off topic ??? fox getting my chickens - Sprint LG G4

so since the sprint g4 threads are dead i figured a off topic ? aint in no harm.
so i had 12 chickens at the start of last year and slowly theyve dwindled down to 3 lonely chickens.
i keep em in a shed which is sealed at night
but yesterday i witnesed a fox come outa they woods and attack one of my birds.
so my question whats the best way to deal with it?
shoot the fricker? or trap him im seeing conflicting stories about trapping can be worse cause they dont know the new area theyre released into and upon removal more fox will enter its old territory.
im not all animal activist i just assume sit out back and shoot it
gotta love vermont in usa. no carry permit required old timers all over john waynein it pistols on their side .
whats ure guys opinions on this?

almost 2 year old daughter has melanoma and needs your prayers...

Sorry to post bad news but it's my daughter and I want to get as many prayers as possible.
She's not even two and is undergoing her second surgery in an attempt to fight off Melanoma.
I typically don't bother people with things like this but it's for my daughter. If it was for me, I wouldn't even bother.
As you can guess, I'm a mess. She's Stage IIIc currently and it could go either way.
Thanks in advance for your prayers.
Please spread the word.
EDIT: If you could reply here so I know how many people are pulling for her....even if you don't pray...that will help.
How this started: She was born with a type of birth mark on her back called a nevus. At her age the doctors told us it's more of a cosmetic decision to have it removed. I listened. They said that in older kids there is a potential for cancer but not in her age group....very rare. They advised that we wait until she was 2 years old to remove it if we decided to go that route, so we waited. Little did I know that it would turn into this. My advice is to remove any threat to your child even if there is a .000000000000000000000000000000000000001% risk...it's never worth it. Lesson #1, I wish I would have been more vain and said that "thing" has to go immediately. Well, all was going fine then one day we noticed that an area of the nevus started to change. We made an appointment at the specialists and it took a while to get her in. No one thought it was a threat but they wanted to do tests. We took her in and they took a piece and sent it to the lab. MISTAKE/LESSON #2...if there is any threat to your child...tell the doctors NOT to take a little piece and examine it...tell them to TAKE THE ENTIRE THING then do what they need to do, not leave pieces behind that could yield further issues. If they would have taken the entire thing out, the risk would have been greatly reduced. The longer you leave cancer cells in your body the worse it can become. After the tests came back as positive for cancer they immediately scheduled the operation to have it and a significant area around it removed for further testing. That happened, the rest of it went off to a lab and the perimeter came back with no cancerous cells. They also took out a few lymph nodes but those came back positive for cancer cells. As soon as those results came back she went back in for her second surgery.
Update: 09/14/2008. People have been asking me so I'm posting an update. She's undergone two surgeries. The second was to remove additional areas of potential threat and also all the lymph nodes under each arm. The cancer could have spread to these lymph nodes and they had to remove them in case it was contained there. I'm praying it was. As for how she's doing now, she has 4 drain tubes to drain fluids from her body while she recovers. One under each arm and two on her back. As the doctors explained, after surgery there are voids where the body tries to fill with fluid and they need to keep that fluid from settling. She had a couple of bad days with pain from these tubes that are going into her body but the past couple of days she's been doing wonderful. We have to stay on top of her to ensure she doesn't hurt herself. Right now the lymph nodes that were removed have been sent off for further testing and we should have results back sometime next week. She also starts cancer treatments next week in an attempt to cut off or delay any further manifestations in her little body.
Update: 09/17/08. We just got back from the doctor. Got the 4 drain tubes and "bulbs" removed so now she can move more freely and with less supervision. I can also go back to a normal sleep routine since I had to sleep with one eye open to ensure she didn't tangle herself with the plastic tubes when she turned in bed during the night. Big relief here. She also had her CT scan of the brain. We had the surgeon pull the file up as a favor and he said it looked okay BUT that he was not a neurologist nor was the scan officially reviewed yet so we continue to pray and soon we start the aggressive therapy...Interferon Alpha2b. Many side effects but nothing worse than cancer spreading so it's worth the ride for all involved. We now wait for the official results to get back to us and the results of all the lymph nodes that were removed in the second operation. Thank you all and keep praying for her no matter the faith you believe in and if you don't believe in any God please think positive thoughts for my little girl. I'm not too proud to beg when it comes to my child.
Update: 09/17/08 #2. Just got an e-mail from a doctor at the hospital. The results from the lymph node tests came back all negative and the nodes removed during the second operation had no cancer. This is great news for me and my family because statistically it puts the odds back in her favor. We're still moving forward with periodic scans of all her major organs and the cancer treatment, which we're starting next week. Keep praying for her people and thank you....thank you.....thank you!!!
Update: 09/23/08. All is positive but will be getting a little bad for her for the next year. She starts Interferon therapy on Monday. It's going to be an interesting year. Again, thank you all for your continued support. You have no idea how much it helps.
