Dear XDA users,
I've installed TWRP 3.0.0 and CM13 on my S5 mini a long time ago, but when I found out there was an update available for cyanognmod, I saw there was a newer version of TWRP available! My question is, how do I install the latest TWRP version? Can I just install it using the older version, or does that brick my device? I'm also wondering if it's really necessary to update, since I think the old TWRP version should work fine.
Thank in advance,
StanleyNL (Stan)
MOD EDIT: Solved, closed per OP request
Hi everyone, so some mistakes have been made today. While playing around with substratum theme engine on my mix running lineage-os 14.1, i had uninstalled one of the themes and then decided to uninstall the app entirely, however after uninstall it didnt reset the theme, so i rebooted. While attempting to reboot it got stuck in a boot loop. At this point I plugged my phone into my pc and booted into twrp so i could access my files and get them off, however when attempting to boot into twrp i could not use the touch screen which is preventing me from re-flashing my rom. and so after troubleshooting for an hour or soi had all my files off of my device, so i decided to format the system partition. so now i have no rom flashed and a twrp that i cannot use due to lack of touchscreen, its temporarily bricked i guess. So my questions are; A. can i use an otg cable and a mouse to control twrp? B. Is there some way to directly flash a rom from adb or from the connected pc. Then I should also state that I have tried older/newer versions of twrp to try to get the touchscreen working, to no avail (currently running 3.1.1-0 lithium). Ive read that it may be touchscreen drivers or something that are mis-matched from the rom. the onlyt issue is that there is no rom, also ive heard that the touchscreen is at a kernel level so i may need to flash a new kernel to get it working. TBH im not going to do anything else so that i dont completely brick my phone. Thank you all in advance for helping out!
Please try this (older) TWRP by MrRaines: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298927160
It's TWRP 3.0.2-0 based but has different kernel/driver that is more compatible with a varous bunch of ROMs.
You're a god, this is exactly what I needed, thanks!!!

Ok glad to read that it works.
Please keep in mind: the TWRP of MrRaines is an older one and is heavily modified.
ATM i'm trying to investigate what's the specific reason other TWRP versions are conflicting with touchscreen drivers on every new release of an stable or dev rom but MrRaines TWRP is still working ^^
The TWRP compatibility case has become even worse with the release of some Android 7.x / Nougat based ROMs - without an official kernel source release for Android 7 by Xiaomi (Android 6 kernel sources should have been released some weeks ago).
Could take a couple of days to find a reason and some more to find a solution...
... any help, tips and confidential information is very welcome @MrRaines @jcadduono

Hmmm. I did try two or even three other versions of TWRP. The first two would not even flash giving me an error. The third worked but touch screen would not work. Final attempt was the one from MrRaines which worked perfect!
"Hey everyone,
Here are the latest open beta builds for OnePlus 3 and 3T.
Release notes
Launcher
Improved search tags in App drawer
Added "New installs" category tag in App drawer
Improved app list for hidden space and toolbox
Camera
Optimized switching between front and rear camera
Multimedia
Added capability to scrub/seek through AAC audio file timelines
Please keep in mind that this is beta software. These builds are sometimes not as stable as our official OTAs generally are. By installing this update, you accept the potential risks.
And please remember to tell us about any bugs you may find using the bug report forums, found here. https://forums.oneplus.com/feedback/
Please note:
If you have already flashed an Open Beta (you are currently running the latest Open Beta) you will receive this new build as an OTA.
If you are not running open beta software and would like to, please refer to the flashing instructions and the full ROM found on the downloads page here: http://downloads.oneplus.com/ (requires full data wipe before updating from stable to open beta)
Once you migrate to the Beta path, you will continue to receive Open Beta OTAs. You will no longer receive the regular Official Stable OTAs.
Moving back to the Official OTA path from the Beta path will require a full install and clean flash (FULL WIPE of all data and cache)
Please note that this is the last open beta for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, we will provide a stable version of OnePlus 3/3T for beta testers to migrate back to stable version of OxygenOS later this month to ensure beta testers will receive regular Android security patch update and so on.
Make sure to let us know how you feel about the beta builds here in the thread too, we are watching."

