No shirking responsibility it is entirely my fault. Please I need help. Plenty of details. I have searched, downloaded a lot of files tried them to no avail & brushed up on my Command Line usage through TWRP Advanced Options.
I foolishly borked it by taking an OTA Update. Now my D950 is not recognized at all when I plug it into my PC. Tried different versions of LG USB Drivers at least versions 4.11, 3.13.2 & another. No recognition, none & I'm using the original LG USB cable.
But everything works on my backup phone LG E980 Optimus Pro. How do I get the PC to recognize my D950? I see this as my LG Flex's biggest problem.
I tried Restore & it finished & said success. But it still boots to the LG logo & then to the TeamWin logo & then to the TWRP home screen.
My PC is Windows 7Px64. Any questions ask away. Possible solutions are welcomed. Thanks all.
Well now I can see the phone in Device Manager with a yellow? I'm unable to get a LG Driver to install & Device Manager says no Driver is installed. Even though installing the Driver by clicking on the .exe says the LG Driver successfully installed.
I get this now. Suddenly I boot into this. Tried translating services like Google no soap It's a .jpg & every time I convert it has Asian characters but it is not even close to the original. Anybody know what this means? The options are selectable so I have to know.
Just had a weird hopeful thing happen. Plug into data cable into pc, booted to LG screen. Then instead of the Korean? screen or the TWRP logo then home. It booted into the AT&T screen with the jingle then my Android home screen. After a few few seconds it powered down with a polite ~not enough power to turn on message.
So I'll fully charge it & see. Hadn't seen the AT&T screen with the jingle then my Android home screen in 5 days!
SOLVED.
Fingers crossed.
Like to tell you exactly how I solved this. But I can not. If I documented it would have taken 10x as long if at all.
What I think happened was a multitude of things. First I caused it. Second the hardware buttons: vol up, pwr & vol dwn. Tried every combo 1st: pwr & vol dwn, all 3, quick release at LG logo etc. etc. Numerous times in TWRP I did a Recovery which TWRP reported successful. But when I rebooted it went straight to the LG logo & then to the TeamWin logo & then to the TWRP home screen.
But the 2nd to last time I turned it on with pwr & vol up at same time. Got the above Korean screen. Disgusted I turn off by a button combo I forget. Might have been all 3 or vol dwn & pwr. I set my LG G Flex aside for 12-24hrs. Then I plugged into data cable into pc, booted to LG screen. Then instead of the Korean? screen or the TWRP logo then home. It booted into the AT&T screen with the jingle then my Android home screen. After a few few seconds it powered down with a polite ~not enough power to turn on message.
So I charged it up. It booted up like normal fixed! Ugh but my TWRP backup was 4 mos old. So I pwred down. Removed my Google acct from my backup E980. Did all the zillion updates from Google Play & F-Droid with plenty of reboots in between. Made sure Software Updater didn't have wifi/data permissions in AFWall+. Made a new TWRP backup & it rebooted correctly. Fixed Knock-on which TWRP breaks which I documented here.
Pretty stoked I figured this out. Oh total recognition in my PC now. Therapeutic for me & maybe it'll help others.

Hello All
I did search the forum and still not answer for the stranger reboot loop.
I got a phone call, and answered it. The reception was crappy and hear no voice. I then looked at the phone to see if call had dropped and it was frozed on the incoming call screen. I then pulled the battery and pressed the power button to turn on the phone and It would not power on. After multiple battery pulls and many many power button presses, still nothing. It was like it was out of battery. It was stitting on the home charger before i left the house. Prior to this the phone worked fine. Over the past week or two I had to do a battery pull may be 3 times.
I got to my car and plugged it into the charger and the orange charge led came on, on the front of the device. I then pressed the power button and it vibrate once as normal and then went to the multi-colored nexus "X." he screen went black and then vibrated once again and and was back at the mulit-colored "X." Then the loop starts.
