I´m using android phones since 2010, the first Android Version i started with was 1.6 Donut, and i´ve always had a custom rom running on all my phones, because i was missing features, performance sucked, etc ...
Now i think it´s time for a change ! Oxygen 9.5.4. really fits my needs, i don´t miss anything important, only a root based/magisk adblocker i used on omni (but i don´t wan´t to unlock the bootloader this time because widevine L1 would be gone )
I´ll change to the beta programm when it´s available to get early access to Android Q , but that´s it, no more custom ROMS for me this time .
Most things are achievable without root nowadays (Pixel Launcher with bridge, Youtube Vanced , etc) and i´m tired of daily /weekly flashing of custom ROMS and dealing with their bugs and not yet implemented functions ...
So, what is your opinion on that? Will you keep Oxygen or switch to your favourite custom ROM ? (When it´s available)
Think i might keep mine rooted+stock+substratum... But the stock android looks very good atm with LS customizations and a few other customizations + i like the pixel launcher where the searchbar gets these cool animations of what the google webpage has...

I will keep oxygen os I have the T-Mobile version of this phone but will switch to global oxygen os and flash the nolimits magisk rom
I'm looking forward to Renovate ICE rom. It's stock Oxygen OS but with a load of useful customisations and cosmetic theming options.
Yes you lose Widevine L1 but you get the best of OOS that you can't get on source built custom ROMS. It's a nice balance for me
The good thing about a bootloader unlocked device is choice.. can flash custom ROM anytime we want and change back to stock anytime also.. I'm actually quite ok with Oxygen OS as it is but can't help flashing custom ROMs when I see a good one up.. with OnePlus we have a choice but more and more manufacturers are making it very difficult for us to have that choice.. I've dumped S 10+ for that very reason and sticking with OnePlus stock for now
I'm going to keep a rooted stock rom, but will flash the global rom for faster updates once I get this bootloader unlocked.
That will all depend on whether we get fully functional FP reader for me. If we do then I think the phone will rock with a good custom rom in it.

That's why you should feed back testing info to the devs so they can fix them. They're not a massive corporation and they ain't getting paid to compile these roms.
Stock/root/substratum for a while I think. This is my first OnePlus device, want to play thoroughly first.

good point, as i remember there were some problems with some oneplus devices and FP reader !
i used omni rom on my oneplus 5t before and really loved it, but it took a lot of weekly builds until everything was implemented and working fine ... but then it was my favourite ROM
but for now i really will try to keep stock Oxy , i really like it and i´m tired of flashing and waiting for features ...
by the way, Arnova´s newest GCAM works fine on stock Oxy ... https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog414/
Once we see a Pixel Experience rom I'll be switching for sure.
I'm definitely keeping my phone stock. Once I'm able to unlock the bootloader, then I'm going to the Global version. With the 6T, custom ROMS was having issues with the fingerprint scanner until about two months ago.
I was a flashoholic from the Droid X all the way to the Nexus 6P days but since getting the OnePlus 5 and then the 6, they were the only phones I never felt the need to flash a custom Rom. I won't be likely work this either. I unlock, TWRP, custom kernel and root the instant I get my phones but that's all I need anymore. OOS is more than fine
OxygenOS is great I have stayed on OxygenOS since oneplus 3
I will eventually flash a custom ROM ??
Im also surprised of how well OxygenOS is working and fits needs. Nevertheless I will try and use custom Roms. Just hope they run on 90 hz and the scanner works and also the selfie cam, otherwise I will stick to OOS.
One more who stays on OOS here, mainly because of immersive gestures support (even android Q still has his ugly navbar). But I rooted it on the second day, second because thought having L1 is kinda nice, but after discovering that even with L1 NETFLIX only outputs 720p I decided to unlock, magisk it and install adaway.
Waiting for pixel experience
I had a lot of problems caused by root on my current SGS9+
- not working Google Pay (had to do weird things to get it working)
- some banking apps displaying root warning and won't work or won't let me login by fingerprint
- lost some of the best Samsung features: Secure Folder for example
All I wanted root for was to remove bloatware...since OnePlus don't have much bloatware I only need AdBlock...for adblock I found 2 nice methods:
- https://blokada.org/
For YouTube ads we have Vanced thing and I love it so...overall I don't think I will root my next device (which will be OP7Pro in a few days )
I will most likely keep OOS as well, it's been good to me and the first time I have ever remained on stock was starting with my 6T.
I just wish substratum overlays would show without having to reboot. Other than that, I have no issues with stock.
staying with oxygen as usual; it's very nice
So, I was a bit impatient when getting this phone, and I got it around 2 months earlier (first week of July), in the form of the K20 Pro. Now that the Mi 9T Pro has come out, I wanted to know what exactly are the differences? From what I gathered, my phone with the global rom just has its bootloader already unlocked, and the global rom is fake. I noticed as much when I found out that I wouldn't be receiving updates for my OS, and some banking apps were either warning me about root access, or refusing to work (Google Pay).
What I was thinking was to flash the Mi 9T Pro ROM on my phone when it became available. Considering it should be official, I thought that it might work using the MiFlash tool as well, which would be pretty nice. However I'm not sure whether this is possible. What I wanted to ask was - is it possible to flash the OFFICIAL EU ROM for the Mi 9T Pro, on my K20 Pro (w/ the fake global rom)? And if so, would there be any benefits (outside of finally getting updates, and having an official ROM)? I doubt I'd be able to relock my bootloader (and frankly I don't want to risk hardbricking my phone...), but I can circumvent that with Magisk.
Thanks a ton!

