All while using the Mix in the USA on AT&T I have found that that certain Apps like Outlook or Blackberry HUB App ( Which Includes Calendar ,etc) have a problem when setting a calendar invite with Time Zone setting.
Just to explain:
a) While traveling with the phone time settings on automatic from network. The time is aligned with the local time no issue
b) Now you create a calendar invite for an event let's say in a different USA time zone. The apps work by getting the phone OS settings ( time, current location, etc) and when you create the invite all the receivers will see the right times for their zones
c) This does not occur. The calendar invite on the phone shows the current time zone info but the receivers see a different time zone in some cases things that do not match even USA time zone
d) When researching this I found that the Locale Setting impacts the App's. The Mix does not have a USA locale and leaving it on China or Mexico will give the same issue
The same locale issue seems to be the culprit for the whole MMS issue for the phone
Not having both of these creates a conflict on the Xiaomi Mix that other International phones don't have . Huawei, ZTE, Vivo, LeEco, Asus, etc.
Overall I think we need a way to insert USA as a region or locale so the phone and carrier can play nice at the APN settings but also the App's that are using the locale and time zone to make "decisions"

Hello,
Has someone else encountered charset problem with "htc mail 0.97" ? That's the default mail app in htc branded magics (mine is TIM italy htc branded), and I have noticed the default charset is set in Chinese, no matter what language you choose (amongst english, italian, spanish: those are the 3 languages included with my phone).
The bug basically is that if you reiceve a text-only email with no charset specified [this happens mostly for automated emails like the one you reiceve from a web server (i.e.: forum notifications, and such)] then the htc mail software will display it in chinese characters, and there's no way to change this behaviour.
I have submitted sort of a bug report to HTC, but i don't know if this will obtain any result.
Do you eventually know any very good and solid alternative as an email software which will allow you to set a default charset ?
Thanks for your help.
(Just in case someone would be interested in the future)
HTC's answer of my bug report was quite hilarious. They suggested me to use another software. You have to admit that was a brilliant way to answer a bug report for their own htc mail software, i mean..
I installed K-9 and the problem seem solved, anyway. The original HTC Mail bundled with the magic is quite a buggy imap client compared to K9 mail, infact often it even "forgets" to check mail at the specified interval, this won't happen with K9 software.
All in all I am happy this way, though HTC demonstrates once again they work in a crappy way, with little or no attention to details and no support for their customers as long as they're able to keep selling their hardware. In two months they have ten further new models out in the market and they'll forget about you.
I eagerly wait for the new sony ericsson, motorola and other brands android phones.
I noticed this problem as well and run K-9. I have however found the Hero mail app to be fantastic if there was a way to pull that out and get an apk of that you would be happier then with K-9
Today my calendar has gone crazy... I only see SINGLE events WITH a reminder. I don't see it if there's no reminder, nor do I see it if it's recurring at all!
If I set a meeting that's recurring to not recurr, it'll show! And it doesn't seem to be a syncing issue, as I can create a local calendar entry and it behaves the same way.
I've tried nuking my local calendar and re-syncing it from Google, it did, but same problems.
Anyone else seen this?? It's driving me insane.
Okay, so still no idea what the hell is going on, but I've found if I disable network time AND go in and select Eastern Time (although it was already Eastern) THEN all of my recurring meetings show back up.
I don't know if this is possibly some limitation in the Android calendar or intentional since it's very consistent, but my suspicion is that maybe AT&T is sending out dumb data for the clock today?
BTW, I've also noticed that with automatic time turned on when I look at an event, it specifically says it's in the "Eastern Standard Time" but if I disable automatic time and set it per the above, I see no timezone notices in my events.
I'm disabling network time for now, I'll revisit it later, surely this is something intended or maybe I'm hitting a bug... I just can't imagine the logic of hiding recurring events if in a different timezone, assuming this is what's going on with AT&T today.
Hard to believe nobody else has had this problem.. Maybe I have a bad entry in my calendar. Perhaps someday I'll nuke my Work calendar, or perhaps rename it and create a new one, and manually create the new entries and see if the problem goes away..
I have Nite 5 SM-N9208 Dual Sim and all my contacts from google account
Whenever I receive an incoming call, half the time the the caller ID doesn't work and only numbers are shown.
plz some one can help me to fix it
I had this issue with my dual SIM note 4.
I don't know the reason for the inconsistency but I suspect it's the carrier's settings on different cell towers (might be wrong)...anyway, you just have to save the number in the different formats under the same contact.
e.g. john doe -
1) 555-5555
2) (3 digit country code)-555-5555
3) +1-(3 digit country code)-555-5555
Strange that dual SIMs aren't 'intelligent' enough to recognize that they are all the same phone number.
This problem seems to be as old as Android itself.
A little searching and it looks like the problem lies in the number matching required in the different ROM's
Contacts are stored within Contacts Provider. One of the attribute for contact is a "min_match"
attribute which stores a part of the whole number (from right to left) that has to be used when matching Caller ID to
contact. The length of the min_match attribute is defined in the telephony framework.
It is good practice to keep the MIN_MATCH length to max 7 (typically it takes 6 numbers from the right
+ 1 number from local prefix - for our example above min_match would be: 2xxxyyy
However, some official ROMs have the MIN_MATCH constant too high making it impossible to match
numbers stored in local format to full caller ID received from operator. (It was 11 in my case!!!)
(+421 902 xxx yyy != 0902 xxx yyy)

