Do you guys have uncertified in device certification from the playstore?
I never saw this on my previous nexus devices!

My bootloader is unlocked and i'm using stock OOS rooted with ElementalX kernel.
I'm all stock and my device is "Certified".
Means you are failing safetynet. Some apps won't even appear.

Anything that breaks Safetynet. Most commonly root or even unlocked bootloader without a custom kernel (on some devices).
I don't have this device right now so I'm not sure if unlocked bootloader effects it but it does on Nexus/Pixel.
If it's root there are some ways to hide it possibly.

Its new maybe less then a month since they started doing it with PlayStore.
I know on Nexus you can use magisk to hide root. I have not looked into details. You will have to research if it's possible on your device.
Unlocked bootloader is easy. All custom kernels have a patch to hide it.

I'm on OOS 4.0.3, unlocked bootloader, rooted with SuperSU, Magisk installed and with a custom (Franco r12) kernel. Play store is stating that my device is uncertified as well.
My banking app closes itself whenever I launch it, which I'm assuming is because I tripped safetynet. Oddly enough, when I uninstalled and re-installed the banking app, it seems to work now. While I can still update and download free apps on Play Store, I can't seem to buy paid apps. Whenever I get to the payment window and click "Buy", the Play Store app closes itself.
I had all of the above modifications while I was on OOS 4.0.2 and I didn't notice any problems. Purchasing apps worked fine before updating. I'm also getting the DM-Verity message during boot now, which I didn't have before updating.
I'm uncertified too but my banking apps work tdbank and capital one apps... On oos 4.0.3 rooted with ElementalX
Had this for a few weeks already.
With Magisk and Magisk hide should make it show up as Certified.
If not, clear the Play Store's app data and it should fix it.

Magisk is the only way?

Just go to SuperSU and disable supersu. Then go to settings, app and open Android pay in all app tap. Then erase cache and data. Then open android Pay and tray the setting again.

Follow the instructions at the end of this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=64199915
Essentially you have to flash unSU.zip to remove the current super user files, and flash the systemless supersu zip.
EDIT: Make sure you take a backup of your current ROM in TWRP, because I don't believe the systemless root has been tested on the turbo yet. If you want to wait a couple hours, I am planning on trying this out myself it a little while.

Its like Samsung saying that the system is modified. Payment doesn't work maybe because Google doesn't want to take liability for a modified rom doing something wrong.

Android pay won't work on any rom that is not CTS compliant. That means, Samsung, LG, OnePlus, Cyanogen OS, HTC, etc will work. Custom ROMs will not work.
You'll also need to disable root. I use SuperSU and just disable root when I need to use pay. Works just fine.

I guess it's hit and miss. I'm on stock, bootloader unlocked, and I've tried it by disabling root - even uninstalled SuperSU and cleaned the cache in TWRP. I figured it's TWRP or that it's unlocked.
Is Xposed installed too?
Now that google has patched systemless root, are there any more benefits to it compared to the regular root?
If you're on full stock you can unroot and flash ota's. That's about it afaik

It's currently the only method to root stock rom and kernel. And leaving /system read only and untouched seems to be marshmallow's flavor if you will.
I have been on systemless for awhile now so perhaps it has changed but dont you need a modified boot image to avoid the corrupt phone message?

