I don't have a note 5 but I don't think no one wants one

That's not a note5... It's an s7 edge.

It's all rumor and speculation, but a picture paints a thousand internet links. This alleged HTC Touch HD is a fullscreen touch device with WVGA (800X480) resolution—essentially taking, say, the Touch Diamond's razor-sharp screen and making it longer. As another metric, if you think the iPhone looks nice, realize that screen runs in 480x320.
Other specs include 528MHz processor, 256MB RAM, 512MB, HSDPA, GPS and just 12mm of thickness. It's supposed to be "in stores for Santa." [Modaco Thanks everyone!]"
Pretty.......

Well that could keep me from the AT&T Fuze...
Here is another one. They don't state the carrier but it will have android on it.

How many different phones is inventing HTC per day.
You buy the newest....ahhhh no it's not the newest anymore since 5 minutes, the newest version just came out .
HTC puts out a lot of phones, I've only posted the ones I thought people in this forum would like (or maybe just the ones I like).
Definitely nice, no discussion on that . Was not teasing you btw !
I'm just fully lost between all these new phones, should make me an Excel table will all specs .
check this one out. Super sexy
CDMA though

I'm not sure if I like the first phone...
The screen is huge alright, but that's also the reason why I prefer my WM phones as opposed to iPhone which I thought it was a bit on the big side (apart from many other flaws).
Also is it me or was the picture taken in a bad angle. The top picture shows a rectangular shape phone. But the bottom picture shows a phone wider on top than on bottom.
I'm not a big fan of phones on that shape. Reminds me of Samsung phones.
The touch HD is got awesome specs, but i need an actual keyboard! maybe things will change when swype is released...

Nexus 5 - New Colors?

http://www.androidcentral.com/new-nexus-5-colors-looking-more-likely-following-latest-leaks
Android Central said:
It's looking more likely this morning that Google and LG could release the Nexus 5 in additional colors, after a flurry of online activity in the past 24 hours. First came videos and pictures claiming to show the new colors in the Google Play Store, though these showed telltale signs of being little more than Photoshop jobs based on existing renders. But since then the first compelling photographic evidence has emerged, and one reliable individual in the smartphone community is saying there's some truth behind the rumors.
Firstly, Vietnamese outlet VietnamNet has today published a photo of a "sample" version of the Nexus 5 in red, adding that it'll become available along with a yellow version in late February or March. The shot shows a very bright shade of red, not unlike the color used on some Nokia Lumia phones, on the back of a Nexus 5 with black accents. While this sort of shot wouldn't be impossible to fake, it looks a lot more like what we'd expect from a red Nexus 5.
Meanwhile MoDaCo's Paul O'Brien tweets that (original) colored Nexus 5 leaks are "nowhere near representative" of the "actual products," saying that there are "surprises to come." And for sure, the red Nexus 5 photo out of Vietnam looks nothing like the earlier renders. We'll have to wait and see what lies ahead, but for now the possibility of new Nexus 5 colors landing in the next month or two seems plausible.

What's your thoughts on this? would you buy a bright red or yellow N5? I, myself, am torn... one one hand, i like the idea for additional colors (beyond just black and white), but on the other hand, the rumored colors are not quite what i'd call stellar choices.

Note 5 after 2 weeks review

Note 5 hands down the best phone i have ever bought.
I came from the note 4. It lasts 4 hours and 30 minutes of heavy usage to 5 hours of screen on time and about 20 hours of medium usage.
The s pen is just a fantastic feature to have.
Let me explain the apps i use with s pen :
- scrap book : with scrapbook. I just smart select any motivational quotes or facebook posts and save them into scrapbook. So I can go directly to the link once i select the screen shot i stored in scrap book. Really great feature to look upon the most intersting and inspiring things you see on internet and just put them into 1 list.
- s notes : the s note is one great feature in the note series. In the note 5 I post all my daily goals and plans and thoughts inside. While adding wallpaper in the backgroubd.
- screen write and scroll capture : with screen write i take screen shots of important and intersting articles and posts to store in scrapbook for later viewing.
- scrolling through the s pen : another nice feature with note I can scroll through web sites by hovering the s pen up or
Down
All of this on the Gorgeiously built NOTE 5. Glass back PREMIUM S Pen. Tottally better than note 4 ugly leather back and for first time s pen feels like a pen not a plastic toy.
Did i mention that its display is large but the phone ts self is so Small! And how eye popping this display is specially when viewing white!
The note 5 simply allows me to store all my thought and notes in one phone. As if its hundreds of really important note books in my hand.
No thing comes close to that amazing phablet.
Only issue is lack of sd card slot but i got over it due to smoothness build quality and fantastic speakers functional beautifully made s pen.
Best of all its getting android noughat with more professional ui. Its 8.7-9/10 for me.
Its the most functional fastest phablet you can get right now. All other phones cannot beat it except 2016 flag ships in obvious camera department.
But if the note 8 takes what is best from the note 5 and improve it. Then i am upgrading and ready to note!
Such a beautiful post and nobody gave a rat's arse to the post. Speaks volumes about how interested people are in this flagship which is still the latest note in 2017 lol.. Why oh why :'(
I agree. I really like the note 5, plan to keep it a few years at least!
The only real advantage for upgrading would be more memory or water proofing right now. (or 4k for mobile VR when that hits)