In between the restarts I try to get it to boot into the bootloader by using the "vol down and power" and the "trackball and power button" and the white screen for the boot loader flashed for a milisecond the goes to black. As long as I hold the "vol down" button the while bootloeader or recovery screen flashes every 4-5 sec for a milisecond. As soon as I let go of one of those button, it automatically goes to the full reboot loop.
THis all happens when it is plugged into a power source. As soon as i unplug it, it goes back to the power button not responding. Again it acts as if it has no battery power. But it is in the 90%.
So i am unable to do any other step as in reflashing, and or doing a recovery.
ANY IDEAS any one.
I was running Cyanogen RC3. the latest rom with amon RA 1 7 1, korean radio 5.0.8
It was running perfectly up till today. when it went into its loop.
ANY HELP WOULD BE AWESOME
THanks in advance
DD
Plug it in to the USB, adb reboot recovery, reflash rom. Or even wipe and reflash if needed.
Sounds like it could be hardware the way you have to hold the keys down and you said it wasn't responding to the power button press.
ok thanks, ill give it a try.
here is my only issue. I am not using my original computer Mac. I just sent it out to apple for repair. So i am using my companies computer. I need to set up the AndroidSDK to be able to talk to the nexus. Since the phone will not turn on i can not load the drivers. and ive tried every way and it has not installed and i cant check because it wont stay on. it just goes to the loop. and it wont turn on if its not plugged to a power source.
Any ideas or suggestion.
SOrry I am an noob, so could you please be specific in your instructions.
I as of right now have insalled the Android SDK and i am unable to see the serial number (working on an old dell, running XP sp3) because it wont turn on.
It cant manually install the drivers because I cant turn the phone on to specify the drivers.
and
I using USBDeview, the phone also has to be on to erase all HTC previously installed drivers. i think. but there were none in the usb log...i think becuase they didnt install...agains because it would not power on...:-(
any ideas...please
DD
Also
Sorry excuse me if its a sort of a duhhh question...
even if i am able to load the device bridge, if the phone will not boot can i still flash another rom, or do a recovery. The phone is not getting past the Multi-colored "X" ???
DD
It should still read the commands when it's trying to boot. You don't need to turn the phone on at all to be able to install the ADB drivers, they are independent of each other.
As strange as it started, is a strange as it went.
This morning open the phone to pull the sd and the sim to put it in a throw down phone. I replaced the battery and cover and just hit the power button. The phone does a full boot and it appears to be working properly. the sd card and sim are fine. I the odd thing is i did this multiple times yesterday and last night. I pulled both sim and sd, replaced the battery and tried to boot with the same issues as named above with nothing different.
I left the phone on charge last night and it was charging for close to 8 hours and it was still showing the orange charging light.
So after it booted this morning, and i checked everything. It showed the same amount of charge as yesterday, right before it froze, which was 75%. So that is another strange occurance.
I plan on reflashing the rom and seeing how things go.
I thank you for your assistance and time.
appericate you helping out a clueless noob.

moto x purchased from web site, for use on Tmobile
i'm currently deployed. Lucky enough to have WiFi on base and T-mobile so communication home this deployment has been amazing. Saw lollipop came out today. downloaded it. installed it. phone boots up with the regular "TOMMYBOT Mobile" and then the spinning M worlds. then it gives me the password (for the decryption). it took a min and then said some error about corrupt files and that i needed to factory reset my phone. so i pressed the button and nothing happened... so i powered down the phone. and then everything started up the same. but when i put in my password to decrypt it takes a minute and then says starting android.... and then the screen goes black. tried 5 times. longest i waited was 30min. (left it over night now, so 6 ish hours)
i can start my phone pressing the power and volum down and it brings up a fastboot menu? but even from there the factory reset option just boots my phone back up as if i pressed the power button.
any help is appriciated.
thank you,
tom
Edit: followed these instructions (cant link, motorola global portal)
and a matching youtube video and i get stuck at the dead android with the triangle "!" sign mine says "No command." under him and i cant get the next menu to open
asked for help here (link motorola forums help) they suggested verizon assistant app. the program
i've treid 3 times now. each time the start repair makes a command "getvar all" come up on the bottom half of my fast boot screen. and then thats where it stays. the "Repair" button on the right does not become clickable.
