I thinks it's a software problem since most Xperia Z1 users are having this problem?
Thanks for all your help!
Edit: Apparently many users are having this problem... Just found another vid : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wD_PS7EoQI8
In my opinion, its software problem related ..
I mean the sensor maybe need more tweaks and stuffs ..
Anyway, its just my opinion

Alright, thanks for your opinion... I'll try to go back to older firmwares to test wether it is hardware or software related
If this is a hardware problem, Sony will have some BIGGGGGGG trouble
EDIT : Okay, I have just went back to 524 firmware to test and I can confirm that the problem still persists.
As I wrote in the other thread my phone seems fine, tried 5 times. Someone said that it happened when you got in contact with the aluminium.
So I took the phone out of its case and tried, still fine.
More ajour the issue here

I've noticed a loss of touch across the right edge of the screen, most noticable when playing candy crush and i want to switch on the far right, but in normal use it's absolutely fine, points to software in this case.
If you want to know if there are problems then download a multi touch app and move your finger across every inch of the screen, if you lose contact you'll know theres a problem and you'll have some tangible evidence when you take it back to the shop.
Im so pissed at this crappy thouch screen.. if i type to fast and not hard enough it wont register it.. aspesially annoying with the spacebar.. its like 50/50 chance its gonna work each time.. is this hardware or software?? Such an high en product and it really sucks.. gonna go back to my s3 if this isnt fixable..

I'm starting to rather dislike Sony now . I can't believe so many problems can be found on a $5998 HKD, HIGH END smartphone . When I first saw an Xperia Z1, I immediately fell in love with it. I decided to save up all my money to get one, for a few months I only used 1/4 of my lunch money for lunch. And then you know what? I end up with a f*cked up touchscreen, bootloader unlocking problems and a yellow, ugly screen that don't want to see anymore. More then 6 of my friends are gonna buy an Xperia Z1 (cuz they saw mine) But I'm gonna make them change their minds and buy something else.
I thinking they assembling the product with different quality hardware for differen continent. I got mine all original and working fine. I just saying.
We are some people on the sonymobile forum with the issue.
I have a brand new Z1 on the Way from the store now.

I'm on .257 also and screen really sucks. Is there a calibration app that can resolve this issue?

I have no idea. I have tested like the way of topic's owner does and everything is fine to me
I'm might sell my Z1 for a Nexus 5. Do you guys think it's worth the money or should I wait 1 month for Sony to fix the touchscreen problem?

I'm planning that also. However, I'm still giving my z1 a chance until the kitkat upgrade next yr.. If it really sucked again then it's goodbye sony and choose Nexus from now on.
I have the N5 and trust me, it has it's fair share of problems. The RMA thread is over 40 pages long http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2515575&page=40
The speaker is an absolute joke (through headphones it's not bad), the camera once again is subpar and battery life is half of what I get with the Z1. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot to like about the N5, just don't get pissed off at Sony and go Nexus and think all your problems will be solved.

You're right, However if switching to another device will solve our main gripe then it would not be so bad. I really dont want to give up on my z1 however it really sucks to have this kind of problem. Everything is working fine, no overheat, wifi issue, black screen, yellow tint. Just this annoying touch problem.

I agree, on a device this expensive it should defect free. I have the yellow screen issue but not the touch problem. The yellow screen is definitely annoying because no screen adjuster I have tried solves the problem. And when you compare it side by side with a N5 or HTC One, you really see just how bad the yellow hue makes the screen look. I guess I can live with it now and hope for a solution but it's a shame there has to be threads like these full of the typical QC problems that Android has become infamous for.

Hi kart_man, I'm also having GPS fix issues, which I suspect are antenna related. How did you fix your problem? Did you do it yourself, and it's so, could you outline what you did?
Thanks!
Hmm my wife has maximal 4 from 12 satellites and an accuracy from 40 meters. I think it the same Problem

I had this problem after replacing my Xperia Z screen (having smashed it by walking into a table). The fix was slow and pretty inaccurate. I pulled the back off the phone again and took out the GPS antenna, wiped the terminals, jiggled it and put it back in. The GPS significantly improved, going from very inferior to my Nexus 5 to being as good. Prior to wiping the terminals, the GPS performance was the same with or without the antenna inserted.
Last night I fell of my bicycle and my phone took a bit of a knock, and the GPS performance seems to have dropped again. I am still testing it out, but it looks like simply cleaning the terminals isn't helping this time so I've ordered a new GPS antenna (which will take 3-4 weeks to arrive from China).
I will update when I receive and install it in case others find the info useful.
dident work for me
I ordered a gps antenna the big black bit at the top and a antenna for the 3g and network replaced both and it has not made a difference for me??
u any luck

I did the same, and it made no difference (I think). Based on that, I concluded that the original antenna was fine.
I have experimented with different ROMs, different gps.conf files, and a range of other minor things. What I have found in the end is that for one reason or another, the stock 4.4.4 seems to give me better GPS performance than other ROMs. I couldn't say why, but it seems to be the case. I was testing using Multirom, so it is possible that the different kernels used somehow interfered with the GPS performance, but I am by no means sure that was the case.
The performance was also much better after the first lock (which makes sense, because the first time it is doing a cold start so needs to get AGPS data and so on).
In the end, I just keep checking GPS Test (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest&hl=en) frequently and looking.
The GPS performance seems *ok*, but the orientation detection in non-stock ROMs is awful (and not amazing even with stock ROMs). I have basically given up using my Xperia Z as a driving GPS because my Nexus 5 is so much better for that same thing.
Actually, the Nexus 5 GPS just seems a lot better overall, for one reason or another. It isn't just the gps.conf because I tried using the Nexus 5 settings on the Xperia Z.
Hello,
Today I was viewing something on the Chromecast and the all of a sudden it updated to the beta channel, it shows a watermark at the bottom with build number '1.4.32904'
Lol, what gives?
I got this version 2 days ago. I don't think it's a beta.

Well this tells otherwise
oh I see. mine looks normal.
I noticed that on mine last night, not sure if its related but streaming live tv off of iplayer via my laptop was fairly choppy whereas it is usually fine.
I have an old Galaxy mini, replaced him touch screen and install CWM-6.0.3.3-b2-jena.tar.md5 and S6500DXXLD3_S6500DCROLD3_S6500DXXLD3_HOME.tar, but the cell phone does not pick up the system, it moves to the mark Galaxy GT-6500D and restart the . I managed to find Bootloop for GT-S6500, but does not pass the installation. I would appreciate if someone can help with this problem.
Any help. can the problem be that the battery is dead and I turn on phone over the cell phone charger.
I have the same problem, maybe some bad solder.

Hello, i'm having a very weird problem
I was on OxygenOS Stable rom, then suddenly oneday the middle horizontal half inch portion of my screen wasn't responding. I thought it was maybe a software bug, then tried several ROMS, but didn't work. Then updated to latest open beta and the problem was gone.
But before 1 week the problem started to happen again this time that previous non-responsive part as well as another half inch blow that area. I tried Stable 5.0.2 not worked this time
today i'm going to try some ROMs too, but what's the actual problem is? If it was hardware then how it was fixed previously?
HELP ME PLEASE
I suspect a hardware problem. Flash original rom, factory-reset and, seek repair.
