Hey guys just thought since the new update for the Note 4 N910F is out it could be useful to have a specific thread regarding just what the people that have already updated think of the update.
Most threads currently focus on how to get the update on your device but I think having a single place for user opinion and feedback regarding update is good
So what's battery life like? Better or worse than Android 5.0.1
General Day to Day performance ?
Multitasking Performance?
Any under the hood changes that are not so obvious?
Any Lags?
I've just gotta say I'm really surprised by this update it's definetly the smoothest update so far,
Multi task button lag is gone
Everything is much much smoother and faster no lags anymore
Only issue I have faced is I was on the phone to my mate yesterday and when I tried to turn the screen on it'd take quite a while and sort of stutter but that's probably due to me not clean wiping to install.
Ram usage is much much better on this
Can't comment on battery cause I haven't had it long enough yet but it seems much better more optimised
To be honest with you I would say I was impressed with Samsung for putting out a firmware this good that just works but to be quite frank I'm not. I'm simply contempt, this isn't anything special it's just what the phone with specs this good should have been when it was released, none of this makes up for how long they have been taking to update phones and how disgusting they've treated the note 4

Sounds Fantastic, for me the biggest issue was the multitasking lag, I could not tolerate it, I felt like the whole device was completely crippled, the main reason why I've been on official cm12.1 and had to part way with all the s pen features. I completely agree that the phone should have been like this on release but one think I noticed with samsung is while they consistently manage to have the best hardware combination in terms of specs, they always find a way to screw something up somewhere along the way lol
itss too soon to say, but can be a placebo, but the performance maybe seems like 4.4.4, give us 2 or 3 days
It is stagefright safe, according to some of the Google play tests available...
Action Memo does not work via the SPen Menu anymore. Direct pen input neither. Gotta say that I did not do a factor reset before flash though.
EDIT: it was due to the repacked rom that was missing hidden and cache images. everything fine now.

As Xposed been updated to 5.1.1. for Note 4 yet?
I think we already have a thread about Lollipop all stuff about it can be discussed. Another useless thread, will be closed soon as well.

I've just swapped to a nexus 6. Not enjoying the pure Android experience and thinking about installing cyanogenmod.
Does this work with GoPro cameras? My previous OnePlus (which had cyanogenmod) did not...
No answers?
I mean... what are you trying to do with it?
Did your one plus work with baseball games?
The OnePlus could not connect to the GoPro wireless network.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
OK we are getting a little bit closer... Try actually explaining the situation. You are making it very hard on people. Especially since your first post didn't even establish what kind of go pro your talking about, or what functionality you were trying to use...
So are you trying to ask if the gopro app works on cyanogenmod?
If you google "does gopro app work with cyanogenmod, the very first result is from the one plus forum.
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/gopro-app-incompatible-with-latest-version-of-cyanogenmod.319459/
However the issue they discuss is not an issue with connecting to the wireless network, its simply that the app is apparently not made available in the play store for the one plus one on firmware > CM12
Though it seems that you can simply download and install the APK yourself... Have you tried this?
If you wont give us details on what your experiencing it will be very hard to help you. Don't make us work so hard, because quite a few people simply wont, and they might have your answer. Please give more then a sentence, and actually describe your problem. What your trying to do, how your trying to do it, and what you have done or researched so far in trying to fix it... Your MUCH more likely to get actual help if you do that.
Probably worth checking on the CM forums, finding a user who both runs CM and uses a gopro may be difficult.
Or just try it... Since you definitely could have made a backup, flashed CM tested and reverted to stock by now.
Head over to the main G4 development page if you are interested in this for the H811/H815.

There's still a long way to go. Most things are still broken and new builds will generally break things on a regular basis. Just be aware before heading over. The post doesn't need more Posts saying goodbye this/that isn't working, it's still very much a WIP.

True, and the OP doesn't have the most recent build where most stuff is actually working. I'm running the 10/15 build (page 76-78...somewhere in there, posted by codeworkx) and most of my audio is working. Haven't tried bluetooth, but I rarely use it, apparently voice calls have an echo, but I never call anyone, either. The only thing I really use that has an issue is the camera that delays on opening, but I'm sure that'll be worked out shortly. As soon as codeworkx got to work on it, it's honestly been pretty stable for a WIP, but I think I have a higher tolerance for broken builds and features, having been a crackflasher for 7 years now. I'm just happy to be back on AOSP/CM at this point with this phone.

I hope nobody thought I was saying it is ready for prime time! Just a heads up. I have not installed it yet as I will wait for a more highly functioning build, but I also know there is a thirst for development here, so I wanted to share the good news!!
Honestly, if you were to try the 10/15 build, you'd be surprised at how "ready from prime time" it actually is. I've been using it as my DD for the last 2 days and it's actually been pretty nice. Couple small things here and there, but the only thing that's affected me at all so far was the camera delay. Now that there's at least a dev or two that seems like they know what they're doing, I'm hoping development for AOSP/CM stuff starts picking up. The little time that codeworkx has put in so far has been looking extremely promising. (Not to take away from the OP on that, but code made it so that I can actually use it as a DD with sound.)