Solution:
once on the dead android screen to open the next menu it was press and hold volume up AND power for 3-5 seconds together .
from there i did the data wipe/factory reset and booting up i'm already on lollipop. of course all un clouded data lost but i'm just glad to have a phone again.
Hi all, forgive me if this has already been asked in some form.
My girlfriends Verizon Moto X lost battery one day while she was playing a game. After she charged and tried booting again, it just booted to a black screen. It still runs through the full boot animation. Weirdly enough, active display will still show her information (and can be interacted with until unlocked), and holding power will bring up a power menu for shutdown. The camera gesture also works to launch it, but you can't interact with anything at all. Safe mode provides the exact same issues.
She is running the latest 5.1 update and is fully stock. She also does not wish to root or flash a custom recovery.
I have tried to pull the data, which windows recognizes as a media device, but shows empty when clicked on. OSx immediately says that the storage can not be accessed over android file transfer. I plugged it in for ADB but ADB won't seem to find it when its turned on. It is recognized in fastboot though. I also wiped the cache via the stock recovery, but that didn't help.
I believe a factory reset will be the solution to the black screen, but she has a bunch of photos she would really like to save. Is there anyway for me to actually get them off of the phone? If she can get those, I can get it factory reset for her no problem.
Thanks for any advice!
The exact same thing has happened to my girlfriend's phone as well and I'm also looking for a solution to recover the data. Moto X (2014) Pure, 5.1
The device boots. The Motorola boot animation plays all the way through, the screen brightness dims slightly as normal, and then the Amber Alert from the previous night vibrates the phone several times and displays over a fully black background. There are no soft buttons and no status bar. The home screen appears not to have loaded (yet?)
Attempts to click "OK" to close the alert fail.
The phone is hot. It is working hard. Something stuck in a loop?
The power button will bring up the "Power Off" prompt with no issues. The animation plays smoothly and the phone can be powered off as normal. The phone is able to recognize touch input here.
Calling the phone while it's on will play a ringtone. It is receiving calls.
Plugging the phone into a computer will show up as an MTP device. However, there are no contents listed.
Sometimes, the phone will prompt that the "System" process is not responding and will ask to close it. This has no effect.
Booting into Safe Mode has no effect.
Clearing the application cache from recovery mode has no effect.
I have a CSE degree but absolutely no Android experience. Forensics on a NAND dump or something like that isn't out of the question, unless it's not possible. Hope you're able to get some help.

I am having the exact same issue. Has anybody had a luck resolving it short of a factory reset?
My phone battery died last night. I plugged my phone in, let it get about 15% charge, then tried to turn it back on. The phone boots like normal, but after the boot animation goes away, the screen is black. Active notifications still seem to work, and I can hold the power button to get the Power Down option. I can boot into the bootloader & access recovery just fine. However, my phone is fully stock (no root, no bootloader unlock, no anything). I can't seem to access ADB when the phone is powered normally (ie, when I'm at this mysterious black screen), but it's possible that USB debugging isn't even enabled.
So far, I've found a bunch people who've said a full factory reset will fix the problem, but I'm looking for another solution, or at least a way to grab my data before I reset. Since my bootloader's still locked, I can't seem to use fastboot boot to boot into TWRP, and I can't find any other way to access my data to copy it off the phone. I've tried wiping the cache using the stock recovery to no avail. Any suggestions?
Update?
Hello,
I am having this issue as well.
Unfortunately I am unable to perform any form of factory reset, the bootloader also just brings me to the black screen and I am unable to use soft keys. The kicker for me is that I cannot connect to my PC with a working USB. I used to have that available and now no device is recognized.
