I think I just figured out how to fix it!!!!!!! I was tinkering around and got my red light brick to turn on!!!! I'm not sure exactly what fixed it so here's everything I did-
1. Removed the storage & sim cards.
2. Took off the backplate.
3. Removed the battery.
4. Bent these 2 pins up a little bit:
5. Put the battery in at an angle, so that the power leads were connected, but the metal shielding plate on the back of the battery was not touching:
6. Hit the power button (with the battery still "halfway" installed) Bam, green light of life.
Somebody please confirm this. Meanwhile I'll be copywriting this process so anyone who performs it owes me 10 bucks
So my replacement Tilt isn't working either, so they're overnighting me a third one. In the meantime, I haven't sent back my original (RLoDed) Tilt, so I thought I'd play around with some of your theories.

I didn't know what to try besides installing the battery and SIM card and trying to push down the power, camera, and stylus buttons (I knew I was doing it correctly, because I had to use this to return my second Tilt to factory specs). No response whatsoever! This thing is deader than a doornail. Except for the red LED, of course... that works REALLY well whenever it's plugged in.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but the only thing I can confirm is that this did NOT work on my RLoDed Tilt. Tried it several times in various ways. I think you just seriously lucked out!
As such, I'd also have to vote against stickying this... for now.
Best of luck, all... if not actually in fixing your RLoDed Tilts, then definitely in avoiding the $500 service fee if AT&T discovers we voided our warranties.
alright i will confirm this too....my phone was truely RLOD..... i did the same thing that these guys did just jammin the battery in and out and it "jump started the phone"

"bounce" battery on and off the contacts for the battery a good 100 times or so
green light apeared after the red light started to flicker a little bit..... tis as if you were giving the phone CPR or something
im not going to call this a fix all i know is that the phone was RLOD and now it is working....battery is at 54% right now and i will post back in a bit to see if it has risen at all....
no smell arising from device
running origional rom but have had other roms on there (alex's)
hard SPL still installed on device
SPB phone suite is the last software that was installed on the device
reg tweaks installed as well, the usual ones no sms, hsdpa enabled blah blah blah
that is about all i can provide....the unit was on the computer overnight charging....when i woke up it was RLOD....and i was sad....i did have the ATT store replace the battery for me as well dunno if that had anything to do with the issue...
in the time that it has taken me to write this the battery is now at 55% so it is charging.....on wall charger with MOTO razr charger
ok lets take a little closer look at what happened within the past little bit....
after gettin the device all up and running it was behaving very oddly.... it would go through multiple attempts to connect to the data network for various reasons....after showing that it was at 55% on the charger it went back down to 54%... i pulled it off the charger and took it into the other room to do something......within 10 min it was down to 46%....now having a data connection my blackberry connect should have a valid network connection....but it did not... not sure why...
the best that i can conclude is that it was trying to connect to so many things all at the same time that it exhausted its self that fast....
so the question is how many people out there that have RLOD are running the BB connect software on there devices and have made REG edits to the data connection time outs and the HSDPA mod availability
editing those settings together may confuse the device and make it think that it has to connect to too many things at one time....
just another thought process that i thought that i would throw out there...
here are some things on the my device that would use the DATA connection and automatically initiate the connection on the device rather than you opening a program forcing it to connect such as Internet explorer
GPS update
HTC home weather tab
SPB weather tab
Blackberry connect
SPB insight....RSS Reader
text messages going in and out....my phone sees quite a few of those

There have been a few other people who have now fixed their RLOD's. Confirmed it was done by messing about with the battery. If you have revived yours, please post your method in here so we can compare them and eventually pinpoint the fix. Thanks.
i had the same prob..took out the batterly wiped the four contact points on the phone (might of pushed them down or up) and put battery back in and worked..
I believe sWuRv was onto something. My Tilt had the RLOD today. I tried everything, even what he suggested above to no avail. So I called warranty and got my replacement on it's way, express shipping waved and all. So I decided to everything I could think of to try and get the thing back on so I might be able to back up my data again.
I started fooling with the battery, like sWuRv suggested but I moved it all around at 45 degrees or so pushing the power on button. I noticed while it was plugged to the USB with red light on that every now and then the red light would flash when I moved the battery so the contacts moved (while holding the battery at that 45 degrees). I started getting the light to go yellow but it would not stay. So I unplugged from the USB and kept trying it while pushing the power button. It eventually started and I was able to back up to my SD card. One thing I can tell you is that this process caused the phone to get hot and smell like electronics burning a little. There is definitely a power problem inside.
I have no idea how or why this worked but it did. I think I will still take the replacement even though I have to figure out how to swap my fancy invisible armor clear protector skin.
I'll try and update on whether this phone dies again or what until I get the new one.

