Hi,
Even if I cannot tell for sure, I think that at this point no one has managed to do this.
Xiaomi just has been kind enough to release kernel sources for the mi5. But, even if I am not a Dev, I am pretty sure that Nougat will need compatible kernel to be booted on mi5. I am not sure that the kernel source is already compatible !
The released kernel already needs some tweaking to be used. And as I hear, it's not going on fast... as almost all devs are already working on Nougat
Pity... but so it is
thanks for the info. hope to have official cm rom first, android N will be the next step
There is an alpha 7.0 on chinese miui forum .
As pointed out an alpha version was briefly(?) available (link dead now) on MIUI china forums. So can get proprietary 7.0 blobs from that maybe. It is a way off though, we do not have a "stable enough" cm13 to go official with nightlies from build bot yet

Possible I think .Though the system is almost broken, WiFi ,Bluetooth ,data etc works .That means
we can build a cm14 with its blobs and prebuilt kernel.

To the Ubuntu we goooo
I'm flashing rom for the first time I have unlocked the bootloader my device is rooted.
I have been reading posts
RR seems the most stable with oos cam included and it doesn't have pocket mode which can lead to faster battery drain.
So can you guys suggest me any rom which is as stable as oos and good camera quality (not working of camera, quality of the picture processed)
May this thread helps others too :fingers-crossed:
Thanks
Nothing has camera as good as stock, so if camera is important to you, stick with stock based ROMs (official OOS, FreedomOS, OP3Lite ...)
That port that is available for RR still has some issues.
Maybe try Paranoid Android, it may have some magic that other ROMs don't due to developers involved. It's supposed to have camera on pair with OOS, but I haven't tried it yet so I can't confirm (and for some reason people don't really talk much about PA). It has all other features of OOS.
But I'd suggest sticking with OOS based ROMs until OnePlus releases camera sources.

If the camera is a non issue than Slim Roms is the best. Fast not cluttered with useless features. But honestly OnePlus has it down with 3.2.7. had my doubts but the have created a ROM that is up there with P.A and Slim.
For me nucleaRom is the best and bug free ROM and you will have the OOS camera

Well I read the thread.. latest build has some lagging issue and few bugs though the camera is better than any cm based rom.. i'll give it a try in the next update. which rom you are currently using?

I think the developer has stopped the development for this rom
Resurrection Remix Black Jubel is very stable in my opinion......and it has tons of customization and Accepts the OOS Camera Port so you can get identical Camera quality to stock.

I'm using FreedomOS with blu_spark kernel at the moment, but I'll probably try Paranoid over coming weekend.
To be honest, OOS is actually a pretty good ROM. With Xposed framework it has everything I need.

Hmm...yes 3.2.7 is nice but you can't really compare it to custom ROMs. It's great for its intended purpose (stability and compatibility) but it doesn't have the customization that custom ROMs have...obviously. It depends on what is most important to you.
I'm using OOS 3.2.6 with latest blu spark kernel and I'm getting really good screen on times, like 10-15℅ drain per hour. I also have Xposed installed but I'm only using greenify with it. Imho OOS is just as good as any other ROM, and I have just about tried every other ROM and kernel combination with the exception of the new nougat releases. There are only a few extra options available in the custom ROMs in comparison to OOS and they are mostly cosmetic. I reckon wait till some stable nougat builds have been released and then we might see some improvements. There is also no need to even install freedomOS or OSlite because you can debloat the ROM yourself and learn something while you are at it. Just go to the OSlite page and check the debloat list and then remove the stuff yourself with Titanium Backup. For me it's more fun when I have tweaked the ROM myself, and I guess for others also otherwise we wouldn't even have so many custom ROMs. I have researched the living bejesus out of this phone and I am happy to share my accumulated knowledge with anyone that needs help.
Hi all,
Is there any custom ROM with pocket mode.? I have tried cm13 and RR, but no pocket mode

Paranoid rom has pocket mode I guess..
I haven't tried the rom but I have seen a tutorial on YouTube
I suggest you try h2os v2.0 5th edition. It has the best battery life, even better than pa rom. I still have 93% of battery after browsing the web using wifi for more than 1 hour. It is very smooth as well during gaming, no lags at all.

what do you mean exactly?
It's should be simple question for most of users but I want to be sure.
At now camera on Lineage OS is little buggy. Today Oneplus release Oxygen OS 4.1 based on android 7.1.1 so kernel sources is coming too.
Lineage based ROM's should get camera big improvement soon? Do I think right ?
Thank for the answers!
Well, I don't think it will get really much better.. (It is already really good since the open beta 7.1.1 Blobs are used..)
I'd rather love some more stability. Hope it will improve, when OOS 4.1 Sources get released.

Kernel sources released.
I ain't sure if that gonna help here, because the base is slighly different..,
If 1+ would release the sources for camera libs that will allow to fix the camera problems on LOS and AOSP

Using the 7.1.1 blobs from openbeta3 was a real milestone regarding camera. The progression from ob3 to 4.1.0 is notnsuch a big deal (the differences in the files are marginal).
Hi guys!
There are news of developement of custom rom with Android O?
First Aosp 8.0 doesn' t boot
Little bit too early... surdu is in vacation and haky works at other things.
September and later.
We have some issues with Android N, why we will upgrade to O?
It will be unstable

Wow, you are positive to new things. I think it wouldn't be impossible to have O rom, since it doesn't have so big differences to Nougat

Wait till LineageOS gets to 15.0. After that custom ROMs may happen.

What's with KitKat? There are security patches every month until now, right? Why not use a good old version? I have tested android 8.0.0 on moto g and I like android 7.1.2, too. It's not really a necessary update. We can really be happy with 7.1.2. The difference between 6.0 and 7.0/7.1 is so much bigger than the differences between 7.0/7.1 and 8.0.0. And 8.0.0 is old in few weeks, because android 8.1 is coming to pixel2-launch

Sure, but Android 8.0 is almost old, too. Waiting for Andoird 8.1 now. What will be new on this? Do anyone know more? Would be great to get infos
Hi,
up until 7.1.2 I used to run 2-3 roms in multirom, six or nitro as primary purenexus as secondary. However six's newest Oreo rom, it would install new kernel (i think) with it which does not support kexec (don't quote me on it either). Where as before I always used Kexec supporting kenrels such as franco, elemental and b14ckb1rd. Now I understand things very basic not in depth. And I understand why custom kernels for N6 might not be out already (since google didnt push out official oreo update for N6). My question for devs is should there be kernels out there in near future that would support Oreo and multirom same way it used to be till 7.1.2? Not asking for when not asking why not yet just asking if in future will it happen? If so (this question is just to understand) would that kernel be based on kernel for N6P or N5x or Pixel?
I would greatly appreciate if anyone can explain me. If a kernel developer wants to explain in great technical details I would love to read up. Thanks.
BTW the reason I asked this, is because in my experience, current custom kernels would not boot Oreo beta rom. and I am assuming they would not boot any future 8.0 roms as support for 8.0 is not listed under them only support for until 7.1.2 is listed. I am noob so feel free to correct me wherever i was wrong.

Devs are working on making Oreo stable with it's core features and when that's done the kernel and feature development will start picking up. As of now you'll have to wait but by experience from seeing older phones with dropped official support that has received newer Android versions by custom roms, multirom has worked so I don't see any issue. Only time will tell. Right now getting all core features stable is prio number 1.
