Phone Locked - Sprint LG G4

So its been a while since I have used my LG G4 and last time I used it, I did a complete wipe. Now that I went through the setup wizard, after putting up Wi-Fi, it asks for the PIN. Why would it need a PIN if it is reset. I got the issue removed by going back into the setup wizard and turning Wi-Fi off. Ok I used the phone like normal and even did the system update by turning Wi-Fi on again. Now that Android is updated, the lock screen shows up and it requests a PIN. I used my old PIN which has been the same since my G2 all the way to my G5. I don't mind having to do a complete wipe as I stated before that I did a complete wipe before turning on the device. Since last time I have used custom ROMs and such my computer crashed so I do not have the SDK on the PC. Could anyone please help and maybe answer why my phone requires a PIN even though it was just reset? Thanks in advance.

could be something to do with factory reset protection or encrypted device

Strange Problem, I need some help please

Hello everyone,I have the Vanilla ROM. 1.4 I believe, what has happened is that I had a friend look at my blue angle because he was considering getting one himself, he went to my Mobile Shell application from SPB, activated the portrait view (took time to load and he did not know that) so he decided to press is like a lot!!
So it tried to do landscape/portrait mode a lot! so we rebooted the thing. Then another problem came that the phone locked itself, and when trying to unlock the phone nothing worked, (press the "*" again to unlock the phone) that did not work at all.
After spending a lot of time I fixed that, then the screen alignment/navigating with the D-Pad was all screwed up, I managed to get to the screen alignment program and fixed that. Now I have this serious problem.
The phone cannot connect to my service provider (Cingular). And here is the funny part... Hard Reset does not at all!! very strange. Using a backup file I had useing SPB backup that also did not work.
(also I tried draining the backup battery and that did not work as well, guess the volatile memory thing in WM5 worked).
Please someone help me in this problem as I cannot use my phone! :'(
Fixed
Sorry about the post, I have fixed it by doing
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1164331
worked perfectly, reset the phone easily and now restoreing with a backup.
But if anyone can please tell me why Power/Reset did not do a hard reboot?
Hard reset is not enough
I've flushed my phone about 50 times during last two weeks.
I think, that there are some cases, that same data or state of "things" can survive flashing and hard reset. At least using helmi_c or my ROM.
Simply test: flash any helmi rom, turn on wifi and/or set button lock to wake up only using power button and perform hard reset. State of lock button is not changed, wifi tries to connect to any access point. Even reflashing with the same rom is not enough.
I'm guessing only: I think, that there is small bug - reset procedure checks validity of any particular block (or blocks) of data and skips initialization of same data it if is looks valid.
Maybe you have got the same.

[Q] Wifi stuck "Turning on"

Tried searching around and have seen others with this issue but nothing has worked. Tried a clean flash of a rom and during the setup wizard its still broken.
I have pretty much done everything but done a clean flash of stock and i am gearing up to do that but i dont have high hopes.
are you using a custom kernel?

Nope...
its not that i just cant connect, its like the hardware is broken.
and just did a complete factory image flash.
still broken
I had this happen to my N6 last week. It started after running the battery completely flat so the green LED lit when I charged it. The fix having repeatedly wiping seemed to be draining battery completely again until the green LED lit when I charged it. It has worked fine ever since.

First contacted square trade as that is my insurance, they said contact Moto because it is still under warranty. Did that, Moto said they would replace it. I said i don't want to go without a phone and they said they can charge me 25 and put a 500 hold on my account but they would send the phone first. Said OK phone arrives on Tuesday.
Just as an FYI they did basically say did you factory reset it.... but that is all the trouble shooting.
If anyone is interested in my symptom. Wifi is just always stuck at "turning on" every once in a while it will be off. but when you try to turn it on it just gets stuck again.
When it is stuck you can not turn it off.