Most of the solutions require root which i don't have right now, leaving the only solution to have 2 phone No entries for each of my contacts.
Hoping someone can come up with something a little more slick!
OnCircle is one of my favorite new features by Samsung. It allows you to converse and send little quick messages and pictures to other OnCircle members. The OnCircle feature is quite like IMessage and FaceTime, but it lacks a ton of features. Even though it is still in it's early age it's definitely a feature Samsung will look to improve with the new S7 variants and the soon to come Note 6.
While there are only a few of us using OnCircle, there are major problems constricting others from using the feature. These problems are on both Samsung side and the carriers side. If your carrier supports Enhanced Messaging and you still have issues using OnCircle then it's due to either a Samsung Update or you might have either changed your phone number or had your phone unlocked/switched carriers.
Here is a manual way to fix it, I've talked to Samsung and they're working on implementing this into an update/app so that if you have OnCircle issues it will automatically fix it like a Macro...
Anyone with any variant of the s6 or s7 and Note 5 can use OnCircle. The problem is is that there are a few bugs preventing it from working... I believe you must have people Edge for any device other than the 3 Edged devices to use OnCircle but i may be wrong. There is an App for less than $2 on the playstore to add People Edge to the Note 5 and S6.
1. To test first go ahead and save your own number as a contact and go to MyPeople and see if you pop up. If you do then that means your OnCircle is working fine and the others either does not or doesn't have a compatible device...
2. If you do not pop up on MyPeople go to your default Messages app: More>Settings>Enhanced Messaging and turn it on if it was off go ahead and try to do the step 1 test if it was on/ still will not work continue to step 3
3. Go to your default Messages app: More>Settings>Enhanced Messaging>Registered Information and make sure all options are checked and test out step 1 again if it fails them go to step 4
4. Go to your default Messages app: More>Settings>Enhanced Messaging>Registered Information>More>Deregister Phone Number...
Then re-register it and once it's registered go ahead and turn on all the required settings like Enhanced Messaging, Profile Sharring, OnCircle etc... then test out step 1 again and it should work this time, if not reboot and try again and if still no go then your carrier does not support Enhanced Messaging. Try modifying your APN, for instance i cannot use Enhanced Messaging with a Simple Mobile APN so i use the T-Mobile APN which works perfectly...
***Profile Sharing allows you to be found by other contacts that have OnCircle only if you both have each other saved as contacts (you can modify these settings) but just like IMessage and FaceTime, your profile data is hosted on samsungs server so go to Contacts>MyProfile and make sure you share only the information you want, and even if you don't share your address, samsung will still have it on their servers so if privacy is your issue, don't fill out this information, and check to see if it was autofilled by your Samsung Account.
If you would like to add me on OnCircle and test out the features, send me a message on Skype and I'll be willing to add more friends to my very very low count of 2 OnCircle Friends, (one's myself).
Feature Request for Samsung:
1. Allow us to have a profile ID to share with others so that we don't have to give out our phone numbers to converse over OnCircle
2. Add more features, video calling, OnCircle Messaging App with cool features
3. Send songs and mp3s and other large files to OnCircle contacts through the Samsung Server rather than Enhanced Messaging
4. Live Straming service for OnCircle Friends and allow others to join via a Web based interface or an app via a private key
5. The Draw abd Send feature is really bad, even if someone spells out a word letter by letter it's still hard to read.
6. Screen Capture and share feature so that we can help each other.
7. Phone number Scanning: if we turn on the Feature, OnCircle will automatically use your phone number and email to add certain profiles to your OnCircle profile, example: Twitter, Whatsapp, Skype, Snapchat etc. I'd like share my social media accounts rather than my phone number.
8. Alarm Share: If both users have it enabled, allow them to share alarms and Callander Events through OnCircle so that someone can make that another person has their Alarm set for work etc. And add a setting that will let you choice that either you need to confirm the Alarm addition/change or it will auto accept depending on the person and time.
Thank you.

