Hello guys/girls, i got a real serious problem on my nexus 6, the usb doesn't work... i aleardy tried to format, but the computer connection does not work either, and it didn't seem to work when i tried to format from my phone itself. remote connected adb didn't work either, and even installing a custom rom from the stock recovery didn't work (it writes "failed to mount sd card storange"). any ideas how to fix that? I can still charge it, but now when i charge it the battery usage writes "charging over usb" instead of just "charging". before it happend, it wrote "charging over usb" when i connected it to a computer... also, the fast charging does not work, it charges to 100 percent from 0 percent at something like 10 hours
I am have android nougat 7.0.0.
update: also, now i realized that if my phone isn't charging, it will automatically turn off...

Hi... Your phone is not recognized in bootloader either? Have you already tried to flash a factory image?

Usually the problem lies with the cable or the USB port. The ports can get dirty allowing it to charge but not data transfer. A bad cable can do the same thing. There are people who have had to replace the port.
The OTA history was more like 7.0 to 7.1.0 to 7.1.1 [emoji6]
usb port
I did clean the Usb port and i did use several cables, tested on other phones. I'm a IT ingenior in France, with some soldering skill. I did change the battery, in an attempt to increase it's short duration without fast charge... but no result. I think it may be related to this :
www . androidpolice . com/2017/03/15/google-sending-android-7-0-ota-update-nexus-6-phones-running-7-1-1/#1
Since the device isn't recognize by any pc through USB, anyone with the same symptoms since this update managed to get back to 7.1.1 without USB?

Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with my incs lately, it WILL ONLY charge on any mode other than charge only... That means I can only charge it using a computer on either usb tether/usb storage. (When its in USB Storage, I can read my SD card from my computer)
The problem come when i tried to try the USB host using the Y cable, I think i messed up somewhere. The phone thinks that there is a data session running INTO my device, and to make things worse, I set my USB to PC connection to Disk Drive by default. After I unplug the device from the Y cable the Disk Drive symbol still exist and the led (orange) still lighting up. I connect it to the charger and plug off, it seems to turn off the disk mount and led. However after that point, I can't never charge using charger/usb charge only. (Its a flash drive and a 5VDC power source on the other end of the Y cable if you are wondering)
I have tried flashing different ROMs, even charge when the device is off, charge in recovery, and wipe battery status. None works.
So... For now I think I fried the USB controller, so can anyone suggest any solution? HW replacement or a SW that will make the phone think all plug that goes to the microusb is a data? or any other?
Thank you in advance

Well, I failed using it, I was using ARHD, and there was no USB host capability.
Can someone suggest what the problem might be? Is it just the port or something deeper? If its just port, thank god this spare part is avaiable

You can change what it defaults to, can't you? Change it to charge only mode. How is your device unlocked and have you done any other mods?
I can assure you its not something to do with the mod/software. Currently the phone cant be charged t all unless you charge the battery separately.
I think when i plug a charger , the current goes in reverse direction, making it discharge even faster, rather than charging

That's actually not possible, but you may have a charger issue. Have you tried another one?

Well this problem drives me crazy.
My phone (i9070) doesn't make any sound when I plug it on my computer or charger and no charging indication appears either on the phone.
On computer side device appears under the storage devices.
However is seems that the power connection is working since if I restart the phone while the power plug is still connected the charging indicator appears. In addition after the restart the battery seems to reach 100% extremely soon (which is not normal at all). Unplugging the charger (or the computer) doesnt detected either by phone, the charging indicator is still active until restart.
I tried to factory reset the device and still "no juice".
I have tried 3 different cables with two computers where the device was connected few days ago without any problem.
I don't know what should I suspect.
Faulty battery? Faulty data connection on phone plug? OS based issue?
Any ideas?

What ROM and what kernel you are using?
Sent from my GT-I9070 using Tapatalk
Sorry forgot to mention these info:
Kernel
3.0.31-CoCore-EP-8.2
Updated to 8.2 after the problems I had CoCore 8.0 until the problem appeared.
ROM
LightJB v1.2
I used to work with JellyMod v4.0 until the problem appeared and I switched to LIghtJB v1.2 to test if the problem fixed but the same behavior here.
Should I replace my battery?
Is there any way to check if the USB connection gets detected by the phone hardware (a diagnostic procedure)?

