Samsung Galaxy S5 G9000A Marshmallow software problems - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Since i installed Marshmallow on my G9000A, i've been presenting some problems. For example, after y lock-unlock my phone two times, the screen rotation, home button and recent apps button won't be working anymore. Nonetheless, before y lock and unlock my phone two times, those characteristics work perfectly, and with a third party app i can open the recent apps menu. Please, i could use some help, i don't know what may be causing this problems. With Lollipop everything works fine, and i'm sure it is a software problem because the buttons in terms of hardware are perfectly fine, the recent apps button even has his light, and the back button works perfect even in Marshmallow.

Don't know what else to tell you besides downgrading to Lollipop via Odin, I know it sucks, but Samsung is all about that profit

[Q] Serious buggs after autoupdate of Google Voice Search

Hi there.
I am pretty new here & didn't read up on billboards yet, but I had something very strange happening to me yesterday. The phone automatically downloaded a 'Google Voice Search'-update and since it's installed, I keep encountering problems.
The most annoying one - the camera doesn't work anymore. If I click on the icon, the screen just turns black and remains like that until I either hit the HOME button - or if I wait long enough - I get an Force close-popup.
Furthermore, after calls, the screen also turn dark sometimes, but turn back on after a while. Other that that, everything works fine as before.
Am I the only one?
Does anyone know whether it's update-related or whether it's just a coincidence. Everything else works fine, so I doubt it's something else.
Is there a way to reinstall the camera app without having to flash the phone. As I said, I am a newy & don't want to end up with a brick.
The malfunction started only yesterday after the auto-update. I am on a Spanish GSM network, but I guess that's not of much relevance. The phone is running Gingerbread 2.3.4.
Tks for any suggestions.

Screen rotation problem

Has anyone else had problems with auto screen rotation, mine has twice now in 4 days started either getting stuck in landscape mode or would start rotating back and forth by itself,I fixed it for now by clearing cache, but curious if anyone else has had this issue.
I have the same problem on 910c variant, even factory reset does nothing, I hope it is not a faulty hardware
Ditto on my 910T3 TMo. Stock rooted. Auto screen rotate stopped working 2 days ago.
I have wiped cache and dalvik.
I have tested sensors with other apps (they work).
I have run self tests (dial *#0*#)
I disabled all Xposed modules
I tried 3rd party screen rotation app
None of these have resolved the problem.
Also tried wiping Dalvik and cache and reflashing the kernel.
That didn't fix the issue either.
the problem seems to happen when the phone is hot, because when I wake up In the morning I turn it on and doesn't have the problem
I have the same exact issue. I've replaced my phone 3 times because of it. BTW I'm on 910T.
Hopefully this new software update that just rolled out fixes this issue.
I also noticed when in the camera app, if i rotate the phone between portrait and landscape, the controls on the screen rotate appropriately.
So again, that verifies the sensors are working and it isn't a hardware issue for me.
Also tried using stock launcher, but no change.
Am about ready for a factory reset.
I've experienced this also but I thought/think it was a Nova launcher bug that seems to have corrected itself.
Since the recent update everything has been running fine. So far I haven't gotten the screen rotation issue!
It used to happen at least 2 times a day. I think it might just be a software based issue.
SM-N910T still on 5.0.1 stock having the same issues. It gets stuck in landscape, stays stuck in over landscape position.
I ended up doing a factory wipe and updating to the stock rooted DOK2 rom that just came out.
So far no issues and screen rotation is working (along with several other nuisance issues that went away).
Just as an update I lost screen rotation on DOK2 stock rooted ROM. However, I believe it may have been related to some debloat cleanup I was doing.
Under Ti Backup I searched for "facebook" and manually forced uninstall of the 4 "system" apps that came up.
I don't know what any of those would have to do with screen rotation, but one of them does.
I was not able to successfully restore those files via Ti Backup either, so ended up dirty flashing the same DOK2 zip file to restore them.
That fixed it. So rather than forcing uninstall of those files I just removed updates and disabled them via the android app manager.
So far so good.

LG better fixes these issues in the Marshmallow build, or I am saying godbye to LG...

