Device automatically restarts every time I open Facebook app - Motorola Droid Bionic

I cannot do anything on Facebook on my Droid Bionic! Every time I open the Facebook app, the device automatically restarts on its own. No other app causes the device to restart. Only Facebook! It does this every single time I open Facebook.
Does anybody know what the problem could be?

Facebook home on xperia z

Hey guys,
So here I will share on how to get facebook HOME on your xperia z .
STEP 1 : Root your device
STEP 2 : Download buildprop editor from the play store (FREEEEE)
STEP 3 : Edit your buildprop like the following :
ro.product.model=GT-N7100
ro.product.brand=samsung
ro.product.name=t03gxx
ro.product.device=t03g
ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
ro.com.google.clientidbase=android-samsung
Note, please make sure you know what was the original build prop for future use ( I took screenshots to remind myself)
STEP 4 : Since Xperia Z has facebook pre installed, go to \setting\apps , delete Facebook.apk (make a backup)
Now you can uninstall facebook via settings ( it will show uninstall updates, but the app will be removed completely)
STEP 5 : go to play store , download facebook app, log in, go to settings, scroll down, check if you have the facebook home option , if NOT , please check the above steps to see if you made any mistake, if YES , dont do anything, just get out of the app (DO NOT CHECK THE OPTION)
STEP 6 : download the leaked facebook home apk ( im not eligible to post the link, so please get it from androidpolice)
STEP 7 : Install home, enjoy, everything working fine, on my XZ ...
STEP 8 : If ya dnt mind , Hit Thanks
nice guide.
well done
personally don't use facebook anymore but still really usefull for others to know.

Funny, I tried that initially but didnt work out for me... reason being that the the 'signatures' of the facebook home and facebook apk had to match, they didnt match on my phone even after i disabled/removed updates n all.. hence removed it completely...
The Facebook Home APK did install and work. However the Chat Head doesn't seems to work. Messages do not pop-up on the home screen.

once home is installed, open the settings (settings for home), go to messenger settings, enable sms/mms and anything else you need. Should work then.
Also, some users report a bug about chat heads missing, hopefully thats not your case
Sorry for my misinformation. Messaging popup on the home screen but chat heads is not working though... Did you get it to work?

Glad you got it working, do post some updates tomorrow ciao
There is a 'cracked' version here on xda where you don't have to mod build prop. Just saying
Here's my steps to get it work.
1. Uninstall and remove your facebook and messenger if you have already got it install. If you can't uninstall it, get titanium backup to remove it.
2. Extract Facebook Home from coolapk.com and side load it.
3. After installing the Home, launch it. It will redirect you to download Facebook from Play Store.
4. While downloading and installing Facebook, download messenger as well.
5. When everything is completed, launch Home again. It will ask you to login to Facebook. Once logon, wait for everything to load. You should see the top row where it ask if you allow the Home to replace your current launcher. Allow it.
6. Now you should be able to go to your messenger to popup your chat head. Tap and hold on any of your contact and select popup chat head.
Happy facebooking!

this doesn't work if you have a pre-installed facebook app though?!
Thanks for your work, but i dont like FB home..
Facebook Home is listed in Play Store, so you can install from there directly but in order to make XZ work with it, the above modifications still need to be done. Remember to screenshot or write down the original value before you made a changes.
Cheers.

I have sent an email to them, they replied me back but i think this is a automatic message. I could figure this out myself too...i am dissapointed though.
If an application won't respond can this damage the inside of the phone or damage the processor? I really need this app...
First my message and second the one replied back to me:
I have downloaded the latest version of Line on my new Sony Xperia Z1. Many times each day i get a crash. When opening the app it will freeze and turn into black. A pop up appears saying the application won't respond. Then i need to click OK to shut the application down. I tried reinstalling it and deleting caches but this didn't help.Can this please be fixed?

unfortunately, context service has stopped on my note 2. i cannot use my phone until connected to WIFI. kindly help me with this problem. I am new to rooting and everything. I dont know how to replace this context service. Please help.
I had a similar problem with my S5(G900V). I rename the ContextService.apk file to ContextService.apk.nothanks so it wouldn't run and that seemed to fix the issue.
You can read about Samsung's context service here: http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer...ll-collect-user-data-to-share-with-developers.
If you are rooted with Titanium Backup, you can safely freeze the context service... my phone has been running fine for a few months now without it.

I started getting the error message every time I opened "Messaging" & came to look for a solution. Turns out that freezing it to begin with is what was causing it. Unfroze it and Messaging now works fine again.
SOLUTION: Context service is a background task that collects data and send them to samsung. Just switch that under Settings -> Security and ... -> Diagnosis (not to shure, since my phone is German) off and the trobelmaking "Context service" will be shut down.
i know this thread is old but for those other ppl who will encounter this problem. just download another messaging app. it should be good.

Any help with MMS not working?

I don't want to blame the ROM or ask in its thread because this is happening on anything I put on it. I'm running. A cm12 tamasek 5.1 rom. Flashed the T-Mobile radio zip but I still cannot send or receive MMS without freezing in download. Also my keyboard keeps force closing.

It's a known issue on the rom, the OP and others have noted it and are working to fix it...in the interim, use Textra, Google Messenger, or any number of alternative apps while this gets squared away.

For me, I need to sit and watch/wait to see if my msgs send. Its starting to be like 1 in 3 msgs not being sent now. I use Hangouts. I constantly see the Msg not sent.
I'm stock, but rooted and cannot receive or send MMS. I use Hangouts. Tried switching to Messenger, didn't work. Reset APNs, didn't work. Tried the different APNs, didn't work. Getting very frustrated.

Reports about note8 freeze/crash when accessing contacts list? which model? anyone..

A few cellular and tech sites talking about this phone crash which needs force-reset to reboot phone.
Current news naming SM-N950U units from (AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon); unlocked European (SM-N950F); dual-SIM (SM-N950D) versions. Reasons suggesting its Google Contacts app conflicting alongside Samsung contacts app. No actual statement yet.
Anyone having same issues, which model number and chipset?
Is there a fix as well, thanks very much.

I've had the same issue after it came back from warranty repair, with new software.
I updated the Contact app somehow and it worked.
I've got other apps force closing and not opening.
Soundcloud, Google play music.
Probably others I haven't checke yet too.

Right.
So I uninstalled chrome.
Enabled & Updated the Android System Webview.
Reinstalled all the apps that were previously crashing/not loading.
Now the only lyrics app that is not working after a restart is the Facebook Messenger App.
So I'll just look for an alternative 3rd party app.
