I'm interested in installing a pumpkin audio unit in my jeep for the primary purpose of audio, but secondarily triggering accessory relays for lights and other accessories. So far my search skills have not found anyone who has accomplished this with a head unit. I suspect there aren't any hard wire outs that can be utilized for this purpose, but thought maybe via wifi or bluetooth. Anyone heard of someone pulling this off?
From your post assume you want to supply other accessories when HU is powered on? Use sub output or antenna output to trigger 12v relay for this purpose.

well not looking to actually power the accessories, but just trigger a 12v relay to run high voltage accessories. lightbars, winches, rock lights etc. ideally an app that gets installed on the unit which can communicate to a relay board.. either through wifi or bluetooth or a direct wire or usb cable out the back of the unit.
You would have to find some sort of usb switch that has an android app.
Could be something completely unrelated to what you are doing as long as it triggers a ground or positive. Unfortunately i dont think any of these units have programmable switched outputs

Such a board exists Im a new poster so can't do hot link, But such a bluetooth relay board exists on amazon for about 20 bucks. Its really a question now if the headunit can install this app and communicate correctly with the board

Hello,
I'm new and have read a lot about de HD2 witch i have.
Just normal rom with some extra programs.
I'm looking (maybe manny other people) for a female ipod adapter to (micro/mini) usb. There are a lot of (music)docking stations for the ipod but nothing with a micro usb connection. so with a adapter from a female ipod too a micro.mini usb we have tons of interesting accesories.
I hope sombody can help me and others.
sorry for my bad english.
Wesley
Useless. All you could do is charge the phone and connect to a PC with USB cable. No sound, no video, no extra functions as those use extra connections and proprietary protocols that only the iphone has.
pretty much agree with kilrah, even if in theory some accessories geared towards just the audio could benefit from a ipod->microusb+jack solution, even if that would be ugly
Reality is, ipod/iphone specific accessories are 90% for "happy people" (read carefully through the words), and a hd2 user true to himself doesn't want those
i agree with you ephestione...
if the HD2 had all the endlessly possible amount of accesories like the iphone, i wouldn't want a HD2.
i like the exclusivity(?) of my HD2, i like that some people find the sheer size of the HD2 offensive, i like the looks on their faces when i show them how much better it is than an iphone.
with accesories comes more customers looking for the latest fad, i dont want that. if i want an accesory, i'll make it myself
i cannot tear myself away from this forum no matter how hard i try
for audio i just use a simple 3.5mm jack to 2 phono, plugged into my hi-fi...
bluetooth and windows sideshow when im showing off
So you guys wouldn't want a Bose sound dock?
We could just use a phono lead as quasi_mojo said and hook it up to a bose hi-fi
both my hd2 and my bluetooth headset use the same micro usb, so i only need one wall charger and one car charger...
i use bluetooth to play audio through my car headunit, a jack to phono cable for playing on my home hifi, bluetooth again with sideshow or g-remote to control my media pc's...
i dont really see the need for another cable based on what the hd2 is capable of...wireless options are always going to be better
what excatly did you have in mind when you started this thread?
and no i wouldnt want a bose sound dock, mainly because of the ridiculous price and also due to the national grid already struggling to provide my house with enough juice to power the gear i have already lol

Any workarounds for a voip app and microphone for a rooted book color?
the cool guys that know what they are doing are working on bluetooth, that seems to be the best bet to getting a microphone working with NC, cross your fingers!
what about a wired headset with a built in mic. does the nook have the connections to support this?
I think the two best options right now for voice applications are probably the Bluetooth and the slight possibility that the micro-USB port on the Nook seems to have quite a few extra pins on it, which may have left B&N open to a proprietary connector that would allow for additional device connectivity via the micro-USB port.
I've purchased a number of micro-USB adapters in order to plug various devices into the micro-USB port of the NC, with zero success (keyboards, USB headsets, mice, etc). Clearly that port isn't currently operating in that manner, and I'm sure there's a tech savy person that could drop in and give us a simple answer to why this is.
I was also curious about the headphone port possibly have mic capabilities, and was about to purchase a single post headset to test the theory, but then I took a (very unscientific) look at the headphones jack, and it would appear that there aren't enough ring connectors inside it to support an additional channel. Obviously the guys doing the tear-down would know far more about this than myself.
We'll see what turns up over the coming months.
Found this teardown post with spec list and it says that there is no mic input in the headphone jack. I know I read another teardown post which I cannot find that indicated the same thing. I agree that our best bet may be getting the bluetooth working.

