Bluetooth Recognition - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have just purchased a Note 5 and am pleased. However, I cannot seem to get the device to recognize any of my Bluetooth toys; a Flip speaker and a wireless earpiece. It simply searches and then I get a message that it could not find any devices. Both these devices are recognized by my Note 2 readily. My modem is functional and the phone has recognized it and is picking up the Internet. All other features of the Note 5 seem OK. Since two Bluetooth devices cannot be “found” by the Note 5, I am assuming I have a setting that prevents it from linking, or there is a defect in the phone of some kind. Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated.

[Q] Bluetooth Issues

Received my Note 4 on Monday 10/13/14. Connected it to my Bluesync DRM, I notice the icon shows connected, however when using any app the sound comes out through the phones speaker instead of my bluetooth speaker and/or Motorola S11-HD headset. A reboot fixes the issue, however this is day 2 and it did the exact same thing.
I was wondering if anyone else has come across this issue with the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 4, or any Note 4 for that matter.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Laptop as bluetooth speakers

I just have a quick question.. and hopefully the answer is quick as well..
I have a Galaxy Note 4 and a Dell XPS 13 early 2015 model. Both have bluetooth so I thought I would use the laptop speakers as speakers for the note 4, but when I paired the devices up, there's no settings for audio...
All I can do is transfer files and like remotely control the note 4 with my computer.
Does anyone have a solution to this? Based on the google research I did regarding my problem, it seems like it is possible, and rather simple. Am I missing a driver or something?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
tried the same thing with my M4800 and nothing worked. I guess the laptop is missing the profile to act as a bluetooth speaker.

Bluetooth problem in Samsung Galaxy Note 5

My new Note 5 (SM-N920I) has problems with bluetooth. I can not connect to my car, nor to my headset. However I can connect to my Sony Vaio and my smarthwatch Gear Fit (although sometimes it is disconnected) .
From what little I could see , there is a problem with bluetooth in Note 5, but still no solution.
Someone knows a solution to work properly ?
Thank you

I had a problem too. I could connect but the range was very short then it would cut out. I replaced it.
With the new one, is rhe problem gone?
Bluetooth overall is much better for me than on my Note 4. I've not had trouble connecting to the six devices I use. There's some funkiness with my Gear S when reconnecting via BT after being connected remotely but that could easily be Gear Manager and not the phone. Range does seem a bit shorter but reconnections are a lot faster and more reliable. BT on any device is a big YMMV because of all the different devices being connected.

Nokia 8 Bluetooth unusable with Airpods. Anyone else?

Just to open with this - I really like this phone and have been enjoying using it. Aside from the fairly poor WiFi range and the flaky NFC it is otherwise a really nice phone. There's just one other issue I have which is extremely frustrating:
I can't use it with my Airpods. Or at least, I can connect it but at some point the sound will crackle and cut off. If I wait it will occasionally crackle and come back on again but will cut in and out in a way that would drive anyone mad. I've tried fiddling with Bluetooth settings in developer options but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I've even tried a factory reset.
The Airpods work absolutely perfectly with every other device - no issues with the iPhone (expectedly) nor the S8, G6 or even my laptop. I can't 100% rule out a fault with the Airpods but given these facts it seems highly unlikely.
I wondered if anyone else used Airpods and had experienced issues and found a solution.
Not too interested if you've had no issues with your device, nor what you think of Airpods - I just want to see if I can get to the bottom of this, or the Nokia will have to go back.
Many thanks
Similar problem
Got a similar problem with my apt-x receiver.
Every few minutes the connection drops for a very short time.
The airpods don't support apt-x, but maybe it's the same problem.
My receiver shows a connection via apt-x, , but you can't find any apt-x support in the Nokia 8 specs.
But I had no problems with a friends portable speaker (non-apt-x).
I went back to cables

I’m wondering if the Nokia 8 just has rubbish connectivity, generally. If the Bluetooth chip is part of the WiFi chip then this would figure as it has the worst WiFi connectivity I’ve seen in recent years
Are you running Nougat or Oreo? From what I've heard, a lot of the bluetooth issues have been fixed in Oreo.

I wonder if yours is wonky, my Wi-Fi is excellent and i get get 75Mbit down 19Mbit up over 5Ghz through 2 brick walls, a floor up and at the opposite end of the house, i have not missed any payments using contactless via NFC and Bluetooth works fine via an Anker Bluetooth speaker and my JBL Bluetooth headphones.
Sorry for digging an old thread, but I still have the same problem even after a bunch of software updates.
My issue with the AirPods is that they do not work after they connect. I take them out of the case, they connect (as expected), but as soon as I start playing something the music/video pauses and the sound switches to speaker (if I press play again it plays out loud). To make them work I need to go to bluetooth settings, disconnect them and connect them again. Then they will work almost flawlessy (minor intrerruption from time to time).
I have no issue with other BT speakers. I also use the AirPods with an iPad and laptop and no issues there.
My Nokia 8 software is up to date. AirPods firmware the same (checked on the iPad).
I tried re-pairing after each software update. I tried changin BT settings (absolute volume - dev settings; contact sharing and HD Audio: AAC) but no improvements.
Any ideas what else can I try?
Search for Oreo and Bluetooth problems. It seams to be a general issue for this Android Version. I have problems connecting my Phone with the car, too.

Issues with multiple bluetooth devices?

I use Remote Phone (https://justremotephone.com) for handeling calls at work. Remote Phone uses bluetooth handsfree profile for the purpose of controlling my phone from the laptop.
When my phone is connected to my laptop with Phone audio, Input device and Contact sharing enabled, it can only connect to my BT headset using Input device and Contact sharing.
When my phone is connected to my BT headset or a BT-speaker with handsfree-support (e.g. my car) with Phone audio, Input device and Contact sharing enabled, my smartwatch (Gear S3) looses Phone audio (or disconnects).
When my phone is connected to my smartwatch (Gear S3) with Phone audio, Input device and Contact sharing enabled, it often fails to register and automatically connect to other known devices.
It would seem that the N8 Sirocco can not connect to multiple devices using Phone audio profile.
I have sendt an e-mail to Nokia support addressing this issue, and will post the answer here.
I'm still on Android 8.0.0, and hopefully this is a SW-problem that is corrected in 8.1.
I'm guessing there is not so many N8 Sirocco owners out there yet, but of the few that is out there, has anyone else experienced similar BT handling issues?
This might not be a problem with the N8 Sirocco, but a problem with BT handling on the Gear S3.....
i have a major BT connection issues with my GEAR s3. It doesnt pair at all. the process gets stuck on the galaxy and stars moving around and saying setting up your device. Any help on how to connect my gear s3?
solution?

Hi MrMastodon. Did you solve the topic? As I have similar issue with Nokia 8 and car BT device + GPS BT tethering...
I completely forgot to follow up, it turns out that the Galaxy Gear is known for causing exceptionally bad Bluetooth-performance when paired with non Samsung devices.. I sold it.
