Like many others I was experiencing weird battery issues. It would jump 5% increments within seconds. I'd have 46% turn on a movie and 2 minutes later it would shut off. I tried every app fix in the play store as well as different kernels and ROMs. During this issue I broke the screen sent it in for repair and they said they'd fix the draw problem. All they did was Chang the data cable. I got it back and it was worse than before. Before I sent it in I ordered a replacement battery and decided as a last attempt to fix the problem I installed it. Believe it or not I'm now getting 8 hrs sot. I watch the battery meter expecting it to change but it stays on the same number for at least 15 minutes. Hers a screen shot of halfway through a cycle. Also when I go to sleep i wake up to find the battery meter is on the same number as when I went to sleep. Finally it seems all I needed was a new battery. Hope this helps others
Can't get the screenshot to load gets stuck on processing but these are the stats
50% used in 21h
Screen on time 4 hrs 6 minutes
Well congrats you got it fixed, too bad you had to spend your own money to buy a battery. You would think that would be covered under warranty?

Bought it on eBay lol. Even with the cost of the battery I'm still way under msrp. I know a lot of ppl have been frustrated with this tab and its horrible battery issues

I heard batteries are never covered. but I guess if you can prove it's defective from factory, they might change it.

I bought the tab online the battery I bought from batteryship.com for $35 comes with free toolkit which was awesome. They even have a walk through video on yt. B4 the most I'd get was 2.5 hrs sot now I'm getting over 8hrs I can't kill it videos gaming nothing. I know a lot of times batteries are just rebranded but its funny Samsung's OEM is crap and aftermarket is quality. IMO its definitely the battery.
Moto X 2014
Depending on the countries legislation, a manufacturer can't really decide a certain component isn't covered under warranty. If a device is warranted for 12months from defect then so are all of its components.

Samsung covers batteries but I think they know exactly what's causing this issue they just don't want to absorb the cost of changing out all these batteries.
Moto X 2014
The only thing that Samsung do not cover is loss of battery capacity - they do cover faulty batteries for 1 year.
How do you prove that the battery is faulty?
I have been getting erratic battery performance also, how do you prove that the battery is defective?
I was just having a look to price a battery for my T800, I found one on ebay uk at an amazing price with free shipping.

John.
I just bought a Tab S 10.5 yesterday as a replacement for my Nexus 10 who's battery is almost useless. Right now you simply can't find N10 batteries so depending on how long you plan to hold onto your Tab S, buying a replacement now may be a good investment even if it is only used to increase its resale value down the road.

Battery Experts say that you should not buy extra li-ion battery`s that you are not going to use, like a spare battery that you alternate with the one that came with the phone, camera, ect.
As as soon as an li-ion battery comes off the production line it will start to age if it is used or not, so you might buy a replacement battery, and put it into storage and 3-5 years later you come to put it in your tablet, but find that 50% of the battery`s capacity has been lost.
If you really abuse your battery and it dies within 6 months to an year it might be worth buying an replacement then, but only if it`s a really really good never to be repeated price, or you are in a country that you cannot get a warranty repair.
John.

How do you dial on a wifi tablet?
another battery problem
I have 2 tab s8.4 to play with.... mine was bronze my sister has the white one... both t705... on my tab i am not having any battery problem but with my sister At first it was having erratic battery issue... i opened it re attached the battery and problem fixed she had longer time to use the tab.. it could go on for more than 12 hrs.. now she used a power bank to charge her tab for only about 10-15 mins because she needed it and while we were eating out.. A day passed her tab is experiencing the similar erratic battery.. from 45% down to 20% then restared it 36%.. what seems to be the problem?? Should i reopen the tab?
The same issue is with my tab s 705. Battery goes to 4% from 100% in 25 mins. Shuts down & when restarted it show 74%, but again behaves the same way with different %. Mediaserver also runs a lot, i have not rooted tab s.

