My banking app is not starting bc xposed installed - Xposed General

Guys I need your help. My banking app won't start since it is finding xposed framework installed. Since it is Android OS I don't believe there is no way to change it. I have marshmallow 6.0.1 and the app is vr banking (https://www.vr-banking-app.de/service/hookinghinweis.html). I checked xprivacy and blocked there all except Internet access but either it didn't work or I did smt false.

There is no way to hide Xposed, you'll have to remove it or use something like rootswitch to temp disable it with a soft reboot

As an alternative to what Matt has suggested, you could use SuperSU and suhide in combination with Root Switch and Xposed. All required information can be found in the suhide thread here on XDA. Just search for it.

A little surprised by this. What kind of security does the bank use? Are there no security ID system connected to the German state? In Sweden there's Bank-ID for computers, Mobilt bank-ID for smartphones. Authorities, banks and other companies use it. Banks are indirectly required to by law since +1 year. No login by just a simple ATM like code allowed anymore.
A last resort, if everything else fails, is to simply change bank.
[Written by my thumbs on a state-of-the-art Nokia 3110.]

All my banking apps threw errors and I installed Root Cloak module and added them there. And things were good.
But then an e-wallet app showed error "app has been hooked by 3rd party app" because it was checking Root as well as Xposed. so a XDA member wrote a module which just returns 'No' when the app checks fro Xposed.
You can try a similar thing. here's the thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/xposed-freecharge-unblocker-t3511904

Hey there,
I just found this thread and got the exact same problem.
A few weeks/months ago, my banking app (VR Banking as described in OP) started crashing
if XPosed was installed. They tell you something about security, but it works fine with root and uninstalled XPosed.
There already was a link to this thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/xposed-freecharge-unblocker-t3511904)
providing a seemingly working solution for another app.
VR Banking seems to react to installed XPosed-binary AND installed Xposed-App, but isn't it possible to hook into the checking-process
and just return true/false ("everything is fine")?
Don't want to switch my bank because of this (although their policy of accepting root but not xposed is 100% ridiculous)
as it seems like such an easy solution. I already PM'd a developer of a module that hides root from certain bank app, but sadly no response yet...

Same problem here with another bank/country and MM (cm13).
The problem is only xposed manager itself. As soon as have it installed (even without framework) the bank app stops. Root only (cm or supersu) is not a problem.
I tried magisk + systemless root + systemless xposed (framework) + hide apps (like rootcloak, anrc,...) and no success. Bank always find the xposed manager (probably because I couldn't hide it completely).
We need a better general hide everything xposed solution. Hope some developer can work on that. Maybe magisk can be the way.

Just a quick thought to add to the mix... specifically for your banking app, have you tried the Sudohide Xposed module? It allows you to hide any app from any other app. I'm not sure at which level it happens in the boot process, but for your scenario, it's worth a try. You could just hide the Xposed manager app from the banking app and see if it works.
Let us know if it does!

Hi,
I gave it a quick try:
SudoHide Xposed Installer from VR Banking App and Rootcloak for VR Banking App, but the app still detects it on open.
SudoHide lists only Xposed Installer, no other Xposed app/module.

Yes, exactly. You are the kind of people why we got Donald Trump for president of the United States.
Seriously, if you can't help, don't answer.
I have the same problem, and it seems that german banking apps are somewhat stupid.
Root is allowed (which can be done by almost everybody), but xposed is denied, because PRO developers might hack their sh1tty apps with hooks...?

I agree. Coming from Cyanogenmod ROMs, permission management on OxygenOS feels very limited.
Also, wanted to say, if auto run and keep awake are your only 2 points (I'm guessing probably not), and if your phone is rooted and has Xposed, try out the module BootManager, and, of course, Greenify. I would think that you already know, but, thought I'd mention it just in case.

I just found out that it's possibly more of an issue with Android standard permissions available for Marshmallow and up.
Compare "Review app permissions thru Android 5.9" https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/6014972?co=GENIE.Platform=Android&oco=1
With: "Control your app permissions on Android 6.0 and up" https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/6270602?hl=en
... for the second page, the listed permissions at the bottom is pretty similar to what is available with OxygenOS, so, it's following AOSP.
*shrug* I guess I've just been using Cyanogenmod for too long.

When is safetynet needed?

I want to use a few xposed modules but it causes magisk to no longer pass safetynet check.Using "magisk core only mode" lets it pass but disables xposed. I know I need safetynet check when I log into snapchat, but what else is it needed for? Am I able to disable it when I need to re-log into snapchat etc, then re-enable it after that?

Some banking apps need it. If none of your other apps stop working then nothing. Safetynet is only needed for apps that require it.

Xposed vs systemless xposed?

I do not use androidPay or banking apps on my phone because I think it is unwise to do anything financial on a mobile device.
My current ROM is lineageos 14.1 which updates fine with Xposed framework installed. So I don't have to deal with stock ota updates.
For someone like me, on a custom rom, that does not use androidPay or banking apps on a phone, is there any advantage to switching from regular Xposed to systemless xposed?

If you don't care very much about system/less installation of zips because you're on a custom rom, maybe the only advantage is that systemless xposed is easier to remove if you end up in a bootloop or if you have other kind of problems.
Also, disabling magisk will disable xposed (again, in case of problems).
So, I think the main benefit is this. I tested when I was on Oreo (now I'm on P beta) and yes, in case of bootloop or crashes, disabling xposed modules or systemless xposed in magisk is like a life saver sometimes.

Personally I don't"t think it matters. I am using s8 stock noughat 7.0 rom using rovo"s xposed ver 89 and magisk 16.4 with no issues.
From my understanding reading the op for systemless xposed it's basically Rovo"s version ported to be installed through magisk. So what ever problems you have with one version you would have with the other (app wise that is).
Either version does not pass safety net and can effect play store certification.
I am currently running about 10 exposed apps + about 13 root apps at the moment.
At the end of the day I think it would be a personal choice as to which you choose to use.

IMPOSSIBLE to bypass mobile banking root check

Hello!
I'm trying to bypass the root check for this app

however it's impossible I swear. I use Magisk Hide, no xposed, safetynet passes
If anyone manages to do it I'll be forever grateful. You can try to bypass it, the check is done on start so you don't have to log in

There are some apps that search for "Magisk" in the app name and trigger on that. But, there are plans on making MagiskHide change that as well... You could test if this is the case for this app by simply uninstalling the Magisk Manager and see if the app opens or not.

That means it's likely that the app looks for "Magisk" in the app make. There are plans to counter that in a future version of the Manager.
This one is also impossible
I need help with Japanese baking (digital token) app, it detects root with Magisk installed.
This is the app name: パスワードカード from 株式会社三井住友銀行
I tried using Magisk Hide, the SafetyNet passed, Magisk Hide props, Repacking Magisk Manager, USB debugging is off, Developer Options off. All that was done in conjunction and individually, forcing close the app and cleaning the app storage.
I also uninstalled Magisk completely and did not work. the only thing I have not tried is closing the bootloader.
This is the phone I'm using.
Model: OnePlus 5T
Android version: 9.0.5 stock OxigenOS (also 9.0.5) with April security patch

Improved hiding - editing prop files
Often, it's easy to circumvent root detection, but in some rare instances apps (mainly banking apps) go that extra distance. These apps might look at the actual prop values written in build.prop and default.prop rather than the loaded values. This module can hide that. For more details, check out the documentation on GitHub.
