I have (had) a retde xt1092 variant, I flashed the reteu firmware without problems, even without needing to factory reset and then upgraded to lollipop without any problems. My bootloader is unlocked, you can try with a locked bootloader
Thanks for your reply,
I did try to sideload the xt1092 EU version though, and samy thing, it compained that my fingerprint was wrong..
So.. I guess I would either have to unlock the bootloader, or wait for the German version to be released..

Just flash the reteu image and then sideload, you probably don't need to unlock

To be clear, you can definitely flash the EU image and the EU OTA update.zip on a retde XT1092 without unlocking your bootloader and without losing any user data. I did and everything is running smoothly.
Me too, I can confirm that.
Help here

When i try to flash the reteu zip (Via stock recovery) a message appears that instalation is aborded.
Can you please give a mini-guide to do this?
Maybe the Factory image i have is wrong.
Do you have any links for the Factory image?
Thank you for your time.

what is flashable bootloader?

what is flashable bootloader?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/rom-jdx-1-0-t3121053
why is it not neccessary for other rom (CHROMA)
please m new to this device
An unlocked bootloader is necessary to flash any custom ROM.
its a bootloader that has to be flashed. the new m bootloader needs to be flashed to run m roms. why not chroma? maybe its not pure marshmallow.
I don't think you need the M bootloader if you have a 5.1 bootloader. I just think you can't boot M if you have the 5.0 bootloader.

No there is no hardbrick . If you are not on the right bootloader and modem the rom may not boot , so you just flash the right ones.
If you want to came back to LP flash lollipop last booloader and modem and you are ready to go.
Basically , bootloader allows you to boot the rom , modem is everything related to signal , wifi...etc if you are in the wrong one you will not have signal or some things working

Yes, you can. First backup your android 6.0.1 from your recovery, in case something go wrong, you can go back.
Won't flashing/ downgrading the bootloader brick the phone ? How do you flash the LP bootloader and modem? Please can you give a step by step guide and where the correct files can be found? Thanks

Latest Bootloader - Can I Install Lollipop or KitKat Roms?

Hello
I have a moto g titan xt1068 dual sim which was originally running stock lollipop 5.02 and was updated with the OTA stagefright update and then the OTA MM6.0 official by motorola.
I have since installed custom roms cyanogen 13.0 and cyanpop 6.2
I know my bootloader is now the latest, so my question is can I now only install MM based roms? or can I still install KK & LP based custom roms?
or will installing LP or KK based roms hard brick my device?
Many thanks for any help
i'd like to know it too...
I'm not sure, but I can't really see why not. The bootloader being the latest changes jack squat on the question of being able to install older versions of Android or not. I mean, I WAS able to install the stock LP ROM on the MM bootloader, but your mileage may vary.
Yeah you can. Just don't try to downgrade your bootloader while downgrading to previous stock Android version. Itll brick your phone.
But just flashing custom Roms is safe.

That's bullsh-t.. You can always downgrade your rom, but you have to be sure you're not downgrading your bootloader. So if you're using oneclick installer you have to remove the command from the script which will try to downgrade your bootloader. Also after downgrading you have to be super sure that you will not update it with OTA!
Btw.: I'm not sure downgrading through fastboot can even brick your phone.

That's right.. You can touch your bootloader only when you have to upgrade it, for example in case of updating to Android N. Which I think will never happen (of course officially).
Here you can find a nice guide to downgrade your Android version.

Hi Techno,
How exactly did you do it? it's been so long since i used to play with rooting phones. and i found one phone that made me wanna root. Moto E4 plus. after all the steps, now am stucked to TWRP. i tried to flash magisk but still goes back to twrp.
TWRP: twrp-3.2.3-0-nicklaus
instead of: twrp-3.2.3-1-nicklaus, issue file too large
i'm not trying to revert back to original, im still pushing to root the phone. but, im stucked.
what could i possibly have done wrong?
Thanks in advance!
