Hey guys, I am not so sure how to describe this problem, but I'll just tell you what exactly is happening.
Firstly, the main problem is whenever I connect to WIFI/3G, the phone shuts itself down in about 2 mins of use, even if the battery is at about 70%+. After I turn it back on, it only has 1%- and it shuts down again. I tried to turn it in Recovery mod, so the battery will completely discharge (with screen on), but it didnt happen. Then I turned it on again- And now the battery was 20%
Now, I noticed that I can use the phone for music (I listened to music for 1.5 hours straight without it turning off) (also, it didnt have a SIM card inside, so it was on Airplane Mode).
I bought the phone a year and a half ago, and used it for about a year (changed MANY roms when it was mine), and about 6 months ago, I gave it to my mom cuz I bought myself a Galaxy Nexus. I left her with CM9 or Darkys rom (not so sure about that), and she told me about this problem 2 months ago.
Im not so sure the problem is with the battery, because I have the main battery, and 2 other batteries ordered from eBay (weaker ones).
Also, the main (and maybe just a bit of the 2 other) battery inflated (not so sure how to say that, as English is not my main language) so much that you cant even close the back door of the phone.
I tried changing Roms, from GB to JB- nothing helped. Willing to hear everything you got.
Thanks, Mark.
My phone has UB and been using different custom roms, but nothing outside of stock roms. I never overclocked it, but the top half of the phone would get warm from normal use. After using it for about a half hour I put it on the bed, with nothing else near it. I was the only person in the room, and after 10 minutes, I picked up my phone and realised the screen was broken. The phone was cold, so i realised my air conditioning was directly blowing onto the phone for the past 10 minutes. So i assumed, it was the hot and cold mixture that caused the LCD to shatter into 5 hairline cracks.
I recently carried it to a very good technician, who replaced my LCD with a witrigs.com replacement screen. He did a very good job, but from day 1 i've noticed the upper half of the phone gets hot randomly throughout the day with little use. The longer I keep the screen on, the hotter the phone got, and sometimes i would use the phone for long periods without it getting extremely hot. Today I tried to use the camera in broad sunlight and I got the error that the camera had to close to cool down my Xperia.
Does anyone have any tips as to why its over heating or what could solve it? I've tried different roms and kernels but nothing changes.
You can see at the bottom of the phone is where the crack started and it split thruout the entire LCD
Hello, my z1 was also heating by normal use. Then the screen broken. Why ever.
Yesterday I got my new z1 from the provider. No heating (I play Ingress) all things fine again
2 days ago when putting the phone in the water afterwards the screen started to flicker, closing it for a while decreased the frequency of the flickering however this did not resolve it, I did the device tests which came out fine however the brightness is stuck and increasing/decreasing it won't make a difference, touch is operational. Phone is 4 months old, software updated a week ago (did not put in water since), have yet to try restoring. Help is appreciated!
Put it in a bowl of rice for a day. Maybe water somehow got into it.
Hi there, I just purchased new a Nexus 6, love the phone, seems that all new phones all looking like a Samsung or iPhone which is not good.
The phone just purchased is new out of the box from eBay and shipped over from Hong Kong.
When the phone is idle I get a good day out of it buy when in use I can see the banner count dropping very quickly, if I had to use it for an hour on the phone I would guess that the banner would drain to 0. If I play around with the phone I would assume that it wont last more than 2 hours at the most.
Is this a common issue with the phone or should I assume that the phone has been sitting in a warehouse for the past 4 years with no use causing an issue with the banner to deplete so quickly.
I was also wondering if it is was worth replacing the battery or is it an issue with the phone?
A few days ago I noticed the phone shutting down when at 15%, since then I re-booted the phone in safe mode, worked with it for a few hours, then back to normal mode and it seems that it now drains to 0.
Any help appreciated.

4 years ago, my Nexus 6, out of the box, had battery drain, mainly caused by the amoled screen.
I installed the No wallpaper app to make the background black and use only apps with a black or dark theme.
Since then I can use the N6 in any case from 9 to 5.
Now using Beltz-rom with built-in black theme and ElementalX kernel. Rooted with Magisk 1600.
Although my battery is 4 years old; still working. I've never used quick charging only slow wireless charging.
Replacing the battery is a hassle because there's a lot of glue. But when my battery dies after more than 4 years use, I'll try to replace it. But probably I will buy the new One Plus 6.

Assuming you're on stock 7.1.1, try to boot into bootloader (fastboot mode) by powering off and then rebooting by holding down power button and vol. down button, cycle into "bootloader logs" using volume down button, and then holding power button for 15 sec until it reboots on its own back to "GOOGLE" logo and then let go. This resets the battery calibration and should fix issue--if not, replacing battery can be done--watch YouTube video before doing it.

TL;DR: What do I need to do to get usable battery life after last years (December) PIE update? I abandoned the phone after that so I don't know if it ever got fixed.
Screenshot of my amazing 2 hour battery life

My phone dropped 10% 77-66 on a 5 minute google Duo call over WiFi... This dumpster fire is unusable.
* USB C port went to crap inside of two months but I'm in US so no warranty.
* Had to charge phone with cord at a weird angle, but I could live
* Then the software update from hell.
* I went from multiple days usage on a charge to now 6 hours with the screen off (YES SCREEN OFF)
* Now I'll get like ~2 hours screen on time and that is it.
I guess other people did not get it as bad as me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I stopped using the phone for months because it was impossible to charge. After using a bit of paper to shim the port and charging it while off for two days it's at 100%. I installed a system update hoping the battery would be fixed then factory reset it 3 times and **** is still sooo whack... Lost 10% in 5 minute video call...
I don't want to bother with fixing the charging port and screen (that's cracked too now) if I can't make this thing usable...
What software update gets the battery not a **** show again?

Whatever you said is true, I also face the usb port issue right after 2 months of purchase. I live in India and bought the device from UAE.
Once I replaced usb board in a local shop, but still I'll need to find piece of papers to fix the gap in the charging portion, and this process sucks.
Also have problems with display, sometimes it will freeze for a moment. Then the battery drain issue..
I never thought Nokia will bring a rebirth with such a piece of crap, never in my life..
I was totally wrong, Samsung s series is way to better.. now I'm stuck with this ****.:crying:
Vickybhai 676, I am guessing your battery drain is not as bad as mine... Just added a screenshot literally 2 hours battery life from full charge so count your blessings... This phone is cursed...
*EDIT
Check out the thread I made on Reddit for what took me from 2 hours battery life on full charge to 1 day 14 hours. I sincerely hoe this helps you!