Touchscreen Issue: This thing has been persistent from the very beginning. After struggling for months, it has been mostly fixed with the last update. But double tap to wake is still a 50/50 chance, most of the time it's 4 taps to wake.
WiFi Issue: I have come across may complaint across internet about wifi issue for LG G4, ppl suggested several solutions but none really worked. Wifi connection suddenly drops, and also takes a considerable amount of time when waking up from sleep. It gets very annoying when I am on a voip or hangout call.
No it's not my router or my phone. Because it's the same on my home and work network, where other devices just work fine. Also I don't have any of those issues on CM12.1 rom. CM is quite nice on LG G4 but having to be using it on CM is not an option, as I lose the camera.
Besides I didn't pay the money to purchase a flagship device to use it on a different rom.
So, that's it. LG better fixes it on the Marshmallow, otherwise Good Bye LG.
Update: The WiFi is much better since I uninstalled Xposed. I am guessing that some xposed module had something to do with it. Can anybody confirm?
No change in the double tap to unlock though. Funny thing is that it works perfectly with CM.
Sorry to hear you are still having issues with your device. My only issue is the double tap to wake/sleep, but its something that I can live with. I never had an issue with wifi on any network, work/home/neighbors, ever.
Have you tried any of the roms supplied by our great devs or are you on stock?

I tried stock rooted debloated, also stock-based xtreme rom. Always having these issues.
Hmm..... Thats weird, My G4 has been runing good since I first purchased it in september..... Guess I got lucky.
I feel the ops pain, because I've had the WiFi issues a few times, and the tap to wake is 50/50 at best. I'm also growing tired of waiting for updates from LG or Tmo.
The poor 5GHz wifi support kills me. Only device in the household that has that issue. Other than that, though, I've been pretty happy with the G4.
I purchased my G4 a month ago and don't have those issues. Double tap works fine and my phone uses 5g WiFi at home. I wish you luck op.
As far as the WiFi is concerned, I have the same problem. Using WiFI Analyzer, I can see that all available wireless networks near me drop to 0 every minute or so, and then start back up. My wife also has a G4, and her device does not do that. I'm wondering if there was either a bad batch of WiFi radio chips, or poor connections to the mainboard for a group of these.
I think the tap to wake issue is because of that other stupid "feature" that I'm sure not a single person uses.
You know the one where when the screen is off, you swipe down from the top of the screen and it shows the clock? My phone often mistakes my taps to wake as swipes and tries to activate that instead (I can tell because the notification led comes on when that is activated).
Is there any way to turn that thing off? It is completely useless. It would be one thing if it showed the notifications but no it just shows the clock

I agree with you on... that is probably the case. A completely useless feature, which also doesn't work half the time.

Not sure if you seen in the g4 dev section there is a flashable zip for a camera now. I'll never go back stock.
It's your phone... Those problems don't exist for everyone.

Did you just root, or are you using other apps that uses root access? Did you uninstall or delete any system app?
It's very unlikely that rooting would break the camera. Try unrooting.. Super Su has the option to unroot in its settings. If doesn't work you may have to do a factory reset.

I rooted and installed wtrp, the first app I opened was snapchat and I was not able to open video snaps or make my own. I thought it was the app being supervised and I didn't check the camera app recording. I later installed apps for root like xposed installer to obtain snapprefs, but the problem continued to appear. After the download of a few apps and mods for root. I downloaded instagram and I was still not able to record videos. Finally I opened the camera and it was the same problem. I unrooted my phone and the video recording is working. I will root again and only test the camera app after root and after each app and mod I added before. I did try the factory reset and no luck.

Since you already got twrp up and running, I can try MicroMod777's stock rooted debloated rom.
Never had problems with my H811 even installed different ROMs from LP to MM and back. Never had hardware issues.
My only problem with the h811 is the stupid gps not shutting off and killing the battery, fixed by app ops
I'm stock everything and my notifications have basically just stopped working out of no where. I've tried every solution there is on the web to fix it except a factory reset - is this what it comes down to? Do I have to factory reset every few months just to keep the phone running normally? That's not really ideal.

