I didn't find anything when searching for this so I'm wondering if anyone else experiences an issue with notification volume occasionally being higher after a restart. The notification level is still set to the same level but notifications are really loud. Changing the notification level doesn't do anything and the only way I can get it back to normal is to restart again, sometimes several times. It did this with Lollipop, Marshmallow and now with Nougat so I wonder if it's an issue with my phone.

I've been having some volume issues since I got my Moto X. When I first got it, the touch sounds used to go extremely loud all of a sudden even though the [Music, video, games, & other media] volume wasn't at the max, I used to just adjust it and then it would go to the desired volume again. This was while on 4.2.2.
After I upgraded to 4.4, this stopped happening, but I started having another issue. When I answer a call, the [Music, video, games, & other media] volume goes down to the lowest position. After hanging up, it shows that it went back to it's original position but sometimes when I go to check, I find out that it's still at its lowest position and have to increase it manually.
Also, one time, the volume of the whole phone went extremely low even though all volumes were at their highest positions. I had to reboot the phone to get proper volume again.
Is anyone else having such issues?
Thanks
Ive noticed since I got my X on Monday that randomly my notification/ringer won't make any sounds. Even if I have it set to the loudest possible setting. When I choose the volume thru the volume buttons the sound when raising or lowering doesnt always work either. I have all the settings correct to make sounds. Could this be a Lollipop thing, or is it my X? Has anyone else had this happen?
Yeah, it's been happening with my device aswell.. no idea what could be the reason, either the Lollipop update or some conflicts with moto apps perhaps? Wish I could fix it.
Bumping this in case someone finds a solution!
I found that if I use the volume buttons to change volumes it goes silent. So I just adjust the volume in the settings/sound to change volume.
I've noticed that the volume takes a step down in certain apps and situations, for instance: whenever I get a notification from whatsapp with the screen both on/off, the volume is rock solid.. but whenever a notification comes through facebook messenger with screen off, the volume is ABSOLUTELY low; meanwhile, with the screen on the volume is fine with both of them. SMS, Youtube and Email notifications are fine aswell (for now).
EDIT: well, it happens randomly even when ringing from a phone call even after adjusting from the settings and not the volume rockers. Gosh, Moto should fix this one asap.
If we had a LED I wouldn't care. I have to keep turning my screen on to see if I have a text msg
A few times now my phone has stopped making notification noises. I can't narrow down the cause at all, it seems a little random but happens at least once a day. A reboot always fixes it, and sometimes just going into the settings and adjusting ringer volume will make it start working again. Does anyone know the potential cause or a fix? I'm using Chroma 5.0.2 and lean kernel.
Every time I notice if I bring the volume down to vibrate only with DND enabled...it for some reason increases the volume to low from vibrate on its own. I always have to change it. It happens during random times of the day without me knowing. I even tried going to the sound settings to enable the volume rocker to only affect the media volume just to make sure it's not me. Still didn't work. Can anyone tell me what may be causing this strange issue?
EDIT: I'm sorry but ignore this thread. I found the culprit...the cause was my Bixby Home Routine. I completely forgot all about it and how I set it up to enable sound when I'm home and connected to my wifi.
Hi I have a problem with my TA-1012, it makes a two tone sound every couple of seconds when the screen is on and I just cannot figure out what is causing it. It's not notification sound and there are no notifications in the log. I think it might be disconnect sound but I'm not 100% sure. The only way to stop it is to go to airplane mode, but turning networks manually does not have the same effect. Power cycling the phone does not help either. It is very annoying and I run out of ideas how to fix it. I want to avoid factory reset but that might be the only option I have left.
I'm running stock Android Pie 9 with the latest update from 2020.