Might be worth an RMA. see my previous post.
Don't know if I'm a little too late to this post... .But it happened to my Nexus 6 too, tried everything, wipe cache, factory reset, root, delete /persist/wifi but nothing worked....
However, luck seems to be on my side when I went into Google Connectivity Services under Setting--> Apps... and wipe its cache and tried to disable it (but stopped before I did). Then reboot the phone once i wiped all the data from the Google Connectivity Services Apps and VIOLA! It's working now!
*EDIT... It worked for about an hour (allowing me to dl all the apps) but now it has failed again....
I have the same issue as soon and I unlock the bootloader
any ideas? Im going to root again the device and load a different to see if it makes any difference
I am experiencing this as well. Was working fine yesterday and when I tried to go to Android M Preview 3 this happened. Whats worse is that this is happening right after I switched from Unlimited Data on TMo to Project Fi with 3GB. Making this even more frustrating is that Project Fi support says the preview images are now compatible with Project Fi. Isn't that something they should be telling people up front?!
I'm having the same issue on marshmalow, it suddenly started to happen some weeks ago.
First times was solved with phone reboot.
Then was required to clean cache before restart
Now I've tried reclutance suggestion (delete data from google connectivity services and reboot but the problem persist?
I'm using 6.0.1 stock rom without root
I don't want to perform a factory reset
Any suggestion?
here too...close the wifi
All tried doesn't work,
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache (via fastboot as I do not have a custom recovery neither unlocked the boot or root, my phone is completely original)
Also tried to delete wifi data
Any suggestion?
RMA
I'm continuing to have issues with my Motorola Nexus 6 phone.
It is running stock android 6.0.1
I never unlocked it or rooted (Sadly cause If i do so I were able to backup my apps and settings with titanium backup and restore it before a full device reset )
The problem started some weeks ago.
First symptom was that i was unable to enter on Settings -> Data usage (Every time receives an "unfortunately, settings has stopped" message)
Then some days have difficult to connect to wifi or disconnect (at that moment I didn't investigate the issue, just retry considering the issue was on router side)
After some time I realize that the problem was on the phone, specially cause it started to stuck turning on wifi, but for some days just turning off phone and turning it on again solves the issue.
With the time it becomes more and more frequent and turning it off and on didn't solve anything so I've reboot into recovery mode and perform a clear cache but it doesn't solve the issue.
Looking here and at other forums found that this issue is really common and some people solves it trough ADB with "adb shell pm clear com.android.settings" I've tried it but it didn't solve anything.
Even when many people didn't solve it with a factory reset I want to try it, but I need to be able to backup one app data (If could backup everything will be the best but at least need to backup blockchain app (Also have an issue with them as provider and couldn't log in from another device or website, just this device has a session already approved and open)
Any suggestion?
I've upgraded/downloaded to almost any possible rom and the problem is still here
Looking on forums found that is a very common issue since marshmallow in many devices (Specially Nexus)
Most people couldn't fix it but some could.
the problem is with devices macaddress that shown 02:00:00:00:00:00 and get stuck turning on
there are solutions in forums that seems to be a little bizarre like drain battery to 0 and full recharge (This one works for me once)
,others like deleting Google connectivity services cache, or deleting /persist/wifi folder completely
But I found one for nexus 5 who replaces the full /persist partition with a dump and edit the files and permissions with macaddress information.
This seems to have logic and provides an explanation about why the problem persist after, factory reset or rom changing so I want to try it in nexus 6.
Could someone provide me a dump of it?
There is an app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...nam.partitions, that makes the process of making a partition backup easy. The persist partition is on /dev/block/mmcblk0p26
Thanks in advance
Did you solve your problem? Because I have the same. Did you try to change Mac address on device?

Phone starts with moving halo and "wissen"... "Is it wiping my phone?"

