this with their nexus 6? I really need a way to fix this, and if I have to flash the stock image onto it, then I will. But since the bootloader is locked is that even possible?
Please help me, I don't want to send it back in and wait another eternity.
Yes it's possible. However. Try a factory reset from recovery first.

I've done that a zillion times. It's not working, my phone refuses to get past the "Android starting..." screen. So if you could walk me through how to flash, since I couldn't find a guide online.
I called google support, and they want to replace it. So I'm gonna do exactly that.
I'm now on my third phone from google and they all do this. easily the worst customer service experience I've ever had in my entire life.

third? that makes it seem as you are the one thats not doing something right. just saying. one, ok, it happens. two, chances are very slim, but it can happen, mist likely wont. three, you are doung something wrong. if you factory reset, then it boots without android is upgrading. when you add apps, change apps, or change things in your system, or wipe dalvik, then android is upgrading happens.

DEFINATELY operator error...
they don't "all do this", otherwise the THOUSANDS of us here on XDA who flash things constantly without issue every day would be experiencing the same thing..

Google sync

I have a question I haven't been asked before. If you take a non rooted phone and do a factory reset will Google sync all the apps back on to the phone?

If you sign in during initial setup it will; if you skip sign in on initial setup, it won't (as I remember it). The only issue that I've always run into is that it would reinstall the apps, but not the data. So, if you were on Level X of a game, you'd have to start over. I'm not sure if it's still that way though.

It is I believe because I remember when I first switched to this phone I was upset that one of my games went all the way back to the beginning all my previous data lost.

Buttons not working

Hello guys!
Unfortunately my Nexus 5X stopped working yesterday so i'll now use my friends Moto G2 LTE until my replacement Nexus arrives. She used it until 5 month ago and at the end she was very unhappy because after the lastest update (it was a big uptate, i don't remember if it was 4-->5 or 5-->6) the home key didn't work anymore. We never tried a reset because her new phone was already on the way.
So i thought that I'm gonna do a simple factory reset (in recovery or on Android??) and i hope that I'll be able to use it so.
Will it work or do you have any other tips for me?
Thanks!
Alexander
Hey, Alexander,
You could try a few tricks before doing a factory reset:
- install a different launcher from the Google Store, set it as default, then switch back to the stock one;
- add a new user as a guest, then switch back to owner and see what happens.
Depending on the phone having root or not and on your Jedi skills, you could also try running some commands through ADB.
Never had this problem myself, but now I hear it's not that rare and the factory reset does NOT always guarantee an end to this particular pain - prolly a glitch in your update pack.