Forgive me if this has already been answered, but stick with me here. I am not tech savvy so any replies will be much appreciated, although try to keep them step-by-step. My lg g6 is stuck on the lg screen and loops that, sometimes it after the lg logo appears the tmobile screen pops up but then the screen goes black and everything repeats. I have tried booting the phone into recovery, fastboot etc, but i can't seem to.
-Backstory
The phone originally had water damage, so i replaced the battery. After doing so i realized the phone started up really slow, but once booted everything ran fast as normal. I immediately realized that the microphone and speakers did not work, on top of not being able to make phone calls or record video as it would freeze the screen and then crash the phone. I was also not able to play some types of media like youtube (even though it was able to play youtube before the incident), with it giving me a playback id number. This little sub issue was also stated on (https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g6/help/audio-media-played-h872-t3793006), but i cannot find anyone else with this problem or solution. But first things first, how do i get out of the loop?
In future regards, thanks for the help.
Honestly, it sounds like your phone is on its last legs. Try factory resetting the phone.
1. Press and hold the Power Button + Volume Down Key on the phone to force a restart.
2. Release the buttons when the screen goes black.
3. Immediately press and hold the Power Button + Volume Down Key again. You'll only have about a second to do so.
4. The LG logo will be displayed and, afterwards, it should boot you into the System Recovery Menu.
5. Release all keys when the System Recovery Menu screen is displayed.
6. Use the Volume Keys to scroll to the Factory data reset option and press the Power Button to confirm.

So I am having the exact same issue with my phone. It is brand new however. Loops on LG screen. I tried this solution, however after the phone restarts, repress the keys, and the LG logo comes back on, it shows the unlocked bootloader screen, then goes back to the lg logo. It then cycles the unlocked bootloader screen and the LG screen infinitely. Do I have a brick on my hands?
My wife Nokia 7 Plus was found in download mode (white screen with Android One logo) and is stuck in this mode. I've never done any unlock bootloader or root or anything on it (thus I did on other phones so I'm not totally stranger to it) and I'm 100% sure she didn't tried anything strange either. The phone is completely stock and probably with the last update as it went back new from repair a few months ago (for screen brightness issue) and I did update everything possible before she used it again.
The phone start automatically and immediately I see the white screen with AndroidOne logo and after a few ms it refresh and it's the same screen with the back text "Download mode" at the top.
I've tried to force shutdown and reboot by long pressing power. I cannot keep it shutdown, it goes back to Download Mode screen.
I've tried to restart start with power + vol up or power + vol down, power + vol up + vol down. Same.
I've tried to let it die on battery, charge it, and here it's a black screen with the large battery logo and a white text at the top saying: Download mode. After a few minute I try to boot and it's back to the white screen.
What can I tried next before I send it back for repair and it will be probably wiped again...
Side story, I've almost force her to switch from iPhone to Android because of price of the devices, and so far she is not converted at all with all the trouble we got with this Nokia.
As last before send to service try wipe in recovery, if not boot to recovery via buttons, try if your download mode is recognised by fastboot and reboot to recovery using: fastboot reboot AND IMMEDIATELY HOLD BUTTONS POWER and VOLUP until show "green android icon with no command

Thanks for your help, unfortunately none of this work. I've tried adb device and nothing is seen, fastboot reboot neither. I'll send it to repair now.

I'm having the same problem. Exactly what you said. I didn't root my device or even attempt to do anything. I bought Nokia because they were purely stock and delivered some quality mobile phones. I've got only this phone as my daily driver. So tell me if you have got the issue fixed and how much did it cost and how long it took. It's been stuck with that 'android one' logo and a small message that reads 'Download mode' on top. I've tried everything. And what I'm worried about is, my phone's out of warranty and I'm a student. I hope you got it fixed for some reasonable cost. Please reply to me ASAP.
My wife's phone also has had this exact same problem.
