Sorry about the newbie question guys, but is there any way to get the Nougat SystemUI ported over to android 6.0.1? I feel like those of us who are sticking with Marshmallow would benefit form this. (mostly concerned about the quick toggles as they use up much less space on Nougat than on LP/MM

I'm thinking of buying the X3c but have loved the vanilla version of the Nexus 4 and getting regular updates.
I'm very new to the whole unlocking community and wanted to know if its possible to install a vanilla version of Lollipop on it and install future update. If so, would this affect any functionality? I read that the camera in low light will be affected.
Thanks in advance!
The closest you'll get to AOSP on this phone -- and it's very close -- is through Cyanogenmod and derivative ROMs. I've read that losing Sony's DRM keys results in a few changes (see thread). The big question is will you lose and miss those features. Secondly, will Cyanogenmod ever release a stable version for this model. Currently,
I love AOSP for its speed, efficiency, and UI but I'm bummed to lose stability and camera quality. That's the tradeoff will almost all the Android phones right now though. Those Nexus phones have a great update policy.
Keep an eye on the development section to see when Android 5.0 ROMs are available and read the threads to see how well they're working: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/development.
Thanks jayarmstrong will keep a lookout for those ROMs. Appreciate it
Hey all
After some while time with 5.0-Lollipop, its Success or failure?
I decided to open this post, after people,Users experienced and used.
Hoping everyone gives his opinion.
Thanks :good:
Couple of bugs here and there, but overall, success
Seems good except for the new Touchwiz theme, really really preferred the dark/blue one in 4.4.2.
I don't prefer the light theme that lollipop brings, i prefer kitkat theme over lollipop because it's easier on the eyes. So for me kitkat > lollipop plus a stable xposed beats an alpha stage of it at any time. Needless to say, i'm on a kitkat rom.
its good enough , but as the others said i would prefer the dark theme more , plus there are many lollipop features that is not exist in samsung's lollipop like multi users
I like lollipop better. First of all it has reduced power consumption, and this matters a lot for me, say, by 6:00PM I have about 70%-75% compared to 50-55% I had on KitKat.
Material design is a topic for discussion, but what to me -- I like it. Frankly, I felt a bit tired of android dark themes, and I just lived in peace with light letters on dark background as it stated that dark pixels should save the power, but since they've shown that there was another way to improve the consumption, I'm quite happy with the new one. It looks more official and less k0o|_H4C|{4, but my age corresponds to that =) I set a wallpaper and 4x1 Accuweather widget from S6 and find the look very attractive.
What to performance, I find quite no difference. Antutu shows some improvement, and there really might be some growth, but not dramatic.
I think we have to wait till we have lollipop 5.1.1 on our phones for a complete review; so far not bad in my opinion, especially the new visuals but performance might be improved.
It's an Android update, we would have been disappointed if Samsung didn't update a top device. However Lollipop works well, I've got a little more battery life (disabling Location History from Google Settings) and the general user experience seems to be smoother. About the white theme it's Lollipop fault, you'd be happy with a non themed TouchWiz? However I think that Lollipop isn't a successful step for Android (look at Nexus 5 issues) and Samsung's choice were in some way mandatory.
Hiya!
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, the 9.2". I am really pleased with the performance, looks, weight (it's like a feather!), but there is one thing I miss greatly from my old Nexus 7: Material Design
I really like how simple and neat it looks, honestly. I've been doing some research and the only options I'm finding are installing the Samsung 6.0.1 firmware. Has anyone successfully managed to install and run the stock Marshmallow, like the one that the Nexus device runs?
For the moment we only have cm12.1 and cm13 which are close to stock (plus cm theme and tweaks) Android but are still in development (not considered as stable build)

Considering OP just bought the device, it is more than likely a 2016 model that does not have an available Cyanogenmod yet.

There were some improvements, but nothing to write home about. I'm irritated that Sammy gives theme support to their new phones and don't even allow us to set to a darker theme to preserve battery without doing the salt the earth battery saver feature. :silly:
I don't think you're missing much with this update, more disappointment than anything, I also don't think OP's tablet is a 2016 because s/he isn't already on MM... I heard it shipped with MM. Sammy knows best. Sammy also leaves flagship android tablet with broken promises... and dreams. "Theme support coming" my eye.
I think it's telling that you can mod your build prop and install theme store from a shady source and it works... (haven't tried, the topic is floating around here somewhere.)
I hope at least this will mark an acceleration of update cycles for security purposes, especially since some researcher endorsed sammy devices for update speed.
Thanks everyone for the quick answers! I guess my only option is to wait for a more stable and fully functional Cyanogen then. I guess patience will be the key here :-/
My model is definitely the 2015, as it came with Lollipop and I had to download Marshmallow myself via the update tool, btw. Not much worried as the changes seem to be minimal though.
Hello everyone,
I was thinking of getting a Huawei P9, but I've heard some negative comments about the EMUI and want to know your opinion.
Here are my questions/concerns:
Performance, Is EMUI slower than stock android? (I have no idea if you can flash a stock rom on the P9)
Bloatware, are there any extra apps and can they be deleted?
Experience, does it give the traditional android experience and freedom, or is it more like iOS?
Rooting, can it be easily rooted?
If I don't like the EMUI, are there any 3rd party roms that can be put on the P9 for a better experience?
Thanks in advance.

Hi all. Looking for a module that will give me some in-depth privacy customization. App-Ops doesn't give enough control and I can't install xPrivacy as I'm on Nougat.
Not sure if there is something similar to xPrivacy as a Magisk module.
Running Magisk 13, Android 7.0.
Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
I am also on the hunt.. Would a port be possible? I've seen other ports but systemless xprivacy may be a bit much to ask?
If it possible it will be one of the most important modules.
I think Xposed is died for newer Android OS than 6.0
If it's not otherwise possible without Xposed, it's not going to be possible with Magisk.
I see Xposed GitHub has an update last 8 months ago... Has anyone considered creating a bounty setup for a port to Nougat / O? This has worked quite well in the past for rooting difficult devices... Perhaps a community bounty for something bigger like xposed would receive a lot of donations and really get the ball moving!
Also I have heard that it is possible to install xposed on Nougat however the functionality is somewhat buggy / compromised... Any risky adventurous types want to test and report back?
