I'm wondering specifically if anyone has been able to activate the MI Mix on Verizon's network? Willmyphonework.net seems to think it will work on Verizon's 2G, 3G, and at least some of the LTE network as far as radio compatibility is concerned.
If not Verizon, how well does it work on another US Carrier?

I did some searching for you.
According to Xiaomi's official page, the Mix supports the following LTE bands:
FDD-LTE (bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8)
TD-LTE (bands 38, 39, 40, 41)
These are the bands used by the main US carriers:
AT&T: 2, 4, 5, 17
Verizon: 2, 4, 13
Tmobile: 2, 4, 12
Sprint: 25, 26, 41
Red denotes primary LTE band(s) for that carrier
It looks like if you're on T-Mobile, you're good to go. Other carriers may work depending on which bands are used most in your area.

Hope this helps!
I used it on Verizon and get lte in my house. Unfortunately my vintage fur that one lte band wad bad in my area even traveling so I switched to at&t towers which written much better for me
Works on Verizon but how well depends on your area
I have Verizon as my second sim, it did not work out of the box. I had to update the APN settings, but now get LTE pretty much everywhere I go.
I was unable to get the Verizon SIM to work on my Mi Mix in NYC, either as standalone or as a second sim.
T-Mobike works perfectly both standalone and as part of the Google Project Fi MVNO

Thanks for the insight. That's what I had feared. Issue is I travel around the country almost full time.
I'll need to read up on this dual sim stuff, do you have two separate numbers, or can you use the same number on multiple networks?

So you are saying I can keep my number with Verizon and since they don't use VoLTE yet, the Xiaomi Mi Mix will not be hampered by the missing 4G bands, then get unlimited Data with T-mobile (I'm also unlimited with Verizon) on a different sim and Android has the ability to handle that seemlessly?
If so, why have I not heard of this before?! That sounds amazing. I can even use the T-mobile number as my business line.

VoLTE
I'm using my mix with 2 sims, Sim 1 is T-Mobile and Sim 2 is Verizon.
Both have LTE Quality data speed, so far tested in SF bay area, Houston, Washington DC area.
My issue is with VoLTE, when I'm on the phone, I can't use data at all, regardless which carrier, meaning that I can be on the phone on Verizon, Data set to T-mobile, but still can't get online. And I do have VoLTE turned on.
I'm on MIUI Global 8.0 Stable. 8.0.7. This is killing me when traveling...

Do you solve this problem?
I use Cricket (AT&T reseller). It works great so far.

Just set up ATT prepaid 60/month plan yesterday and its my understanding that this should give me LTE access. I found some att pta APN settings but they dont work, just lose internet connection. I am getting good speeds on HSPA (5-7mbps dl) but just curious as to why LTE seems to not be working?
Im on 4.3 if that makes a difference.
My first question is.. has AT&T rolled out LTE in your area? My second question would be are you absolutely sure your plan comes with LTE?

Nashville, TN so yes LTE market.
Asked the sales rep when I set it up yesterday specifically if the prepaid plans included LTE and he said yes.

ok, next question, which APN are you using? bare with me, some questions may be redundant for you.

Ive tried a couple. I have one set up that I labeled ATT Phone
These settings aget me HSPA
APN: phone
mmsc: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
mms proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
mms port 80
mcc 310
mnc 410
apn type default,admin,fota,mms,supl,hipri
apn protocol ipv4/ipv6
apn roaming protocol ipv4/ipv6
I tried just changeing the apn phone to pta with the rest basically the same and that gets me no internet.
there's only a couple more things I can think of...
1. In your APN, make sure the bearer setting at the very bottom is unspecified (ignore if it doesn't exist).
2. The rep who created your account didn't enable LTE for the particular phone line.
Bottom line is, if LTE is enabled on your account, it should work.
sorry i couldn't help any more.

