Boxed-edges on case and holster
The "Shellster" case was my first LG P970 phone case. The price was right from Amazon (under $4, including shipping) and the on-line reviews were mostly favorable. I was impressed with the compactness of the combo, and the overall fit on the phone. I don't think the cover and holster could be made any thinner than this combo. The case sides wrap up and around the phone's sides, and sit just above the glass face surface; this case does not interfere with the on-screen keyboard in any way. The cover doesn't look like it's held on the phone by much, but it grips the phone well. My only real complaint is that the back of the cover is "boxy", with squared edges; the P970 has a beautifully rounded back that fits the hand well, and the squared edges of the cover feel out of place and make the phone appear larger than it actually is.
The holster is precision-molded and holds the phone cover face-inward. Three clips -- two on each side and one on the bottom -- hold the cover snugly in and against the holster. There is a shallow perimeter lip on the holster that helps position the cover; it also (somewhat) prevents the phone/cover from sliding up and out of the holster. A large felt pad lines the inside of the holster and protects the phone's face. A mulch-position clip securely locks the holster on a belt up to 1-5/8" (4.1 cm). The holster also has a "kickstand" built into its clip; pulling out on the clip and slipping an attached wire loop downward locks the clip outward. The stand seems to work fairly well, but I question its long-term durability.
In use, the holster didn't perform well. I immediately ran into problems with keeping the phone/cover in the holster while carrying it on my hip/small-of-back; all was well until I sat down. Sandwiched between my back and a chair/seat backrest, the phone had a tendency to work its way up and out of the holster in vertical carry. The three or four times the phone slipped out, I was able to quickly recover it. The Otterbox for the iPhone has a release latch on its holster; it's a feature that this holster sorely lacks. The holster has a raised ridge at its top to help retain the phone/case, but it's just not enough. I also ran into an issue with the belt clip: 1-5/8" clearance wasn't enough for my 1-3/4" work belt; the clip slipped over my belt, but wouldn't lock.
Rating, in three parts:
Cover - 3/5 - holds phone the well, but feels boxy in the hand, making the phone feel larger than it really is.
Holster - 1/5 - nicely built, but cover/phone retention is poor.
Overall - 2/5 - An inexpensive combo that's limited by both the lack of a retention latch and a non-contoured cover.
Just wanted to share this accessory that I bought for my note 2. I dont have big hands, not too small either but this thing helps me get a better grip of the phone and allows me to reach the whole screen with very little risk of it slipping my hands. Its also really comfortable when you use your phone while lying down. It sticks nicely and you can take it out if you need to put your phone back in your pocket
Attached on my note 2
Cool, but only for naked N2 or with a smooth tpu case, unfortunately Otherwise, need to use FlyGrip, Bunker Ring, or Sling Grip with sticky pads to secure to a case.
This is my ghetto mod using some 1/2" black elastic, a little sewing, and grip by clear silicone sealant on my ballistic case. Nothing is permanent. When the silicone dries I will flip the strap to create grip.
After ever silicone sealant dried I flipped the strap and tried it out.

Does anyone know of any pouch/holster options for a G2 with the Incipio Dual Pro case? Doesn't need to be anything specific for this case.. Just something that it'll fit in. I had a 5.11 Tactical smartphone pouch for a few of my old phones but the G2 is a bit wider and will not fit, especially with a case.
This is a great case, I just hate putting the phone in my jeans pockets due to the size, and the grip of the rubber coating attracts dust and doesn't slide in or out of a pocket easily.
I tried the otterbox defender case and holster combo but it's pretty bulky and I much prefer the Incipio.
Well, I gambled on this pouch