Flagship? Disappointment!

Note 9 has a lot of good things going for it . . . but a flagship?
Oreo instead of Pie?
No 5G?
Broadcom‘s new super accurate dual frequency GPS chip not part of the package? (Chip introduced almost a year ago and Xaomi’s already released the M8 with this chip)
Remember 2016? The Samsung A9 had a safe 5,000 mAh battery. Why can’t we put this in this note?
Feel free to add to this list of disappointments. Perhaps some of them will be fixed with the S 10?
Would a 5000mah battery in this years Note be a 'safe' marketing move? As a tech enthusiast I'd love to see it, however, I understand why they have played it safe, they need a couple of generations of solid performers without any hiccups before ramping back up. Imagine poor sales vs Note 7 repeat, they can't afford a repeat - I believe the Note would be a doomed product if it happened again.
The latest GPS chip: Samsung recently explained that a highly competitive high end market coupled with a difficulty in adding compelling new features led to poor sales of the S9 group. It's swings and roundabouts, on one hand you could throw everything into your latest and greatest devices, but next year?
Note 9 makes a safe and just about interesting enough entry, it gives Samsung breathing room for next years model. Even the presentation had mention of how difficult it is to come up with new features.
Note 10 - 4500/5000mah battery, 5G, New GPS chip + 1 or 2 more features, makes more sense for a '10' iteration than the '9'.
Technically the Note 8 can support the 1GB speeds. The Note 9 will as well.

5G is not a real tech yet, it's actually called 5G evolution which is a fast LTE which the Note supports.

Personally I think the real challenge that Samsung Has is in the processor. Snapdragaon and Exynos have both seen decent improvments over the years but they don't hold a candle to what Apple has done with theirs. Not sure if they will ever win that battle, but I hope they can get closer.
I also believe that we are all going to be blown away by the S10 when it comes out. Samsung is putting ALL of the new HOT stuff they have been working on - INscreen Fingerprint scanner to name one - and I bet there will be bunch more!
I am getting the note 9, I just can't help myself - I am an addict when it comes to these devices - but I am really excited to see what is giong to happen when the S10 comes out.
You're getting too edgy with this. Pie was not relased during the development and 5g is still far away. Talking about the gps thing even my s7edge gets 4meter accuracy while driving what else do u need? An inch of accuracy!
The only things I wanted, and still hope come true . 1 )flat glass on the screen again, I mean it's a note right, easier to write on. 2) Alcantara case 3) dbrand grip case.
5g is way off, probably 2 generations before wide adoption. GPS has been great since Note 4 so not really seeing the need for that either.

Name one note that released with that years version of android.
Complaining about not being on the latest version of android (that was just released) while ignoring all the added samsung functionality is kind of a short sighted comparison..
Good Discussion