I have tried all the tricks mentioned above including ADB mode (it could not find the phone).
The phone is supposed to be under warranty. So I took it back to the place of purchase.
However, the phone has a tiny crack in the corner of the screen which my wife and I were not aware of. So Nokia have indicated that unless I get the crack fixed, the warranty is voided and they will not fix the boot problem.
Because the broken crack is not covered by warranty, Nokia want $270 for a new screen before they will look at the software problem caused by the pie update.
I took it to a third party repair shop to see if there is a cheaper option. They cannot fix it either.
So the 5 month old Nokia phone is now useless.
But if anyone can comes across a solution for this, can they please post it here.
Thanks.
Same here. I told the guy on the phone about the crack. But he told me it should not be a problem. Now I got an email that I needed to pay 185 euro's to repair the screen.
Because of their FW-update, my phone became unuseful.
When I get it back (not repaired) I will try a OST on it.
I solved my issue via this procedure:
https://www.techmesto.com/possible-fix-nokia-smartphone-stuck-on-download-mode-after-ota-update/
I solved it via drivers: https://github.com/StollD/nokia-driver-installer/raw/master/out/Phone_Nokia_USB_Driver_v1.4.0.exe
WTF Finally I fix it!!!

My Nokia 7 Plus got stuck in download mode after accidently pressing all buttons simu
Yes I know that sounds like a weird title and maybe you are wondering why did I do that? notice the word accidently.
I was just trying to fly my newly bought drone x pro for the first time and the controller has a little pull out extendable cradle to hold the phone in
if you want to view what the FPV camera is viewing while in flight and because of the bad design with all buttons on the same side of the Nokia 7 plus, unbeknownst to me all 3 buttons were being pressed at the same time and before I knew it my phone was shutting down and rebooting to this ridiculous download mode and the rest is history!
So I just thought I would mention this to anyone who happened to or happens to land in the same situation as me to be aware that you should probably put a little bit of sponge taped to the side of your phone over the volume buttons to possibly prevent it from being pressed simultaneously when flying your fpv drone.
If all else fails you could always connect the drone to your phone and then just put your phone in your pocket and fly blind by simply walking with the drone or rather running since they are pretty nippy. I am a bit bummed as this would have been a very convenient way of checking how full my guttering is of leaves without having to climb a ladder every time to check!?
Anyway I also used the fix here: https://www.techmesto.com/possible-fix-nokia-smartphone-stuck-on-download-mode-after-ota-update/
after downloading the nokia phone drivers from github.
If you are on windows 10 pro you may get a screen protector warning not to proceed further?
Ignore it and continue installing the drivers!
So far I got the Nokia Logo back and then it just hung there for several minutes without being recognised by the pc.
So I simply disconnected the phone from the pc and suddenly got the familiar nokia tone start up but then black screen again.
I realised it had been on the download mode so long it had completely drained the battery so now I am charging it.
Fingers crossed when I power up again I will at least have my phone back, sadly minus the data. (I will of course at least have all my google notes and contacts etc backed up to google servers at least they are useful for something!!)
I can't recall the last time I used it but I am pretty sure I had the SD card set as the main download so hopefully fingers crossed that data should have remained untouched, not sure how Android sets this up anymore?
Long time since gingerbread when you could still install and run apps as a completely separate partition.
All became a bit confusing after that so rooting became something I did hesitantly and as a definite last resort!
Anyway I am rambling on. If I find the fix works I will let you know.
Thanks for reading and thanks in advance if the fix works !!:good::good:

So it worked, I have my phone back! Thank you so much for this solution!
Sadly my SD card was wiped too!!!!! super pissed off about this, many photos and notes and other files that I will never get back unless if I recall I may have made a manual backup of at least some of the earlier stuff I put on here a few months back on my pc?
Nokia will be hearing from me for sure!!!!! I want a 50% refund for messing with my life and my time. How can they send an update that essentially breaks a phone for a bit!???!!!!!!