Cool well thanks for your help. I might swing by att store when I get off work and see if they figure out anything.
Overall really not that big a problem, hspa is plenty fast for me really, just want to get use out of what I pay for though.
I'm going to guess that the rep just didn't enable LTE on your phone line otherwise you'd have no data. Hopefully, they can sort it out.
I have an unlocked Att Active and I was curious if there is a method for enabling lte on tmobiles network. More specifically metropcs but I believe either way should work the same. any insight is appreciated.
If you are on 4.2.2 stock MF# you can follow the guide here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441211, but if you updated to 4.3 official ML2 then I'm not sure if it will work. I know it works because I got my phone to use LTE on Tmo via this method but I have yet to update to 4.3 because I don't know if I'll lose LTE capabilities.
On my second Active now and I had LTE on the first one last year for only a few hours then it just never ever worked again. Here's what I'd suggest:
- make sure you have a brand new T-Mobile or MetroPCS SIM card as older ones may not be able to access the newer network bands that T-Mobile and MetroPCS are using (since T-Mobile owns MetroPCS now), get your info transferred over to a new SIM card and work with that first off
- use the *#*#4636#*#* code to get the phone info menu, then make sure it's set for LTE/GSM auto (PRL) (and also hit the Menu key and make sure the Data connection is enabled)
- under Settings - More networks - Mobile networks - Access Point Names add the following as a new APN if you don't get it showing up by default with the new SIM if you do get a new one - on my second Active now and a brand new T-Mobile SIM only a week old the only APN that shows is the older epc.tmobile.com one (note the name I just typed is accurate, it doesn't use the hyphen):
Code:
Name : T-Mobile LTE
APN: fast.tmobile.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: default,supl,admin,dun,mms
And then of course actually select that APN for use with LTE - once you do those steps the LTE should kick in almost immediately if you're in an area where T-Mobile or MetroPCS actually have honest to goodness LTE service. If they don't (meaning it hasn't been refarmed or it just doesn't have it period) then the phone will fall back to HSPA/HSPA+ mode as needed (because you have it set for LTE/GSM auto (PRL) operation).
So far since I got this second Active it's working great and I've had no issues at all with LTE speeds around 30-35Mbps in testing and HSPA+ speeds around 28-32Mbps which is damned fast enough for me.
I still keep the phone in EDGE mode most of the time, go figure.
Hope this helps...
I unlocked mine with unlock code. Lte works out of the box. It is the same with note 2. A lot people talking about enable tmo bands and this is not necessary...at least for me here in PR.

Same for me. US phone, LTE works out of the box. used unlock code and am on TMO w/ no problems
So, I bought the Z3C D5803 online (amazon) a while ago in the US. Unlocked, international version.
I don't get any LTE signal, although I have all bands necessary for T-Mobile LTE, except band 12. But this is no reason for it not to work. I only get 3G/H/H+. The APN settings are all OK, according to the T-Mobile tech support.
Since it's a corporate SIM, I can't handle things directly. The service (and SIM) HAS a LTE data plan, since it was being used in a different phone, provided by T-Mobile, and I had 4G. An IT employee called them and they told him that my phone is compatible, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will wotk with T-Mobile (wtf does that even mean?). Like, my phone has all the bands necessary, but they could be closed (is that even possible?).
What I think is happening is that the SIM was registered with the previous phone's IMEI, and since my new phone has a different IMEI, T-Mobile is blocking LTE connection. Or my xperia IMEI is not registered as a LTE phone.
This is definitely not a hardware problem.
One thing worth mentioning. Before using this phone in the US, I traveled to Brazil and used my SIM card from there. LTE worked flawlessly, athough it uses different bands. The APN settings updated automatically.
So, what gives?

Well, that is unfortunate. I don't belive that is possible for your D5803 to work while mine doesn't, which was what the employee from T-Mobile tried to say. I believe it's a carrier issue with the SIM card/ IMEI.

I don't think so. I think that the problem is with the SIM card or something to do about it being registered to the phone previously being used.
So it happens that I have another T-Mobile SIM card (a pre paid one, which is my personal number)and I tried it on my phone. To my amusement and frustration, I got LTE signal. So, what could T-Mobile be doing with my work line that I'm not getting LTE?
I believe it's a carrier issue with the SIM card
I had the same problem when I first got my Nexus 5 a while back. It turns out all I needed was a new SIM card, so that is most likely the culprit. It sucks that you'll have to jump through hoops to get a new SIM though.

No dice.
I think it's a problem with the SIM card. Now, what I don't know is:
If the problem is with the SIM card only
If the problem is with the SIM card and IMEI (4G registered to work only with the previous T-Mobile phone)

T-mobile US doesn't register the IMEI to the SIM, so I doubt it's that. Could be a defective SIM I suppose, or maybe LTE isn't enabled on the phone for some reason. First thing I'd do is go to a store and have them switch out the SIM for a new one.

LTE is enabled, and when I switch the current SIM for the other pre-paid I have from T-Mobile, I get LTE signal. So, maybe that indicates without a doubt that the problem is the SIM card?
It's really likely then that it's the SIM since the other one works. Go to a T-mobile store and they'll probably give you another one for free since that one isn't working. LTE isn't something T-mobile charges more for, so you should get it if the network is available.