It fits the phone almost perfectly, but my goodness is it a huge pouch! Not sure I'll use it much.
Seidio has released a Naked Belt Clip Holster for the Turbo.
Can be ordered from Amazon for $28.35
This holster is designed exclusively for a "naked" device
Seidio's Spring Clip Holster has been refined from years of customer feedback and advances in technology. A durable spring clip holds your device securely in place, and then lifts for quick access. Both the felt liner and the face-in design protect your screen from scratches and exposure to outside elements. This holster can be worn in any one of seven different positions, ranging between horizontal and vertical.
- Spring clip lifts for easy access and removal
- Felt liner and face-in design protect the screen
- Rotating swivel belt-clip with choice of seven positions
- For use with bare device
I have ordered one and will be here on Sat. Never found a naked belt clip for my last 2 Motorola's. I am glad Seidio took the plunge in developing one.
Will report after I receive it.
Awesome, I might pick one up.
Here is the actual link to the clip on Amazon
Received the Seidio Naked Holster today.
The fit is very good and it does not wiggle at all while locked into the holster. The Turbo pops in and out easily without any trouble.
Unlike the Shell Holster combo from Verizon, the Turbo pop in face forward from the side. The sliding down from the top with the Verizon holster always seems to catch my shirt in the holster.
Now I can loose the bulk and carry the Turbo without any case/shell like it was meant to be. Showing off the Ballistic Nylon back!
Just got the Supcase today. It comes with 3 interchangeable back plates. The case looks like a cross between an Otterbox Defender and a Spigen Slim Armor. It comes with a built-in screen protector, but I removed the portion covering the display since I already had a screen protector installed. The top portion of the protector around the front facing camera is still present. It also has plastic protectors over the rear camera, laser auto-focus, and led flash. Similar to the front protector, they're likely easy to remove, but I chose to leave them on.
I mainly got it for the port covers since the G4 will be in dusty environments. The port covers appear to be staying in place fine. However, some people on Amazon have reported that the port covers don't stay in place with their leather-backed G4. The case has a layer of black mesh over both mics and the IR blaster. The earpiece and back speaker are also covered. Audio still comes through fine. In addition, the back buttons are covered, but they remain easy to press. Not easy enough though where you have to worry about accidental presses while in the pocket.
Keep in mind that water resistance is not the same as water proof. This case is not made to be in water. I attached some pics to this post, but more can be seen at the imgur link below.
LG G4 Supcase
Extra Info: This case does seem to work fine with a tempered glass screen protector. Without actually installing the tempered glass and just laying it over the display, the case was able to close fine.
Nice one. Tnx
How is the side grip and do you find the case significantly thicker than other cases? Thanks for the great pictures!

I would say the side grip is pretty good. The tpu section along the sides has a matte finish.
At the moment, I only have two other cases for the G4. One is the Neo Hybrid and another is a thin clear tpu case. It is definitely thicker than the Neo Hybrid, but I wouldn't consider it too bulky of a case. I can still use the phone fine one-handed with the Supcase installed. I attached a pic below comparing it to the Spigen case.
That looks just like a Otterbox Denfender with some extra features. The back cover's I don't care for changing out but I can see it's a nice added feature to some. I like on the back how it covers up everything nice and close compared to the Denfender like the Camera and everything that is nice. I also see it has like a mesh those parts I might try to do something with my Otterbox like that also seen it on the bottom mic. I work in construction and just hate to to get the G4 trashed, I was able to keep my Note 2 for over 2 years in perfect condition with an Otterbox Defender but did require me cleaning it 1x a week to get the dust build up out around open inputs. I was going to keep my Note 2 and just change Sims in the morning from phone to phone but that's a PIA the Defender Note 2 case is really hard to get off compared to the G4.
Does this case come with or can you buy Belt Clip Holster for it ? I'm waiting on what Zero Lemon Releases for the G4 hopefully sooner than later since I will most likely just get that since it's mostly a Otterbox with extended battery and belt clip.

Check out my thread on the unicorn beetle supcase. Comes with a holster. May be more inline with what you're looking for.

It doesn't come with a belt clip holster and I'm not sure about compatibility with other holsters. The other Supcase Mike mentions does come with a belt clip so you could check that one out. It may not provide as good protection from dust as the case I reviewed, but it's still certainly rugged.
I contacted them they said they don't sell the Holster on it own and the holster is just for the Beetle case.