Update: 10/11/08. Thank you all for your continued support. She's not finished her first 2 of 52 week treatment. The first 4 weeks are the worst but she's actually doing extremely well. The only side effects she's demonstrated were high fever the first two days of treatment which we quickly got under control with a Motrin and Tylenol routine and her being more tired because we have to wake up extra early to be at the hospital every single day for her treatment. The first 4 weeks we have to be at the hospital anywhere from 3-7 hours for her treatments. She's doing extremely well and i'm still praying that this treatment is not necessary and that the cancer never made it past her lymph nodes into her body. This treatment doesn't really cure anything...it just prolonges the time before relapse. If the lymph nodes contained it then we're good. After the initial 4 weeks, we start giving her injections three times weekly at the house. This is going to be easier on her as she'll be able to start sleeping in again and taking her naps on time. Her eating habits are a little off as well because the treatments give you a bad taste in your mouth. Luckily for us, we're fortunate enough to be able to cook up a choice of dishes for her keeping her eating. She's gotten picky about what she eats but we're giving her enough choices to keep her eating. We're trying to avoid avoid weight loss which is one side effect but it's typically a result of patience not wanting to eat because food just doesn't taste as good. Kids at this age don't know to eat because they have to until they are starving when stuff like this happens...unless daddy feeds them some of the best Fajita's in town or a savory steak. We have two more weeks of the "hard" treatment and then it eases up on her body a bit because the dosage is reduced for the remaining 11 months.
Update: 10/25/08. Thank you all yet again for your continued support. We've finished the month long daily treatments of heavy interferon dosage. She actually had two small side effects out of all the scary stuff and although we still have 11 more months of treatments that could yield some nasty side effects, she pulled through the heavy part like a champ. Of the 30 days she had 2 with fever which we brought under immediate control using Tylenol and Motrin and then she would get a little flush in the face a few other days but a hydration solution through the portacath in her chest fixed that right away. We had some long days at the hospital and i'm thankful that my customers are understanding. It's been tough but worth the fight and the entire family remains strong. Little Alessandra seems to be the strongest of the bunch, LOL. The grandmothers missed a lot of work because we didn't want to take Alessandra's little brother to the hospital for the long days so they stayed at the house until we returned from her treatments then they shot off to work. Friday was the last day of heavy treatments and now we start treating her at home by giving her three shots a week. We still have to monitor her for side effects, continue to take her in for regular scans of her organs to see if cancer pops up anywhere, and watch her skin to see if there are ANY changes. All in all a small price to pay if the cancer never manifests itself again. I think we've made a decision to remove every mole on her body once she goes back in for the, I hope to God, final surgery. The melanoma can manifest itself in moles much easier than in other areas of the skin and considering what she's already been through, I'm not leaving ANYTHING to chance. Some may think I'm crazy and this may be going too far but you wouldn't understand until you went through this. The odds of her having to go through this were astronomical but it happened. I'm not leaving it to chance and as another member in the forum reminded me, drastic times call for drastic measures. Again, thank you all and I will continue to keep the thread updated for those interested in our fight.
Thank you all for your continued support. She's tough and fighting it with a strength that is incredible for someone her age. BTW, she's now officially 2 years old.
Update: 11/25/08. Yesterday/Monday we took her to the hospital for a check up. Had ultra sounds done on the areas where they removed the lymph nodes and a chest x-ray. Thank God nothing was present. All tests came out clean and we're moving forward to enjoy our Thanksgiving Holidays. One thing we've taught Alessandra to do was pray. She enjoys it and now is old enough to join in and even ask us to pray with her. She looks like a little angel when praying, putting her hands together and bowing her little head while we all pray together. Thank you all for your continued prayers. Keep my little daughter in your prayers, positive thoughts, etc. it's working. She's a very strong little girl and is making it through all the shots and scans and pokes of her little body. No child should ever have to go through this but if they do they should with a loving family and as many prayers as possible. Thank you all for doing your part in helping us with this fight. Again, no matter your religion thank you in advance for your prayers. I have word that people all over the planet are praying for my little girl. Hundreds of churches of all religions and literally thousands (maybe tens of thousands) of people in many different countries are praying. Thanks again!
Update: 12/17/08. Last Saturday we had to take the little one into the emergency room. She had something swelling bad where the scar is from her last surgery. They did an ultra sound and found fluid and also some mass. Thursday/tomorrow we're schedule for her third operation. They want to go in and remove this immediately. They will run tests and determine if it's a reoccurance of her cancer or just the way that area healed. I'm praying that it's not cancer and that it just healed weird and caused the swelling. Thanks again everyone for your continued support.
Update: 12/28/08. The operation was good and she was out the same day. The results came back and it was more cancer. Not good. Over the holiday weekend we noticed another lump swelling on her back. It's most likely more cancer. On Monday we go in for entire body scans CT and PET. I'm praying and hoping to God that this is only isolated in those areas and once removed it's over with and that it's not in a major organ. Just thinking about it is the most painful thing I've ever experienced. Thank you all for your continued support and prayers. She needs that more than anything right now. We'll most likely be scheduling another operation to go in and remove the new lump from her back this week. Will make it her 5th operation within a 12 month period. All I can say is I wish it was me.