If you're using the phone on Straight Talk then you need to choose LTE/CDMA as your network. Global just never worked out for me when I tried it. Since you're using it in the US, then LTE/CDMA is the network that you definitely need to be using.

I too use Straight Talk on one of my HTC One M8 Android devices on Verizon towers and ran into an issue with the device being stuck on 3G. While troubleshooting I discovered a pair of new APN settings. They didn't fix my 3G issue (it had to be downgraded from 5.1 to 4.4.2 to reset the NV configuration) but you may want to give these a try as well:
Name: Straight Talk - Verizon Internet (name whatever you want)
APN: ACCT.TF.GW6.VZWENTP or TFTWO.GW9.VZWENTP
MMSC: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
MCC: 311
MNC: 480
APN Type: default,dun,stdhipri,supl
APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN Roaming Protocol IPv4/IPv6
Bearer: LTE
Mobile Virtual Network operator type: none
Mobile Virtual Network operator value: Not set
The rest of the entries should be left blank/not set.
Has anyone in the US bought this phone? AT&T can't activate because they don't have the right (size I guess) SIM for this phone thus couldn't activate.

That's BS. I slapped my nano SIM into my US XZ1C with no problems. The phone then asked to search online for the APN information. It downloaded it all with zero effort on my part and everything worked 100%. I've had this SIM card since at least the Z3 time. Go to another store, have them replace whatever SIM you have now with a nano SIM, go home and install it on your phone. Don't give them any explanation for anything. You need to replace your SIM with a nano SIM and that's it. You'll get signal automatically, but not data. Just Google AT&T APN settings and enter them if your phone doesn't offer to download them during the initial setup. I get LTE all over town, although it shows the 4G icon instead. I can send/receive SMS, MMS, and calls normally.

Ok I'll do that. I'm moving from vzn to att and was trying to set up account over the phone. The rep first told me it was a 2G only phone and they don't support that. Then after I told him that his own website said the IMEI number was supported he came back with the SIM statement. I even said "it's just a nano SIM" what's special... have you looked at the APNs? this is most likely the issue.
this phone technically supports all ATT LTE bands.
you may also have to set your "Preferred Network type" to LTE preferred
I am still using my old AT&T SIM from years ago when it was originally a Micro SIM. Just carefully cut the SIM down to the appropriate size and it works fine. I have the UK version and have no issues so far.
As for the H+ only, it may be due to the IMEI not being recognized on the network carrier. I haven't experienced this issue, but from what I've read online, you can ask the AT&T rep to register your SIM using a phone's IMEI that is registered with AT&T. Not sure how that works, but it's what I've read on other forums from people with the same issue.
I've used APN settings on web and confirmed the SIM is compatible but still not getting LATE speed. Open signal testing in various locations at best are 5-6Mbps.

the only band i know of that has been in question is band 12. i think most ATT LTE takes place on band 17, which runs on almost the same frequency as band 12. this is likely not your issue, but i can dig a bit deeper. this mostly affects people using Tmobile, like myself.
i'm guessing you have one of the international variants?

also, any other network settings that might affect connectivity? our friend in texas needs some help getting his LTE going.
ALSO... my XZ1C shows LTE when connected to it. are you positive you are operating on LTE? is there a chance you are connected to it but not using it? network speeds?
thanks in advance!
Just left AT&T again and no better.
There are two APN settings that are on my phone. (1.) ATT Nextgenphone
(2.) ATT HSPA+ ***this was renamed from simply ATT by the guy messing with my phone. Originally it was just ATT***
APN Settings
1. These APN settings result in no data connection what-so-ever
Name: ATT Nextgenphone
APN: nexgenphone
Proxy: not set

Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMSPort: 80

Authentication type: not set
APN Type: default,admin,mms,supl,hipri,internet
APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO type: none
2. This gets data (H) but at about 4 Gbps. Sometimes it bumps up to (H+) but never long enough to test speed.
Name: ATT HSPA+
APN: phone
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set

MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net

Somewhere on the AT&T website there was detail referencing the 9th and 10th digit of the SIM being certain numbers. Whatever it was my SIM is compatible.
Looking for the specific langauge I happened back to this site and now I'm worried I've got no hope. Here is the link but I've attached a screenshot of the concerning statement.

Can anyone give an opinion on any of this? Thanks for all your help. I hope it prevents someone else from having the same problem.
