Samsung Backup Fails for Home screen - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As per the title, every time the Samsung Backup works for everything apart from the "Home screen" which fails. The notification says "Failed to back up device data" and "A server error has occurred."
Is this the same for everyone, and does anyone know of a fix?
Regards.

Do you mean gps or gprs? if your talkin bwt ur gprs its common that a carrier will drop an internet connection when an antenna is full dont worry its not a problem just reconnect
hi
I am talking about GPS....when i connect gps software and it doesnt find a signal it shows that message. i know its not a problem / issue with the phone. i just want to turn that poping messge off as it is annoying and pops up in screen time and again
We are also getting this error message (and we are using GPRS). It has the effect of stopping our application interacting with the internet until the user presses the 'Dismiss' button.
Our application will automatically reconnect when the phone is able to get a GPRS connection. My question is can we stop the message/dialog appearing by capturing the event in our application? (We can't always wait for the user to clear the message)
exactly...its so frustrating clicking that "dismiss" button everytime
Same problem on the HTC Touch Pro.
Same problem here on ATT's stock Rom 1.95.502.5 WWE. It started about two weeks ago when I noticed my phone was dead when I got home from work (which is highly unusual for it to even go below 50% without me running to charge it). I keep noticing "Cannot Connect" bubbles from my [H] data symbol.

The only way I could get rid of the problem was to do a soft reset with the stylus. About a week ago I got really good and disgusted with it and decided that I was going to try a new radio and see if that helps. I went with 12.12.25.19 and the matching .dll file. After doing that the error seemed to go away for 2-3 days. Now starting this past Friday afternoon I'm back to the constant cannot connect bubbles. I'm not even sure what program is trying to connect because MemMaid says none of them are open except TouchFlo!
At least with the new radio I can go into Settings > Communication and toggle in and out of airplane mode which fixes the problem for 30 minutes at a time.
I don't mind the pop-ups, I mind the fact they prevent my screen from fully going to sleep which is killing my battery life! My screen will dim with the pop-ups but it won't go completely off which gives me about 3-4 hours battery life if I don't check it. Now I'm a compulsive phone-checker (I feel like those crackberry addicts) just to keep turing the screen off!

[Q] Captivate: "Can not download at this time. Please try again later."

I recently started getting a pop up message at the bottom of my screen stating: "Can not download at this time. Please try again later." The message stays there for hours at a time and then will randomly disappear. I am not trying to download anything when it appears and I haven't been able to find a solution to get ride of the message that blocks the bottom part of my screen.
Is anyone else having this issue? It only started 2 days ago.
Same deal here and also I cannot data connect, I haven't done anything new these past two days so I hope some one knows
i've gotten that message too. the only way i could get rid of it was to restart the phone. no idea how it showed up
I was getting the same issue. I tried ending the SNS service and it stopped. It's probably from syncing to social networks.
awkwardsilence50: I tried disabling the SNS Service and it didn't seem to make a difference for me. I also don't have any social networking services syncing on my phone. Has this fix continued to work for you?
did you guys try updating? maybe it's trying to update but can't...
I have been getting this error as well. Based on my personal experience, it seems to be related to the "Weather & Toggle Widget" by Android Apps. I seem to always get that message when I have a bad network connection and that widget tries to update location and weather data. I have unistalled the widget and reinstalled it a couple times, and I only seem to get that message when I have the widget installed. MP13, I happen to know that you have that widget installed as well.

[Q] browser troubleshooting question

Hi, couldn't find this anywhere so asking for help. The problem is on an att captivate flashed to stock 2.2, rooted, and non-market apps have been allowed (by edited the settings database file). Browser is I'm assuming 2.2. On wifi the native browser comes up with the following message "no network connection" "cannot connect to internet please check your connection settings and try again", but if left alone or if “ok” is selected the page continues to load, however if “retry” is selected the message is repeated. Firefox mobile and Opera Mobile both work fine. After rebooting the problem goes away for a short time. Clearing the caches, cookies, etc had no effect, nor did wiping the app’s data. This is way over my head so I really appreciate any help. Many thanks, Josh
This is happening for me as well after the official 2.2 release yesterday. Did you have any luck chasing down a solution?
not yet
(The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.)
Me too... very annoying, does it to almost every page, and yet the page loads in the background, you can see it loading, such a bad bug. Not good for showing off to your iphone loving friends.
Thankfully this hasn't been an issue on 2.3. Or at least I've yet to see it.

[Q] Can I use "Got another device" settings transfer after initial setup?

I've got a new SM-910T with Android 6.0.1 (N910TUVS2EQB1) stock firmware
The first-time setup offers the Google "Got another device" NFC transfer.
But my current phone with Android 5.1.1 (N910TUVU2DOK2) won't find any "nearby devices" from Google Setup.
Can I skip over the "Got another device" and complete the initial setup on the new phone, and then come back and try that function later?
If so, where do I find it?

Here's the issue:
It does nothing with the suggested back-to-back NFC alone. On the new phone, I select Try another Way.
The old phone says searching for devices for a while, then eventually "no devices found"
If I put them back to back, I get a sound and the old phone says Touch to beam '.
Then it goes back to "searching for devices" and soon "no devices found"
When trying multiple times, sometimes the NFC position gives the message "Connecting To Device..."
That displays for a few seconds. Then a small notification "Sorry something went wrong".
Then it goes back to "searching for devices" and soon "no devices found".
OK - I'm moving on.
Sadly, a common situation --- a new "feature" introduced -- Doesn't work -- no documentation - no explanation.
I'll just keep using Titanium Backup!

How to remove "Device Projection Privacy Consent" message?

Hi all. When I connect my new phone (Pixel 6a) to my car (Vauxhall Astra), I get the "Device Projection Privacy Consent" message on the display. Once I press "continue", then android Auto opens and it's working fine. However, this message comes up every time I connect my phone. My partners phone (same model) only showed this message the first time, and now Android Auto connects automatically.
Anyone got any idea why I get this message every single time I connect, and what I can do about it? I've no idea where the setting for this would be stored.
Thanks for any help,
Lee
