Friend's Here is the way to set 2nd SIM on 2G only.(As on 2G I feel voice network is much better and battery consumption is pretty low)
1) Deactivate 1st SIM completely.( which I believe generally we use for data)
2)Activate SIM 2 .
3) SELECT Network mode 2G only(instead of. 2G/3G/4G)
4) Now Activate SIM 1, and activate data.
(Network mode now automatic changed to 2G/3G/4G)

Dear All,
I am facing issue in toggling "Preferred network type" after installing GravityBox xposed module. It is stuck at 2G only.
While have written detailed post here at GravityBox [KK] thread, thought of checking with you guys also.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56261909&postcount=12004
Please confirm if you guys can emulate same and confirm if issue is there or not.
Sim 1 is Vodafone which has 3G enabled
Sim 2 is Reliance, no data option
It's ok here.....
Here everything is ok, I can select:
Sim 1: 2G, 2G/3G, 3G
Sim 2: 2G

Thanks for the feedback... Assuming that GB [KK] installed and you are taking about this selection from Quicktiles, pls confirm following:
1) Data enabled on which Sim 1 or 2?
2) Are you actually able to connect to 3G mode - H/H+ icon in status bar?
3) If data enabled in Sim 1, then what is seen at "Preferred network type" 2G or 3G?
Preferred network type can be reached here:
Settings > Wireless & Networks > More ... > Mobile Networks > Preferred network type
1)Sim 1 (Sim 2 cant connect to 3G, just 2G)
2)Yes, H+ when good signal, 3G when not so good.
3)In the device options it's 3G,
but sometimes the "Tile" says 3G/2G - the device options still 3G; this deppends on the network.
I tested this option a lot (Moto G 1 & 2), and the "Smart radio" too, and they worked very well, I just dropped them when I created some profiles in Tasker that took network too.

factory reset would solve your problem
had the same issue (when i used quicksettings toggle),
i did a factory reset and and now i can change 2g to 3g and vice versa
installed gravity box again and everything seems to be working, though i do not dare to use network toggles in quicksettings again.
good luck
I have a dual sim Note5 locked with smart (but suprisingly, it is not really factory locked. I was told that I should place smart on sim1, but i tried just placing globe on sim2 and it still works even without a smart sim). I know that you can only use one (1) LTE sim, so globe is set to automatic, meaning it will be in GSM mode, since Smart is in LTE. Anyway, both sims are set to AUTO (LTE/WCDMA/GSM) mode.
Note that Smart sim1 is in LTE Band 1 2100 and globe sim2 is in LTE Band 3 1800. Both sims are LTE capable, and with existing LTE data plans.
Any way, here is the issue:
I noticed that i could not get a data connection using my smart sim everytime my globe sim is present.
Thus, if I have two sims inserted (smart LTE sim in sim1 and globe LTE sim in sim2, both set to AUTO LTE/WCDMA/GSM), LTE data access on smart (sim1) would work for maybe a minute or two, and afterwards, it would no longer connect to LTE. Even if the phone displays a 4G connection, it does not really connect (after a minute, no LTE connection). Because of no data connection, I would try using my Globe LTE sim (smart on sim1 becomes GSM), and surfing in LTE appears to be continuous, unlike with smart (using LTE in sim1).
When i switch back to surfing using smart LTE (Globe becomes GSM), i can again surf using smart LTE for a minute or less than 2, but eventually it will disconnect. Even if the phone says 4G, i cant connect to the internet.
Today, i removed the globe sim, and it seems that i can already surf with smart LTE, without disconnection of LTE data. I noticed that i can now use LTE continuously (using sim1) after physically removing the Globe LTE sim card.
My question is, is there some form of signal interference between two (2) sim cards, that prevents me from using two (2) LTE sims (both are set to AUTO LTE/WCDMA/GSM, and LTE is in sim1, GSM in sim2) at the same time?
Does the presence of two (2) LTE sims (although one is in GSM mode) affect the LTE data connection?
This is really a strange issue and hope anyone has already encountered this.
using EMUI 5.0 Android 7.0
SIM1 no data, SIM2 default data & 4G
everytime turning off SIM2, default data & 4G will automatically switch to SIM1.
When turn on SIM2 again, need to manually switch data & 4G back to SIM2.
Evrytime turn on & off one SIM, both SIMs will be off & reconnect.
Question:
Is it possible to set default data & 4G in one SIM ? i.e. disable this automatic switching.
Thanks.
I have a french Dual SIM P20 pro (orange). Sometimes (a lot of times), when t take a call by example, the 4G doesnt come back and stays in H+ !
I have to active plane mode and desactivate to have the 4G..... !
No 4g
I have a new hauwei p20 Pro and I'm not picking up 4g in my home area when I should be!?!?!?
Hello
I am at free and when it happen i use air plane mode Quick change to get 4g again
I used to search for carrier but it's quite long
I'm having the same issue,
When i reboot the phone the sim card will not be detected unless i activate airplane mode then off , afterwards the sim will be detected and works fine
I have the dual sim as well
Have a similar problem.
I connect a Wifi network, when you disconnect the network it didn't connect to the 4G. You can turn on and turn off mobile data, turn on and off, Airplane mode, restart the phone, it didn't connect to 4G.
The only solution I get was goint to Settings, Wireless & Networks, Mobile Network, Preferred network mode - change to WCDMA/GSM auto, wait for the conection on WCDMA, then choose back LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto. Then it connect to StarHub 4G network.
Hi,

In Settings / Wireless & Networks / Dual SIM, see that only one SIM (you can choose which) can be 3G/4G
Hence one SIM will be on 3G or 4G, second SIM must be on 2G - but if your operator for that second SIM does not provide 2G you will not be able to use that SIM
In Settings / Wireless & Networks you can disable 4G and in Preferred Network type you can force GSM (2G) only - that way you can test which of the two SIM cards / operators provide/have 2G signal

In Dual SIM Settings you choose one which is 4G, the other will be 2G/3G
Cannot help you more, I have both SIMs 2G/3G/4G, hence no matter how I set, both work
Try playing yourself, test both SIMs one by one only, in one and the other slot, with various settings (4G enabled/disabled, Pref net 4G, 3G, 2G only)
Maybe you have problem with one of the SIM cards or one slot