Reseating the battery and/or sim/storage cards is hardly a revolutionary procedure. Its Cellphone 101.
you guys are LIFE SAVERS. I have been on this forum for about a month now and I finally found a reason to post. I haven't posted because I always find my answers. I just wanted to thank everyone, as I have been on the phone with Amazon.com (where i got my tilt), went into an AT&T store and was on the phone with HTC tech support ALL day trying to resolve my red light issue. Unbelievable that all I needed to do was give it some "battery CPR":

These stories remind me off all the bad batteries/no powerup of my Motorola Q and those of others. My mother is on her 4th Q and I know its the battery, but the store just swaps out the whole phone. I've seen batteries last as little at 2 weeks, especially if let run down to empty at any point.
My questions are, is this just a bad battery problem? Does anyone with RLoD have a spare battery to try? If these batteries fail in the shorted condition, will they over draw power from the phone and mess up the charging circuit?

I certainly don't believe it's a bad battery problem. I had 2 spare batteries, fully charged with separate docking charger - none of the 3 batteries made any difference once I got the RLOD.

I finished a call yesterday and then dropped my phone on to the pavement cos I was a bit drunk... Anyway this caused my phone to go from working fine (all be it with pants battery life) to just flashing the red light. Fixed it today. I tried the methods prescribed in this thread without success although I did not persevere for very long. I then put a spare battery in to the phonea and bingo the orange light comes on, phone boots up and it's now happilly charging. Note that I charged the old battery for several hours before trying the fix. Pity nobody seems to know what the problem actually is. I wish HTC would let us know....

I had a similar problem with my old iPAQ hw6515, and a Motorola V3. The contacts on the battery don't spring forward as well on an older phone as they do when it was new. I shimmed the battery. I did this by taking a business card and holding it against the opposite side of the battery from the contacts I traced the battery's profile and cut it out. I scotch taped my new shim to that side of the battery, then re-inserted it. This forces the battery up against the contacts better and in many times resolves inoperable phones, failure to charge, and spontaneous rebooting issues.

My replacement tilt (first one had a bad USB connector) died Sunday.
Had it on the charger, looked down, red LED. Back of phone was pretty
warm. Pulled the battery, SIM, memory card, slammed the battery onto the
battery contacts rapidly 5-6 times, put the SIM, memory, battery back into
it, and it charged up. Did a hard reset. Battery was 100% charged, I turned
it completely OFF when I went to bed. Got up, battery was 0% drained!
Red LED again. Did the rapid thingy with the battery again, orange charge
light came on.
Called at&t warranty replacement. When I told her I had a red LED, she didn't
even ask me to do anything else. She just asked for the IMIE number and shipped me another one.
Maybe the 3rd one will be the charm LOL.......
I'm beginning to think that HTC doesn't stand for "high tech computes" but
"high tech CRAP"....
Maybe you guys got the margin of error productions? I know its really unlikely that you could get them again after a replacement but it is possible, and it maybe your computer. What do you think could be making this things go crazy? Overly protective anti-virus, I know, I know but it could do things secretly and screw around like mine does and wont let me into sites I have been on before on the same app no changes . . . Well I hope you luck.

so as some of you have stated it must be the battery, so what I did is put it between my hands for about 1 minute and put it in and it worked again!
really weird... must be the heat?

Long version:
I left my galaxy note on the counter in my kitchen which is apparently not quite level. Overnight water pooled under it(never submerged, even partially). I did not notice until my alarm went off the following morning. As of this time it was still functioning properly. I moved it, wiped off the water. Took the protective case off and wiped the water off it was well, hooked it up to the charger and went back to sleep. 15 minutes later the vibration function went nuts while it popped up complaints about low battery. I say the vibration went nuts, because it wasn't the sustained vibration like you normally get it. It would cycle on and off about every half a second. I panicked, turned off the device and removed the battery where I noticed that the battery was wet, and under the battery as well.
So I wipe it off, put in a bag of rice and go back to sleep. Approximately 15(yes, way too soon) hours later I pull it out, put the battery in and turn it on. Works fine. few hours later I hook it up the charger and it immediately complains about the battery temperature.
Short version:
Phone at in a pool of water for 5+ hours, never fully submerged. Basically if you poured water on a level surface and sat your phone in it, thats what happened.. Anyways Water worked its way inside the phone(based on disasemble that occured later), and started vibrating randomly. took out batteyr and left in rice for 15 hours. Put it back together attempted to charge, phone complains battery is too hot immedately.
Observations:
I take out the battery and disasemble the device down to the point where the circuit board is separate from the display.
The far right ( +) connector that touches the battery appears to be slightly corrodeded. I rub it with a cotton swab to clean it. From watermarks it doesn't look like anything else got wet and by now its completely dry. I don't see any 'red' spots or stickers, but I'm unfamiliar with the water damage indicators, and the information i found from searches was innacurate(no white dot on top of battery, no red marks anywhere on it)

