Who got the Android Wear 2.0 update - Asus ZenWatch 3

Hi,
just wanted to know if anyone got the Android Wear 2.0 update for his Zenwatch 3 already, as we don´t have an exact timeframe from Asus.
All I know is that Google released the software for existing devices to manufacturers on 15 February.
This will need to be tested by individual companies before it is sent as an over-the-air update.
So if anyone got the update already please let us know...
:good:

I would have thought that we should get this quickly, as Asus had planned on releasing the watch with 2.0 originally.

Unfortunately nothing with Android happens quickly.

I think it will be at least mid of March.

But aw 2.0 changed quite a bit since then. As well I am thinking since Google showcased two new watches with 2.0 they are probably not going to allow the final version to go out right away. I am also thinking mid March

Seems a bit like unfair competition to me, especially since Google KNEW that Asus planned on this watch being a 2.0 watch. I would guess we will see it around the first week of March, hopefully anyway.

Seems like we have to wait until late spring/early summer:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/0...-get-android-wear-2-0-q2-2017-according-asus/
Ridiculous, considering that it was meant to ship with AW2.0
I bet other companies are way faster here.

This is Twitter ASUS North America. My knowledge is, that north america is quite late when it comes to Updates from Android Wear. So maybe we are lucky and we get it earlier.
Hope dies at last :good: :fingers-crossed:

Maybe other region get it earlier than US.
Don't give your hopes guys.
Never regret getting this so beautiful and attractive watch while being light, compact size and very comfortable wearing it since all other alternative is either bulkier, heavier and uglier LG/Huawei new smartwatch announced on February or limited support with Tizen OS gear s3 with a lot of compromises on other device except Samsung one and very poor app store support.

I guess I'm in the minority in that I don't see what the big deal is about 2.0. My ZW3 is working perfectly fine, and it's the nicest looking AW watch to date. I don't really see what the game changer is with 2.0 for this watch. It doesn't have NFC and doesn't have a rotating crown, so what's the rush? I'm not trying to be snarky, I just genuinely don't understand.

I agree with most of what you said, but it could be a little more snappy (other watches with the same chip are) and battery life could be better. I think, asus developed on base of 2.0, but Google stopped it so they had to switch "quick and dirty" to 1.5. At least that's my feeling with the watch. After that Google changed a lot and they have to adapt a lot now...

I give +1 point but with the exception of lacking NFC and no any benefit from Android pay + no rotating crown witch is LG Watch specific feature and not Android Wear 2.0 we will be benefit in improvements on other aspects Android Wear 2.0 is bringing.
Here's all new feature and improvements Wear 2.0 is bringing.
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/new-prod...lease-date-new-features-upgrade-list-3640616/
That doesn't mean that I'm in a rush of getting it right away and if not it's the end of the world right??
But on the other hand when buying any kind product we all expect support from the manufacturer and that every OEM should offer with feature update with improvements and new features too.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm looking forward to the software improvements coming from 2.0. I'm just confused by all of the people saying they're returning the watch and buying an S3 or what have you. All because of the delay in getting 2.0 until Q2. That just seems odd to me since the watch is still really nice even without 2.0.

We've raised an entire generation that requires instant gratification. The reality of life will be harsh for those folks.

Asus Benelux told me that they are planning to launch Android Wear 2.0 in April 2017.

My watch just randomly rebooted into recovery and started updating something while charging. Maybe it is 2.0? we'll see.

Hate to be "that guy" but showing pics of the front and back mean nothing to me. .. for all I know you are trying to sell these things in ebay and you are linking people to this site with the ol "go check out the pics and comments"... it is mega simple for you to post pics of a BS back and jacked up about screen on a knock off gear and screen shots of a legit gear in the same post and pass them off as the same device. .... like I said not to sound like that guy ... just saying what I think. .. You purchased it "from a guy"? Seems legit. But seriously if you think this is a real Gear, you're wildly mistaken. In fact there are a lot of different rip offs - see below.
The camera doesn't work because it's a fake - furthermore, it's not even running Tizen, as your firmware states : V700XXUBNC1, (AKA android).
Buy cheap, buy thrice and enjoy your cheap knock off

Why wouldn't you update to Tizen considering it's better in every way?! If you think it's genuine, then maybe Tizen will fix your camera issue? Plug it into your PC, what does Samsung Kies say about your device?

Ya I don't think the camera's going to work. It's obviously a very good fake, fair play, but you're not going to get that working. It's a shame because it's the best feature of the gear imo!

Off topic I know, but I am interested in the 'its better in every way?' comment about Tizen. Early on there were teething probems it seemed but it is have been difficult to obtain up to date feedback. I have a Gear that I am considering moving to Tizen, but I have been waiting to learn if early problems have all gone away or were not real anyway.