Try reattaching the battery and fully drain then fully charge it then ×#0228#... worked for me
I just returned my tablet for this same exact issue was playing Hearthstone on it after 35 days of having the device all of a sudden it was dropping from 100% to dead in 45 min. After it turned off I would turn it back on and it would be at 75% battery. It would then die in about 20-30 min again and when i turned it on it would be around 40% and so on and so on until it actually hit 0%.
Things I tried before I returned it:
- Full discharge and Charging while the device was on on a slow charge
- Full Discharge and slow charging while device off
- Battery Calibration
EDIT:Thing specific to my use.
- The device was ALWAYS charged with a 1amp anker backup battery/ charger over night
- The device was plugged in to a belkin quick charger 2amp most of the day while at work
- The device was always charged with a 2amp standard Samsung charger when at home and needed a cap off
I did not try the dial trick or opening the devices up because of how new it was. Can I ask why would using the ×#0228#... Do anything for the battery this seems to be a misreported battery capacity that is coming directly from the battery. I could see the reconnect doing something I just don't understand how ×#0228# could do anything for the issue being displayed.

This definitely seems to be a connection with battery, or calibration issue. I have no idea what that number does so... yeah. When you play a youtube video or some sort, does the battery drops still happen when just playing a video? The last thing I can think of is type that number in and see what happens. If the problem still persist, I'd suggest you take your tab back

Mine is already returned I am picking up the replacement in store today. I was with in my 45 day grace period wasn't going to go crazy with it. If I had seen the ×#0228# suggestion before returning it I would have done that to but I didn't. I hopped in this thread in the hopes of helping others who weren't as lucky as to be with in the grace period for return and repurchase brand new.
Not looking forward to re-customizing my tablet when I get it. No root(for warranty reasons i don't root till it expires......LIKE this one I am in now) = fun adding all the accounts back!
(cross posted to Nexus 5 subreddit)
So I've had my N5 since it was first available (ordered it the first day it was on Google Play). Over the last 6 months or so, I've had absolutely atrocious battery life, which I attributed to the upgrade to Android 5. Most recently, the battery life has been so bad that I could be at 98% and after 10 or 15 minutes of playing a game with GPU usage, the phone just shut down. After a reboot, the phone said my battery was at 1%. Then I'd keep the phone off, leave it for 20 or 30 minutes and when I turned it on again, it told me the battery was at 40%. Super strange.
Long story short, I decided that my battery had some real problems. So I took a chance and ordered what looked like an ok battery replacement off of Amazon (link below) as well as some tools from iFixit.com (link below) and decided I was going to try to install a new battery.
Well, it's been about a week since I did the battery replacement (link below to the YouTube video that was helpful) and my phone feels like a brand new device. I get a real, full-day use of the phone now, which for me is having it on and using maps, Gmail, texting, Chrome, Facebook, Play Music, and a few other key apps. Some games here and there. I also obviously have the phone off during the day when I don't need it. Before the battery replacement, my phone could easily be dead with a mix of screen on and off time in 2 hours or less. Now I'm getting 13-14 hours easily. Really amazing.
So I thought this was important enough to share with everyone. If you're in the same boat that I was, you might give this a shot too. Here's everything you need to do what I did:
BATTERY (ships from Chicago, NOT China! this was key!): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LD7S6YQ
iFIXIT TOOLS (if you don't already have these): https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Tools/Plastic-Opening-Tools/IF145-000-1
YOUTUBE TUTORIAL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlmKLfgUtBQ
Here's some additional info about my setup that may be helpful: ROM: Cataclysm latest stable build (built off 5.1) KERNEL: Elemental X 2.11. Also using Greenify to hibernate unnecessary background apps
Feel free to ask any other questions. I'm really pleased with how things have gone with this new battery (at least for this first week, which I know is not tons of time). For the moment, it feels like I have a brand new phone!
I was just starting to look for a replacement for my N5. This one doesn't get the greatest of reviews. I've wasted $13.50 on worse though. You still recommend it?