Update: 01/02/09. The CT came back clean but the PET found another tumor in addition to the one we visually detected. Doctors ordered an Ultrasound which initially confused me. I figured why an Ultrasound when we already did a CT and PET? Well, i'm glad we did. We noticed that the lump that was visually detected was actually two very close together. The Ultrasound gave everyone a more clear picture. I'm learning a lot more about this disease and will one day try to setup a website to help others. There is a lot of knowledge that i've gained that I haven't read about on any other website and all the sites basically tell you the same stuff over and over. It's good info but it's not good for when you're already in the fight. You need a new set of rules and data when battling this monster and maybe one day i can put it up to help others...one day after my daughter is done fighting and maybe she can even help me. Meanwhile, I sit at the hospital for the operation. They were initially going to go in to do "clean up" from the previous operation and remove the three additional tumors found. I spoke to the surgeon and told him I wanted to do more. I wanted to remove more of the "left over" lymph "channels" to avoid a reoccurance. I let him know that the disease is betting more aggressive and I wanted to do the same. He immediately called in the plastic surgeon that he had on standby and jumped right on the idea after consulting with another oncologist. She's now in there and it might be another 4-5 hours before she's done. No matter how many times I've been through this with her, I can never avoid crying when they take her from my arms and into the operating room. I just sit and wait now and pray all is going well and that this might be the last operation she'll ever have to endure. One thing I know for sure, this family will be unstoppable when we win this fight because the strength gained from this battle is not going to be taken for granted.
Now...i've gotten a lot of PM's offering help from users that have gone through cancer, from doctors that use the forum, from users who knew someone with cancer and even those just extending their best wishes but i was never really too sure what kind of help I could get for my daughter but now I know one thing that can help us greatly. Please continue your prayers...Muslim, Christian, Islam, whatever....please pray for Alessandra. Second, I know that best way to fight this is early detection so I ask the doctors and people that have been through this and those that know anything....help me by letting me know of any cutting edge medical scanning technology, etc. The CT and PET and Ultrasound are all great tools. There are also the 3D and even 4D Ultrasounds. I want to hear from you guys because I'm about to set appointments to get her entire body scanned with an Ultrasound. I know this will only catch stuff close to the surface and doesn't work well detecting tumors deep in her body, if i am understanding all of this correctly and please note that I haven't had much time to research it fully yet. For anyone out there that knows anything about this stuff, I have the following questions:
- Is there anything more advanced and higher resolution than an Ultrasound? From talking to the doctors it seems the Ultrasound can detect smaller "objects" than a CT or PET would be able to and it seems like the Ultrasound had a more "clear" view of the items. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
- Are there any other technologies that can be used to scan for cancer instances that a PET/CT/Ultrasound might miss?
- Has anyone heard of any other ways of detecting melanoma cancer once it's in the lymph nodes and even in the body once it gets past the lymph nodes? Other than scanning with the PET/CT/Ultrasound and waiting for a tumor to be large enough to show up?
- Any chemical detection methods available? I read that some cancer produces certain protein markers that can be detected very early via blood tests. Does anyone know of something similar for melanoma?
- The Interferon treatments she's undergoing might or might not be working. Has anyone heard of any available treatment for someone her age when Interferon doesn't work for melanoma cancer? I heard the Mayo clinic has alternate treatments but when I called the doctor wouldn't talk to me and insisted I go see them. All I wanted to know were questions to plan my trip accordingly like: Can it be administered with Interferon? If not, how long after the Interferon treatment finishes can the alternate treatment begin? What are some side effects, if any, of the alternate treatment? How long would the alternate treatment last for? All of these questions were so I knew what to expect, how to plan for it and how long we would be undergoing treatment. What really pissed me off is that the doctor wouldn't even answer questions through her assistant. Pretty damn petty and business like when a little girl's life might be at risk here. I know there might be protocol but hell, sometimes protocol needs to be circumvented when it's petty and someone's life is at risk...give me a ****ing break.
So if anyone has any knowledge they would like to share please do so in reply within the thread. Your response might help someone else that hasn't had time to post something like this or prefers to be more private than I'm being.
Thank you all again for your support and for any help you may give here for my daughter and for anyone else going through this.
Update: 04.20.09. The fight against the cancer continues. My daughter is hanging in there. She currently has three-four tumors. One was removed this week for a special trial that we've enrolled her in. She's undergone Interferon and Interlukin-2 treatments. I feel that the Interlukin-2 had an effect on the cancer and we're going to revisit it but right now it's time for more aggressive treatments. A friend of the family has put up a website that's not 100% done. I see AstainHellBring posted it and I thank him for that. I'm going to post more details there and what we've gone through. I hope this new site not only helps my family but also other families going through the same thing. There is so much miscommunication and things they dont' tell you that I want to communicate, it's crazy. Things that you need to prepare for but either they are affraid to tell you or they just don't know. Thank you all for your continued support for my daughter. I'll post more info later.
Can't post updates here...message too long so posting to the end of the thread again.