Hmmm, I didn't realize it was that far along. Between the 815 talk there, it has become tough to follow. I may give it a go. I assumed you did a complete wipe before installing? Thanks, @schreckles
EDIT: You don't use bluetooth I see, and I do quite a bit. From what I understand, that doesn't work, so that's a non-starter for me. Guess I'll wait.

Yup, sure did. Full wipe (especially when switching back and forth between CM/AOSP and stock roms) and then flashed the 10/15 H811 build that codeworkx posted the other day, along with the nano gapps he'd suggested.
Small issues: Your LED will stay lit up blue until you plug the phone in and unplug again. No biggie. No "OK Google" or anything that requires the phone mic for me thus far (ie Google Sound Search.) Camera takes approximately 4 years to open, but it does open, and the shots it produces aren't bad. They aren't as good as stock, but that's typically been the trade-off even since back in my OG Droid days when going from stock to non-stock base. Call audio, bluetooth, and NFC apparently have some issues still, but I rarely use any of those, so meh. Oh, and I get a popup stating "Settings has closed" every so often, but it doesn't affect anything. I'm sure I could find the cause if I was motivated, but I'm sure it'll get worked out soon enough.
...Mostly just stuff I can live without for now that's broken. I've even been using Xposed and some of my favorite modules without any ill effects.
So is it more or less a theme now or what? I know what CM is, but as far as functionality, is it quite a bit faster than stock or what?
Thanks!
I am assuming that this is the only public aosp build for the G4?

It's a completely different build of Android using different frameworks and whatnot. It's built upon AOSP and tweaked framework to make it CyanogenMod. I'm not sure if the one I am using currently is the one in this thread but so far it's been pretty smooth. There are definitely some issues but it's a lot further along than I though it would be. Kudos to those guys!
EDIT: That is the same build I am using (in case anyone is wondering).
Due to death of my nexus 5 I chose to switch to Xiaomi Mi5. Good specs, very affordable just like the old nexus 5. Only annoying thing is MIUI.
Could you recommend some close to stock Android rom? Something that would be most nexus/pixel-like
Lineage OS.
for more features Resurrection Remix and many more.
I don't think I want anything but clean, stock Android. No extra features, just stock, stable rom. Thank you very much, I'll check it as soon as I get the device
If you want pure stock Android, you might as well get a Nexus 5X for the same price. It will run stock Android much better than the Mi5.

Here's the ROM you're looking for, pure AOSP with updated CAF sources, with Google Pixel theme and Assistant enabled:
ht tps://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/development/rom-aosp-caf-t3557568
Works great with this kernel:
ht tps://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/development/kernel-brand-kernel-cm13-alpha-1-0-t3480663
IMO it runs vastly smoother than LineageOS or anything based on it, but maybe I just haven't tinkered enough with them. Been using it for a few days without any major bugs (just video recording and charging led). I recommend you flash one of the compatible camera firmwares from another thread.

Yeah, but for stock Android and actually 100% working custom ROMs, the 5X would be the way to go, and that alone would out weigh the extra storage space.
You bet a handful of custom ROMs for the Mi5 and you still have issues. Like what was mentioned above, a mostly working ROM with issues with video recording. Also, last time I tried a custom ROM on a Xiaomi device (the Mi4), everything pretty much worked, but camera quality was horrible and that was a deal breaker for me.
Anywho, enjoy your Mi5!

The Galaxy S2 was the last Samsung phone with all the proper sources released, hence it had stable ROMs. We have sort of working semi-recent code for the Mi5, hence there are problems with camera HAL3 and capicitive touch buttons on the lgd varient.
IMO it's very stable otherwise, I don't have crashes or random reboots, speed is equal or comparable to the One Plus 3 (a massive improvement), and battery life, mulitasking and audio is better than on MIUI. Not to mention it's nice having Magisk, Viper4Arise, Google Assistant, Fingerprint wake up, F2FS, Doze, OMS substratum, custom kernels and various other mods working flawlessly for once, and without the device overheating - it doesn't even get noticeably warm.
It makes a better Nexus device than the 5x with it's overheating SD808, even with it's small flaws. I think you made the right choice.

Didn't actually know that, everyday you learn new stuff.
My reasoning buying Mi5 was that probably there are many people who buy this phone because of the price and but hate the looks of MIUI, hence the demand for a solid, clean ROM. I suppose I wasn't wrong after all.

Well to be honest I thought exactly the same, but development is kind of slow. I think most people jumped for the OP3 because they were afraid Xiaomi wouldn't release sources, but Xiaomi did release bootable sources, twice so far. A far cry from OP3, but then again this phone is half the price with almost identical specifications.