I do! Granted, I've had this for just about a week so it's not the best assessment of long term performance but the difference between the dead stock battery I had and this new one is night and day. I can go all day with this new one. I could barely go an hour with the old one before it shut off. Worth a shot -- and to your point it's only $13.50.
Great thread!
But I think my battery still no dead, can get 3.5 hours of SOT with like near to 2 hours gaming, and it can still standby for at most whole days with such usage
Now in stock 5.1 with elementalX kernel
ONLY fresh year battery to buy
I hope for a long battery manufacturing. Unfortunately, the design of batteries is that they are prone to aging. Even if they are in a store, they begin to lose capacitance over time. It is necessary to carefully examine what year battery you want to buy
Hmm, also considering replacing my battery...
One day my phone was going haywire and I took it apart (easier than I thought) replugged the battery cord and worked fine after that.
Probably anal but right when I unplugged my phone from the charger just now it went from 100% -> 99% instantly.. dun dun dun! lol I've had my phone since December 2013 so yeah you can tell how long I've had my phone for! haha
I ordered one from etradesupply that will arrive tomorrow. I hope it has a fairly recent manufacturing date and isn't some extra stock from 2013. I know I am paying more due to shipping but buying batteries on ebay makes me so nervous about fakes and the quality. At least it looks super easy to swap out.
Coincidentally, I came to the same conclusion yesterday and ordered a new battery. It appears to be something of a minefield and you can pay between £8 and £30 for what seems to be the same battery!
In the end, I went with a mid-price battery from a reputable seller and hopefully all will be well...quite excited for it to arrive
My new battery just arrived today! I'll get it fitted and update with how it is. I've got some screens of battery life at the moment. Hopefully it improves

My etradesupply battery arrived yesterday. It looks exactly like the stock battery and shipped from Texas. Manufacture date is September of 2014... Can't remember the exact date but it for sure september of 2014 which is older than I'd like but we'll see. It was at 47% charge which is about what it should be for storage.
I haven't had a chance to do a full cycle yet. I just charged it to 100% once so far. My screen on time is 2 hours 15 minutes with 34% battery left. I don't do anything special to conserve battery and use automatic brightness set to 50% or whatever stock is. That's a mix of games and browsing.
I am not sure if a new battery has to go through a full cycle to get calibrated or anything like that. I've read laptops should be drained completely once in awhile (not often) to recalibrate something with how the battery life is measured. I feel battery life is better than the battery it replaced so far which is what matters to me. If I can get 3+ hours SOT consistently I'll be happy. I was getting down to around 2 hours SOT on my old battery.
I've been contemplating getting a new battery for a while. I have a launch week device so my battery is sitting around 18 months old. I'm not getting terrible battery life but it's not as good as it was either. My usage patterns have changed since then and I also keep a lot of apps installed and have everything turned on as opposed to when I first had the device I had a script remove most everything from the phone and kept most things turned off. I'd say an average work day I'll see 2-2 1/2 hours screen on time with about 1 1/2-2hours bluetooth music playback. I'm looking for a charger around 6pm when I get home.

Just my luck. I get the one battery that doesn't charge ? have to wait on a replacement now
Every one knows batteries need to empty and fill a good few times to reach peak holding. I replaced mine with a genuine OEM, from Amazon, and it took a good few days then it made a huge difference longevity. Never buy cheap batteries. They are fake and can't be told from the real thing until you use it AND findout. Go by the reviews and who is selling

Where can I get the battery in India. My battery too draining like hell..
Can anyone suggest where I can get battery in India.. Online website is fine
I have my old battery replace at the official LG service center here in Manila and all i can say is that my 5's battery life is just like brand new. After a year with the old battery, sot max is just 1.5 hours, after the replacement, 4.5 hours.