It depends on your problems. My issue was lack of apps. Now the store for Tizen is saturated compared to its former iteration. The battery is better, the way it deals with notifications (esp delete all)! The fact it can play music to a BT device are to name a few. For me I'd not even consider going back to Android.
@hurdlejade Definitely each to their own!

This was quite a big update. Mine needed ca. 1/2 hour to update with several restarts and I needed to reset to factory and configure watch again resulting in 50% battery-loss.
So, I have a new watch (that I haven't opened, yet), and I'm thinking that I should just wait for Android Wear 2.0 to come out before my first usage, rather than install an update now, and another big update in a couple of weeks.
What do you all think?

Well as far as I know its never been confirmed our watch (original urbane) will get 2.0 I don't know they have made a statement either way actuallu. Now if you have the lte urbane yes you will get 2.0 but waiting seems silly either way. You spend all that money on a watch why not use it?
Yeah not really understanding the thought process on that. You've bought it. Just use it and enjoy it. Android wear 2.0 will be a nice chance if we get it, but there is nothing wrong with the current software.

on spanish lg urbane site it states that this watch has 2.0
as a physical button is a requirement (which the urbane has) it's very likely to get 2.0 while seeing they are putting out a good job delivering security patches.
I've read numerous sources saying the Urbane will get Wear 2. And given that it's LG's last generation of smartwatch behind only the Urbane 2nd edition, and that it fulfils all hardware requirements to get the update, it really wouldn't speak well of LG's support for their hardware if they refuse to give it the update. And strictly speaking, the Watch R should also get it given that the only difference between it and the Urbane is visual, but as that is two generations back it's perhaps expecting a little too much.
I for one will be p****d if LG leave the Urbane behind with this update.

I've always been of the mind that people are more likely to post to complain than otherwise. You rarely see, "hey, this is great!" .. I think it is often assumed that posting those kinds of comments add nothing to the discussion, so people don't do it...

If it turns out to be true and even if they they just push it to those who oped in for soak test and whatnot and not a full out release in the next few weeks i am happy with Lenovo and this phone. I love what Lenovo did with the phone. I said updates will make or break it and i was scared about that when they said they could not commit to the security patches. But were getting those patches and have a word on the update so far so good. Hope they keep it up. This is the best phone out all around.
I'll still believe it when I see it. Moto has really been sucking badly on updates the last few years.

I agree 100% the funny part is I decided I needed a non samsung device as soon as I saw that lil wayne commercial that had him dumping champagne on the phone. I told coworkers that wanted the Note 7 prior to the release to get this phone instead because Samsung spent far too much for lil wayne for proper research and development, they all made fun of me...until the note started exploding.

Off topic but the issue is simple with the Note 7. I checked this my self. But its not cheap for them and the "Fixed" ones were not fixed and there was no way for them to fix it.
Simple version. The IC samsung chosen to handle the monitoring of the voltage for the battery was the cheapest they could find. That being said they can be way off in terms of calibration. The note 7 i had charged my battery to 4.9v. Phone would read 4.405v but a fluke on the batt reads 4.921v. And that is dangerous. So for all i know they could be charging to 5+ volts and no wounder they are bursting into flames. Issue has nothing to do with the battery and changing it wont do a thing. Its an issue with the ic on the board. And the IC has been used in other things that handle li-ion and li-po related charging and also caused problems on them.
Back on topic.
So we get 7.0 before the end of the year. Im guessing November. So far so good on the updates. But im wondering if they are going 7.0 or just going to jump to 7.1. Chances are no 7.1 that fast but so far the updates have been good. And the moto mod updates have been amazing. I would like to see 7.0 by Nov. 17th. But we prob wont see the roll out start until the end of Nov.

Not that I'm aware of. I've done plenty of soak tests for previous Moto devices and I got invites for soak tests for the camera and projector (which I don't have either), but I never got one for the phone. The update just popped up for me last night.
So far the only Nougat issues I'm having is the fact that my Ambient Moto Display no longer works. Slightly annoying, but it could be worse.

Do a hard reset, it's always recommended to do a hard reset after a major update for optimal performance and user experience.

Not really, the complaint level of AW2 is so high, of laggy performance, we may be having a favor done for us as tuning is being done before we get. There was an update for earlier released watches this last day which is getting positive feedback. So that is making me think we'll get it very soon now, I think tomorrow.