few possiblilities:
1. You haven't received the rollout for the new safetynet api
2. Your payment wasn't checked with safetynet this time.
3. You lucky booger.
I was going to say, they may not have "updated" android pay yet. I wonder if you don't update how that will work. Tbh, the systemless root does seem pretty moot at this point unless you love OTAs.
It is gonna get to the point that people will have to pick either root/custom roms or using things like android pay. Not a big deal personally as all mobile payments are blocked in every store here
Hello, Everyone.
Just did a factory reset to my Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 (Black Edition) having Stock Android 5.0.1. Then I performed following steps:
I flashed TWRP 3.1.1 (using Odin) and that went well.
I took full backup in TWRP.
Then I downloaded Magisk Manager v5.3.0 from the official github releases link I got from this forum post. (can't insert link in the post since I'm new here)
Through Magisk Manager, I downloaded the latest Magisk-v14.0.zip
Installed Magisk-14.0.zip from TWRP. It showed no errors.
On rebooting the device, I confirmed root access using Root Checker.
(Here I had to update Google Play Services since they were pretty outdated due to Stock Firmware).
But now in Magisk Manager, I see that SafetyNet Check fails with following points:
ctsProfile: false
basicIntegrity: false
I also noted that I am unable to use Magisk Hide. If I check any checkbox in the list of apps shown in Magisk Hide and refresh the list, it automatically gets unchecked.
I also tried following points:
Disable Android Developer Mode
Use "Magisk Core Only Mode"
But nothing has helped so far.
Is there any way out of this that anybody can suggest?
Thanks in Advance!
I seem to be having the same problem with a Samsung S7
Magisk won't keep any of the settings I change.

Thanks for replying. Do you also see the same SafetyNet Check failures as mentioned above?
Your device is most likely running an unsupported kernel version: 3.4.0.
Magisk Hide does not support this kernel version and Magisk Hide will never work.
The only way you can possibly fix this is by installing a Custom ROM with a Kernel that has been up-streamed and has the missing feature that Magisk needs (mount namespace)

Knox was tripped to 0x1 as expected... Magisc is running pretty good except the know issue that it sometimes disappear and i have to restart so it is "rooted" again. Hi there, I rooted using the same method but unfotunately every time I have done it when I login into my google account the phone sofbricks with the FRP lock and nothing else can be done, just reinstall the stock rom and start again all the process. Can somebody help me to understand whats happening and how to avoid it? The device is the Note 8 N9500
thanks in advance.
Hi Guys. It's been a while since I've been here on XDA.
I've been trying to log in to Google Chat with my work google account but I am getting the error message "Cannot create work profile - The security policy prevents the creation of a work profile because a custom OS has been installed on this device."
I am not rooted but I am currently running hadesROM v11.0 with hadesKernel-v1.4. (I haven't installed any update for this ROM as I basically quit on modding my phone and was content with the features I have).
I guess, my question is - Is there a way to bypass this error and be able to login with my work google account without rooting or flashing stock ROM?
I am thinking on flashing stock ROM as a last ditch effort but I will be losing a lot of features from this custom ROM.
Any advise or input will be very much appreciated. Thank you!!
P.S. My Bixby button is also gone so I can't get to recovery unless I try to poke something in the button whole. HAHA.

Jokes aside, you should check if Google SafetyNet is passing on your phone! You can download a simple SafetyNet Check App from the Play Store.
You unlocked the bootloader & modified the system, which triggers SafetyNet.
SafetyNet needs to pass, in order for some apps (Banking Apps, Google Pay) & some games (like Mario Kart Tour or Fortnite) to work.
If SafetyNet is triggered, you'll also stop seeing Netflix in the Play Store, and in the Play Store Settings, in the bottom it'll say "Device is not certified".
You can make SafetyNet pass (even with unlocked BL + modified system!), by using Magisk and enabling MagiskHide in its settings.

Hi,
Thank you for your response.
Safetynet does pass and Play Store says it's certified.
My banking apps are also working fine so I managed to stay on this ROM for a long time.
Seems like I'll end up wiping my phone and try other ROMs or flash the stock firmware. I'll keep googling before Saturday comes.

Oof. Ok. As a last resort, you could try Magisk and its MagiskHide feature. In the app you can tell it to spoof to your specified apps.
Dunno if that'll work, but I'm mentioning it because you don't have to reset your system to install Magisk.
Apps can also look for folders like TWRP in phone storage, and then refuse to function. Mario Kart is one of those games that try to search for such folders.
So if you have folders or apps, that could reveal that you're running a modified system, pay attention to that.
