[OPINION] CDMA 2.1 mods exhausted - GSM 2.1 mods take the cake

IMHO - the various CDMA mods have done all they can with what they have been given to work with, but the latest GSM mod ported to CDMA (Zen's ROM) best all that has been done to date. Try it and tell me I'm wrong ...
On the other hand, what's up with that?!

how is development for tmobile variant.?

seems like i can get easily a tmobil instead of international one. but how is rom development for this variant.? can anyone tell me thanks.
I think you can see a lot of post here, there is a lot of diferent ROMS... Stock based, aosp, cyanogenmod.. Even the genysis, that has a lot of ported apps from the G5. Besides you can easily unlock bootloader, flash TWRP, custom kernels, and get root access. Honestly, im a happy G4 H811 owner..

new stock based zv6 rom. Work In Progress....

So Im remaking agimaxes stock based rooted rom. thank you agimax thanx links and credits will come soon.
For starters this will be a flashfire flashible rom or more like system.
i will be including viper 4 android, xposed,
this will not be built for speed but better battery.
I will be including a kernal manager dont know which one yet
one i use shuts big cores down after boot. hope to help prolonging the g4 and help stoping bootloop with those of us that are rooted on zv6
i will include a stock carrier folder somewhwere. as i am a gsm user not cdma.
just replace carrier folder with stock to switch back to sprint locked.
I am open to suggestions and ideas. please feel free to comment or post on this
may take a week or 2 as i do work full time. plus a full time garden.
i just got permission to work off a base stock rom and have to get the rest of my permissions in order
so please be calm. and if all else fails smoke one.........
Still a work in progress
Ive been running a few varients ive made so far looking for some of the best tweaks ans setups for speed and batt life
Please note that big cores are and will be offline in this rom if u need them they will need to be turned back on
been haveing issues with unlock on demand. but will keep updated on progress

You are basically complaining for some reason you were not aware you can't get Verizon VoLTE on any non-stock based ROM with this phone. If you searched the ROM thread you would have known that.
Very well known that Verizon VoLTE only works on stock firmware or stock firmware-based ROM. So, far for the only ROM is CF's debloated, tweaked stock-based Marshmallow ROM. (Somewhere in there is the secret handshake and even he doesn't know what it is.)
ZTE recently got Verizon VoLTE to work on a non-Verizon phone (the ZTE Axon 7) and that VoLTE carries over to LOS/CM based ROMs -- but no devs have yet figured out what ZTE did to get it, nor what LOS/CM has that allows it on THAT phone. Marshmallow didn't have it, but their Nougat does.
First off, wasn't complaining, obviously I'm not nearly as smart as you.. there's a lot of talk on the forums for flashing volte, and thought I might have overlooked something. Or didn't have something set right... And I know when the original Droid, original firmware was installed, if you didn't have HD calling on you would loose data.... Thanks so much for your help.....

Not that I'm smart, It's just something we all know. And seriously the information is EVERYWHERE in this forum. Almost every ROM thread has talked about it. Search is your friend in a forum over 2 years old, like this one.
Go read this. It's the most recent complete ROM list for our phones, and it's in the Development section of THIS forum.

What would you say is the most stable rom out there right now? Besides stock obviously.
I'm looking to get Google Assistant via Xposed. Everything was great on Nexus Experience, however I ran into issues getting the Google Now Voice prompt to work outside the Google Now App. =/

If you want Nougat, any of these three ROMS have very high reviews. You can go to those threads and ask questions, and see other Droid Turbo owners.
#2 and #3 are maintained by Droid Turbo owners who use Verizon, if that makes a difference to you. But all three are excellent and many Droid Turbo owners are using all three.
[ROM][All Quark][7.x] Resurrection Remix
[ROM][UNOFFICIAL]AOKP 7.x For All Quark
[ROM][Quarks][LOS/CM 14.1 Unofficial][7.1.x][2016-12-30] (hybrid of CM14 and Resurrection Remix)
However, if you need Verizon VoLTE, then you should go with a debloated, tweaked Marshmallow ROM based on stock Motorola Verizon firmware. See below. It's not Nougat, but right now only stock Verizon firmware or a ROM based on stock Verizon firmware can get Verizon VoLTE on this phone -- until a dev discovers the secret handshake. (ZTE has discovered the secret handshake for Verizon VoLTE. Now a dev just needs to figure out what they did.)
_________
@computerfreek274 has now released a Marshmallow ROM for the Droid Turbo XT1254 based on the Verizon's belated Marshmallow firmware. He has debloated it, tweaked it. It has Verizon voicemail app, Verizon VoLTE (only works on Verizon), Verizon Wi-Fi calling (only works on Verizon), some volume boost, and battery saving tweaks.

