Hi guys,
After downloading the latest OTA (OOS 4.1.3) and pressing reboot and update, I got the usual message "Android is preparing to update" (or something like that), so I set me phone down a looked away. After a couple of seconds, my attention was drawn to it because there was a screen with a red triangle and some letters, but I couldn't read it because I wasn't looking at the phone before and so I missed it.
After that, the phone shut down, and it wouldn't turn itself on (as it's normal when updating). So I turned it on, and it went directly to the OnePlus recovery and started updating. The update went fine and the phone rebooted and said the update was successful.
Everything seems to be working fine. But I keep wondering what was that screen with the red triangle before the phone rebooted? Has this ever happened to you?
TLDR: After pressing "reboot and update" a black screen with a red triangle and some text showed up and I didn't get the chance to read it because I was distracted. The update went fine and everything is working greate. Just wondering what that screen said.

Maybe some new warning about recovery or bootloader or other gizmos.
If it didn't cause any problems, ignore it

My brothers phone was dropped (apparently hes a bit clumsy!) Whenever he was texting using the keyboard, it was making some very strange characters on the screen, whenever he would push 1 key, several would appear, etc.
't' ='d 's03' etc... stuff like that.. obviously thought a reboot would fix the issue. So when we rebooted the phone, it turned out that it couldnt get past the g1 screen and was stuck at the Triangle with the yellow exclamation point. Pushing ALT+L showed the recovery screen. We went through the appropriate options and held down back + home for 25+ secs to get it to reboot. It rebooted fine and worked for an hour or so, until the Voice Search just kept popping up as if he was asking it to, so we tried to reboot the phone again and do the recovery thing, this time it wouldn't get past the recovery after holding down home + back. I can't push back + home either to get it to restart, so I'm thinking the home key may be broken or stuck.
Any thoughts on this issue or has anyone else experience such? He'll more than likely be sending it in today since its still under warranty and has NOT been rooted.
Thanks!
same thing happened to my first g1..its a hardware issue send it in
Was hoping it wasn't a hardware thing, but so be it. Thanks for the heads up.
I have had my S5 since last year. I haven't done any modifications to it and have kept it completing stock.
I got a notification saying there was a security breach and that the phone needed to restart in order to undue any changes made. So I pressed the restart button and it started to restart normally until I saw in tiny blue text "RECOVERY BOOTING...." on the top left corner.
Nothing started to happen after a while until it restarts, and the cycle repeats for ever.
what could i do to repair it?
Thank you!
PD: It have a yellow led turn on stable.

moto x purchased from web site, for use on Tmobile
i'm currently deployed. Lucky enough to have WiFi on base and T-mobile so communication home this deployment has been amazing. Saw lollipop came out today. downloaded it. installed it. phone boots up with the regular "TOMMYBOT Mobile" and then the spinning M worlds. then it gives me the password (for the decryption). it took a min and then said some error about corrupt files and that i needed to factory reset my phone. so i pressed the button and nothing happened... so i powered down the phone. and then everything started up the same. but when i put in my password to decrypt it takes a minute and then says starting android.... and then the screen goes black. tried 5 times. longest i waited was 30min. (left it over night now, so 6 ish hours)
i can start my phone pressing the power and volum down and it brings up a fastboot menu? but even from there the factory reset option just boots my phone back up as if i pressed the power button.
any help is appriciated.
thank you,
tom
Edit: followed these instructions (cant link, motorola global portal)
and a matching youtube video and i get stuck at the dead android with the triangle "!" sign mine says "No command." under him and i cant get the next menu to open
asked for help here (link motorola forums help) they suggested verizon assistant app. the program
i've treid 3 times now. each time the start repair makes a command "getvar all" come up on the bottom half of my fast boot screen. and then thats where it stays. the "Repair" button on the right does not become clickable.
Solution:
once on the dead android screen to open the next menu it was press and hold volume up AND power for 3-5 seconds together .
from there i did the data wipe/factory reset and booting up i'm already on lollipop. of course all un clouded data lost but i'm just glad to have a phone again.
I bought a used Droid Turbo 64 GB and for the second time I am stuck in a situation where the screen went blank and now the device won't boot. I get to the silver/blue "Droid" splash screen where it sits for a moment or so, then the screen goes blank. After the first time I wiped and started over, it worked well for three days. Now it happened again. I tried wiping cache, did not help. I was thinking I could reflash Lollipop and would not lose data this time but can't seem to find the appropriate file to flash. Can someone point me to it, or let me know if that's not the right direction to go? As soon as I get a replacement I am sending this back but would like to try and get it up and running for the next few days.

But is it wise to fix a device you are returning?

Just trying to get it to be usable until I can get a replacement phone.
While I was researching and posting here, I shut the phone off and put it on a charger. It said it was 61%. It got to 98%, I took a chance and powered it on and it got past the splash screen and went through an optimization of 63 apps. Finished and booted. Lasted about 10 mins then went black again and I am stuck.
I'm not sure if this is what your talking about but If you press the power button when it is in sleep mode and you see the clock and notifications but the background is black. If you pull up it should unlock the phone but everything goes black. That happens to me every so often. I reset my whole phone once thinking it was broken. All you have to do is pull down rather then up and the background appears and all is well again.

Thanks for the info but this phone is locking up. We turned off that mode. The screen does black after 1 min (in display settings). In our case, there is no way to get it to come back on. And during reboot, it goes black and never finishes booting.
You're best bet is to flash the stock firmware. http://rootjunkysdl.com/?device=Droid Turbo&folder=Firmware
i have the same issue, did firmware flash with fastboot and the fix with the verizon software with no results
My Moto X 1st Gen (XT1052, Locked bootloader, default Lollipop 5.1.1) went dead out of nowhere. I noticed that my WhatsApp was FCing every few minutes. I ignored it, but the phone just went dead. When i pressed and held the power button, the phone went into a boot loop. I can access the recovery menu but it does not go into any of the options, just goes back to bootloop after selecting any option.
Also, i notice that the screen flashes for about half a second, every 20 secs and i can see the Android bot lying on its back with the Red exclamation and 'No command' text below it.
What's the solution to this?
