Hey guys, i just unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone.
Problem now is i cant login into snapchat, so after a bit of researching most people recommended that i unroot, login into snap
and then root my phone again.
Well how do i unroot without losing any data?
i tried using the full un-root option in SuperSU but after doing that, my phone didnt boot up anymore, i was only able to boot into fastboot.
recoverymode wasnt working aswell. so i flashed TWRP and SuperSU again from scratch and was able to boot normally again.
So any advice how i should go on from here on?
Thanks alot in advance guys!

Is your objective primarily to unroot without losing data or to find a way to login to SnapChat while rooted?

Are you on stock ROM? Flash the full ROM and you shouldn't be rooted.

Hi I recently updated my phone to the newest version of ViperROM.
Ever since I did the update (full wipe), when I go into recovery it mentions this:
Root Access Possibly Lost Fix?
THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE
1. YES fix root (/system/xbin/su)
2. NO do not fix
I didn't have this before I updated my phone, and I'm pretty sure I haven't updated the CWM recently either... I also have SuperSU installed for root access.
I've reinstalled the ViperRom 2-3 times with the same issue, my work colleague is getting the same thing on his phone to (same phones). Both phones have the same recovery, supersu and rom.
Very wierd, anyone else seen anything like this or know how I might fix it?
I've used the option to add SuperSU to system, but the message still shows.
I can't seem to do anything while I have this message. There is an OTA update from ViperROM which I can't install, because is keeps asking to fix root.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you gain root access on the phone? E.g. terminal emulator and use the 'su' command. Do you get a SU prompt?
If not have you tried manually flashing SU zip?

Its got to the point where I'm attempting to install a different SU.zip, and now CWM attempts to install then the screen goes blank.
I can't install anything via CWM at the moment...
I've had root access before installed the Viper 5.0 update, now is gone all weird.
I now can't install any .zip file via the phone, CWM attempts it showing "installing zip" then the screen goes blank and reboots.

Have you done Backup Data, wipe and fresh install, then restore Data?

I have a backup from before i updated ViperRom 5.0, can I not install TWRP or something? Its just I would then need to reinstall ViperRom again and set everything up.
To be honest, it wasn't perfect from when I did the update, but it still looks better than the old version I was on.

If you back up data you won't need to set it up again. That's my point. Do this
Install TWRP, do a full backup, then wipe and install 5.5 fresh. Then restore Data. Restoring data will return your phone back to the way you had it.

TWRP Recovery
Rooted
Xposed framework installed
Been getting bugged for the 4.4.4 update, and I wanted to open and look at the ZIP out of curiosity, so I hit install now, thinking it still needed to download... but turns out it didn't, and rebooted right away.
So now I'm stuck in a boot loop of sorts.... it boots, and loads up Android, and I can use the phone, but after about 20-30 seconds it reboots into recovery.
Is there an easy way out of this without wiping everything? Preferably a modded OTA that I can install for the 4.4.4 update.
Check out the thread under general tab to use RSD Flasher or House of Moto to install the 4.4.4 FXZ

The above post is good advice. If you use House of Moto with the full 4.4.4 FXZ, you can choose to "KEEP DATA".
You will need to flash TWRP back on and re-root afterwards AND re-install Xposed, but all of your apps and settings will remain intact.
The reason this happened is because you have TWRP installed - taking OTAs *always* requires you to have STOCK recovery - not custom.
Good Luck :good:

Thanks for the replies. Thanks for the reply... the phone eventually decided the update failed and gave up. Apparently clearing the cache would've also probably worked.
But, now I've reflashed stock recovery, removed xposed, and unrooted. I should be safe to just take the OTA now, right?
I would've done the FXZ earlier, but didn't realize there was a keep data option.

You can try, and it will probably work....but if it were me, I'd still use the FXZ and keep data option. It's cleaner and no chance of something going wrong. Afterwards, just do like I said -- re-flash TWRP, re-root, then reinstall Xposed.

Great!! Glad to hear everything worked out. I sent you a Private message - check your PMs
Just to add my experience: I too tried to apply the update (rooted, 4.4.2, xposed, stock recovery, locked boot loader).
Got the boot loop you mentioned.
Only remedy was for me to quickly go into root explorer and rename the 3c.ota.apk and 3c.ota.odex files. Now I no longer get the notifications (unless I reboot my phone).

And in your case, it was Xposed.
There are several threads (and posts) discussing conditions for taking an OTA. You need stock recovery, have to disable Xposed, and you need to be close enough to stock so the pre-flash verification will pass. Otherwise, the OTA will fail, and/or you'll get stuck in a boot loop.
There is a little more to it as well, but I'll ask you to see the other threads.
Thought I disabled xposed. But perhaps not. I've read other threads. From my understanding, I won't be able to root (or even the quasi-root) on 4.4.4 with a locked boot loader.
Thx for the reply.
On stock 4.2.2 rooted and perfectly happy for now, last time i tried to flash recovery i bricked the phone and don't want to deal with that again if i can help it. Do i need to flash a custom recovery or can i get by with just stock for now?
What to do about OTA? Is root keeper an option and just accept the updates as they come?