To be very frank, I am in your boat for the same reason in search of stock feel since I moved to MI5 from Nexus5.
Lineage-OS is said to be stable but I am not satisfied with it's experience since it requires still more stability and improvements. Camera becomes bit issue once you move away from MIUI. Battery life is only ok for MIUI rom and not in any other ROM. So I would suggest stick to MIUI if you want battery life and better Camera. For stock experience, let the LOS mature to some extent to make you move from MIUI.
Sorry for a little OT guys, but is there any stock'ish rom which utilizes home button the same way MIUI does (tapping to go to home screen instead of actually pressing it)? I've tried several roms and none of them could do that which is very disappointing.

I also went from Nexus 5 to Mi 5 and I must say it wasn't a bad choice but definitely not the best one either. I'd say the biggest problem of MIUI is stability. After almost 9 months of using it, I still face problems with basic features from time to time (gps is whimsical, wifi connection goes off randomly sometimes). MIUI itself is a great OS in my opinion after you manage to get used to the interface (DPI change is a must in my case). What I like the most is the ability to make an FTP server out of your phone to transfer smaller files wirelessly, I rarely use cable thanks to this. I know it can also be achieved using 3rd party apps but having it built into file manager is more convenient.
I'd recommend you to set up MIUI the way you like with some 3rd party launcher (I use nova), at least until we get a fully-functional stock rom with battery life comparable to MIUI.
Actually MIUI is far from terrible. I have the global version 8.1 and it works fine. It's stable, works really fast, no lags whatsoever. Just changed default launcher to Google Now Launcher. There are quite a few handy options like securing applications with a fingerprint. Don't know about battery life though, in the reviews I've seen online people said 4-6 SOT, will have to check that. Quick charge is on board so not such a big problem.
Anyway, got the money I paid, less than 300$ for 64gb seems like a wonderful deal. Very happy with the purchase so far.
About lineage OS and other custom ROMs, can't one just use stock MIUI apps for camera and other things, that could potentially benefit from it?
Hear me out. I think the phone is amazing. The software is crap, now the 5 is out the updates have already slowed. Not to mention OOS is always behind on security.
Now custom roms. I appreciate highly the work so many devs have been doing especially sultan, lineage and paranoid. But theres always something thats a bit off, camera especially, lag etc. Always end up going back to OOS then get bored again, try roms again.
Is there anyone else like me who has had enough of being a crack flasher or gets bored easily and has just had enough of trying to find perfection from a oneplus phone ?
What do you want to hear? Need a confirmation for yourself to get another phone to make the step a bit easier?
Yes, I hate the manner of OnePlus to not even fix a single thing, like the implementation of the Camera2 API. Sure, they lied to us more often than we want. But what company does the job better?
If you want to get a new phone: Fine. I'm also looking for a replacement. But I'm looking for phones for weeks or months, so I'm sure, the phone is good enough and beloved by devs. For me, no OP-device anymore. But really fed up? No.

I dont meed a confirmation from anyone. Ive made a topic for discussion. For instance i have a oneplus one as well ae my back up. There is more stable nougat roms on that, a 3 year old phone than there is on the newer higher spec 3t. Phones are getting ridiculous. What the hell is with these curved screens now so no tempered glass fits properly.
The next phone i get needs to be something that will have good support. Preferably from a company who releases camera sources

Ah! I am defeateddddd! Pa had application lag. For instance it opens but messages would appear after lag and same with settings. Stock is better but i hate the delay in updates that dont fix basic bugs or update security.
My 2 cents; OOS continues to be good enough I don't even bother to unlock anymore. I was a Nexus fan for sure, but the 6P was my end of the line (yeah yeah, end of the line anyway). I had numerous issues and it finally got the bootloop problem that was plaguing many users. I got a used replacement, sold it and never looked back from the 3T. I tried most roms for the Nexus lines and while many were excellent, it was always something. When I got the 3T I decided to just leave it stock for a week and have not looked back. I get at least 2 days from it, it charges insanely fast, have had no lag/reboots/lockups, nothing. I would say I'm a fairly normal user except no social media really, privacy and all.
I keep a tab on what's new and as of today, nothing at all has tweaked my interest. Samsung/Motorola/HTC = never, too bloated. Pixel = too expensive.
I do feel the security updates are a bit slow and some additional OOS goodies would be nice, but for the price, for me it's hands down still the best phone.
Stock is the best rom, ftw

I don't know and I don't care to be honest. The stable version of OOS is an inferior version of the beta at this point. The beta is 100% stable in my experience and offers more features than the stable one as you've said.

Wlan signal quality is very bad with mine.
Noticeable in many games, when it is endlessly stucked until the it the signal gets through again.
With 4G there is 0 problems, it's only this weak Wlan module, it's getting on my nerve.