LG Megamall
Hi,
Yesterday i buy new battery for my old lg g2, but i'm not sure is it original.
My New battery is non stepped like this http://tanstartrade.ca/images/LG%20BL-T7.jpg
Do you think that it could be authentic?
Thanks in advance for your help.
I just got replaced battery in service - they told me that they use original LG parts. When I checked it under the cover, it shows manufactured date 6th of January 2016. It is not allowed by antena strips and curved back cover to have thicker battery and thinner would have less capacity. You could probably try but I don't see any benefits in that.
EDIT: After few days of usage I had to get my battery replaced by the old one. May be bad luck with not properly working battery but more probably faik one (runs for 0-10 mins, weird force charging in no OS mode). When they showed me the "new" battery in service it is thinner than the original, does not have the stepped back and thus makes gap between back cover and battery itself - 2mm of medium hard press. So it was like yours - flat design - no additional stepped part. The service was not authorised service but looked legit and had plenty of good reviews. So it's my experience of flat lg battery replacement stated as original.
Be noticed that all of below information are not yet confirmed.
I discovered the difference between original and fake since searching trough forums and own experience. :victory:
Design od LG BL-T7 battery has not changed ever since. Still the only one with the stepped back side. Should look like the battery on right side of these pictures, otherwise it is nor factory replacement (aka fake):
http://i.imgur.com/2Yt8cvDh.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/hkVpceYh.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/XtEH5AQh.jpg
The main difference is in litle bulk under printing "BL-T7", arrows under the NOM icon and next right is noticeable differnce in T in that symbol, fonts differ and last letter of chineese behind the manufactured day,...
There is a believe that non-original batteries are not that bad at all, only they have poor wiring and connection port which often makes them behave unexpectedly.
How to calibrate battery after replacement or when needed here.
I replaced my battery recently, they told me that it's not the original one, its a Chinese made but works well. So far, no issue.
Where did you get that one?

Note that if you face any issue regarding charging since these batteries are years old, then feel free to contact the seller and you will get a replacement.
I bought that same battery. It had no glue residue and the year was rubbed off.
It looks genuine but I won't be able to tell until my replacement screen arrives and I can install them both at the same time.
I bought a 3950mah high capacity battery from aliexpress (so clearly not geniune but for the money I decided to give it a shot). it works fine, got my Screen on time from 2-3h to 5h or more. However, when charging, it will charge up to 95-99% and then, while still plugged in, go down to 83% and stay there. Then when I unplug it and start using it, it first goes back up to 90-95% before going back down like normal. Has anyone experienced something like this and/or know a way to fix it? I tried some battery calibration methods but no luck. Also, since the phone rarely reaches 100% (indicated) it doesnt always reset the screen on timer properly... this makes it difficult to keep accurate track of its performance. when it does work 5h seems to be the usual value.
That one sounds weird.
Definitely not normal.
Only solution is to buy another and test it or return the one you haveDefinitely and try another one

I have contacted the seller but so far they are not replying... I tried the Ampere and 3C Battery monitor the check the voltages and currents while charging. At first, I thought the phone showed the wrong percentage as it was not calibrated for the high capacity (so 80% was actually 120% relative to the standard battery capacity) but it showed that the phone was actually discharging once it reached full charge. Also, my assumption of it being 120% was wrong since the percentage probably comes from the cell voltage. So, next I checked the cell voltage using both ampere and 3C but the values were all over the place, jumping from 4.36 to 4.2 and back. this made no sense. The battery has a top voltage of 4.37 when fully charged so maybe the battery monitoring software of the phone is confused by this?
In any case I will wait for the seller to get back to me and if the problem becomes worse I will get a new battery to test out.
Thanks for the update.
Keep us posted on how it goes.

Hello guys, I am looking to buy new battery for my 2 and half years old g2. So here are my options:
1) Pollarcell - they says it's great battery, but still kinda expensive for a non-oem battery. It would cost me about 25e.
2) OEM LG battery - in LG official service, I have to check it they still got them, price was about 30e if I recall correctly.
3) Some random battery - I guess this is lottery.I can get good or I can get bad battery. There are many brands, and their price is from 8-9 to 15e.
OEM is best choice for sure, but I don't feel like investing 1/3 of phone price in battery, especially cause I don't know how long I will keep that phone. Dunno what to do
Edit: Did anyone tried this battery? It has quite high rating
https://m.aliexpress.com/s/item/32572840069.html#autostay
Beware of Pollarcell batteries I have read cases of burning
Bought my new battery at PhonTrading24 ,
Battery is class and from new production 12/2016 .
fake or original?
I also changed my battery after 3 years at LG service however I have some questions in my mind whether battery is fake or original one. Although new battery has same capacity like old one but it doesn not last like new one ( it lasts almost a day ) Pictures are attached new and old one. What do you think guys?

