Hi,
I have a 2013 Moto X -- best phone I have owned in a long time after Motorola Razr
All of a sudden after using bluetooth in my car, the earphone has stopped working(may be a coincidence). No sound coming out of that - either phone calls or google voice. I have to put in headphones or use the speaker phone.
I have turned off Sound Equalizer, made sure bluetooth is off, turned off Nu player in Developer options, did a cache wipe and obviously rebooted multiple times - to No avail. The last one remaining is factory reset but that's a pain to setup everything again.
Anybody have any ideas/suggestions that I can try ? It's almost 3 years so I know it's old( well-- my dad's Nokia 3310 lasted him more than 8 years so that's saying something about today's phones). I am not quite ready to upgrade to s7 edge and s8 edge is not out yet.. Need to get some more juice out this phone...
All suggestion/ideas welcome :good:
I have the same issue.
I tough it was a hardware issue and replaced the earspeaker and the flex from another moto x that was working but nothing.
What software do you have?
I had 4.4.4 and made the 5.1 upgrade and it worked.

So my note II got stolen recently and i switched back to my GS. On the note my aJays worked perfectly, but i pluggedd them into my GS, and i noticed at once that the sound quality was VERY bad. So i found out after a while that while held the headset button down(the pause/unpause/answer call button) on the aJays, the sound quality would go back to normal. The headset works normally on my Windows PC.
I hove no idea what to do, and couldn't find anything like it on XDA or any other site. Other headphones work fine on the GS, but i dont have any other headsets with button(s) to check if the phone just misreads all buttons. I have only used two ROMs since i started using the GS again, both CM-based, and it occurred on both.
Any suggestions are welcome!
I bought a couple of somewhat expensive ($130) in-ear plugs with a remote on the cable, just to find out that the only button that works on the remote is the center one (the usual 1 click pause, 2 click next, 3 click previous). The 2 volume (+ and -) buttons don't work.
It is a pair of "Supra Nitro In-ear" (they actually come with a switch on the back to switch between iOS remote and Android/Windows Phone remote).
The thing is when I went to the store the guy there tried them on his vanilla Nexus 5 and they worked perfectly. When I got home I tried them on my brothers HTC One (not m8) and they worked (although the buttons did not change the volume on his phone, but changed tracks).
Why won't they work on my Moto X XT1053 (T-Mobile)? Usually I am running a custom ROM, atm Krypton 1.31, but I thought that maybe the problem is in the custom kernel so I tried flashing the stock kernel, but they still didn't work. I also tried the faux one with no change.
I don't have the possibility to flash total stock ROM (because I ain't got no room for a full Nandroid backup, d'oh), but would that be the solution?
Has anyone got a 3-button headset to work with the Moto X?
Any help is appreciated!
The only wired headset I have is from an iPhone and the volume buttons do not work. However, I have Jabra Sport+ Bluetooth headphones and the volume does work on those.
I believe no word 3 button headset will work with the moto x unfortunately.
Bluebuds Bluetooth ones work with 3 buttons. They are spendy but worth it. Made for Olympic athletes they are sweat water proof, great comfort, and battery, and range. Very high quality.
See if this works for you. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.jays.headsetcontrol

Hi all, Someone have this problem?
I'm facing this 'no sound in call, only speaker call/earphone works' issue.
Even for media playback there is no sound in loudspeaker mode(Mx player, Youtube app,radio..) but earphones work.
So I'm trying to factory reset it won't work.
Thanks in advance for any help / advice you can off!

Wow, l am Nexus 5 owner and I have exactly the same fault. No fix as yet on the nexus. Was thinking about the moto x and came to check what issues the phone has. I suspect this is a universal android bug. I have done some googling and found at least half a dozen phones with this issue. It's like a virus.
Sometimes this can be caused by a defective headphone plug, tricking the phone into thinking something is plugged in when it's not.
I've had my phone since January 2005 and I've been using the Bose in-ear earbuds since they came out.
My current ones are starting to show signs of wear (cable starting breaking down near one of the buds) and thus I was seeing on replacing them and keeping with Bose, since I really like the sound and the design of these earbuds. So I passed by the Bose shop and bought the Bose Soundtrue earbuds, designed for Samsung and Android phones, that come with a line in remote.
However, when I tested them out, the remote was not working. Pressing vol+ was restarting the song that was playing, and the same when the play/pause button was being pushed. The vol- did nothing. I tried using a third-party app to make it work (Headset Control Center from Degauss Lab) but to no avail, it did not. And to make it worse, the Bose Rep tried to call me on my phone and I could not even pick up the call with the button (middle one). In the end I returned my purchase.
So I'm bummed out. I have no clue what to do. I really like Bose and would like to stay with them. But if I really cannot get their earbuds to work... not sure if I will.
Anyone have any idea what I could do to make it work?
Or alternatively, are there similar earbuds (sound and design-wise) that would actually work with the Motorola G from 2014? I really abhor full in-ear earbuds for the closed out feeling I get when wearing them and the fact I'm less aware of my surroundings. I bike a lot in Brussels and I want to be able to hear what goes on around me (to do anything else is suicidal).
thanks in advance for your replies.
Bump. Is there really no-one around who can help?
Hey there,
I was using the same headphones from Bose since a year or so now on both Xperia Z and Z1C.
In mid August, the remote - which was working perfectly - stopped working.
I called the after sale services, thinking the something was wrong with the headphones...
They changed them to brand new ones that I received today. They don't work anymore.
Something happened between nov. 2014 and aug. 2015 ( my guess is lollipop - but I'm not even sure), and I can't use the earplugs the way thety were properly working before (play, pause, vol up / down - double click for skip...
This is a bummer.
I have a similar problem with Lollipop on my HTC One E8, with a single button wired headset: after the upgrade to Lollipop, the single-button control via my wired headset no longer works.
It never worked right without using the Degauss Headset Control Center, but before lollipop, using Degauss I could control it.
But since Lollipop, a single click results in multiple clicks - one, two, three, four even five clicks!
Even though I setup the Degauss app to map all those to play/pause, it sometimes it still skips to the next or previous track, and sometime it won't pause or resume.
I've been looking high and low for a solution, or others hitting the same problem(s).
I did not find a solution yet.
I gone and bought the Bose Sountrue anyways as I really like the sound and the way the earbuds fit in my ear. The mic works fine when I call and receive a call (I have to accept it from the phone as the buttons do not work). I do think it is a hardware problem of the Moto G so most likely will change to a compatible phone in the future.
Hi
I purchased some Trendwoo Bluetooth headphones recently and I've just started having issues with them on my Moto X where the volume level of has gone really quiet. I've tried going into sound settings and making sure all levels are up full and have also tried disconnecting my Moto 360 watch in case it was causing some sort of issue, but nothing makes any difference. I know its an issue with the phone as the headphones work fine on my Samsung Tab S. I've also tried switching the phone from WiFi to 4G in case this was interfering with the Bluetooth connection, but again no joy.
If anyone has any ideas its much appreciated!
Fixed it. In the end just forgot and repaired the headphones and the volume went back to normal. Should always remember first thing to try is turning it off and on again!