Here it is with the tempered glass fully installed. Case still closes fine :good:
Just wanted to say I picked this case up along with the Beetle Case that has the belt clip. The Water Resistant Case does indeed work the the Beetle belt clip it is a snug fit but it does lock down with the screen side facing in just like the Beetle. It also locks in good with the Otterbox Defender belt clip when the screen is facing in. It will not lock down with screen out on the Otterbox clip but it would be fine if you were just using the belt clip with the kickstand on a table.
Between the 2 Supcase's not sure which one I liked better will do some testing but at first I would say the Water Resistant Case I could really do without the removable back covers and rather just have something like the Beetle and that would be great. I also see on the Leather back it left 4 little marks on the bottom of the leather back. I would have to take pictures to really show what and why it caused it but it's not a big issue to me you could barley see it and I'm sure a small file would fix the issue. At first the button port cover's did not close all the way too fix that just pull on them a little and they lock in fine. I could see this becoming my daily case for work or atleast when we work outside or in really dusty conditions which is often.
Compared to the Defender it's hard to tell since I've had the Defender since Week 1 and these cases for 1 hour. Hands down the G4 Defender is the best Otterbox case I've had or seen in person. Most my friends don't use cases or they just use a slim case so I'm comparing it to my Note 2 and past phones. The fit and everything for the G4 Defender is good. The Belt clip adds a little more bulk to the overall size compared to the Beetle or Water Resistant case with the belt clips that's because the Otterbox is designed to lock the phone in both ways Face in and Face out. I never really use the belt clip with Face out unless I am using the kickstand to watch a video and 90% or more of the time I'll just hold it or lay it some other way since it's usually to vertical with the clip.
The Beetle is nice as well but I'm not sure if it just my case or if it's from the Leather back but I find the rubber shell not locking in really tight on the right side if I were to just run my finger off the side of the case it would come undone like you were trying to remove the case. Also it doesn't have that little cutout on the bottom right corner like the Water R case I found that a nice feature to remove the case. I will try again without the back to see if it helps at all. I still haven't removed the Plastic Screen protectors on these 2 cases so that might help since I already have a temper glass one on.
If I was looking right now and didn't already have the Defender then both of the Supcase's are great for similar feature's and slightly less bulk if you use a belt clip . I always use the belt clip to help protect the screen I just clip it on my pocket of my pants. Since you can get both of them for cheaper then just the Defender case it wouldn't be bad idea to get both. I also seen a few eBay sellers that had the Water R case with Free ship for about $12 were I got mine alot better than Amazon price.
I will for sure keep the Water R case but will have to decide on the Beetle in a few days. If anything I will be keeping it just for the Belt clip if I don't really like it unless Supcase will sell one or fine one for cheap but hate to keep it for the belt clip only when I bought it for $19 and the Water R case only for $12.50 even together less than $32 is not a bad deal at all. Just hate having collection of case's sitting around since I will most likely be getting a Extended Battery to use at times as well.
fast update - the beetle does fit the correct way without the leather back I will try some more with the leather back to see if it might just stretch a little over time.
Also Wireless charging working fine with all 3 case's.
Although this looks so tempting, unfortunately I am too worried to use such cases. Especially after my Water resistant Z1 got water damage! and that phone was sealed!

Not sure about that phone but this case is really just meant for splashes of water. Basically any case that cover's the port's would be the same but this one covers up your camera lens so should help to take a little more water than other Water R case's but they should never be submerged in water .
I did find 1 issue with the case on taking pictures with a flash atleast Indoor's in low light haven't tried it elsewhere. If taking a picture in landscape with the top of the phone on left hand the bottom left corner and top right a little has a shadow to the picture's like the flash doesn't get all the way through or something hard to explain. In portrait it I did not see it happening. Also with No flash it did not happened in either mode.

Can you please tell me which tempered glass screen cover you have on your LG G4? Thank you.

As I mentioned in the OP, water resistant is not the same was a water proof case. This case is not meant to be in water. As mentioned by @BDestroyer8418, this case just protects from splashes.
