Hello everyone,
I have been receiving notifications for OTA updates for Epic ROM Stable however I can't seem to find any way to install these.
I am really confused as in the settings it says the ROM is up to date and no updates are available.
Anyone else have this issue or idea how to complete these.
It is a really good ROM and I must be missing something here.
Your help is greatly appreciated

Hi all,
I just did a hard re-set on my phone, and it looks like it has cured the problem that i was having.
But my question is...do i have to update the ROM again? Or will it still be the updated version? I have checked and it says 1.93.405.
Thats the latest one right?
Thanks!
no u don't have to update it again...
about your rom being latest, i don't think so.
Is it really not the latest one?
By latest i mean the official one, im still a bit scared to try the cooked stuff!
I'm with you on this one!
... yes, that is the latest one released officially from HTC. Other users in this forum may have newer versions, but like you, I'm keeping to the official version for now. I'm certainly not having any of the issues people are discussing here, which makes me wonder... would they still be having these issues had they not upgraded their device with an unofficial ROM?
A hard reset on a PPC is like using a restore CD\DVD on your desktop computer. It will place the initial software back erasing all data.
So there is no need to update. Also, the latest build or number does not mean it's the best. So if you like your device just leave it as it is.. ..meanwhile read about other users experience about different ROM's this way you stay on the save side
Thanks for the replies.
I am having no problems at all with it now, its running really well, so think i am just going to leave it as it is for the moment!
Hi there I know this might seem like a bit of a noob Question, but I am a little nervous to proceed without advise from someone that knows a little more about this than me. I downloaded the WM6 file from HTC Club a while back but have been busy and I have finally gotten around to trying the flash, but when I run the app, it says it is going to "upgrade" my Rom from Version:5.4.405.1 to version:4.17.405.2. Now that seems like a downgrade to me, but like I said, I don't know everything... I have obviously checked my version in my settings menu and it is defiantly WM5...
If anyone could Shed some light on this it would me greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!
Don't worry about the version numbers. They could just be the build of that particular ROM. If you have a WM5 build 787.23 and a WM6 build that you're upgrading to of 201.01 which is newer? Anyway, you can always reload the stock rom and start all over again if it isn't what you want. Cheers.
Thanx man, I thought it might be something like that, I will try the rom then, it is the official one from HTC, so it should work... if it does then I know I have a safe rom I can use if I flash a cooked rom and don't like it.
Thank you again.
So I got my phone last December and within a month, had it rooted - mainly to get rid of bloatware. I was using Cognition ROM at first, but then a guy at an ATT authorized retailer showed me a different rom that unlocked HSPA. The ROM that he gave me, which I later installed using ROM manager has the filename: KILLER23D+XXJPUDoc_V4.0_wipe. Has there been an update to this ROM? I love everything about it and am also wondering if there are any ROMs that are any better than this? I'm still pretty new at using the xda website and forums...
I like to tinker around, but am still afraid of bricking my phone. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys for all the hard work you all do.
p.s. I noticed my phone now thinks it is the Galaxy S GT-I9000... so would I download new ROMs for that phone or the Captivate?
Killer23d's out off date. it hasn't been updated since 11th December 2010. Their are many great 2.2 and 2.3 roms in the development section. Take a look around , you should be able to find one that is to your pleasing. Read the authors instructions and be sure you understand them before you flash anything
Be sure to read the Stickies they tell you about installing rom and other good stuff that you should know. And search around if you have any questions before you post, cause it might have been already answered.
And if you have a captivate you download captivate roms
good luck
I guess I really want to know which ROM is most like official 2.2 or 2.3? I definitely want to make sure I can still install unknown apps, and have the stock alarm clock on the phone because I use the alarm all the time and I don't want to have to download another one from the market. Do you have any preferences on ROMs that would do all this?
I also am a little confused on the ODIN stuff. Since I'm already rooted and using ROM Manager to flash ROMs, do I always need to flash ODIN before installing a new ROM? I read on here somewhere that the author metioned something about that, but how it was worded was a little confusing
I don't refer roms to people it is all personal choice. All roms can install off market apps
for roms in general* http:////forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884364
*2.3 roms need gb bootloaders
