[HELP] "insert SIM card to access network services" Error - Galaxy S5 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there. Around a week ago my S5 Mini suddenly can´t detect my SIM anymore. It just happened from one day to another without doing anything unusual.
"Insert Sim Card.
Insert SIM card to access network services", is the error I get. (Had Android 6.0.1 back then)
I feel like I´ve looked through everything Google offered.
I already did the following:
- Put my SIM into another Phone. It works there.
- Tried another SIM in my S5 Mini. Doesn´t work.
- Ordered a new SIM Card
- Updated to newest firmware.
- Factory reset
- Opened my phone and replaced the Sim/SD Card tray with a new one I bought online.
- Flashed 6.0.1 via Odin
- Flashed 4.4.2 twice
- Checked IMEI via *#06#, all fine
- and other stuff. (Airplane mode etc)
It´s really strange. The phone worked for over 2 years quite fine. Now a month after the warranty expires I experience this problem.
The device is not rooted. But in order to repair it I would root it.
Hope I can find some help here

[Q] Read imei without sim, but unknown with sim. CSC problem? or sim problem?

Hi,
The problem i experiencing is that when i boot the phone with sim card in it, the imei will come up as unknown. However, if boot with no sim, imei is then correct. phone calls, sms and data all working fine, but if i want apps that need imei, i need to reinstall firmware and install apps before the next reboot. i want to know if there is a problem with my sim (2 to 3 year old sim), the firmware or worst, my phone?
history:
I have recently got a imported SGS (Hong Hong ver) in Australia, using telstra sim.
There was problem (IMEI) at start with the build-in rom as i start the phone with sim in, but i didn't check if imei ok without sim. i then made a /efs backup and upgraded to jpe via kies, which the imei seems to be fine.
i when on flashing speedmod k12 (adb odin), no lagfix, just for the kernel, root and nand backup. didn't bother to check imei. I decided to test out darky's rom, did a factory reset and installed v8.0 slim (no wipe).
right now I'm thinking of flashing back to jpe via odin to see if problem still occur later today. or i should be testing something else?
Thanks
I got same problem, everythinig is ok before first exception reboot, then the phone can not dial , prompt " please insert sim card ". no imei with sim card , and got imei without sim card. I have changed serval sim card , but sam error.
Have you found the way to fix the problem ?

[Q] Galaxy S i9000 Sim Card Not Recognized

Hey guys,
I have a Galaxy S i9000 International Version, and I'm in New Zealand. I was running Darky's Rom 10.2 RE, and I tried updating to 10.2.2 Final. I did something stupid, I think I might have had my lagfix on, but I managed to bootloop. I reflashed to a Gingerbread ROM that I had lying around, but my SIM card was no longer recognized. I tried another SIM card, which also didn't work. My SIM card worked in another phone though.
I had a look around, and my IMEI number was still right, so I backed up my EFS, just in case I killed it. I then flashed a local stock Froyo rom, VNZJP3. Still no sim card recognized. So right now, I'm on a Stock Froyo rom, rooted, and I have no idea where to go.
did you flash the roms with sim card in the phone? That could have been the problem, that happened to me.
I took my phone back to shop where i got it and they replaced the sim card and problem fixed.
I did indeed. Other SIM cards don't work in the phone though and the SIM card works in other phones.
FWIW this happened to me (also on a Darkys ROM oddly enough)
After initial panic I simply reflashed the ROM and all was fine.
Silly question but have you enabled all the services (like use packet data etc)
I did reflash my rom, no dice. Also, my services are definitely enabled, but it doesn't actually recognized the SIM card.

Check that the into your phone is displaying is the same as what it is written on your phones box or something!

I never remove the sim card when flashing. Maybe " airplane " mode is ON.

[Q] Please Help - Galaxy Note suddenly show "Emergency Calls Only"

Quick background:
- I have an International version, sourced from Latin America
- I have rooted the phone but NOT custom ROM
- I have Straight Talk service
The phone was just working fine for almost 1 month, can receive call, SMS, etc. Just today, I shutdown the phone and took out the microSD card and SIM.
I copied some files to the microSD card using a reader and left the phone with the SIM and battery out for about 30 minutes.
I put the microSD, SIM and battery and rebooted the phone. Suddenly, I got Emergency Calls only!
I have tried to "fix" it but to no avail:
1). Looking at the 3 PIN in the SIM slot, they are all INTACT, nothing bend or broken or lopse
2). The SIM card works - tested it in another 2 different phone and can make calls, etc.
3). I did CWM recovery to a backup from 1 day ago (when the phone still works)
Anyone have this experiences or my phone just DEAD?
weird...
try do the hard reset (try not to restore anything yet), if still doesn't change anything... flash new radio (LC1)
I disassembled my Note using the instructions from here to check if any of the 6 (SIX) SIM Card connector is bent and it is NOT.
I am putting it back together now and will do factory reset (this is what you meant by "hard reset", right?). I will post back with updates/
PS: this is INDEED weird. The phone works OK, Wifi works, sound works, screen works, microSD card is readable, everything works EXCEPT the GSM connection! And I didn't even mess aroud with the custom ROM/kernel/radio!
did u test other sim card on that phone yet?

I don't have an extra SIM card. What I did was take out the Straight Talk (ST) SIM card from my Note and put it in another unlocked GSM phone (Nokia N73). The Nokia N73 works with the ST SIM.
I just did a "Factory Reset" and still the same thing.
Before I try the radio flash, what will this "software" do to the Note modem? I am just curious how it will fix it.
BTW, my Baseband vesion is "BKK1", and I don't see the radio for this baseband in the link you provided. Which one should I use?
PDA: N7000UBKK2
PHONE: N7000UBKK1
CSC: N7000UWHKK2
flashing the radio doesn't effect your rom... try them.
try to borrow your neighbor sim card first before flash new radio.