[App] Stop Smoking

I have developed my first app. Its just a couple pictures: one for landscape and one for portrait mode It shows a Healthy Lung then shows a Smokers Lung with 1800 number
I know it isn't much but I am NOT a developer but a Graphic Designer screwing around with Eclipse...lol
Just thought i would post...
http://www.randumaccess.com/stopsmoking.apk
(right click and save as....)
By the way I am a smoker...lol
smoking rules
I just lit one up as i saw it, thanks man lol
mmmmm nicotine *drools* *click* mmmmmm
ok so i'm not the only one that decided they needed a joint *cough* i mean cigarette when i saw this
Well i was going to join the circle but the app won't install for me (something about it wants to replace another application?!) probably a good :cough: thing tho :cough:
have they started putting pictures like this on the side of cig packets anywhere else other than the UK? you look at it, think "****, thats horrible" then light up regardless. pics don't put you off in the slightest
but nice effort, even if it wont work
Stupid app I am getting really tired of non smokers dictating what us smokers can do in my state thanks to the stupid non smokers you cant own a business and let people smoke there if you choose to and thats total bs.We already have tons of anti smoking ads and commercials dont need a stupid app too!

Uhhhh... the app is pointless as I AM NOT a programmer i was just messing around...
Did you read my post???
I SMOKE... DUH!
I was being stupid messing around in eclipse!
Next time learn to read!
Your getting all worked up over stupid ads and non smoking campaigns... the stress will kill you faster than those cigarettes...lol
Hi,
There is no better time to quit smoking than today. You are able to start now towards making the changes you need in your life to move forwards and leave cigarettes behind. You'll find a way to quit smoking that works for you and works right now. You deserve to find a way to stop smoking that's easy and pain free.
Hi,
I am planning to quit smoking from 6 months. But not able to quit the habit. In fact quitting smoking is one of the hardest thing to do. But I know smoking is bad for health.