You don't need a recovery unless you want to back up your rom or install other ones.
As for the OTA, people were reporting root stuck when installing 24A, as long as you have stock recovery it should install ok. Worst case is you need to root it again.
it all depends what you want to do bc i had my phone rooted without a custom recovery and it worked just fine using like xposed but if you want to flash a rom or do nandroids then you need a custom recovery. I also took an OTA like a dumbass and it gave me a boot loop with a certification error and it took me a month to fix it so a) plz don't take an OTA and b) get a custom recovery if you want to just be safe, i would if i were you.
Thnx, will try auto rec again last time. What to do after install? Last time it installed, it opened and that was it, couldn't get it to reboot, do l need to do a back up first? What are the steps immediately after install?
I have the Tmobile SM-N910T on 6.0.1 that I managed to brick. I was not rooted and installed twrp, then the latest
CF-Auto-Root-trltetmo-trltetmo-smn910t.zip to attempt to root it . It is for a version back from me as I was on N910TUVS2EPK2 and it is for EPG2. now this bish wont boot all the way up but I can get it into TWRP and download mode but Im hoping to find a way to fix it without wiping it via a full odin image install lol.
I had a previous Note 4 that broke with the systemless root and that was flaky at best so I really want to full root this bish but not finding any threads to full root it and now stuck with a brick for the moment.
thanks
I dont mind nuking it via odin but if I have to do that I would like to full unroot it at the same time
fixed without nuking it. here is the link I used if anyone has the same issue.

I used Beastmode with system mode root (NOT systemless)
Hello !
At first I apologize for my English, I am French.
So i used the custom ROM Validus and this problem appears for every ROM. Like you know, when you root, you can't use snapchat and u need to login before you root your phone. So i installed Validus, i install all apps i need and login (included snapchat) but after that when i flash super su, my phone reset and i have a error message which flashes. In the message i have ".com.android" something and i'm obliged to shutdown the phone, reset the phone and re-install the ROM.
And this appears with all ROM (Tesla, Tuga etc...) and i don't know how can i use snapchat acutally.
I tried to disable super user in the app, doesnt work
I saw we can use xposed app but for 7.1.1, it's not possible actually
Any ideas ?
Thanks,
Snapchat discorvers root as it denies working on it. After flashing install snapchat and login. Then return to recovery and install SU afterwards. Possibly you have to use tools like RootCloak.

It's what i tried to do (without RootCloak) and when i do that, i lost all my data (like i wipe all data when i try to install SU...) but RootCloak works for 7.1.1 ? Because i already tried to flash Xposed, doesnt work (error 1)
Try SUHide. Though the data wipe seems odd.

I tried to flash suhide after flash ROM, doesnt work, the ROM don't charge (the loading of the ROM don't stop)
PS : I tried with Validus ROM and others, same things
Here's a workaround for Nexus 6. Maybe it's working on 3T as well. Something else I found here.
Nevertheless, the auto data wipe is strange. Did you clean or dirty flash?

I don't know what is dirty flash ? What i know is i alway wipe all data before install any custom ROM
But I found a solution. I installed Root Swich, it's a simple app which allows to deactivate the root and activate it as you want.
So i disabled root and install snapchat and login successfully.
But i want to understand why when i want to flash super su for any custom ROM i have a auto data wipe :/
Since your device is beyond my reach I can't help investigating the problem. Maybe the data is not really deleted but r/w permissions have just been modified and cannot be accessed any more. But anyway, I'm glad your found a workaround.

Now I just need someone who knows how can i fix the problem of data. Cause if one day i will need to flash something, it's gonna wipe the data of my phone
Maybe if i do a clean factory reset or something ? Cause i used my 3T a lot cause of this to find a solution so maybe something happenned when i tried so many things. (Test of ROM etc ...)
I have more information, when I install any custom ROM and after that I want to flash super su, wipe cache etc ... I boot on the ROM normally but i see my phone haved a factory reset and i have this ".com.android.phone has stopped" Impossible to remove the message and I am forced to wipe again data and reinstalll the ROM.
Conclusion : I can install ROM but after that, i can not do anything, if i do anything, BOUM, reset factory. And i don't understand why ....
I tried the last (Unofficial) TWRP but when i tried to boot on the ROM after flashing it, my phone didn't boot on the ROM but always on TWRP.
Maybe I brick my phone but i can use it, i don't have storage problem or others so ...
I'm lost ... Any ideas ?

Do you have this issue with only flashing super su or try to boot into recovery don't do anything and reboot check if it still reset everything.
Which recovery you are using?
The version

I have this issue only flashing super su, when i try to boot into recovery and then reboot into the ROM, nothing happened.
I use 3.0.3.1, when i tried 3.0.4.0 and flash a ROM, the phone only boot on recovery and not into the ROM
I'm actually having a similar issue. One day my phone was acting weird and I had to force reboot. I noticed after that I lost root. I've tried flashing SuperSU again, and it flashes fine but I still don't get root. This morning I upgraded to 4.0.3, and tried flashing root, and same thing no root.
The weirdest part is I can flash a custom kernel with TWRP 3.0.3.1 and the kernel flashes fine and I have the custom kernel, if I try flashing SuperSU, it flashes fine but I get no root AND it removes the custom kernel!!! Everything I'm using is the most updated too. What gives? I want root back....