Which radio files I should use? The link you provided show multiple radios, but I don't see one for my phone:

Try to clean the Sim slot.
Yes, I tried cleaning the SIM slot. I have been very careful with my Note since day 1.
Someone mentioned that they have the same problem and was able to fix it by flashing STOCK ROM back.
I searched in the development section and could not find ROM for my phone (N7000UBKK1). Do you have any idea where I can get this from?
Well, looks like my phone is toast. I have tried the following:
1). Wipe data, cache, Dalvik and restore to CWR backup --> NO GO
2). Do a "factory reset" --> NO GO
3). Install stock firmware using Odin --> NO GO
NOTE: had to search for stock firmware on the Internet since it is NOT available in XDA
The only thing I haven't tried is flashing the modem firmware, but this is NOT available anywhere in XDA either.
The ST SIM card works because I tried this on two other GSM phone. Only the Note show "Emergency Call Only" message.
So now I have a $600 media player that I can't event sell. I guess serves me right for buying an International version with ZERO warranty and just happen that there is NO modem firmware for my phone.

LOL
Anyhow,
I found out the solution to this problem by accident, and there doesn`t appear to be a solution anywhere else on the internet. Turn off your phone and restart it. As soon as you are able to do so, open up setting, or any other app. When your phone goes into cool down mode, hold down the home button. A screen will come back asking you to select an app. Select whatever you opened prior to cool down mode (If you need to get into settings press the search button and search for settings after your out of CDM). You then need to do two things. Go to Running services (Settings>Applications>Running services), find detect battery service, touch it and stop it. To the best of my knowledge, it doesn`t do anything to your phone, other than activate cool down mode. Then go to manage applications (Settings>Applications>Manage applications) press your menu button and select filter> all applications. Find Battery protect, click on it, and select force stop. This allows your phone to get reception. You will have to do this every time your phone starts up, but it isn`t too much of a hassel for a truely excelent phone. The Cool down mode problem is definitly a software fault.

If you can get into download mode then flash using PC odin

If it pass you can flash a GB rom in your sdcard.
HELP!!
I have also had this same problem. My phone is STOCK I have not touched it. got the phone on last Monday working fine until the battery level ran right down yesterday, then I got message to "insert sim card!", ever since re-starting the phone I no longer can make calls!. I had no intension of rooting or messing with this phone and decided to wait until official ICS, but now what do I do?, is this a common problem?.
Tried previous instruction on this post, but unable to find any battery service running on the device.
Please help!!
I now also have this issue after updating to the latest firmware via Kies.
UPDATE: I got mine checked and it looks like the replacement unit I got had its SIM card broken. Dodgy eBay seller.
Just fyi, never insert MicroSim card adaptor in Galaxy Note. Mine works now after spending $100. Jeez
FYI, I tried all of the suggested solutions in this thread and I still have problem. So I returned the Note and got the AT&T version... At least now I got US Warranty
Same thing just happened to my phone. Rogers Galaxy note II.
Tried bunch of different SIM cards, none work.
Got the SIM reader app, phone reads SIM just fine. Data connection also works, but refuses to make voice calls "emergency only".
So pissed, wanna throw this phone against the wall.
Did anyone find a solid solution? Mine did this today, Stock never been rooted or anything! Any ideas?

Mi3W SIM not recognised - peculiar case

Hi All. I have quite a strange case of my SIM card not being recognised by my Xiaomi Mi3W.
Here's what happed.
1) Purchased phone off friend with stock MIUI - all working
2) Inserted my SIM with mobile carrier A (still with stock MIUI) - all working
3) Flashed Cyanogenmod 12.1 Cancro on phone - all working
4) 3 days later, changed mobile carrier to carrier B - not working
Original SIM card from carrier A was in phone when my account with carrier A was erased.
Since my number was ported from carrier A to carrier B, the phone has had issues recognising SIM cards.
5) SIM card from carrier B not working, and neither are other SIM cards
6) I have checked with carrier B and my phone is definitely compatible with their network.
7) My SIM card is working on all other phones
8) The weird bit is that at the shop of carrier B, the shop assistant SIM worked, but a brand new SIM didn't.
9) I have tried reflashing Cyanogenmod. - not working
10) I have updated Cyanogenmod. - not working
11) SIM tray looks clear of dust/obstacles - still not working
System details: imgur dot com/zwiD3pR <--(sorry new acc)
Not to sure where to go to next. I guess I can try back to MIUI or stock android, but I'd love to hear what you think.
Try doing a factory reset (assuming you haven't as mentioned in post)
If still not working, remove the sim, flash the stock miui back through fastboot, guides of which can be found in more detail in the miui forums
See if the sim works or not, if it does try rooting and installing recovery
Then flash the cyanogenmod and see if the issue still persists

[SOLVED] No SIM card inserted

Hi, I have S6500D and since it was quite slow, I decided to flash custom ROM. After some unsuccessful attempts I managed to get CM 11 working. But later I realized it's not detecting my SIM. It will find network operators, IMEI seems legit, but it won't connect. Also, if I inserted a SIM with pin lock, it actually asked me for pin, but after clicking OK it won't do anything. I've tried different network providers as well.. nothing.
Now, I have seen similar issue on some other Samsung device (I think) and the reason was that I had wrong baseband, which lead to the fact that the modem was not working at all. But with this, it just won't register the SIM card.
As last resort, I've flashed some stock ROM via Odin, but still the same. Any ideas what might be causing this?
Thank you for any advice.
//UPDATE: Well, I found the problem, only it's not on SW side, but hw one instead. As last resort, I have disassembled it, to find out that one of the SIM tray pins is broken.