You know smoking is wrong and by looking at how mad you got, I can bet you are one of those who throw that unhealthy, smelly , breath-cutting smoke to other people's faces and smokes around sick people and children just for the sake of I dont even know... Smoking not only kills you, if it doesn't, it ALWAYS causes people to smell bad, sort of like u died, got putrefacted and then u were brought to life... (you dont notice that cause u already got used to stink like that) plus yellow teeth that noone likes to see..and awfully bad breath..enough reasons to which u and any smoker should consider to stop smoking
Hi,
To change your life, you have to struggle. Just do what you can do for you to stop smoking. Try not to rely on commercial products that attempt to solve this issue such as gums, sprays or patches. Stopping smoking is a decision made by your heart and mind and not by pressure.
Think of what quality of life you can get if you stop smoking, of course it is much better than the quality of life of a smoker which ultimately would lead to nothingness. Make your life meaningful and quit smoking.
Ok first off i want to say i don't smoke but wait don't flame me yet...
Second i swear to god i can't stand all these stop smoking laws. I actually miss the smell of smoke. ok not in morning when waking up but i like it call me weird. And for all those who they b!tch about you should stop in public just do what i did. Tell them fine ill smoke since you don't want cancer but you need to leave i don't want my eye blinded by having to look at you.
i gotta say, i smoke a lot, but i am usually pretty polite about it, if i go out to eat and happen to go to a bar(the only place that still allows smoking) then i am going to smoke, if you(non-smoker) come over into my area though and complain about my smoke bugging you or ask me to stop smoking, i will make it a point to blow as much smoke in your face as possible, i will chain smoke a pack just to blow the smoke on you. on the other hand, if i happen to sit near a non smoker i will find a different place to sit. smokers and non smokers should live in harmony, and i do not think it is right that most every state has some stupid law now about smoking. in chicago you can't smoke within 15 feet of a building, not just the door but the building itself, they want you to stand in the middle of the road to smoke now(and they are trying to ban smoking in cars)
anybody here got a light?

Giving Up Smoking

Hi Guys,
Just wondered how many of you have tried giving up smoking and what methods you may have used? (whether succesful or not)
I am currently using an electronic cigarette (contains non of the carinogenics) and have managed to have no real ciggy's in 7 days. - and also have no disire to have one!
I have dropped the cartridges down to the medium nicotine from High and am still doing well! after a few weeks I will move to the Low and no Nicotine cartidges.
this is the most positive try I have had at cesation to date
Cheers
Rosebud
My new girlfriend told me she was not going to kiss me if I didnt stop chewing. seems pretty effective to me!
Hi Mike, Good to know I'm not the only person trying this route!
I am looking at ecigs as a short term solution, but I am too finding myself using it more than I would normally smoke!
I am going to continue reducing my intake and make my way down to the zero nic carts planned for a couple of months time, I figure that in the short term, even tho still not great for me the e-cigs are a better alternative, for a start they contain over 3000 less chemicals
I am already seeing some benefits, I am more awake, I have more colour in my face??!, I have the obvious benefits too, (Dont smell, etc etc...)
the first few days were hard, and I knew I was missing something else other than the nicotine, but I am now used to them
My long term plan is not to smoke at all, Me and the wife are looking at having another expensive habit ( A baby) in the next year or so, and we dont want to be smoking parents, I for one had smoking parents and feel this is probbably a part of why I smoke (and really enjoy it too )
I´m having a hard time with cigarretes also
Wanted to quit but no success till now...
Never heard of e-ciggies, I´ll find out more of them

Orb, there is a lot of info online - google e-cigarette-forum
I found the site has a lot of info.
I know it has only been 1 week, but I would certainly recomend them (I have never gone this long with gum, patches, lozenges etc)
Cheers
Steve
me neither...
I cant leave that thing...
You know when I saw somebody that get a cig starts to smoke even in the tv i feel that i want to smoke too. I can manage to avoid do it in that case.
After the meal... sometimes when I awake at the morning, I smoke.
When its cold...
When i have nothing to do or im just walking on the streets i need a cig.
or when i saw any of my family smoks just fro the meaning of smoke or a nice spoken... i need to smoke.
and the last one... when i need to read a lot of forums here i need a cigarrete
My boss on my job told me one day long ago... i had that vicious thing on my life... but when my first child borns i leave it, it just need to have 2 big balls and hold it tight to void smoke again. thats all you need, guts to leave it.
Im smoking right now BTW

p.d. Paisa ya no fumes!
well i might not be very experienced with cigs as most of you guys may be......
but still i managed to quit
i was 17 when i started smoking regularly
it went on increasing for a year or so
all it took to stop me is my girlfriend and sis who always shouted at me when i used to smoke
and a few nicotine gums for a month or so
i suggest you guys to go for nicotine gums rather thn e cigs they are a lot safer and they really help
(havent smoked a cig for about 3 months now and even stopped using nicotine gums)
smoked 14 years, and dropped it now... just dropped, no need e-cigs, gums and etc.. just stop smoking it easy. And now i feel myself maany better.

