Hi Guys. It's been a while since I've been here on XDA.
I've been trying to log in to Google Chat with my work google account but I am getting the error message "Cannot create work profile - The security policy prevents the creation of a work profile because a custom OS has been installed on this device."
I am not rooted but I am currently running hadesROM v11.0 with hadesKernel-v1.4. (I haven't installed any update for this ROM as I basically quit on modding my phone and was content with the features I have).
I guess, my question is - Is there a way to bypass this error and be able to login with my work google account without rooting or flashing stock ROM?
I am thinking on flashing stock ROM as a last ditch effort but I will be losing a lot of features from this custom ROM.
Any advise or input will be very much appreciated. Thank you!!
P.S. My Bixby button is also gone so I can't get to recovery unless I try to poke something in the button whole. HAHA.

Jokes aside, you should check if Google SafetyNet is passing on your phone! You can download a simple SafetyNet Check App from the Play Store.
You unlocked the bootloader & modified the system, which triggers SafetyNet.
SafetyNet needs to pass, in order for some apps (Banking Apps, Google Pay) & some games (like Mario Kart Tour or Fortnite) to work.
If SafetyNet is triggered, you'll also stop seeing Netflix in the Play Store, and in the Play Store Settings, in the bottom it'll say "Device is not certified".
You can make SafetyNet pass (even with unlocked BL + modified system!), by using Magisk and enabling MagiskHide in its settings.

Hi,
Thank you for your response.
Safetynet does pass and Play Store says it's certified.
My banking apps are also working fine so I managed to stay on this ROM for a long time.
Seems like I'll end up wiping my phone and try other ROMs or flash the stock firmware. I'll keep googling before Saturday comes.

Oof. Ok. As a last resort, you could try Magisk and its MagiskHide feature. In the app you can tell it to spoof to your specified apps.
Dunno if that'll work, but I'm mentioning it because you don't have to reset your system to install Magisk.
Apps can also look for folders like TWRP in phone storage, and then refuse to function. Mario Kart is one of those games that try to search for such folders.
So if you have folders or apps, that could reveal that you're running a modified system, pay attention to that.

My bootloader is unlocked and i'm using stock OOS rooted with ElementalX kernel.
I'm all stock and my device is "Certified".
Means you are failing safetynet. Some apps won't even appear.

Anything that breaks Safetynet. Most commonly root or even unlocked bootloader without a custom kernel (on some devices).
I don't have this device right now so I'm not sure if unlocked bootloader effects it but it does on Nexus/Pixel.
If it's root there are some ways to hide it possibly.

Its new maybe less then a month since they started doing it with PlayStore.
I know on Nexus you can use magisk to hide root. I have not looked into details. You will have to research if it's possible on your device.
Unlocked bootloader is easy. All custom kernels have a patch to hide it.

I'm on OOS 4.0.3, unlocked bootloader, rooted with SuperSU, Magisk installed and with a custom (Franco r12) kernel. Play store is stating that my device is uncertified as well.
My banking app closes itself whenever I launch it, which I'm assuming is because I tripped safetynet. Oddly enough, when I uninstalled and re-installed the banking app, it seems to work now. While I can still update and download free apps on Play Store, I can't seem to buy paid apps. Whenever I get to the payment window and click "Buy", the Play Store app closes itself.
I had all of the above modifications while I was on OOS 4.0.2 and I didn't notice any problems. Purchasing apps worked fine before updating. I'm also getting the DM-Verity message during boot now, which I didn't have before updating.
I'm uncertified too but my banking apps work tdbank and capital one apps... On oos 4.0.3 rooted with ElementalX
Had this for a few weeks already.
With Magisk and Magisk hide should make it show up as Certified.
If not, clear the Play Store's app data and it should fix it.

I'm using SuperSu as root!
Magisk is the only way?
Thread closed at OP's request.
Sorry for creating a thread about this, but I'm not sure if it goes under the bug reporting thread! If it's in the wrong place please let me know!
I've tried every solution that I've been able to find, none have worked! I've attached screenshots of the problems.
I haven't tried reflashing my phone with a stock ROM just because it'll be a lot more work than it's worth imo.
I've tried uninstalling Magisk, running the unSU zip to remove all trace files, but other people with the same error say it has to do with their internet somehow blocking the safetynet files?
If someone would please let me know why it's happening I'd really appreciate it!

It's google. Their servers are wonky. It even fails when going back to stock completely. Save yourself the trouble and just ignore. As long as google play store still says certified, wouldn't worry about it. Dealt with this issue quite awhile and this is the conclusion.
Ignore or otherwise you be pulling your hair out with pass fail pass fail fail, or the reponse is invalid. So just ignore and happy rooting

It's weird because when Pokemon Go came out with the SafetyNet **** it was bypassed just fine, but when I tried to get fortnite working it said this, and when I checked again it started saying I failed
Yeah, this happens pretty often lately.
I usually enable core only mode in the Magisk Manager settings, reboot, test safetynet, disable core only mode, and then reboot again.
Fixes it for a while (in my experience).