I downloaded and saved the most recent AW1.5 and AW2 DP. I tried AW2 DP and it was awful, so went back to AW1.5 which I saved in case when AW2 officially released it is still awful.
We're being done a favor getting AW2 late but now I see happy noises on the June release, I'm seeing less reason to wait. But if there is a reason its no bad thing. The only thing I can't do is Android Pay.
If anyone does have the time to try AW2 then by all means flash DP and realize its a totally different everything interface, as I've been on AW now >2 years I find it awkward interface, noobs would take less retraining.
Someone likely has the googleapis link, I just have the file locally backedup.
Android Wear 2.0 fow the W200* is finaly here (well via OTA in Korea... For us via adb sideload )

Yes I have the AT&T model, W200A. I used the minimal adb and fastboot tool to sideload the zip file from my PC. I didn't have to unlock the bootloader.
i updated my w200a today with the korea version. however it felt more like another preview than a final release. Lag is present like on the preview, overheats somewhat easily and the battery drains way faster when you are using it than when you are on 1.5. At least this is my case on the w200a. I did a fsctory reset to see if that solved but no. Same result.
I have the at&t urbane 2 LTE (unlocked)
Until today I was running developer preview (nemo-nvf41u-factory-e269c504)
I had an update come through which has given me:
build number NXH20E
(ANDROID WEAR 2.0.0.159006699)
with security patch 1st May 2017.
The top and bottom buttons are working (re programmed through the options)
Android pay works.
I am in the UK.

I'm in the US and I updated using ADB and the file captured from the ota in Korea and these numbers match exactly to mine.
Found any bugs/issues yet? I've had an occasional lag or two. Android Pay is working and I've successfully tracked runs with GPS using ghostracer paired to the phone through cell data (my main usage requirement).
Not found any bugs on mine.
I have a few side loaded apps that may have been causing the odd glitch now and again whilst on the developer preview, but nothing since the update.
(Side loaded es file explorer so I could use MP3 ringtone on the watch & Google drive to download / upload)
I'm in the US with ATT version. Just got OTA last night. So far so good.

Do not buy mate 10.. Or anything by huawei for that matter

The cliche of Chinese products being flawed is unfortunately extending even to well known brands like Huawei which I was hoping wouldn't be the case.
Not long ago I returned yet another dysfunctional piece of kit from a Chinese company and I'm on the verge of returning my Mate 10.
If I knew better I'd also return my Mate 9.
The Mate 9 has had a lot of issues (GPS for example) and for me, ruining my holiday, the random inability to change network settings to allow data roaming. Only a back up and hard reset which took the best part of a day worked.
Now the Mate 10 has the well documented horrific flaw of not updating widgets. What's worse is there is COMPLETE silence from Huawei over this issue despite repeated attempts through various channels for a response by me.
My phone is pretty much unusable. Widgets are the crowning glory of Android and the reason I jumped ship from iPhone and stayed. Without reliable updating widgets the phone is little more than a brick.
With my two experiences with Huawei phones I can categorically say that they are just unreliable sub-par products sadly.
My Samsungs have all had hardware issues (battery related), btu at least whilst they were intact they worked flawlessly as advertised, fit for purpose. The Huaweis are not even getting to the stage to be used enough for the hardware to fail as they are just not fit for purpose - far too buggy.
I hope I never touch a Huawei product again and can only hope that the competitors build phones with specs good enough to compete.
ok

Thanks for the feedback. Perhaps the 10 Pro is different.
For me and for many others (check the threads) this is a big deal that is as yet unresolved even with yesterday's update.
No problems here with my Mate 10.
Using Huawei phones since 2013 and no plans to change yet.

Hehe I could do, but I don't hate Huawei really, I just wouldn't recommend people buy their products based on my (and a whole multi-page threadful of) experiences on the flaws with this phone and Huawei's comically bad response to it, which so far seems to be "if widgets do't work that's not our fault - they are third party apps - you wouldn't buy a car and put a truck engine in it so why are you installing widgets?"... no BS, check out the thread. They are ridiculous. But nowhere near as Apple and their deliberate slowing of phones. My Mate 9 actuall gets faster with use - exactly as Huawei claims., They do do some stuff right!
The widget updating issue is frustrating, but rooting (as I explained in the thread) solves the issue by letting you freeze the responsible system app. You may not want to root -- and I agree that you shouldn't have to root to fix this issue -- but you might be a much happier camper if you did.
Mate 10 pro here and no problem with my widgets.

Not sure which Widgets you use, but it's mainly the scrolling types that freeze up.
Ok. No scrolling widget. Will try my mail widget later.
Had a p9 since they first came out and now a mate 10 pro. Best phones I have had and don't see any of those issues. Neither of them were rooted either.
No problem on my mate 10 pro. It's strange this message. Just now that the all patriotic America has fear of other smartphone maker. There aren't just apple or samsung...

Ah... it's such a big thread it's got to 12 or 13 pages now (yes guys.... this is a big problem and no i'm not the only one) that I must've missed your solution. Every solution' has come back a couple of days later with "no sorry the problem persists". I'm open to rooting if need be I'm just scared to do it largely because mine is a CHinese one with an international ROM put on it, I have no idea how that will pan out. Or how it will affect other aspects of EMUI. Might be going down a rabbithole there... might be best to return it and buy... well... there's nothing else that comes close to this sadly Grrr.
what a troll... can one of the admins close this thread? please?
