[Discussion] Stock OOS Camera Discussion- Feature Request - OnePlus 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello Community! Greetings from Bangladesh.
There has been lots of buzz regarding Oneplus 3 Camera. For a great device like One Plus 3, Camera performance is one of the thing that many users dont like. I meant to say, since the device uses a decent sensor, a well developed camera app could have boosted the camera performance more. To me the camera performance is not that bad, but still it could have been much better. We saw Dev like SultanXDA can do magic and can really push a device's full potential to the maximum.
I was hoping if someone could have drawn the attention of one plus developers to make the camera app a bit more rich. I mean OOS camera doesnt really have that many options. We have manual mode, but its not complete, there is some limitation. I m not talking about some fancy filters here. If we look at Camera option of Sultan's CM 13, it has way more customization option than Stock OOS. Since Oneplus has not yet been friendly regarding camera Blob's and stuffs it has become pretty tough for the developers to implement something for the custom roms. Its been long, but except for Sultan's CM 13 camera performance in other custom roms are yet pretty much disappointing. We have Stock OOS camera port for custom rom, but it has some limitations.
So what i m asking here is One Plus Dev team should focus on their camera app. For example- Nubia Devices a great camera app which can make use of the sensor pretty well. Similarly Lenovo SnapIt camera has lots of customization too.
I m welcoming discussion from user community here regarding this matter. Please comment about the features that you want to have in Stock OOS camera app. Thus we can let OOS dev team know about our demand.
Thanks.

No development?

I was thinking about buying P10 but I see there is nothing in dev thread. However Huawei did release the kernel and sources
Devs dont go into Huawei? I really like the phone but I am afraid I get sick of EMUI as I did with MIUI
On the other hand. Is camera at night so bad as they say?
Also what can you tell me about video recording (front and rear) at low light? Low FPS?
I too would like to see this handset get some development love, just wish my coding skills were a little better and I could contribute ?
The Kirin blobs are pretty opaque and kernel source not helpful. The platform is hard to develop for, plus Qualcomm's platforms make it really easy (plus honourable mention for MediaTek). Huawei also doesn't release source for EMUI, which is very unhelpful for disentangling it.
I've done, on the stock camera, images of stars down to magnitude 7, Milky Way, some big nebulae. It's a good camera. It lacks Pixel and Nexus' computational photography, but anything not a Pixel or Nexus lacks that.

Understand...
So I should not be expecting any development in this device ever
That's a shame, I'm afraid I won't get used to emui because of the intrusiveness and incompatibly

I was a Nexus and CM/Lineage user for about 5 years.
Now I switched to P10 and I'm running stock rom.
I was very surprised that everything works smooth, no crashes, no delays, no hiccups.
I thought that a phone without CM/Lineage will be the same as my old bad Galaxy S2 which was working fine only under CM (at that times).
To be honest P10 stock rom has so many features that I don't need LineageOS anymore.
I just applied my custom theme so that all icons looks like stock AOSP and that's it

Android 8.0 for Sony Xperia Z1

Hi did anyone saw anything about the Android 8.0 on Sony Xperia Z1?
there isn't even a fully working (bug free) android 7 version for the Z1 ..

oh, really? And what are the bugs that prevent you from using eg my Lineage build as daily driver?
We're waiting until some fixes get merged and generally all the common bugs get resolved. I don't really see a reason why should we release half working rom that would get installed by people who don't understand a thing and spam the thread with useless complains.
Just take my word that z1 will get oreo, when it gets released I don't know.
Lineage works great on my device, didn't notice any issues

The camera work as it should. But for recognition its not. Like face detection, scene detection. So better on manual. But i want to suggest something to @SuperLamic , can you port the camera saturation and sharpness option. On old RR, XOSP, LOS, DU nougat rom the camera is lag and quite unstable, but those option like saturation and sharpness are working and with steady hand the pics looks awesome.

Well, we're still missing camera wrapper that was activating some sony proprietary features and maybe more (haven't really thoroughly looked on it). I guess that can help? If not, then it won't be available.
Btw older roms are using blobs released within Sony Opensource Developer Project (sodp) and it's completely different implementation (that is not completely opensource). So we can't use it (or any part of it). My rom isn't an improvement for what we had, it's completely different.

To add to what SuperLamic said, the SODP blobs had support for the Camera2 API, since they were custom made. We use stock blobs on the newer ROMs that use the 3.4 kernel. Since we never had support for Camera2 API on stock (because we were dropped at 5.1.1), we probably never will have those features on custom ROMs.