Here's why SafetyNet isn't working: because all apps on Play Store, including Magisk Manager, uses the old API, which is recently blocked!

Bruh....it's not actually failing. Any app that requires the safety net check will still work. This just means Magisk uses an old API that is no longer in use so it can no longer check safetynet properly until its updated. If you passed safety net before you'll be passing it now.

CTS Profile reporting false means your device isn't certified by Google (China ROM?), you have an unlocked bootloader or you are using a custom ROM that isn't spoofing a certified device.

I have Magisk v.16.7 installed on both a Galaxy S5 (Marshmallow) and Galaxy Tab S3 (Oreo) and have been getting "The response is invalid" message for awhile on both devices when running the check on Magisk Manager. I have installed various of the SafetyNet checking apps from the Play Store and SafetyNet test fails on many, but does pass on a couple. I have found the the app SafetyNet Check has been reliable as it shows CTS Profile match and Basic Integrity pass on both my devices.
Just to be sure that the Galaxy S5 would work with Google Pay, I had installed the GooglePayHider4Magisk but don't think it was necessary.
I have a completely stock device. Not rooted or custom recovery. I downloaded the app mentioned on the previous page and I still get safetynet failed. Clearly Google screwed something up.
Sorry if this is a repeat question I couldn't find the exact answer I need.
I have the Android one Google fi variant X4 , recently I had to unlock my bootloader and reflash Payton fi due to corrupt os error message.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to flash a custom kernel like magisk or another in order to pass security check for Netflix, Google pay , etc.
Is there a way to do it without having to lose my data again? I don't really want to relock my bootloader either in case of more issues.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Is Netflix, Google pay or other things failing to work? Have you checked your safetynet status? There are apps in the google play store that can check it.
---------- Post added at 07:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:12 AM ----------
You shouldn't lose your data just by installing magisk. Here is the official magsik thread where you can find Installation Instructions and the magisk installation files.
Generally magisk installation would go like this:
Download the magisk installation zip onto your x4.
Follow instructions on this page twrp.me/motorola/motorolamotox4.html to boot into twrp.
Flash the magisk installation zip using twrp.
I probably should have added a little more information.
I was going to add some screenshots I'm too new though so I'm not allowed to yet.
Widevine cdm says: security L1
Google play says: play protect, device not supported. This is even after adding it on the Google page
Netflix says device not compatible with this version, even though I had it before unlocking my bootloader
Google pay says: Your phone doesn't meet software standards. You can't pay contactless with this device. It may be rooted, or using uncertified software.
I should also add that when I had to reflash a couple weeks ago it was the first time I used adb/fastboot

I know when one is new to this stuff it can be a bit daunting.
So I just want to check that you need to pass safetynet. Do you want to use google pay? That's the number one thing that needs safetynet. Some banking apps and some games might also look for safetynet.
Netflix should work, once you get it installed.
My x4 just recently changed to failing safetynet. Not sure what triggered it but none of the apps I use seem to care so I haven't bothered trying to return to passing safetynet. Netflix still works. Though it doesn't show up in the goggle play store on my x4. It shows in Aurora Store I use Aurora because it has app search filters & selective app updating plus it avoids annoyances like goggle play claiming netflix isn't compatible. Apps still come from direct from google servers, Aurora just serves as an alternate interface. For me, Netflix has never seemed to care about safetynet or visible root on the x4 or my tablet. You could also sideload netflix from apkmirror.com (they verify app signatures, showing that apps are not altered).

My tablet says not certified. Netflix still works.
Yes it's in the Google play settings that it says that. So it sounds like I could possibly use Netflix by downloading from an alternate app store or apk mirror.
I'd still like to be able to use Google pay again as well. I don't want to install a new rom but I read somewhere that a custom kernel could fix it.
I looked at the magisk page and I guess I'm a little confused about whether I'd be installing a new rom with it. I'd like to be able to go back to ota updates when they become available. I'm a fan of the Google experience which is why I don't really want to switch roms
Yes I want to pass safetynet
Hi , there's an app which is not working on rooted devices ,but it does work on unrooted custom ROM, called Mpesa App , actually there's two apps by the same company , both of them don't work , basically used for mobile Money . It fails at the first screen saying device is locked.
Am running A11 , Magisk 22.1 and Magisk canary APK , safety net passes successfully
Steps done :
1.basic Magisk hide toggling on
2.Hidden the full package with random(setting name)
3.Deleted Magisk itself
3.Renamed TWRP folder
4.Used Riru + Riru unshare + Riru + XPrivacy
5.Used Riru momohider+ Riru unshare
6.Use isolation mode
7.Used island app
I guess I tried those will add if I remember it , yeah and still I couldn't pass the first screen , any assistance is appreciated .

For the record, I had no issues hiding Magisk from either of those apps. Just added them to the Hide list and they were good to go... Magisk app repackaged with a random name, of course, and no TWRP directory, Titanium backup or other known directories or apps that are used to "detect" root. Other than that I use nothing special (no Xposed type frameworks installed, etc).
In other words, it's perfectly possible for Magisk to hide from those apps.