As usual you people are so quick. Thanks a lot.
And Oxygen so slow...
On OnePlus site 04.07.2017. On the zip file 27.06.2017, like ob from Hydrogen OS..
Works Fine!
I did a full wipe, clean flash. Reflash Twrp 3.1.1.38 by eng stk. On a second reboot to system, phone goes back to stock recovery.
I reflash recovery from laptop with ADB in Fastboot. All good.

Haven't heard Oneplus releasing kernel source for beta builds. I've only ever heard they release for the stable branch

So they're supposed to release immediately without testing the builds, stop being a noob
Does bootloader needs to be unlocked to sideload update from stock recovery ?
Do I have to turn on USB debugging ?
I'm on stock 4.1.6, with locked bootloader, want to go to beta builds.
Don't shoot me for this noob question, I just own a op3 for 2 days....

Thanks man! The official link keeps failing on me and I am currently on FreedomOS so OTA isn't an option. Hopefully this will download.
Anyone having trouble re-rooting op3 after this update? Latest supersu fails to install on twrp after I flashed this update.

I am not sure how your flashing steps are but what I do when flashing oxygen os is usually flashing twrp img right after flashing oxygen os, then reboot to recovery, finally reboot to system. This way i never lose TWRP.
On a second reboot to system you will loose twrp. Stock recovery takes over.
Yes, after flashing the rom i reflash twrp. This happen on H2o ob16 & Oos ob19
I reflash twrp from laptop. Reboot to recovery, NOT to system !
Hi Folks...
Got me an Samsumg Galaxy S3 GT-I9305.
I tried to install RR, so first step obviously was getting TWRP 3.2.1-0-i9305.img.tar.
Downloaded over at https://dl.twrp.me/i9305 the said version.
Installed with Odin V3 and everything came up clear but when i tried to boot into recovery i got stuck in Bootlogo
Playing around for a while i decided to install TWRP 3.0.2-1 which worked fine on first try.
Tried to flash the 3.2.1-0-i9305.img via TWRP gave me the error message "File is too big".
Can anyone confirm?
That version is too big for the recovery partition on our device.. Need someone to compress it to make it smaller to fit the partition size of the device.
I have the same problem with the last version TWRP 3.2.1.0.
When I push this one with Odin 3.12, all is sucess but when i reboot the device in custom recovery, it can't, it is stuck
S3 GT-I9305 Specific?

TWRP 3.2.1-0 works great on my S3 i9300, flashed from the external SD card so could you please edit your thread title and add: S3 GT-I9305?
Thanks!

Confirmed also. Unable to use 3.2.1-0 for install/upgrade.
3.0.2-1 works fine, https://dl.twrp.me/i9305/twrp-3.0.2-1-i9305.img.html
Working 3.2.1-0 credit goes to @Option58 the one who compress it. Thank him. Enjoy guys.

Official TWRP 3.2.1-0 for i9305 Problem Reported to TeamWin TWRP
@Lexington67 @public3n3my @GouLt @mouth
I reported the problem to the TeamWin TWRP so other S3 i9305 users don't waste their time with this version:
Hello, several XDA i9305 users report here
that version TWRP 3.2.1-0 returns error: "File is too big".

Awesome support from a non-profit open source community project IMO.

I'm working on my own TWRP device tree, based on official LineageOS repos, with the intention of getting official support for version 3.2.1-0. I'll create my own thread when my build is ready. According to TWRP's official page for the i9305, there is no current official maintainer.
Edit: I compiled a 3.2.1-0 build and created a separate thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development-i9305/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3741413
Hi
Before Oreo was officially released in the UK I flashed the french release using Odin and all works fine. However I haven't had any security updates since march ...I have an s7 edge that has the latest updates ..is there anything I can do to make it update ?
Thanks for any help.
I flashed a more recent firmware with Odin and I had the OTA feature come back and with this the latest patches.
Thanks will try that.