Yes you should be able to flash the official EEA fastboot ROM, when it's available. And you are correct in saying you won't be able to lock the bootloader. Benefits depend on your definition and what your comparing against. Since the 7 day wait was over I've been on custom ROMs. I'm my opinion there are no benefits to being on any official MIUI, but then I don't like MIUI. When on the EEA ROM you should get OTA updates, after that I'm struggling to think of a benefit. I'm sure others can add more.

I'd honestly agree with you - I'm a bit of a purist. But at this point, I've become way too attuned to the gestures, and they all feel so second-nature to me now, compared with what I've heard for Android.
Also my worries about custom ROMs were about some hardware compatability, since it's a relatively new device. Like the camera for example, I was planning on installing a custom ROM later on down the line, like in 2020.
That's great to hear though, thanks a bunch!

The MIUI gestures was the only thing I liked and actually missed after the week, I'm hoping the Android Q gestures will be good enough. As things stand you may not have to wait until the end of the year, things are picking up the pace more lately. Most ROMs are stable, provided you follow the installation guides fully and not take shortcuts. Really it's camera apps that still have some catching up to do. The ANX app, which is the stock MIUI camera app, still has bugs. It crashes when trying to access the telephoto lens. I've not found a GCam port that works well yet, the one that can access all three lenses constantly has FC's. And ones that are more stable don't access all three lenses.
After I have heard about colors problems, I'm worried about what is going to happen at this time in March 2020, many new phones will be released with better specs and maybe better community support. I have been deciding between a mi 9t pro and this one, all that worries me about the mi9t is the front camera, that can be easily be broken after a few years of use lol

Does it stop making fp work? WTF. What a poor service from Realme, why do other BKK companies allow it? This is dumb
Unlocking bootloader which is a prerequisite to install custom roms disable fingerprint sensor.

That's a dirty move from OEMs, I'm still struggling to buy the phone that satifies my needs
As title, i just bought myself a realme gt 2- global version, everything is in general quite good, from screen, camera to battery life. But realme multitasking is terrible, with 8gb ram but i cant keep more than 5 apps in background. I wonder if this smartphone running snapdragon 888 can have a custom rom something like pixel experience?
I do not think the bootloader can easily be unlocked, especially on the Global version.
As far as I understandm the Chinese devices allow for the bootloader to be unlocked so that Chinese resellers can flash the global ROM and ship the phones internationally.
Perhaps Realme will change their minds and allow us to unlock the bootloader and make custom ROMs, however I would not count on it.
it will be available for sure in the near future.

Thats great!
Any news or instructions on how to install it??
Is it for global version?
On one hand it looks like EEA has finally catched up with most of the missing features from Xiaomi.eu/China(see PS) and you're also getting Android 13, easy OTAs, ability to lock the bootloader and a whole bunch of optimization and new features from MIUI 14. And a bigger support community since it's the official ROM after all. And access to even more BETAs since Xiaomi.eu doesn't do betas on this device
On the other hand, all of this will come to xiaomi.eu when the stable's out anyway. And it will probably be even better than stock. And there still might be a few missing Chinese features that will never be added to EEA/Global.
It's really mixed for me tbh. What do you guys think ? What are you going to do ?
PS: I know there's no China ROM for 11T Pro, but Xiaomi.eu actually ports Chinese features even without the Chinese ROM.

Better time to stay on the Xiaomi EU rom and keep the advantages that do not exist on the stock (call recorder, Full themes, etc.).
On a stock beta version you can have bugs, sometimes not too serious or sometimes you will have to downgrade.
When it comes to stock ROM support, you will only get answers if you want to buy a new phone.
I had the 11 t pro but disappointed with the autonomy and I replaced it with a 12 pro which initially had less autonomy than the 11 t pro with A12 but A13 corrected this problem.

I'm getting around 6h SOT on my device...which I also think it's kinda mediocre. What about you ?
What if A13 fixes battery on 11T Pro as well.
AS for tech support, I guess the stock has a bigger community where I can find the issues easier. But the xiaomi.eu community is much nerdier, so it depends lol

My SOT is never the same, what I see is that since A13 I charge my phone less often and I've gone from 24 hours to 30/36 hours.
Many report the improvement in autonomy with A13.

On Xiaomi Eu rom you have to be precise and make a logcat for bugs.
Yes, but I'm getting older and contrary to most of this community, I don't like tinkering with my device that much anymore. I see that MIUI 14 introduces most of the features that I loved from xiaomi.eu and I'd love the comfort of OTAs, safety and no headaches due to having an unlocked bootloader and just generally, the ease of use of a stock device with no sort of tinkering whatsoever. And just easier back-ups. Also, I'd like having beta access to Xiaomi since xiaomi.eu has none for my device
Now, I'm wondering if flashing using the official xiaomi tool will just lock bootloader and fix/restore everything to stock.

Betas will still be based on the Global.
Betas are test roms to finalize the global stable.

Hi, I had quite a nooby question, I have an Indian variant of 11T Pro which is running on its latest Indian variant of MIUI, can I relock my bootloader during flashing of EEA variant of MIUI or will that brick my device? Not sure if this the correct thread, I'm sorry if it isn't, didn't know where to ask this question. Thanks

On this device (VILI) you can re-lock the bootloader with any stock fastboot rom with Miflash.
