For the first time I tried to use the Developer Option that changes the function of the USB port to something other than charging. I wanted to set it to MTP so I could try out Kousch's Vysor program (sp?). The window with the different options pops up and choose one, but it didn't seem to stick. I later discovered that I had to quit out of developer options and open it again to see the change. Regardless, since I fiddled around with those settings, I can no longer charge my nook with Developer Options active. I panicked when I first discovered this, and I tried charging while in TWRP, but that only got me to 50% - probably TWRP went to sleep and stopped the charging progress. Then I tried turning off Developer Options, and what do you know, the Nook charged up just fine! So now I am forced to turn off Developer Options, charge up, and then turn them back on afterwards - having to reset each of my favorite options to boot.
Anyone else having this problem? Know a solution other than reinstalling the ROM and crossing my fingers?

Hi,
my display is always on while plugged in to the usb cable. It doesn't matter if it is charging or fully charged if the display is going on while plugged in it won't go off. it doesn't even lock itself.
i only can use the power button to shut it off.
so it happened that it was on the whole night because i had it plugged in and got an sms in the night.
has anyone a solution for that?
regards
I hoped that someone knows the option to enable or disable to shut off the display while plugged in...
no one?
If I remember correctly, there used to be an option in settings>applications>development, something called "keep screen on when plugged in" or something like that.
There definitely is the option somewhere, but I can't seem to find it in JVB (maybe it's only in earlier froyo roms?)
I would back up your data and factory reset if you cannot find any settings .
Display goes off when connected to USB at what i have set display timeout to .
In Display settings .

That feature was available in Froyo 2.2 only. Not present in 2.2.1 and above.
Settings -> Applications -> Developement -> Keep screen on (while charging AC/USB).

Thank's allot.
I have the 2.2 version and found the option. I turned it off and will be happily ever after.
Kind regards...
Yesterday, I briefly pressed the power button and kept my tab in a zip case for half a day; and when I pulled it out, the case was so warm, and I can't switch on. So I have to switched it off and on again. The reason why it was so warm inside the zip case was the GPS was still on and working at all time.
The strange things after switching it on are:
1. my unlock pattern has gone
2. the usb mass storage setting reverts to Kies
3. pressing Home and Search button do nothing
4. SmartKeyboardPro default reverts to Samsung keyboard default.
Last night I tried switch on and off several times, and it did not solve the above problem.
This morning when I plug my USB cable and notice that it asks for Kies drivers, I then set it back to USB mass storage and re-plug my usb cable again. Suddenly, the Home and Search buttons are now working again.
I have to set the unlock pattern and set the Smart keyboard pro as default again.
Now my Galaxy Tab wifi version works as normal again, but I still don't know what has caused the above problem.
Just like the title says. I was in a car accident a few days ago and my phone got thrown around and the amoled is cracked. I turned off the option to turn on usb debugging when connected and now I need to find a way to get it turned on so that I can control my phone through the pc. Any ideas?
You'll need to navigate by going with where it is approximately on the screen. Then to verify that it's connected just adb devices if nothing returns try it again. Here are some pics to show you where to press on the screen (red arrows show where).
NOTE: this starts at the settings screen to get there just press menu then the bottom right corner.
Thank you for the screens. I guess I should have mentioned that I'm running CM7, so I might have a little trouble with the first step, adjusting for the extra cm settings and adw settings. Thanks again.
here's the Settings for ADW EX.
hopefully its in the same spot.
So, my phone seems to have commited seppuku.
I'd modded it with CM 12.1 and a couple of Xposed modules, and it has been working flawlessly until this afternoon.
After coming back from lunch, I pickup my phone to check on notifications, but the screen seems unresponsive, no matter what I'd do, it would stay black. I tried mashing the power button, volume, nothing. At all.
So I forced a reboot by holding the power button for 10 seconds or so, and it just wouldn't go past the bootloader warning, I tried rebooting several times already and even tried going into TWRP recovery, but it would just get stuck loading, never showing the interface..
So then, after a while googling, i found this thread and I got back to stock Lollipop 5.0.2. But now the problem is that the phone refuses to use my SIM cards, it detected both of them and named the first one.
I've got no phone service, no data service, nothing at all. The weird thing is that when I try to make a phone call it tells me that I must disable airplane mode before doing so (which I obviously have disabled, no reason for me to enable it). I tried enabling airplane mode, disabling it again, enabling it then rebooting, then disabling it... nothing has worked so far. I've dug into the the phone settings as well without success.
I don't know what to do, I'm out of options... Someone please help me
The phone "USB Debugging" not working properly after every reboot. The "USB Debugging" button still "ON" but it only charge the phone when connect to the pc without open a windows with internal storage shown. I have to manually turn the "USB Debugging" OFF and back ON and wait for that 10s warning to make it work again or change the Default USB configuration from "File Transfer" to something else to wake that feature up.
Is that a known bug or hardware related issue ?? Thanks
Well, I use linux (and other phones/tablets) but I usually run into one of these problems:
set the USB-mode of the phone correctly, not just charging ("circle with dot" or similar should show in top bar)
the phone must know the fingerprint of the computer (phone should notify you, so accept and store)
reboot phone after applying such changes (really, I wasted hours on this one, only to realize that only and nothing but a reboot would fix that)
Sometimes even all of them together (but perhaps it really is something specific to your phone)

I will do fastboot flash once the phone bootloader is available for unlock after 168h to see if that fix the problem. Finger cross.