Phone starts with moving halo and "wissen"... "Is it wiping my phone?"
Just now I took my Nexus 6 out of my pocket because it was very warm.
The screen was all black with in the middle a big Halo moving with the disturbing message "wissen" beneath it.
"wissen" is Dutch for wiping, deleting or removing...
Turning the phone off is possible by holding down the power button for 6 seconds, but then it turns on again after 3 seconds showing that same screen again.
After some fiddling I was able to find a method to turn it off.
I can start the phone by holding down the power button and the volume button (down) which will start the recovery program.
There I can turn it off.
Although I have unlocked the phone and ran modded firmwares I switched to standard factory Nexus 2 years ago and haven't had a rooted phone for all that time.
Recently I installed the 7.1 OTA updated.
I'm afraid this is something like a remote wipe.
It also doesn't ask me to give my PIN which is normal for it to do.
What is happening?
Some more info: Yesterday I bought the "AIO All-in-one Toolbox " after using the free one for 3 weeks. Could that be involved?
It may be formatting and encrypting your data partition.
Yes, but why?
It just went into my pocket this morning....
I came one step further.
As I was still able to get it into fastboot loader I exited with "volume up"
Then it went into an almost normal boot. This didn't require the pin it normally needed.
The device went into a full factory reset.
I thought I would be up and running fast, but after entering my new gmail account/password I got the message that I needed to wait another 24 hours because I did a password reset.
I did this password reset of my Google account out of safety. Now I'm being punished for this....
Luckily I have a spare Motorola G3 with its own SIM, so I can at least use my phone.
I can't even use my Nexus as a phone nor can I go to settings. Maybe if use another Google-account.
Did some more research...
The last Exchange sync was while cycling to work.
Didn't use the phone then nor later.
Because my Google-account is locked I can't do anything with my Phone (not even phone), so I decided to flash an alternate rom on it.
I flashed lineagos and also rooted the device again.
Although I did root my Nexus 6 in the beginning this is the first custom ROM I have on it. I still need to install gapps.
Now I can start using my Titaniumbackup again that I bought several years ago.
I still have no idea how it could have gone into wiping. I put the phone in my pocket while it was screenlocked. The device needs a pincode to unlock.....
I am still unable to use Google Apps. I can run the app, but it doesn't let me install apps.
On the stock rom I was just stuck (stuck rom, haha)..... at the installation screen unable to even make a phone call....
Does someone have any idea???

My idea is that you have the N6 unprotected in your pocket. Moving or cycling caused activation of a factory reset.

Password Recovery

I bought a new G6 (unlocked) for my sister, who lives in another state. She activated the new phone last night (Mint Mobile). When she got to the screen asking for entry of a password to protect against unauthorized use she entered a complex password (she didn't know she could just skip that screen). She wrote the password down, but now she can't find it. I called her this morning and she was able to use the fingerprint scanner to open the phone enough to answer my call, but she can't get to her apps.
I am aware that this sounds a little "fishy", but I didn't know where else to turn. Is there any way to reset or remove that password? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks, Jerry

She can boot to recovery and reset the whole phone, the only option if bootloader is locked.
Got to wipe the phone and start over. tell her to make sure next time it's a simple password because she's going to have to use it every time to unlock the device if she has a screen lock set to password. even if it's set to fingerprint you have to enter the password anytime you reboot the device to unlock it the first time.
It's there to prevent unauthorized use so no there's no way around it. Except for factory resetting. even then make sure she logs in with the same Google account because she probably enabled factory reset protection as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. I walked her through the factory reset procedure, but when she tried to set up the phone and entered her Google credentials the phone said "searching" and wouldn't go past that screen. She finally called Motorola and they said if I could send proof of purchase she could forward it to them and, if approved, they will ask her to send them the phone and they will send her another new phone. She is still waiting,

That's a bummer. They should send another one though. It's covered since you didn't unlock the bootloader.

Unlocking Xz1 Compact after i forgot the unlock-pattern

Hi All,
This is probably the most stupid thing that i have done yet. I demonstarted to my son how to change the unlock-pattern on my phone, and forgot to put back my old pattern. Now the phone asks to verify my pattern even if i am normally using my fingerprints.
Now i wonder what i could do to unlock my phone. Can't use ADB, because i need to authenticate it forst from the phone.
What would happen if i re-installed the stock firmware again? Would that reset my pattern? Any ideas are welcome
Wow.. I figured out my pattern, so no need to reset my phone Next time i will write down my new pattern and save it in my keepass-passwordmanager (that again syncs the db-file to dropbox