I am having a interesting issue with my phone that I cannot figure out. When I receive a text message the system adds a +1 to the start of the phone number it is coming from, I am using the Samsung Messages application but this does the same thing apparently with the Google SMS app and the Verizon messenger app (as I have\ tried these as well), this only happens with a text and if I get a phone call or look in the address book no numbers have a +1.
The reason this is an issue is because my car imports my phonebook as it appears in the contacts and when I get a text it comes up as Unknown Caller because of the added +1 but phone calls do not have the +1 so they show up just fine.
While working on this I have discovered that if I go to the text by going to my contacts then clicking on the persons name it will remove the +1 and it will stay removed as I text them but the second I get texted back the +1 is added. I called Verizon eventually and was told reset settings, reset network settings, turn off assisted dialing. None of these work and there next solution was to factory reset, I don't think this will help because it isn't just my phone but my wife and son who also got the same phone have the same thing happen.
Has anyone experienced this and know how to fix it. I have been through all the phone and dev settings looking for something. I cannot find any other threads online for this except for a couple from AT&T users from different samsung phones years ago with no answer. Previous to this we were using Note 9's and did not have this issue. Any help is appreciated.
edit: The phone is not rooted or modded and is on Android 11 One UI 3.1, sorry forgot to add that.
I think it's under: Settings -> Call Settings -> Other call settings -> Roaming assistance

That is assisted dialing I turned off already and it didn't affect it. It's also just on text messages phone functions don't have this happen for some reason.
The +1 is your coumtry code prefix (USA).
While you can change this in your messaging app you can't change it from eveyone else's phone.
From using it in your car radio might be somethng in your car settings or else in your contact list add the +1 to all your contacts.

I understand that the +1 is the country code.
It isn't from other people's phones it is the way the Ultra is handling the information when it comes to text messaging. I did the following test. I removed my son as a contact in my phone and called my phone from his. The phone number shows up as (xxx) xxx-xxxx. I then sent a text message to myself from his phone while he still was not in my contacts. I have 3 different text applications on my phone right now for testing purposes (default Samsung, Google's SMS app, and Verizon Messeages) and all 3 shows the phone number as +1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx.
The car isn't adding the the +1 to contacts, when my phonebook syncs to the car and I go into it the phonebook on my cars display they show the same as in my contacts "Contacts Name" (xxx) xxx-xxxx but when a text comes in it shows Unknown +1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx.
The issue solely lies with text messages being received on the S21 Ultra as this happens when people on Apple phones or Android phones (multiple brands) text me.
In regards to text messaging in general, i live not far from you ( about 9500 miles ) and I have a different device then yours. Receiving text messages from someone in my contacts list shows up contact name. Receiving other text message not in my contact list will show as country code and phone number. There are exceptions to this in regards to texts from government agencies and google which will show up who are not in my contacts list. I think texts messaging work around the international standard ie: country code + phone number while phone calls may not (unless making international calls). So i don't think it's device specific as it more to do with the networks that you connect to.
In regards to talking to you car ( text wise ) i may be of little help as i don't have a android 11 device and a car to talk to.
Since your note 9 works, and as far as i know latest version is android 10, it could be an issue with android 11. From your test using your son's phone have tried to add the +1 to his number to your phone and see if it's make a difference.