Mi 5 camera apps discussion

So now that we have quite a few camera app ports for the mi5, which one do you think is the best all around, so that includes stability, features and of course, picture quality (not counting MIUI camera here, this one is obviously the best).
Is there a camera app for a stock android lover that can deliver not-terrible photos?
Hope to hear your opinions

Difference in picture quality

The developers and actual 3t users,
I want to know,
is there any difference in the camera picture quality from the ported google camera apk installed on oxygen OS as compared to the same google camera app installed on the custom ROM like OMNI, Lineage or any other.
Actually, I want to know does the ROM decide the quality produced by apk camera application or the ported google camera apk produces the quality as per hardware (which is SD 821 in 3t)
If there was no difference in post processing between the Ported Version and the Play Store version, why would developers bother doing ports at all? Of course there's a difference, the post processing of HDR+ highly increases picture quality.
The ROM has an important role in camera, as the Camera HAL used by the ROM will only show the quality. Most ROMs use SultanXDA's HAL as it is much better than OOS HAL. This is a debatable matter. Some rarely updated ROMs use their own HAL's which may be better or worse. The only way to test it is via trail and error.
Please try to do research on this before you post new questions here, as you can test camera quality on your own, or read others experience here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...oogle-camera-hdr-60fps-video-t3658552/page235)

Question Status of Custom ROMS for Note 10 Pro? - Upgrade Advise Needed

I'm looking to upgrade to the Note 10 Pro from my Note 8 Pro.
One of the main reasons why i don't like running a custom ROM in my Begonia (Note 8 Pro) is the fact that i loose a bunch of Camera features and even the ability to use the macro lens.
The devs in the Begonia thread and us Beta testers have risked our devices and had spent an unreasonable amount of time on getting custom ROM's running and to make much of the features functional in that device. But i know since this one has a Snapdragon processor, much of the resources needed to port features from other devices to this is already there.
I know the advantages of running a custom ROM. But i would like it if someone explains to me what device-specific OEM features that you are not able to use once you flash a custom ROM in the Note 10 Pro?
Appreciate the feedback!
1) cRDroid (has Mi CAM too)
2) ArrowOS
3) DroidOnTime
what device-specific OEM features that you are not able to use once you flash a custom ROM in the Note 10 Pro?
Not sure, don't use too many frills that it has. For 1, I think the IR blaster might not work. Not sure though.

Don't take adventure on your ass.
Indonesia ROM and you will be happy.
In terms of speed, smoothness and lack of problems, nothing beats this firmware.
And the camera is pretty good. Well, if it is infused correctly.
Good luck.
This is my first MIUI based phone and I bought it as a secondary device to only to flash a custom ROM.
I tried the latest Pixel Experience Plus (Aug 22 initial OSS build) and it I couldn't be happier (Well, maybe a bit if I could get a 108MP mode in GCam). The performance and battery life are fantastic. Not crash or moments of lag, stutters. So snappy, way better than MIUI.
GCam is working for Regular 12MP, wide angle, tele macro and portrait. The night shots are better than on stock. In case you need a 108MP mode, there is ANX camera. The quality might not match the stock 108MP, but it's a usable option. The selfies are also bright unlike GCam, though GCam has way more detail in the selfies than ANX or even stock.
I'm going to test Crdoid or dotOS soon to see what a degoogled experience is like, but I reckon it is going to be similar to PE+. PE+ has set a benchmark for me.
Also, a couple of bugs I've noticed on PE+ which might or might not stay with other ROMs is:
1. Auto brightness is a bit off and goes lower or higher than it should at times.
2. The front cam was crashing when I turned on face unlock. But because I prefer the fingerprint scanner, turned it off and no issues since then.
3. Features like AOD and Pocket mode have been known to be battery hogs, but I don't use them anyway.

Give you some information. Xiaomi released A11 kernel for begonia a few days and camera problems (maybe) can be fixed, wait for next custom rom A11 based before get new rmn10p.
And custom use ANX and Gcam, some problems maybe same with other device not only rmn8p.

Right now I'm testing few different Camera apps, ANXCamera + many differenet GCam MODS.
I'm looking for the best GCam MOD ... I think that I have found it!
The ANX Camera quality is the same as the stock MIUI camera ... have made a lot of test of both and have to say that ANX isn't bad at all!
You can see all my test and findings in this GCam Mods for Redmi Note 10 Pro tread here.

Thank you, i will try
I decided to buy the phone and see after reading all your thoughts. I specially want to see if the high refresh rate works well with an AOSP ROM too because that's one of the main parts of the phone that i want to take advantage of. And I would be happy as @dnana9 mentioned if there's options for me to take advantage of all the lenses. Lets see how it goes.
You won't regret it. I have been hopping from stock to Pixel Experience to Xiaomi.EU to AOSP Extended, and every ROM has minor quirks, but overall better than stock MIUI. And beteeen the 5-10 options you have, you should find the sweet spot.

Haven't tested other AOSP ROMs than the AOSP Extended but have tested few MIUI based one and have to say that AOSP Extended is super truper fast!
I'm using the same ROM on my other phone Redmi Note 7 and the ROM there is also so fast and smooth as a pretty new car from Tesla ...