It looks like the original one and it might well be. But that also means it is not new, as the production of original batteries have stopped several years back. So what you have is probably an unused but ageing battery.
Batteries start degrading the moment they are produced, just that it degrades at a slower rate being unused (depending on temperature it's stored etc), compared to it being actively used everyday.

thanks a lot for the comment. I have been using this battery for a month now and the battery ends after completing one day. As and old production not bad as you said.
Dimensions of original battery BL-T7, taken off from LG G2 : 55.4mm x 66.4 mm x 5.6 mm (thickness in the middle), Weight: 45 G.
Hi there!
I've recently changed the battery on my P20 Pro. Unfortunately the only battery I could find was a non-original one.
It seemed to work ok at the beginning but then I realized that when the phone reaches the 50% mark, the battery drains to 4% in a few minutes. So it makes me wonder if the battery is faulty or if it even has the 4000mha needed.
Is it possible to solve this issue trough software or do I need to get a better battery?
If the issue is the battery it self, which one do you recommend to buy?
Thanks in advance.
No one?
I have the same problem , how did you get on ? A local phone shop will happily change the battery but I need to try and source one of sensible quality .....
But why to buy a replacement when you can change at Huawei service for good price. In my country it costs 99PLN which stands for like 20 bucks? And you get original battery + replacement service included on-site. You give a phone away for 2-3 hours and get with new battery.

Probably he even didn't charged it because he powered down the phone and send it to me, after it delivered to me i can not power on the phone. i plugged it to charger but it blinking red light. i charged it about 24 hours but nothing changed. the battery never got charged. it is always cold during the charge. He told me to before he were sent it to me phone was ok. so he refused to get it back. What can i do to turning it to life back before giving it to a service. should i buy a new battery and replace it ?
Hey, got a weird issue with my device.
Just 4 years old piece and already this has a dead battery!!! Cannot use it anymore basically... drains overnight on airplane mode from 75-80% to 0 in 7 hours!!! Last night I left it fully charged and shut down just to not starting anymore this morning because there is no power left, battery is EMPTY!!! Just barely started to charge!!! Something is wrong with this phone, really wrong!!!
I tried custom roms but the phone has the same behavior... so I came back to MIUI 12.5 just to be in the same position and to have the same conclusion: I HAVE A DEAD BATTERY!!!
I went back to my old Redmi Note 5 Pro with a custom rom... just like knew. How is this even possible??? An older device, with same amount of use have a better battery life than a newer device??? Different battery manufacturer, some production flaw in the battery production? Either way, conclusion is clear: NEW BATTERY... so, so disappointed by this situation...
Batteries get old and die , you have to change it , or maybe there is a short circuit on the motherboard , best option is to take it to a repair shop
I know.
But I found out that in fact my phone is only 2 years and 3 months old??? So, is this battery old enough to die? I guess there is something else here.
In the meantime, I already change the battery, sadly not with an original one... and so far so good, but only a few days passed. This battery however is acting strange! Does not charge more than 86%. Aida64 reports battery full at this precent... but I guess time will tell if I made a bad/ good choice.

encounter the same problem after 4 years of using redmi note 8 battery drains so fast unlike before and changing the battery to a new one it either does not fully charges it to 100 percent and it shutdown when my battery percent is around 20 or so percent but when I try to connect a charge and remove it, it will open up to that 20% or so percentage and continue to be used, I'm guessing the it need a battery calibration but I know really know what to follow on the internet.
