use flash drive for music. - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hey guys I have a USB flash drive that I use to store my backups and zip files for my phone, can I make a storage folder and store music on there to play when I'm on the airplane or bus etc? Should that be a problem?

You can, although some music apps either scans the whole USB drive or lets you select where your music are stored in under the settings menu in the app.
But just for neatness, I put all of my music in a folder named "Music" on the USB drive.

How to transfer a huge file to the 4x HD ?

Hi all, i'm trying since a little time to transfer a MKV from my pc to my 4X HD external sd card but each time i try, at the end of the transfer, there is a message poping up that tells me the file transfer failed.
The file is exactly 4.37go and i don't understand why it doesn't work, knowing that all my other xvid files are well transfered (from 700mo to 2go).
Any idea, buddies ?
1. Via recovery
2. Put it in few parts in .rar and extract it in 4X in Unrar app

Damn, it ain't possible to just copy and past it inside the phone ?
So weird.
It's impossible, because all Android phones and tablets have FAT32 file system, what means no more than 4GB file.

Maybe you can tell me more? I'm facing problems - I have Samsung Galaxy Tab, but I can't watch 720p movies because of FAT32 file system. So I have to cut movie and do another silly stuff.

Music & Gallery App Problems

So here's my problem,I've been using democracy 2.1 and tried to flash other custom roms like idroid, aokp ics, and cm10..now everytime I flash these roms and test it the music app dont work, whenever i touch the play button It will say the playlist is empty,I check the library to find my songs and they're not there, same thing happens to the gallery,no pics nor videos, but I can perfectly see pics and play videos and music through the file manager,at first I thought that the apps are not working properly so I installed a bunch of other gallery and music apks but still the same,I dont know what just happened,so please help..thanks in advance
open dev tool go to media provider and tap on scan sdcard
if don't work check for .nomedia file in /sdcard, music folder, video folder and picture folder

And again the same question about app2sdcard.....
The only way actually is: root your phone, use an app like FolderMount and be happy

Yes, FolderMount works for me. Did you root your Z1? Did you make folderpairs and activate them?
Folder mount is an amazing app.
1. Download and install a big app (lets say modern combat 4)
2. Open folder mount and create a new entry by selecting the plus symbol
3. Name the entry as Modern Combat 4
4. Go down to the next line and click it.
5. Find the apps data file (in this case is /storage/emulated/0/Android/obb/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftM4HM
6. Open that folder and click on the tick.
7. When you get back to folder mount it will ask you if you want to automatically choose a destination folder, just click yes and let folder mount do the work for you.
8. Select Exclude from media scan.
9. Allow it to mount the folder in your SD card, probably takes a few mins.
10. Pin it by turning the pin from white to green, takes a few seconds.
Your done.
PS: No idea if it wil be implemented in the future, I'm sure Samsung did something similar but then they were missing a good few gig from their internal memory so maybe they had reasonable cause to.
My advice is to just use folder mount, I've got about 10 large games mounted and my internal memory is still on 8GB

This is the way. But for some apps like Fifa14 you must move the data and the app. Otherwise the app will again download the data....

Haven't got fifa 14 m8, the control system is shocking, especially seeing as the moga controller is readily available, I have no idea why they didn't implement it into the game.
I've got RR3 which is an EA Game, it's in android/data/com.ea.games.r3_row and thats the only folder that needs to be mounted.

didn't do that for me, did you make sure to mount it within the app? You have to make sure that the pin is green.

twrp backup question

Is it possible to create a backup, upload it to cloud storage, and in the event the phone crashes, sideload the backup files back to the phone so I don't have to use up 7gb of storage on my phone? Thanks?

If you know how to use ADB, then you can download your backup from the cloud to your PC and ADB push it to your phone. Why not just store it on PC?

You don't even need adb. TWRP has supported MTP for quite some time now.

Yeah it's brilliant.
It also supports USB OTG so if you have an OTG cable and a flash drive you can put your backup on the flash drive and bring it with you.
OK thanks for all the help