Unfortunately already tried gum, and lozenges, and inhilator, and patches, and cold turkey, as you can tell from the creation of this thread none of these worked for me.
I believe there is no "one size fits all" solution to quitting smoking.

mayeb then try to have someone to shout on you everytime you smoke(like sis ,gf,mom, wife)
girls are good at this
they will surely help you quit
it might be irritating but atleast will make you think twice before you smoke
hell yeah!
sad but true
9 years & 3 months ago my wife told me she was pregnant with our first child.
I stubbed out the ciggy I'd just lit, crushed the almost full pack I had, and haven't touched a ciggy since. All you need is sufficient incentive and willpower. eCigs, patches, gum, they can help with the symptoms of withdrawal, but they ALSO drag out the process.
Cold turkey lasts about 2 weeks tops. It's not nice; you'll be irritable and difficult to live with, but it worked great for me.
After about 2 weeks of not smoking, you'll discover some things.
* Smell. You sense of smell is seriously affected by smoking. Once your system is clear of it, you'll discover a world of wonderful aromas.

I quit 5 years ago, I even have constant nightmares about smoking again. The gum, patchs, etc help to smooth over the initial shock of quitting, but you really really really have to want to quit. You have to hate cigarettes and truely not want to smoke them.
I found myself bargaining with myself.. "oh one now and never again" or " one now and then when I'm older I will go back to smoking".. The answer had to be NO NO NO NO NO NO NEVER AGAIN..
Good luck folks, set yourself free
i quit smoking 3 years ago and since then never looked back and felt a need. Its quite easy to quit, but you have to have will power and determination. And mind it when you feel that you want to quit, never run for a last drag, then just quit.
I quit several years ago. Tried first not smoking at all, but two weeks later I was in hell. Then I tried gradually with simple goals like today I'll only do 5, then today I'll just do one, and so on. Until it was like today I won't smoke but I'll have 2 tomorrow. Currently I don't smoke, but I can have 1 cigarette socially from time to time, though I don't really enjoy it that much anymore (because of the smell).
I've just quit cold turkey 59 days ago. The first 4 were critical. After that, all went well. It's just a matter of will. Take it as a test: could you or could you not?
I had been smoking for 25 years, ever since I was 13, and tried everything. And I do mean everything, short of resting on my head, upside down for 30 days. Have tried the gum, the patches, etc. etc.
The solution that I found that works for me, but maybe not for many is Chantix. I was taken a little aback by the price of it. It was $120 dollars for a months prescription. (I used it for 4 months and am completely cigarette free for almost a year now.) And I am a Pharmacy Technician and work at a chain pharmacy!! The problem is, many insurances just does not cover it yet. But when you think about it -- at the minimum 1 pack of cigarettes per day is roughly $3-$4. Multiply that times 30 days = $120. So for me, it was worth it.
Chantix works with certain receptors in your brain. When you smoke, these "pleasure" receptors are active and therefore you get a reward response for smoking. Chantix blocks, fewer then more with continued use, these receptors. So without the receptors being active your body says "whats the point", and doesn't desire nicotine, and smoking. Now, besides the price, there is one pretty big con in the pros and cons of Chantix. You WILL have strange and VERY intense and vivid dreams while sleeping. At times scary, at other times just confusing. This interfered with my sleep a lot, but after about a month they started to be more normal. Granted, this might not have been from the Chantix, it could have been withdrawal from nicotine. I mean, nicotine is a drug.
No course will work for everyone, and you really have to have the desire and willpower to quit smoking. Honestly, I think another reason for my success is that I didn't want to go back to having the dreams again.
Good luck to all that are quitting, and believe me, it is really worth it. I can actually taste food again, smell nature around me, save $120 bux a month, hopefully live longer, breathe better, and have a lot, LOT, more energy.
I quit about a month and a half ago, smoked for 26 years. I'm using that pill chantix, and it seems to be working.. I haven't had a smoke, and I haven't killed any one, and haven't had the urge to kill.. yet. <evil grin>

Smoking? Duh! It's very dangerous to our health. But why do others take it as a habit? They are crazy! It does nothing good to our life.

well there are many reasons which would make someone start smoking
like being a cool kid in school to using cigs as stress busters
and here in india we(college/school students) generally smoke to supress sleep to study and perform well in exams(there is a large group that does it just for being cool though)
there have been times when i had to study for more than 30 hrs at a stretch
so at those times you really dont have any option rather than to smoke
(studying in india is harsh you REALLY have to work hard to stay in the competition)

Almost got stabbed to death. (near death experience?)