@bhb27 tried to make VoLTE work, and got tired of messing with it as he lives in Brazil, doesn't use Verizon and doesn't have a Droid Turbo XT1254. He owns another Quark, the same one I have, the XT1225. He has said some other dev who uses Verizon and has a Droid Turbo needs to figure it out.
As I said above, ZTE has figured it out with the ZTE Axon 7 (it's not even a Verizon phone!) -- but I guess no one has yet taken the time to compare the differences between their Marshmallow and Nougat builds to see what they did.
There was even a thread here in this forum recently about getting VoLTE on custom ROMS, which has gone nowhere:
VoLTE and Advanced Calling on Droid Turbo Custom Roms

I have been watching, waiting, and hoping that someone would figure out and post about being able to use VoLTE or Advanced calling on any of the custom roms (except Computerfreeks), and i am seeing the same scattered information through the forums. I definitely do not have the skills to figure this out, but hopefully some of the skilled developers in this community can post here and work together to figure this out.
I love using a custom rom, and this device is amazing. But the one thing I miss since using @bhb27 custom Resurrection Remix Rom is VoLTE and Advanced Calling.

In that thread, I posted all the detailed info I know about the ZTE breakthrough, but that's basically it.

Need to confirm vzw S8 root available Feb 2018

I lost root on my G4 after the first bootloop repair so I'm looking to confirm that I can root a VZW S8 if I purchase now (Feb 2018).
I can purchase the S7 for $480 or the S8 for $552 directly from VZW spread over 24 payments. I definitely won't be changing carrier (I do a lot of support while on my mobile and need the most reliable connection which is vzw). Is there a way to get the phones for less? I used to go to Amazon and save about $100 but it appears that is no longer offered.
Thanks
no root for VZW S8.

You can root as long as you have a bootloader version 2 or below which I think is the highest they have gone yet. You cannot unlock the bootloader and install TWRP, etc. Look in the S8 and S8 plus ROM forums. Partcyborg has a rooted ROM. Also in the S8 plus Verizon forum there is a rooted ROM by JRKruse.

Yes you can root the process is a little weird there is no twrp..due to locked bl and the battery only charges to 80% a eng kernel thing....But dont be discouraged the dev for root on snapdragon is a Verizon customer And the newest release is awesome you will get better batt life at 80% than stock to 100

Why would it be so much better with just a custom ROM? Are there custom kernels as well?
The 80% limitation is because root has to be used with engineering kernel? Just wanted to get it all straight in my head. My S8 arrives next week.
Yes. It's the eng Kern. Lol that's our custom kernel. The pc rom. Is the only one but with many tweaks to make batt better

Ok, so the only 2 kernels for Verizon S8 are the stock and the engineering stock. I was curious if anyone was able to actually tweak the kernel itself.
Seems like it'd be hard to tweak battery life very much without access to the kernel source. Oh, well! Looking forward to getting my S8... they were so cheap at Samsung last week I couldn't resist.

at 80% charge i average 5.5 to 7 hours sot normally
yea cant tweak the kernel at all....on the PC rom I am ever so slightly responsible for even better batt life I went through nearly every inch of this rom and boot:good:
The newest version of the rom actually uses to combo firmware boot img and not the reg eng kernel so technically there are 3 kernels Rooted basically we have system access....
But it is deodexed and zipaligned...With a load of other tweaks.....
And with every version released it gets better
The biggest thing rooting is you will get errors....
Ignore most of them through the prosses you will see uploadmode errors and unauthorized software detected but ignore them and dont freak out most of them are part of it:good::good::good:
also you need usb 2.0 ports and remember comsy odin is for PC rom firmware only
And reg odin=reg stock firmware

Sounds good... thanks for all the info. Since my phone is factory new, I'll test out pure stock for a while and see if it's good enough.
I rooted my s8 Verizon using PartCyborg rom. Took me 2 tries but it's amazing and worth it

So it's basically a stock/rooted/debloated rom then? It has that "80%" battery bug, but that doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things? Any other bugs or weirdness?
Nope that's basically it. 80% lasts me about 5 hours heavy usage. I personally don't care if it charges to 80 because of the things you can do with root.