Alltaken123,
I would definitely hire you as a customer service rep for Samsung! You have a plausible explanation for the concerns mentioned and your words are very well spoken. Thank you.
Couple of points to consider…
On the GPS chip: anybody who has walked the streets of Tokyo using any current smartphone GPS knows the frustration when you walk around the block three times because reflected GPS signals keep causing the blue dot to jump 100’s of meters when you think you are at your destination. It would be great to have the accuracy and reflected signal rejection Broadcom’s new chip promises.
On the “in glass fingerprint recognition“ that feature is dubious when a phone has facial recognition & a great back side fingerprint scanner... but it’s something new to hype.
And now my favorite… Larger batteries and the direction the industry has moved towards. Your explanation of Samsung being extremely cautious makes perfect sense and is a likely driver for their decision. That’s said, Samsung’s A9 realeased in 2016 with a 5,000 mah battery had no issues. Because it had a mid tier CPU it truly delivered 2 days of heavy use.
I probably should put this one in a separate thread but here’s the short version of what’s going on with battery capacities: phone makers match their battery mah capacity to approximately one day’s worth of power consumption. Why? Because when you charge your phone every day you’ll end up wearing the battery out within two years. In the “old days with replaceable batteries“ you could extend the life of your phone a few years by changing the battery. Now with sealed-in batteries you are virtually compelled to buy a new $800 electronic monitoring bracelet every two years. Pretty slick from a business perspective. Before someone jumps in and tells me you can’t have a water resistant phone with a removable battery, let me share my experience with phones in the Japanese domestic market. Japanese have had replaceable batteries in many of their water resistant cell phones since the 1990s. All it takes is a good o-ring and a decent latch. Today, however, Japan is “mostly” onboard with the lucrative (albeit wasteful) sealed-in battery scheme.

5g evolution is already in many cities like dfw. And the note 8 supports it. Full 5g won’t be here anytime in the next couple of years.

+1 for the flat glass. I'm not buying any phone with the curved screen gimmick.

Another +1 for USEABLE flat glass....and for recognizing the curve as an artsy gimmick. Narrow 2mm bezels are fine. After all the flesh of one’s hand covers anywhere from 2 to 4 mm of bezel/screen anyway.
Guess I'm the only person that actually likes the curved screen. Function over form is what I always go for.

I feel exactly the opposite. The curve makes edge swipe gestures far more useful, and I have come to rely on them significantly.

Not alone! To be honest I just like the way the curved glass looks... I always found it gave the phone a more premium feel. Given the choice I would still take curved over flat edges, even though I don't even use the Edge features. Purely an aesthetic preference for me, but others of course may have different tastes and requirements.

I like the curved glass screen because of edge display and the edge features. Yes it can be a but annoying with accidental touches but the trade off is worth it for me.
As far as the screen protector issue, that has nothing to do with Samsung. All those screen protector makers are being cheap and stupid. They make full coverage ones with only adhesive on the sides, and they also make case friendly ones with full adhesive. Why the heck can they not make a full coverage one with full adhesive?! Seems very stupid to me that they are having such a hard time making a dang protector that handles both things.

It's only a gimmick if you don't find a use for it. I can think of a lot of people that classifies the SPen as a gimmick. I use the heck out of mine, at least I thought I did until I met a guy that has to replace the tip of his SPen every month! He hooked me up with 3 bags of tips a few months ago after I got my Note 8. I haven't even replaced the tip yet for my original one.
I come to rely Alot on the apps edge since I started using the s7 edge. It helps me switch apps much faster than using the recent button. Well we can have apps That do the same thing but the curve makes it very smooth and natural to use

Excited for the Note 9. Pre-ordered the 512gb already.
What does Android P have that Samsung's Oreo does not have more of?
What's the point of hurriedly introducing 5G when the tech is not yet mature. That would make the Note 9 a beta phone which I'm glad it's not.
I agree with the missing GPS chip.
I also agree with a 5kmAh battery
Overall I'm very happy with the Note 9 and consider it a big upgrade over the Note 8.

Question Where can I get cheap small knock-off S Pens for this phone?

Just search for GALAXY NOTE S PEN and chose the one with the highest rating. I would assume the note 20 edition with a 4.9 score would be good but it might as well be just the same as every previous note pen.
I have tried an original note 9 pen and it works flawlessly.
Bear in mind that buying the cheapest product with a lower score might not be great as the S pen might have low sensitivity. Back in the note 5 days I got me a cheap Chinese knock-off and although it worked, I had to press a bit harder on the screen than I should have had to.
Just 5 minutes ago I went onto Ebay and found a samsung pen for a note 4, for like $2. I'm going to try it and throw it away if it doesn't work well.
The trick was choosing an ugly color that nobody wanted, in my case "coffee" color I guess is not very popular, but the price changed for that color only, the other colors were like $6.
I'm hoping to use this as a temporary thing until Samsung releases the fancy full featured pen.