I put it back together try again, same deal. The phone doesn't seem to have a way to view the battery temperature reading(*#0*#), so I downloaded an app called 'Doms diagnostic tool' which indicates that the battery temperature is pegged at 80 degrees C and it does not fluctuate. I don't know if this app is actually reading anything though.
Can someone who has a working phone try this out? App is free.
Is it worth putting it back in rice even though its dry even on thorough dissemble?
Any idea how to get legit data from the sensor to verify if its shorted out etc?
Would a replacement battery with out the sensor resolve this issue?
Anyone have pictures of where water damage indicators are?
I searched thoroughly and found no answers besides taking it to a service center. Since I'm in America, and this is an international phone, I don't believe the manufacturer will honor the warranty even if the phone shows negative for water damage. My service is ATT, but I bought the phone at expansys( i think).
best at this point is to check your insurance, if its covered. In some countries I read this is covered as it was accidental.
I would recommend goong to samsung and let them check it, with the true story ofc. Now if they find whats wrong, they might be lenient, or not. Anyhow then you know whats broke, and you can decide to fix it for yourself or have it fixed. At this point it sounds like corrosion on one of the boards, or shorts somewhere.

So my Nexus 6 fell in the water, I was under impression it is water proof, but when the screen started flickering I knew it's not so water resistance/proof, so I decided to turn it off and put in rice, it was so desperation to check if it's working or not, but I still left it in rice for 2 days. After 2 days, when I tried to turn it on, it didn't turn on, so I plug it to power and left for couple of hours for charging, when I came back and tuned it on, it did turn on, but the battery was still showing as 1%. Generally with Motorola turbo charger it should be 100% by now.
So I figured it's not charging and need troubleshooting/repair. I checked Motorola warranty was void with water damage, so decided to do repair myself. First off I tried charging from Qi charger, hoping there should be short circuit in regular charging, but that didn't work either. So I thought maybe battery is gone, so I ordered a new batter and replaced it successfully, but the new battery is also not charging. When I opened the phone I noticed some water stains on the unit next to USB connector, that would be charging unit.
Does anyone know, if replacing the charging unit is possible, what's the part number. Is there anything else I can do? The phone work perfectly while connected to power, no issues in the screen or anywhere else, I have been using the phone connected to power for few days now.
If someone can confirm this phone can't be repaired, I would love to buy new Nexus or OnePlus 3 . Any help or ideas are appreciated.

Not sure why you would think it was water proof. You most likely fried the board connections to the charging port. YOu could try a new board but your better off just buying a new device.

My screen cracked so I ordered a new on ebay. However after I have put the phone back in its shell the top part gets pretty hot. I opened it and started it without the aluminum shell to test and there were no heat? Anyone know what it might be?

That isn't likely to be the screen. My phone gets warm too. About 4 days ago out of nowhere I noticed the upper part of the screen feeling warm, it turns out my phone had stopped sleeping properly and Google services had resumed chomping on my battery when the screen was off.
Tho when i don't keep it in the aluminium case it's not warm at all, turned on and I have logged on my simcard/wifi. I have left it on outside of the case for 1 hour and it don't get warm at all. However in the case it gets super hot as soon as it boots and then after 15-25m it turns off probably because it's too hot
Happened the same last night with me.
Put a download and slept, and in the morning it was all drained of battery and it showed that it shut down after minutes after I slept with 90%battery.
It was weird. Had to keep pressing power button for 40 sec approx for the phone to turn on.
It's working fine now though
did anyone of you even read my post? I said after a screenreplacement. It didn't just happened randomly. however i fixed it. I removed the camera and the earspeaker and reinstalled them used some alcohol on the contact points on the case and the earspeaker and it seemed to fix it if anyone has this problem later down the road
Hi jullleee, I have the same problem as u after I replaced the screen. The phone getting too hot on the top (one plus 3). On charge it becomes more hot and faster on very high temperature than without charging. Also the battery dont charge . Why did u reconnect the ear speaker and the camera ? Thank you in advance

For anyone coming across this thread I just had the same problem when replacing my Oneplus 3 screen. It seemed to work, and I plugged it in, but it said "battery too low charge for a while", then I got the 0% and seemed to charge and then restart, and then be back at 0% and be stuck in this boot / charging loop. My battery had died hard when my screen died so I thought maybe it just needed to charge for a while, but the top half of the phone got very hot.
So I took it apart again and it turns out the issue for me was with the top ribbon cables that cross the battery. Where they connect to the main board was very tight and it was difficult to get both of them in place properly. Usually they kind of overlapped and one stuck up slightly. It was fixing their placement before bolting down their cover that fixed this issue for me.
Edit: Never mind. Still searching for my issue. Taking the back case off will let it work normally but whenever i snap it on it goes back into this charging loop, I still suspect it's an issue with these two cables and the case is putting pressure in the wrong spot or something but I'm not really sure yet.