Hi All,
I also have the same problem.....
Can anyone help me.....
Hi there HTC fans.,
I'm having a problem with my HTC Desire 500, and I really need your help because I can't really figure out the cause of it. Basically, my phone just doesn't want to charge anymore.
The problem first started at work. I had to download some photos from my phone into the PC from work, and I did that using a data cable from one of my colleagues. At first, the phone didn't connect to the PC, but after I unplugged it and connect it back, it worked and I was able to copy the photos I needed. However, a notification message appeared on my HTC's screen. The message was "Your phone is in USB Host Mode" or something like that. I'm having this Desire 500 for about 6 months and this message never appeared before when I copied things from or into my phone. I ignored that message and I unplugged the data cable and carried on my work.
When I went home, I tried to charge my phone but that didn't worked. I tried the both ways available: directly with AC charger and connected to my PC. But nothing happened; no charging signal, no red LED on. Nothing. I tried to go into fastboot, and even made a factory reset, but still the phone didn't charge.
However, I noticed today that somehow (by a miracle) the phone started charging when I used the same data cable that I downloaded those photos at work.
In conclusion, my HTC Desire 500 can't charge unless I use that specific data cable (from one of my colleagues).
So my question is: why is this happening and how I can solve my problem?
Thanks in advance for all of your answers and sorry for my bad english.

Thanks for your answer, lgiK.
1) regarding the phone's USB - I don't think it's a problem with the phone's USB jack, because the phone actually charged with the data cable from the colleague that I've told you about. He also has a microUSB cable (like all the other Android devices).
2) regarding the cable plug - I don't think the problem is with the cable plug, because I've tried to charge the phone at home with 3 different AC chargers (all from other Android based devices), but it still won't charge.
I really don't think that it's a hardware problem, I suspect that it's more a software bug (or something similar). I think that mainly because that message appeared for the first time ("Your phone is in USB Host Mode"), although I'm having this phone for nearly 6 months.
Did anyone had the same problem like I do?

Last night my phone completely ran out of battery and has turned off. I put it to charge on a normal AC charger, and I noticed this morning that his battery was full.
So... yes, I suppose the phone charges when it's turned off.

Then try factory reset. Maybe there is something wrong in the software of the phone. Switching modes USB is a software issue. In the USB host mode, the phone is not charging.

I've already did that, but no change occured. I also tried going into fastboot (that also didn't helped). So i'm running out of options. The phone is still in guarantee, so I'm thinking I will just take the phone to them.

Maybe this help:
Guys,
I had the same "in USB host mode, can not charge" problem when the power is on, after 3 months of use of my new HTC One. It may be related to the charger but I am not 100% sure. It was very annoying and I had to turn the phone off before plugging in the power cable to charge. It happened when I was in Taiwan, so, I called the HTC help line there and they gave me a solution.
The guy on the other end asked me to go to Power setting and click off the "Fast Boot" and "Power Saver Mode" options first. ( I am not sure if these steps are necessary, but, anyway I did as he requested.) Then, power off the phone by pushing down "Power Off" for 2-3 seconds to allow restarting in Safe Mode. Once the phone restarts in Safe Mode, some of the Apps may not work but the phone can be charged normally. After restarting my phone in it's normal mode, the "USB Host Mode, Can't Charge phone" problem was gone. I can charge your phone normally and also click back on the "Power Saver Mode" and "Fast Boot" options in Power Setting, without problems. I hope this will also work for your phone.

Check the usb connector. And then just send in for repair.
I applied OTA nougat update yesterday. Since then my phone won't charge even when off. It also gets very hot when connected to the charger.
When connecting to a charger that has a led in it, the light will flicker one and off repeatedly.
[update April 21]
Samsung is asking for $400 to fix the phone.
For complete disclosure, the phone was purchased from Amazon US. My interaction is with Samsung Israel. They place the responsibility on the seller (an Amazon store) instead of owning it, even though the update malware came from Samsung Mobile.

I'd suggest you save as much as possible of your stuff that you want and then do a factory reset so that there's no old apps or other stuff that's causing it.. Make sure you have OEM unlock enabled to in Developer options so you don't end up with no FRP crap.

Do you happen to have a wireless charger? If not try another wire or even try using the usb ports on a laptop or desktop computer.

It's not a wire or port issue. Wireless charger doesn't work too. I tried different cables and chargers, nothing worked.
When connecting to a Macbook, I get a message "USB Accessories Disabled - Unplug the accessory using too much power to re-enable USB devices."
I'm guessing part of the update was a change to the circuit that guards the battery. Perhaps an aftermath of the exploding Note 7 fiasco.
I'll talk with Samsung next week and will update here.
When booting into recovery, I get the following screens:
Installing system update
No command
After these screens the device goes into the recovery menu.
Anyone know of a way to disable charging on USB? If I could get the USB working I could flash again.
Also, is it safe to flash to stock Marshmallow after the (failed) Nougat update?
Hi I have the same problem. Did you happen to find a solution?
I have using the phone yesterday and it was working fine but in the morning when i plugged in the charger nothing happened so I waited for sometime but no use.
Since then I have tried adb access laptop doesn't recognize the device and no device found comes in adb.
Also i tried wugfresh toolkit no device in that also.
I haven't dropped the device no water issue at all so if you can tell me if there is any way around so that I can turn on the device.
Doesn't boot in recovery bootloader in short I think its bricked only thing that is working is that when I connect in laptop connection sound is there apart from nothing is working.
Have you tried a forced reboot: keep power button down for 10 to 20 seconds.
You should also try another cable.