Hey guys.
Something horrible happened to me today.
Here goes: Me and my other two friends, Adrian and Argelio were riding our bikes for like an hour outside. We rode everywhere and had no problems with anyone.
We turn at a school where we see a group of 5 kids all dark clothed and looking a little cholo. We ignore them and I'm just talking to my friend when suddenly we all hear the word ******. I just laughed and said "I love you too" they stop and all of them turn around and said something so we just ignored them. About 50 feet away now from them we were about to turn the corner and I decide to scream "I love you too" because all I was hearing was talking and screaming from them. WE suddenly see two of them on a bike and one running. Towards us.
We start peddling faster and like another 100 feet from them.......the damn bike chain gets loose so my friends are on their bikes and I have to run like 1/2 mile to my house with the damn bike on my side. My heart was pounding and I just kept running. We go to my house and this time I call my sister out thinking she might know some of them....turns out they're all in gangs and had knifes with them so I told her if she could come with us and talk to them....we went again and found them at a park...all of a sudden my sister and my friends all say.."RUN!" They want you so run, don't look back, they're gonna kill you. I started laughing and thinking "THIS ISN'T REAL" So I stayed thinking I could confront them and try to talk but one of them was just running at me saying. "Come on 1 on 1 pu**y, come, right here right now b*tch. I said, "I just wanted to say Hi" Now I though to my self ...Do I wanna live or get jumped and get rushed to the hospital....LIVE So I took all of my friends' advice and just rode. Luckily I run track and cross country so I had wayy more stamina than them..I go around the neighborhood and hide at home for a while....you might be thinking but cant you 10th grade friends beat them up?....no there was only 1 my age and the rest of my friends were like 12 year old because my real friends are lazy and play black ops......So they are no use to me in helping....
My friends and sister came back and told me "Alan you lucky son of a b*tch, my homeboy AJ called of his homeboys to chase you" "Your never bike riding without me"
So instead of what she said because it's confusing so I'm gonna tell you what she told me..
They were planning on all 3 of them jumping me..they all had knives and were probably gonna leave me dead in the street and flee themselves..
one of them (the one that was talking to me and wanted to fight me) has already killed 1 and was just released from jail...he is about my age and got kicked out of school because of all his gang stuff and smoking weed in the bathroomm
the second - AJ- he's on parrol and got kicked out of school too--he's 14
the 3rd Isaiah is some weed smoker that has been on probation and got kicked out of school too...
My sister then told me how as soon as they learned I was her brother they stopped.....and said if they ever saw me again..I better watch my back....
I'm not really scared...
They just freaked me out because they were horrible looking mexicanss
Well thats it!

Why don't you get help from the nearest adult? Don't go get your sister, lol. Stop at the first door and ask an adult there for help.
I'd love to be sipping on a Miller watching Top Gear and some little kid bangs on my door for help! Seriously tho. Its the best thing to do, since that person will probably immediately call 911(or batman) and then you'll have all the help you need.
trolololol
Where do you live? Zacatecas?
gangsta wannabes dont mess with satanist or people who look satanic so i've never really had to deal with them so you might want to wear more black

This has happendd a couple times to us. We've had the local gang "get off" on us and oh man is it a scary experience. Being outnumbered, outaged and having to defend your own. My best friend has had a knife pulled at his stomach, I've almost gotten jumped for a blue bike. My advice is don't let them intimidate yOu. Next time some confronts you if they're unarmed don't say anything back, take flight immediately. Use all your brute force and aim for his jaw. His buddy's won't do a dam thing trust me on this one.

Yeah well not gonna lie I'd be more scared of a ghost also...

Ah, the experience...
First of all, having a knife is pointless and gets you into more trouble than it's worth with school authorities.
Secondly, I fight dirty. Jaw? Please, the groin is more reachable.
Thirdly, and I don't teach this enough, is to learn to sacrifice your off-hand (left, as usual) to displace the opponent's weapon and groin him hard with your knee. Learn to deal with downward stabs, upward stabs, and swings. A weapon is useless at closer to arms-length, and that is great reason to learn Krav Maga or Muay Thai (I know a bit of the latter).
Fourthly, don't pick a fight you can't win.
My worse experience was being ganged up by a bunch of kids my age. About six of them, I believe. They circled me in the park and hit me from the back. In the end, I chased one of them down and beat him to a near pulp. His friends decided that running away from me and hitting my back was preferable to fighting directly, so I chased the slowest of the bunch and trashed him. Of course, they never bugged me again.
Another experience with knives was when I used my right hand (wrong hand) to fight off a knife attacker. Bled all over the place despite him not hitting an artery. Apparently, I broke his wrist and cracked his skull over the incident. As usual his friends left him high and dry when it got tough.
I'm from Argentina, and, just for the record, living here it's like being a marine in Irak, but, maybe, without the AK47 and all the Lady Gaga stuff XD

