Big, big problem with the volume + button on the MI5 - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

I have a big problem with my MI5 xiaomi, it fell out of pocket and broke the volume + button. I can not press, it stuck in the loaded position. Since then the phone after reboot has been jammed in recovery mode.
The only option is to repair the button. As I bought in Gearbest and in portugal there is no technical assistance service that I have to carry out. Or I get a very expensive brick.
I ask for your help for a video / tutorial on how to replace the button. All the videos of teardown I saw do not dismantle the side buttons and I have difficulty knowing if it is necessary or not to disassemble the LCD. Or if you get there from the side of the battery.
Any help was welcome.
Greetings,
Zarb.

[Q] Help! power button problem

Hello Guys,
My nexus one's power button doesn't work after using a body protector, when i wanted to push the power button i had to push it hard and after 1 month i took it off from my nexus, and i could use power button but i had noticed that it needs to be pushed hard, and now it is not working at all, unfortunately in my country there is no google service for nexus, but hTC does some services here,i think it's the flat thing of my power button because when i push the buttton it reacts(the Spring of button reacts)but i don't get any digital reactions.
Please help me and show me a Way!
If you get tactile feedback then the plastic button itself is intact. Therefore it sounds like a problem with either the logic board or the flex/power button connection. Unfortunately it's much cheaper and easier to replace the plastic power button than the logic board (Assuming HTC chooses to replace the whole logic board and not just that one connection). You can replace it yourself but it will Void your warranty and can be a little tricky.
Ive got the same problem, i also can't get mine fixed by HTC in my country. And ive taken it to a few places in the city who can't fix it.
Right now im relying on trackball wake to turn the screen on, and screen off and lock app to turn it off. and hope they work until i upgrade.
And if you do run out of battery and need to turn the phone back on, plug it into usb power, and pull the battery a couple of times until the yellow LED turns off, and the phone will boot.
Thanks guys i found someone who had a TOTTALY broken nexus one and he was selling it's spare parts,an i bought the whole logic board from him and it cost me 95$ but think it worth it ! Because in my country you can't buy your cellphone with your simcard contract and i bought my nexus one 750$ and if i decided to throw my nexus away i had to forget 750$!,also i found anotherway for fixing an i think it's cool for you guys to know, you can bridge the your power button's broken logic place and your main logic board with a wire and then you can use your power button like before!

I have the same issue with my SXL and here is what I do ..
1. Use CWM Recovery (Search the forums) - it will switch on your phone on connecting it to with a charger/USB cable. This comes in handy if I remove the battery and since the power button does not work at all, I cannot power on the phone in any other way. Once I plug in my switched off SXL, CWM Recovery starts up the phone and I get to reboot it from Recovery.
2. USe a custom ROM (I would recommend CodeFireX from Anders if you like 4.2.2 or RunnyKitKat from Onejay for 4.4.2) and under settings get the volume to wake feature turned on. Now you can wake the phone screen using the volume buttons.
3. Get an app from the Play Store - "Reboot Menu widget", which becomes a soft menu button to reboot or shutdown, or take a screen shot or to simply close down the screen...
I couldn't get my power button fixed as the device was out of warranty and I did not want to spend the exorbitant prices these guys were asking. So that's what anyone with a broken power button can do.. Hope this helps

Hi
Power button and volume buttons are identical with buttons used for HD2.
HD2 buttons are attachable, there is 5 of them and they are very cheap.
Get them and find someone with soldering gun with thin tip (for smd) who could solder them for you.

Cool thanks for telling that, now i just got to find someone with an HD2 LOL.
90% of people i know have iphones, so thats going to be hard :fingers-crossed:
Search for some combination of these words on ebay and replace the main board. It's usually the little micro-switch that's gone so replacing the plastic button doesn't do anything.

Button is located (soldered) on the board and is covered with protective tape.
When broken usually only plastic body stays on board. Transparent cover (with black dot) and micro disk comes off and for that reason button does not work. Whole plastic button needs to be unsoldered and replaced.
I attached picture of HD2 buttons which you can buy i.e on ebay.
I did it twice (first time with volume then with power button) and it costs nothing.
Replacing whole board is quite expensive and unnecessary - in my opinion.

[Q] Power button repair (known problem)

Hi,
My i9305 (S3 4G) has the well known power button issue.
Randomly, it will get stuck in an infinite reboot loop as the power is causing it to do so. The button does not look/feel stuck- so it must be something internal (but it's definitely not software related).
I am out of warranty.
1. Can I buy a replacement button/parts to fix this myself?
2. Can I remove the power button all together? And just use a mod to replace the lock & power key elsewhere?
Any help is much appreciated
Please somebody help me out- I can't use the phone because of this issue. Get me away from Apple.
Yeah you can by parts and replace them yourself but it might be difficult to remove the bezel to access the power button. If you find a solution (you have some videos on YouTube in disassembling i9300, pretty much the same as i9305), then this is absolutely possible, just... avoid mistakes.
Thanks for this but it requires a heat gun and soldiering...
How about a software approach- can I use Wanan Xposed to "ignore" the power button? The just power off another way?

It is a bit tight. Unable to press it properly for it to register a press. Sometimes when we press it too hard it registers multiple presses.
Go to asus or any repair shop to get your button out... if it comes without tearing down phone it will be cheap..((100 Indian rupees) if they have to teardown back panel then it will be costly (900-1000 indian rupees).. make sure to check every function after getting your device repaired.
Lil story
I faced Power button and air trigger issue 6 months after purchasing phone. I play pubg and my air trigger stopped firing in between no matter how hard i press L1 L2 (air trigger left - right). and one day power button got stuck. I was able to use that but it was stuck in phone.
Fortunately it was in warranty period and got both my problem resolved. Asus replaced my Screen IDK why ..but they told me it was the screen due to my air trigger was not working properly (Strange).. and the replaced my power button assembly too..
Got mine repaired for 550 INR