Can you detail what sort of adapters you tried? Have you tried a gender changer (type a-a female-female) on the end of the nook cord attached to a keyboard?
Someone correct me if I am wrong but, in order for the usb to do something other than just charge and connect to the PC from the usb, you would have to activate USB host, which is not turned on in stock. Hence no of the fancy toys will work. There are a lot of funky pins on the connector so it may have to be some funky adapter, assuming you get usb host running. There are a lot of hackery potential, but until that project is completed, the wait for bluetooth continues.
Go Occip! (the guy hacking the bluetooth.)
Mike
This is what I've been thinking about. I don't have the ability to figure out how to activate the USB Host function, but I read several posts about how it worked on N1, D1, and Hero.
The thing I want to try is using a micro USB to 3.5mm minijack cable like those that came with the G1. It's the only thing I could think of that could logically be supported by the default system since it was necessary in 1.5 on that device.
I don't think anyone is using VOIP yet, but you may be very interested in this thread:

I'm running the CM7 image via SD card from that thread, and the Bluetooth works, and I can connect to my phone and my headset. Several people can connect to their standalone GPS units. Worth watching.
Anyone know if the micro USB port is even powered?
On a lot of phones, the USB connectors aren't powered by the device (like my HD2), so you have to hack together a proper setup that supplies power.
Hi
I found this cable on another thread, this allows you to connect to any iPod dock allowing remote control, audio, and charging through the micro-usb.
There are other solutions which are like this but requires a 3.5mm jack with micro-usb to allow audio to be passed through, this doesn't allow remote control.
Its called Xiom Sam-ple, and the website is http://www.xiom-inc.com/order/.
Its not currently released yet and needs more publicity to show a demand for it.
It looks interesting and is certainly something I've been looking for.

After almost 10 months of usage my Chromecast hdmi extender that I happen to have used on all hdmi lateral ports of my household TVs started to malfunction. It is giving me blank screens, apparently the Chromecast weight after all this months finally took its toll.
I wonder if anyone here knows where I can get a replacement? I know that there are port savers sold online, but the one that came with Chromecast has a very specific lenght that I think will suit me well.
Any ideas/sugestions?
This one is a bit longer than you're looking for, but you may want to consider the 90-degree style if you can.
I know some Samsungs have recessed and fairly crowded ports, but it does help to reduce the torque on the connector. Torque and twisting especially along the "short" axis of the connector usually spells death, as it strains the connector's connection to the mainboard and eventually pops the "legs" of the connector (the part that connects to the mainboard) off.

Not the kind of extender the OP is looking for... if you're going to do a balun type extender you may as well just use your device's HDMI output.
Hi! The unit is listed at Autopumpkin, but I can`t make external links yet, need 10 posts.. Search for SKU: CN03-03101B-US-A to find it.
I want to use it in my 2007 Skoda Octavia, and according to Autopumpkin it should fit (I sent pictures..) The big black power and speaker connector seems to be the same as the original unit, which is a Blaupunkt Nexus.
I`ve already asked a few questions to Autopumpkin, and got some answers, but there are still a few things that I need to know. I want to replace the original roof antenna with one that has DAB, FM and 3G, like partnumber 6R0035501D. Many to be found on eBay. I think I found the necessary cable for FM, with white female FAKRA connectors in each end. There are two white male FAKRA connectors on the head unit , I guess one is FM, don`t know what the other is. I think the antenna has red FAKRA female connector for 3G, I don`t know what the head unit has? Maybe one of the three SMA female connectors? I can read "Wifi" on one of them, but can`t read the other two. There are also two white multi pin connectors on the head unit that I don`t know what is used for.
I want to get the DAB+ module. FM is shutting down soon here in Norway, and this is the main reason for replacing the original head unit. I can`t see from the picture what antenna connector is on the DAB+ module , maybe SMB female? I think the roof antenna has a black FAKRA female connector for DAB. The antenna also has GPS, but some say it is better to use the enclosed GPS-antenna?
Not sure how the roof-antenna is powered. I can`t see any extra lead for power. If it is phantom powered from the radio I guess this must be done externally, or does the head unit provide phantom power on the antenna connector(s) ?
If anyone has an installation manual, or some other useful information on installation or issues with this head unit it would be great!