Punk(s) deserved it. Of course, I whined like a baby about my injuries after the fight, but during?
Sweet sweet adrenaline and natural painkillers.
Of course, I've mellowed a lot since then.

Off Topic: MoMo Challenge

Hows everyone doing tonight!?
I've been on XDA for about a year now...and I don't post really at all, because I like sitting back and learning from all you who actually know what your doing !!!
My question is about the MoMo Challenge.
Reason being- My 7 yr old daughter has seen it pop up 3 different x's. On seperate shows. And now....she cries and covers her ears and runs and hides anytime this stupid [email protected]$! Is brought up.
She wont sleep in her own bed (which is getting old! ), she wont go into a room if the lights are off, she no longer wants to watch YouTube ( which I'm actually happy about - but I wont say that to her!), but this jackass is earning a extra special place in my cold blooded heart.
The simple fact that -whoever this is- is going after kids- targeting little kids who have no idea whats going on and dont want to see mommy or daddy get hurt, makes me angry.
So the question is....why have they not found the maker of the videos. Is it really that hard to trace back to its source? I swear I seen a app for it!!! Any knowkedge would ve greatly appreciated !
I call shenanigans. Momo is/was a hoax.
Cool story though! :highfive:
The only Momo that i recognise are Nepali Steamed Dumplings, which are delicious.
@booogermam
So I heard the news say the same thing. I dont know how that's a hoax. A hoax is like what Orson Wells was able to achieve. The story aired as a radio news cut in (breaking news) on a regulary scheduled radio show.
This cut into a episode of Peppa Pig. And tells children ( ages 4-10) , how to correctly slice their wrists proper to achieve maximum damage. Another short disturbing interuption, telling jids to go to the medicine cabinet and swallow pills, also happened during a peppa pig short.
And what of the 3rd which happened during a completely different show? Telling kids that they should poison their parents. In each apparently they tell kids not say anything to anyone, cause if they did they would never see their parents again.
My understanding of a hoax, is to deceive a person, or group of people, whether as a joke, prank, fraud, deception to achieve a hysteria or frenzy. I'm from NJ ....the legend of the Jersey Devil , whether you do or dont believe in supernatural is considered to be a hoax, Bigfoot, loch Ness monster. Ive never heard of a hoax that gives specific instructions to kill yourself, no matter what age, or to hurt, harm, kill others....with a stipulation that if the rules arent followed other members of a family would be abducted, harmed, or killed.
When the mofia or Gangs do that.....its a federal crime. Conspiracy, manslaughter (murder wont stick because they arent personally doing the violent crime) as an accessory to the fact , and insighting a riot even (I'm not a lawyer but have my fair share of lawyers! Lol), But this ,again is called a hoax? How so?
My last question is it was mostly/ largely and to my knowledge only found on two shows...both of which were thru youtube kids. So kids who are 10 and under are the target of a "hoax"!?! It sounds a lot like bull**** to me!
I think the videos slipped passed or werent checked by you tube. They uploaded them. The videos emerge, kids get freaked out, parents talk, emails got sent, and to save their add for not doing what they said they do, found them- removed them...and came up with the ingenious idea of calling it a hoax because now no one can find the videos. My wife found one....its pretty creepy
And as the father of a.7 and a.2 year old. If my kids.did something to themselves becuase of it. I would do everyrhing I could to find that guy......
But my actual question for XDA is....because I know theres so many ppl here that know their stuff. I mean its the reasin I'm here....I want to learn from the ones who know- the ones who honed their skills, or their craft , to such a high level- in hopes that it rubs off- and I learn the way it works properly.
????: " How hard, or is it even possible, to catch the person who made the video, through I dont kow , reverse engineering?? Like what has to take place in order to find out where that embedded video came from???
Sorry for long winded post....bad habit of mine.
But the last one ...is my actual question.
Thank you for the replies
Hoax or not, as a parent monitor your child while online period.