My Note 8 is detecting false positives for the moisture sensor. The past two weeks I was forced to using wireless charging since there is a pop up saying there is moisture in my charger port. Whenever I plug in the charger it won't charge. I have reset the phone, blow dried the port, basically done everything I could but its still "detecting moisture" in the charger.
I reach out to Samsung US today to try to send my phone in for repairs and they said from my IMEI number, that my phone was made in Korea and they can't do anything to help. I bought this phone from an EBay store (not a private seller) and send them a message but I doubt they will help. Probably continue to run my head in circles by telling me to reach out to Samsung again.
The phone is only a few months old and I can't have it repaired by Samsung US, (Samsung Korea's number is not in english so I can't understand anything), the seller doesn't have any obligation to help, and my phone can't be charged without a wireless charger.
I was wondering if there was anything I can do here that would deactivate the moisture sensor or reprogram it to stay always off. I love this phone, but hate samsung for once again making another catastrophic issue without properly testing it first.

There is no way you can turn that off.. It's actually not even an option to do that because it's built right into the software.. The only thing I could suggest is to buy another charging port and use a heating gun to heat the back edges of the phone all around and then slowly pry it off.. There's tons of videos on how to do this on YouTube and the charging port is cheap.
Get used to wireless charging. Try compressed air instead of just a blow dryer. Maybe something in there? Good luck

I think I'm going to get used to an iPhone again. No problems on their flag ship devices. The note 7 blew up in your face, now the note 8 is so ANAL it won't let you charge your phone if it thinks theirs moisture in it. The warning has been on for two weeks straight after I blow dried it for an hour. Such a stupid feature that was unnecessary to begin with. If I drop my phone in water, what does it matter if the charging port may have water in it when after all that it probably won't work anyways!
Furthermore, Samsung support is very bad. I bought the phone from a reputable eBay seller because it was the only place I found an unlocked model. The official resellers only sell the bloatware infected carriers models, which I don't like. I like my smartphone experience to be closer to iPhone, the original smartphone, that doesn't have bloatware that I have to uninstall the first thing I do after I power it on.
Samsung won't cover the repair for their own problem because I bought it brand new on eBay from a cell phone store, and not from their resellers that put bloatware that I don't want.
Luckily, I played it smart and got the Square trade plan so we will see how this works out.

Mine doesn't have that problem at all. I've recorded quite a few videos under water too. That's why I say to blow it with compressed air (not too high psi) as there may be something in there.

my phones does that when i charge it in my car and turn the key off. if i unplug it and turn the key on and plug it back in it works fine. I would first try a different charger.
So out of the blue while my Note 8 is sitting on my desk I get the Moisture Sensor Error?
I plugged it in as I'm 100% sure it's dry and restarted it. Seems to be charging but as soon as I remove the cable it comes back. Wireless works fine but WTF?

So I did a little searching and found what I hope to be a resolution to this instance but still no real "cause" as my phone has never seen extreme cold or moisture.
I plugged in my phone to charge it and restarted it. It gave no message so I let it hit 100% and left it for an hour after still plugged in. Removed the cord and now no message.
Still not sure what caused it.
This happened to me a few weeks ago. I had never seen that message before, but after I unplugged from my phone, there was something sticky/wet that had gotten on the end of the charging cable. I wiped it off but kept getting the message - had to resort to the wireless charging for a day..........the port finally dried out and no issues since.
Everytime that this happens , and I know that it's completly dry, just go to recovery mode and Wipe Cache and it works.
I don't know exactly how the sensor works, but has I have notice multiple times, when the phone drys 100% it starts some type of timer for security and only when that timer ends, the errors disappears and let my phone charge without any problem
Maybe the timer info resets when I wipe the cache? I don't know. But this only works when is really dry. (of course I tried with moisture, but the sensor detect anyway, so if theres some problem with the hardware {sensor}, this cache wipe will not resolve anything, only if it was some software bug).

My note 9 has the same moisture error. I didnt have a wireless charger the first time and did what you said cleared the cashe and reset the entire phone. I lost everything because it had only a little battery left. But eventually after resetting/restoring it I was able to start fresh until now. The moisture sensor is back on only about a month after I reset it. This is a serious flaw with more than one model of Samsung and they better address it asap because this is BS! I won't always be able to charge it wirelessly and why bother sending so much money on a phone that looses all your information?
