Hi guys,
I flashed CM 12.1 almost a year ago and now I would like to give the phone to a relative and I would like for it to have stock rom and to be OTA update-able. I've read dozens of topics and still not sure what are the exact steps to doing this without any errors or softbricks. Some topics mention to skip fastboot of motoboot.img others don't.
The phone had European firmware and it's the dual sim version. I just want it to be as it came inside the box and to be able to update it to the latest version of android (6.0 I guess is the last for XT1068)
I know people got errors after downgrading and making any OTA update so.. that's why I'm asking.
Thanks!
LE: my bootloader is unlocked, it's version 4883 and I also installed TWRP recovery.
Also I skipped motoboot etc.... and after the Stock OTA Update my second Moto G2 is hard bricked very nice. So, please flash 6.0 directly

So yesterday the 8th i bought the 2nd gen xt1064 off a guy on craigslist, story short... phone is great it came with stock 5.0. Bootloader was not unlocked but i was successful in doing so. Flashed twrp 2.8.3.0 just fine, supersu v2.02 flashed but when i went to open it it hit me with a message that it did not have any binaries or what not and force closed. I tried flashing another one but it got me stuck on the bootloader warning forcing me to downgrade to 4.4.4 (21.11.23) Now stock recovery shows: KXB21.85-23 i tried the ota lollipop update but it fails.
Any solutions on getting around, also what are the commands to lock the bootloader again just in case its a requirement? Sorry for the all the Q's im coming from a galaxy s3.

I wouldn't bother with all the OTA.zip flying around. It's a complete mess, since Motorola published different OTAs for different ROM-versions.
Here are some usefull links to get around
[TOOL]Minimal ADB and Fastboot is prooven to work with our devices. If you are using Linux, just install adb and fastboot through your packagemanager.
Stock Firmware for Moto G (2014) flashable through fastboot. Just in case you want to return to stock.
TWRP recovery compatible with Lollipop.
[ROM][5.0.2][titan][XT1063/64]The Titan Prime ROM is a Lollipop custom ROM (the only one, as of now).
BETA-SuperSU-v2.44.zip as older versions don't work properly with our device.
And forget about relocking the bootloader. There is absolutely no benefit in doing so. Your warranty is void.
So after upgrading to 5.0.2 I attempted to root my phone which killed the wifi.
Seems this is something to do with the boot.img
After attempting different things to correct the issue my phone got bricked and had to be sent to Moto
Now I just got it back and want to make sure not to brick it again. I have read a bunch of different threads and some have firmware that is no longer available or files that others say not to use
Can anyone please point me to instructions that still work today on how to root the XT1064 and have wifi working with latest OTA 5.0.2?
Thanks

Where was your problem? Unlock bootloader, flash TWRP 2.8.6.0 through fastboot ( fastboot flash recovery "name of the recovery" ) and flash latest superSU 2.4.6.
There are a lot of threads about it here on xda, check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=58913714 If you follow the instructions exactly there should not be any issue according WiFi.

Hi,
I own a Motorola Moto g2 (2014) Indian Version, 16 gb and i am running a stock firmware 5.0.2, rooted and bootloader unlocked. and i want to install a Custom ROM, So i went on to Youtube and find out how to unlock the bootloader and install Super SU.
After that i came to know about this site, and thought of flashing CM 13, and so in order to do that it was required to update bootloader, since it won't work on bootloader 4.4
So, i followed the instructions clearly and updated the bootloader and the TWRP Recovery , Both are successfull.
Now comes the problem part for me:
So when i browsed the xda developers site in the moto g 2014 thread , i came across this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/6-0official-indian-ota-zip-captured-t3299550
It said
So to everyone here. After updating to 6.0 I don't think it's a good idea to downgrade to 5.0.2 and update it with stagefright update over the air.
I made it and it hardbricked my phone.
5.0.2 bootloader version is 48.83
6.0 bootloader version is 48.86
So, don't downgrade your bootloader, it can cause hardbrick!
so, i got afraid, since i am going to install cm 13 nightly which is unstable and the bootloader already updated, will i be having problems when i restore it back to stock 5.0.2
and would it be safe if i installed cm 12.1 after updating the booloader or will it hard brick my phone. (since cm 12.1 is stable version compared to cm 13)
P.S Can someone post a link on how to backup before installing the Custom ROM, since i always see this step:
that is to make a backup using TWRP and then use advanced wipe to wipe the device, the only question is won't the adavanced wipe deletes the backup folder ?
And Is there any stable ROMS for moto g that runs marshmallow, + is it possible to install multi ROM twrp and Install CM 13 Along with the Stock Android
I watch all the forum ... and nothing .... It strikes me the idea that solving this problem can handle only champion. I am not and I tried on all methods.
Why XDA no solution ??? XDA's largest community of Android developers I know. There must be a solution, and I want to find him here!
Help if you can, even God
thanks
at least tell us, what seems to be a problem? As for now, it sounds like you're going to pay a milion-dollars for someone who will hardbrick your bootloader. Am I right? Send it to me, I'll hardbrick with my hammer for that cash.
I think his problem is that is Bootloader IS hardbricked and NOT that he wants it hardbricked.. BTW I have a similar problem. I installed Android 6.0 on my xt1068 using The Indian soak test update. I then decided I wanted to downgrade back to 5.0.2 and my phone is now dead completely... So yeah an answer would be nice here. Thanks
One should try to install only system, recovery, radio partiotions.
Every update Moto updates fs structure, changes bootloader and radio. These are critical and should not be installed.

More like they shouldn't be downgraded.

has a gpt.bin file is it possible to replace the gpt.bin from 5.0.2 firmware files with one that is present in blur zip please help
my current bootloader is 48.86 i used xt1069 's marshmallow previously
I FLASHED XT1068_TITAN_RETAILDSDS_5.0.2_LXB22.99-16.3_Easy_Installer.zip ON BOOTLOADER 48.86 VIA FASTBOOT IT GIVES ME MSG IN PINK ( version downgrade for _gpt and version downgrade for tz) and rest is worked fine it successfully booted into the stock 5.0.2 after that i updated soak test update of 6.0 by coping blurred version into sd card and checking it by going into settings >about phones >system updates
so not faced any problem as of now i m sure what i done i have a video proof also that i flashed (XT1068_TITAN_RETAILDSDS_5.0.2_LXB22.99-16.3_Easy_Installer.zip ON BOOTLOADER 48.86)
Sorry could you please explain that in beginner's lanuguage?

I've bricked my boot loader by downgrading and have taken it in for repair to my local cellphone repair guy and he told me it's dead and unfix-able. I was told to go to Motorola to get them to fix it except THERE is no Motorola service at all for South Africa... So I'm screwed?
Have been running on 5.0.1 (consumer cellular version). Tried to upgrade to marshmallow following the thread and that's where all problems began. After trying to flash through twrp, lost wifi. Bootloader is unlocked. Now the device is not recognized in ADB/Fastboot either...totally stumped after spending hours on this!! looks like the phone is now an official brick! Any last words of wisdom?
EDIT: painstakingly managed to get back to 5.0.2 stock. Device is root and twrp installed...now is there an official 6.0 version available for xt1064?
