The developers and actual 3t users,
I want to know,
is there any difference in the camera picture quality from the ported google camera apk installed on oxygen OS as compared to the same google camera app installed on the custom ROM like OMNI, Lineage or any other.
Actually, I want to know does the ROM decide the quality produced by apk camera application or the ported google camera apk produces the quality as per hardware (which is SD 821 in 3t)
If there was no difference in post processing between the Ported Version and the Play Store version, why would developers bother doing ports at all? Of course there's a difference, the post processing of HDR+ highly increases picture quality.
The ROM has an important role in camera, as the Camera HAL used by the ROM will only show the quality. Most ROMs use SultanXDA's HAL as it is much better than OOS HAL. This is a debatable matter. Some rarely updated ROMs use their own HAL's which may be better or worse. The only way to test it is via trail and error.
Please try to do research on this before you post new questions here, as you can test camera quality on your own, or read others experience here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...oogle-camera-hdr-60fps-video-t3658552/page235)

I have a pretty simple question . How does camera performance differ from the normal touchwiz ROM apposed to an aosp ROM. I know there is some processing that is done on the os side when pictures are taken.
So basically is the camera worse on a aosp ROM compared to a touchwiz ROM

As far quality, no but certain features like filters, camera modes, etc that's tied into samsung stock camera aren't present in AOSP.

I've tested the camera on both FireKat (TouchWiz) and CM12 Remix ROMs and I can say I was pleased with both, BUT. CM12 does not really support other features, like in-camera filters and photo mods (animated picture, sound photo etc). What I also noticed, now, please correct me if I'm wrong, but CM12 does not support other camera apps other than Google Camera and the AOSP stock Camera (which are almost the same thing). Could have been a troubly version of the rom, but I could not get the FV-5 to work, nor the camera inside Facebook Messenger (for sending photos really quick).
Otherwise, the photos look pretty much the same if made with the default filter, but you can always use apps to edit them, I got like 6 of them. I can recommend Google Snapseed, it's free and powerful. Njoy!
Oh, yeah, you also lose the voice control for the camera (the "Shoot!" or "Cheese!" voice triggering). But, damn, man, CM12 is snappy as hell..
On one TW ROM the camera wasn't as good as stock. Not sure what the deal was. I'm using the app called better camera on the CMRemix ROM. It has the features like the stock camera. As far as quality it seems just as good.
Hello Community! Greetings from Bangladesh.
There has been lots of buzz regarding Oneplus 3 Camera. For a great device like One Plus 3, Camera performance is one of the thing that many users dont like. I meant to say, since the device uses a decent sensor, a well developed camera app could have boosted the camera performance more. To me the camera performance is not that bad, but still it could have been much better. We saw Dev like SultanXDA can do magic and can really push a device's full potential to the maximum.
I was hoping if someone could have drawn the attention of one plus developers to make the camera app a bit more rich. I mean OOS camera doesnt really have that many options. We have manual mode, but its not complete, there is some limitation. I m not talking about some fancy filters here. If we look at Camera option of Sultan's CM 13, it has way more customization option than Stock OOS. Since Oneplus has not yet been friendly regarding camera Blob's and stuffs it has become pretty tough for the developers to implement something for the custom roms. Its been long, but except for Sultan's CM 13 camera performance in other custom roms are yet pretty much disappointing. We have Stock OOS camera port for custom rom, but it has some limitations.
So what i m asking here is One Plus Dev team should focus on their camera app. For example- Nubia Devices a great camera app which can make use of the sensor pretty well. Similarly Lenovo SnapIt camera has lots of customization too.
I m welcoming discussion from user community here regarding this matter. Please comment about the features that you want to have in Stock OOS camera app. Thus we can let OOS dev team know about our demand.
Thanks.
So now that we have quite a few camera app ports for the mi5, which one do you think is the best all around, so that includes stability, features and of course, picture quality (not counting MIUI camera here, this one is obviously the best).
Is there a camera app for a stock android lover that can deliver not-terrible photos?
Hope to hear your opinions
Hi
With the latest Nokia Camera Pro or a suitable GCam installed, is it fair to say that the Nokia 8's camera performance is now reasonably acceptable, say, comparable to a good 2017 mid-range phone, and with usable OIS?
Or do you think it is still sub-par?
In addition to picture quality, practical issues like focusing speed and accuracy are also important considerations.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
I have a GCam mod installed, Arnova's version and in my opinion the picture quality is very good, at least in good light conditions. In difficult light conditions the camera still has its limits. The Nokia Pro Camera app has not changed much here in my opinions though there is potential for future improvement. However, we have to see what Nokia can deliver. That being said, the picture quality in my opinion with a suitable GCam mod is more than sufficient and I have taken some very nice pictures with the phone already. I definitely do not think it is any worse than a 2017 mid ranger. I have not experienced issues with auto focus on the GCam mods.
I use the Nokia app almost exclusively now, it still has some silly problems but the image output is satisfactory for a phone snapper.
I used to use a mix of GCam and the nokia pro app. In good light the photos are really good.
The main issue i had was the phone never focused when i used to point it downwards (say for example taking a photo of my dog). i had to hold it facing up and wait for it to focus and then take the photo.
Hi
Has the Nokia 8's camera performance improved even further with the latest GCam CStark version, which seems to be the preferred mod on XDA? Would any user care to share their recent experience?
Thanks!
Hopeless in low light, ok in day light.
GCam helps a lot.
I use the latest Arnova version and it works very well, also in lowlight.
Wirh gcam very best , nice pics , nokia software is ****
Is there any other apks I can download to help the camera? Coming over from a Pixel XL and the difference is significant in a bad way and was curious to help that.
Well yes. The pixel 2 camera app is reportedly working on the v40. It doesnt support the telelens yet though. But it removes the oversharpening. Adds image stacking to remove grainyness. Better hdr which increases dynamic range and better colors.
Its nonroot and doesnt replace the main camera. First enable allow packages from non official sources.
Also id love to see some comparison shots.

Do you have a link for that apk?
These probably work: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/themes/app-google-camera-gcam-lg-g7-thinq-t3855081
Only one I've found that works mostly is the latest fu24 gcam build. it does lag when focusing, but runs much better than the cstark27 builds, and any other just crashes on launch. Source: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77979245&postcount=999
Could you post some comparison pics please? Id love to see what that f1.5 cam can do or what the ultrawide can get turn into.