*SOLVED* Galaxy S10 rotate sensor issues after update to One UI 3.0

*SOLVED*
Hi all,
Have my Galaxy S10 SM-G9730 Dual Sim (unrooted) for about 18months now and has never skipped a beat.... until the new One UI 3.0 update that I got a few days ago.
After a restart everything works fine then after 15min-2hrs I will lose auto rotate, screen brightness is also less responsive (proximity sensor seems to be ok). Toggling auto rotate/adaptive brightness on/off does nothing.
Same issue across all apps (Youtube, Camera, Messaging etc.)
Going to the *#0*# - SENSOR menu shows me that:
Accelerometer Sensor is responsive (x, y, z axis all change to reflect movement) but the "IMAGE TEST" doesn't rotate the image of the dog. Should it?
Gyroscope Sensor doesn't move at all, is it supposed to? "GYRO SELFTEST" shows a PASS.
I downloaded the app "Sensor Test" and most of the sensors give me the error:
"This sensor doesn't report any readings, seems you have error with sensor service in device firmware"
I have tried the following:
- Toggle auto rotate on/off.
- Restart phone (using power button - restart & using power & Vol down combo)
- Cleared cache from Bootloader menu.
- Settings - Apps - Reset app preferences.
- Factory reset (using both settings - Factory reset & using bootloader factory reset)
I have a feeling it is an app that isn't updated to run on One UI 3.0 but I have no way of finding the guilty app.
Called Samsung who were no help (try restart, try factory reset, send it to us but we will charge you as Samsung don't have international warranty , even though yes we agree that it was our update that probably caused it)
Seemed to be good for about 10 hours after the factory reset but came came again,
Anyone come across this and found a way out?
*edit* just checked after restart and Gyroscope Sensor shows values after restart (while auto rotate is working), This leads me to believe it is 100% the gyroscope at first which in time leads to the accelerometer also not working.
*edit x2* well I've just restarted my phone then went through every single app 1 by 1 (downloaded and bloatware) and checking for rotation after each app launch, that is: launch app, test rotation, close app, test rotation and do that 172 times!! I task killed maybe 5 times during the process..
after opening every app I still have auto rotation which leads me to believe its some system background process and not a 3rd party app issue. Damn..
Is there any way for me to monitor these? or monitor sensors stopping functioning?
*SOLVED* See post #6 below
I have same problem. After updating to one ui 3, the rotate sensor stops working after a while and only a reboot helps. Galaxy Note 10+ N9750 (snapdragon). Can't find fix yet
Same problem, autorotate feature is not working after software update (Samsung Galaxy S10 SM-G9730, One UI 3.0, Android 11)
Same thing here! If you read this please send a bug report to samsung we we can get their attention.
Didn't see anything on Reddit about it may be fixed on 3.1
Let's find out
*SOLVED*
Ok then, finally seem to have this sorted.
What I ended up doing was:
Downloading the latest firmware (the firmware that caused the problem) using frija.
I took a complete backup onto my laptop using Smart Switch.
I then flashed the firmware using Odin but again after a few hours sensors started to drop off again.
I then flashed the firmware again using Odin but this time I performed a nand erase while flashing.
Pushed my backup back onto my phone from my laptop using Smart Switch.
And hey presto!
This seems to have sorted it, I'm now well into day 2 and still working 100% which is the best it has been since the OTA firmware update.
Hopefully that will help others
My phone is doing this as well, I've got a US unlocked phone overseas as well. I followed your instructions and did the nand erase but after 2 days the sensors started messing up again.

It's the firmware..samsung is releasing buggy firmware..received 3.1 update yesterday... seems to have solved proximity and autorotate issue..smartview and NFC still not working for me.
So they force us into an update that breaks the phone and don't let us go back to the previous version of the software? That doesn't sound right.
Another marketing scam to get us on to the S21.
Same problem with S21 Ultra after Android 13. Rotate sensor flips 90degrees after some day or two of use. Now it was messenger that was active when the flip came.....
Any solutions apart from reflashing via 3rd party? That's quite a job to reset the phone.
Thanks!

Question Mi 11 - MIUI 13.0.8 Very weird bug please help.

Hello,
For weeks now i have been trying to figure out a very weird bug on my Mi 11 but i can't seem to find the cause.
What is happening is that the navigation buttons go crazy in some apps. For example when i press on one of the 3 navigation buttons in lets say Edge web browser the buttons register like 10 presses in a single second and send me all the way back to the home screen even though i hit the back button once to try and go one page back.
I thought that maybe there was a hardware problem or a problem with the screen protector but even without one i still have the same issue. And the issue only appears in certain apps or certain places in certain apps. For example in YouTube the home/back/navigate buttons work fine and register a single press until it is playing a video then when i press one it goes mental. I really hope to solve this issue because now i cant navigate back in apps because it just yeets me all the way back to the homescreen with a single press.
Things i have tried with no success
- Change the refresh rate and resolution
- Remove screen protector / clean phone
- Try out different launchers
- Reboot phone
- Remove apps that used a overlay / on screen widgets
- Update to MIUI 13.0.8 i ran the version prior to 13.0.8 and that is where the problem initially started out of nowhere.
I am trying to avoid a factory reset because that would take me a lot of work to get everything back.
I have uploaded a video to make the problem a bit more clear as you can see in the video in Google Play store the buttons function correctly but once i open Edge or Reddit they go crazy.
I just tried Edge and it works fine for me.
But also i got the "official" 13.0.4.
Which ROM do you run with V13.0.8?
And (this seems to be one of the important point for xiaomi devices) did you make once a factory reset after(!) you flashed the ROM?
