[Q] What does the locked bootloader?

Hi everyone,
I read on other forums that the Optimus 4X bootloader is locked!
means it will be impossible to make the root or something needs to unlock it and then make the root?
Very interesting information, so does have Optimus 4X really locked bootloader?
Or where do you read about it?
Thanks.
Yes, where did you read this?

Do you mean answer "yes" that Optimus 4X have locked bootloader or do you answering on the first question about root?

My question was whether the locked bootloader means that there will never be the root...
I understand, but my reaction was on the post from axepted, if he mented "yes" on the fact that the Optimus 4X have locked bootloader.
So, the question is still here: do Optimus 4X have a locked bootloader?
Even if it is locked, it doesn't mean root is impossible.
The HTC Sensation had a locked bootloader and we still got root

Its OK.
Me too wondering, where do you read nikokazaa that the bootloader is locked?
Because what I know only HTC is locking bootloaders and it was one of the main reasons to plan a buy of Optimus 4X for me.

At the end of this video the LG Rep said it will have locked bootloader.
So, very sad info :crying:

I found some ROOT tutorial for Optimus 4X.
Owners of 4X, you can try if it will work?
It looks simple.

A bootlocker will not say it isn't possible to root the phone.
My Asus transformer prime has bootlocker but I've rooted it. Just have to wait to someone find a solution.

[Q] Unlock the BL on 4.3

Hi there,
I have successfully upgrade to 4.3.
I'd like to unlock the bootloader, then flash supersu and ... if the camera is so worse... relock.
My question is: I have a TA.img dump of early days of my phone (which works) do I need a new dump or after unlock, if not happy can I restore this one?
Thanks!
The bootloader bug is fixed on the new 4.3 firmware.

I would say you need a new Backup because something in this area has got an update.
I have already unlocked my bootloader following sonys guide.
Now i'm running the .290 Firmware from here
Whats next? How to bring a recovery and root to the phone?

Will the TA backup of a previous version okay with 4.3?
Should be.
But don't worry, I have just unlocked on 4.3 and the camera is fine.

I don't know. But do you have USB debugging on?
Google doesn't say something for your problem? Which tutorial/method you use?
You need root to backup your TA, so yes and no
Strictly seen you don't need it to unlock, but i strongly suggest you do backup your TA do you can restore your drm keys should you ever have the need to

Yes, it totally wipes all data on the phone, e.g contacts, messages, call history, apps and data, and everything which belongs to internal storage.
You should get a backup before you unlock your BL.
You should just unlock it if you wanna root, and be aware of its pros and cons

Yes it is well known that there is no need to unlock in order to root
However, he has a Z1S. There is no way to root that phone at all, so the point is moot.
He cannot unlock the boot AND he cannot root.
Really? Z1S is unroorable? Or it's like Z1 kitkat, hard to root?
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Its impossible.
Z1 KK is rootable because you can downgrade.
There are no rootable firmwares for the Z1S as it was introduced on 4.3 which has no root exploit.

you can only do that after unlocking the bootloader. But doing it that means you do not get to back up your TA.
Unlocking the bootloader is an easy way to get root, but not always the best way

Nope, thats the first pre-req to install a CWM which helps you get root access.

So, all Huawei phones can be rooted only by unlocking the bootloader?
