Pull down screen stopped working - T-Mobile Note 7 Questions & Answers

Twice in about a week's time this has happened: I'll go to swipe down to get to that window showing settings, quick view icons etc. I'll swipe and nothing happens, almost as if it's not a feature. I restart the phone and then it's fine

What launcher are you using?

[Q] One click to launch Quick Toggles in HTC One running 4.2.2 ?

I have just updated to 4.2.2 in my HTC One. I found the Quick Settings is very useful when I am going to toggle settings like WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE, Air Plane mode etc.
But it is very stupid to use 2-fingers pulling down the Quick Toggles directly, especially I am using my phone with one hand only. Pull the the Notification Bar and then press the button upper right to launch the Quick Settings is also slow and inconvenience.
I know Nova Launcher has got a shortcut to pop up the Quick Settings instantly, but I really want to have the original Sense Launcher. Is that any app or widget can launch the Quick Toggles page as a shortcut???
P.S. My phone has not yet rooted... I hope for a non-rooted solution.
I'm actually curious about this as well. I don't have 4.2.2 yet, but from what I've seen, I don't think that I'll like having to either use 2 fingers or pull down the menu and select the secondary menu. I'm currently using the Quick Toggles app from Google Play, and it does the job, but it would be great to just use the stock feature.

Nav bar problems

Am I the only one having problems with the Nav bar when the keyboard is on? Like if I am on a screen to type and I want to back out and I swipe up for the nav bar but my keyboard comes up? So I have to hit it a couple of times.

I think it's because I moved the back button to the left maybe.

Nope that's not it I changed it back. Guess I am just going to have to get use to swiping up further down to get the nav bar to come up.

No issues here. Tmobile variant in case that matters

I think it's just me not swiping far enough towards the bottom of the phone.

I noticed this too - and it wasn't like that on my S8+
I think the time the nav bar remains after pressing the back button is too short, causing problems in apps that have buttons at the bottom like Facebook (damn gif button!), Messages, Relay Pro, etc
Wasn't like that on the S8+ because the nav bar hung there for a half second longer allowing me to back out all the way before disappearing.
I was going to make a thread about this, but you beat me to it. Rather annoying honestly

Damn I thought i was the only one. Hope they do something about it.
I'm having issues too. Especially in BlueMail where the delete email button is right where you hard press for home. The hard press always goes home... but simultaneously deletes the email I was reading. Was getting so confused when I couldn't find emails I was sure I'd read!
If the nav bar is locked open its fine as its squishes the screen up, but its tedious constatly locking and unlocking it. A feature to lock the nav bar on a per app basis would be awesome!

How to ungroup notifications to fill the whole notification bar?

Hi,
My notifications are not filling the entire notifications bar. Just three icons and then three dots for the rest.
As if I would have a notch but I'm not.
Before factory reset it was ok. Any ideas how to fix that?View attachment 4608206

I think this should fix it: In Settings, go to Display>Status Bar, and the first item there is “Show recent notifications.” If that’s turned on, you get what you’re describing. Try turning it off and I think that will fix your issue. Hope that works!

Thanks! It should help.
Now I need to wait for notifications

News apps not on home screen

I've had the option attached enabled. But notice none of my new apps that I install are showing on my home screen. I'm not using any launcher's. I've also got add apps to home screen enabled.
Cheers

Question Regarding Landscape Mode

Is there a setting that locks the home screens to portrait but still allows the apps to rotate to landscape?
I don't believe there is anything in Android settings, but you could use a 3rd party rotation control app like Ultimate Rotation Control. Set it up so OneUI Home or whatever home launcher you're using is forced into Portrait mode

Try Settings -> Display -> Home screen
You should then have an option to rotate Home screen to landscape or not.
I hope that helps!View attachment 4916397

I didn't even notice that setting, probably because I've been using Nova Launcher forever. That setting gets blacked out when using other launchers. Thanks for clarifying.

Since Samsung UI has come of age I don't use Nova anymore ... and UI is getting better with each update! It does all that Nova did when I last used it.
