Just wanting to see what mods/apps you all are using to get the best battery life and performance out of your s5 I'm currently using
Rom: DynamicKat 2.0
Greenify with boost on
DS battery saver custom profile
Lux auto brightness
I'm getting a benchmark of 37000
And I'll attatch a ss of my current battery, i normally go 5-6 hours before I'm below 20% but I'm over 4 now and still above 60%
How much screen on time are you getting? 4&1/2 hours on battery and already down to 64% doesn't seem very good. I'm getting much longer times than that. I'm on Stock Rom, rooted, running Greenify.
same here, i get pretty good life. on very low use day, about 2.2%/hour. on heavy usage about 3-4%/hour. 4%/hour = about 20 hours give or take (gotta figure that screen on time is going to make it less than the actual maximum %/hr)
some days im at about 40% when i get done with my day, others im at like 55%. but still its from about 9am to 12:30am, about 16 hours-ish.
before i bought my zerolemon 8500 battery. i tested stock battery and for every 1 of screen on time, that would be 25% of the battery on stock.is that good or bad?

I keep my screen on pretty much all day it's very rare that I go 30 minutes without it being on
Battery life
By the end of a work day, my battery is usually around 50-60%. On weekends I don't recharge it at all, including this last 3-day weekend. It was at 43% Monday night. I never turn it off, I check it often as I get a lot of email.
I am running Dynamic Kat, just upgraded to 3.0. I use no apps to extend battery life. I turn off my wifi when I go to bed, turn it back on when I get up. Note that I NEVER turn data on.
Hey guys, I've seen posts about people getting amazing battery life, both on stock and on a custom rom. I can never seem to get the same results, whatever I do. Sometimes, I'll toggle a setting and I'll see improvements for a day or two, then it goes back. Even more frustrating is there have been times when I turn the setting back to what it was and see improvements. It was like this for a while, but recently I've kinda gotten stuck with ~15 hours from 100% to 10% and nothing seems to change it. I have location on device only (its for weather, battery saving seems to be worse because Google services just syncs all the time and eats battery) and mobile data on. I've disabled pretty much every Verizon app and I just use moto display and the sleep thing. What else can I do to get better battery life short of a custom rom? The only reason I won't do a custom rom is because my parents won't let me spend $25 on sunshine, whether it's their money or mine.

I exactly get the same results as you. I'm on stock and disabled all verizon apps. A help could be really nice.
Keep in mind that battery life varies GREATLY upon usage. I can kill my battery in a matter of a few hours or have it last for nearly a week. Sync frequency, sleep time, connectivity, refresh settings, screen brightness, CPU usage, vibration on/off, number of wake locks...I can go on and on.
For example, I had my S4 last 5 days before it dropped to 80%, as you can imagine I didn't use it much. However, that same phone died in probably 3-4 hours on me also.
What matters most is if you have more battery life than your previous phone. Never compare your battery life to others.

I included some usage statistics in the ingur link. A lot of battery seems to be used by Android os and android system. Is there anything I can do to lower this?

What do you have your screen brightness set to? Your phone looks completely normal in terms of battery usage (Android/Google will always use a couple percentage).
Try turning off adaptive brightness and putting your device to the lowest brightness you can stand, that should add at least another hour or two depending on your current settings. 3 hours of SoT over a days usage with what looks like moderate use (YouTube, Messaging, etc.) isn't too bad for this phone.

Thanks for the advice! I guess I was expecting too much out of this phone Oh well, i'll just wait until i can get $25 in amazon or google play gift cards to pay for sunshine so i can get computerfreak's rom.
I am on CF's latest ROM and I'll say my battery life improved compared to stock, but not by much. I may get 6 hours SoT but my battery is down below 20% by the end of the day, and that is if I avoid playing games. Playing games all bets are off, the battery runs out quick.
There are some out there saying they get 8+ hours SoT and 48+ hours between charges. I call BS on that unless you are running minimum brightness and not doing any syncing or anything location based, and possibly even turning off cell data. Showing off with pictures of their battery stats and not telling the whole story.

If you unlock with Sunshine and install RR, you can use the custom kernel to tweak the CPU and GPU frequency to save battery life.
Additionally, there are other ways to save battery, like adjusting the pixel density and colors. (At least I think so?)
Greenify also helps. I think that is available for non-root as well.
Also, check your wake time. If always awake, could be the Google services running constantly trying to update.
There is an app to fix that, but I think it requires root.

also, my phone really likes to shut off before it reaches 0% battery. Is this normal?

I doubt its normal, buy I have noticed that mine does that too. It usually shuts down around 7% without warning.
I have read awesome stuff about this device's battery life and SOT, but I barely get 3.5 to 4 hours of SOT. Does anyone have a possible solution? This is ironic considering my previous crappy lenovo phone would give me 6-7 hours of SOT. Any battery saving kernel or ROM would also be appreciated, as I have unlocked bootloader and am running stock oos (latest open beta) rooted with magisk. Please advice, as if this is a hardware problem then I will return it ASAP.
Unfortunately, this thread has been made many times. No matter how specific your case is you have to analyze your usage.
But, if you need you can make yourself a quick checklist.
Whats apps are installed?
What do you do with your phone?
How many things do you sync?
How often do you game?
Do you have social media apps installed? Instagram, facebook, snapchat etc
What browser do you use?
And where did you read 7 hours SoT?
The reason being for people posting that they get 7-8 hours SoT is because those people use their phone all the time. If you look at their screenshots their idle time is non existent. With my phone that i've done a custom debloating and removed system apps that are worthless battery hogs, I get about 5 hours SoT. I leave my phone idle a lot. Idle still drains battery. If you use your phone on and off through the day, 5 hours SoT is really good. Thats what you should expect. If you get 3-4 hours SoT with normal usage patterns then you have an issue. Id say for every hour of idle time expect to lose perhaps 5 minutes of SoT. Your phone is technically a computer, its doing things constantly so it is never truly idle.
Go OOS 3.5.4. Greenify all apps Plus Play services, have xposed and install amplify to control wakelocks. Use L Speed, Keep data/wifi on only when using.
Why are you guys so obsessed with SoT? I usually get 4-5 hours with one day and half usage and at least 2 hours of Bluetooth + Spotify. As previously stated, the battery life varies on usage. Just take a look on possible wake locks if battery stats are weird. Stop focus on trying to beat the SoT world record and actually start to enjoy your phone as the beast it is
Just use Betterbatterystats and u will find the culprit.
Sent from my m1 note using Tapatalk
3.5 hours is below average so there is some app which is draining your battery but around 4.5 hours / 5.5 hours sot is normal and average battery life, if you see those people which post pics with over 8 hours of sot they are lying and are faking the results, trust me so dont bother with it..
Install betterybatterystats and see which app is draining ur battery and unistall it or use greenify on it
So taking a look at my screenshot after a long 14 hour work day I'm down to 35% yet with only 1.44hr of OST. I've seen numerous reports about 5/6/7 hours OST but the most I've gotten was 5 hours and change with the battery all the way down to no more than 10% and that's with battery saver automatically activated at 20%. I do not have force 90hz on anymore for the past week and I'm currently rooted in December patch stock kernel and minimal magisk modules installed. Running substratum of course and Viper. Nothing else really fancy going in with my setup. Been eyeing down better battery stats and nothing is hogging battery consumption in the background. Any thoughts on this would be very much appreciated. And yes I'm aware of the disappointing battery size but I believe I should still be seeing much better performance than this.
It's normal for a device with a small battery. Check if you have any wakelocks and start carying a portable charger
Do you have the P4 XL?
I'm on force 90 hz, mobile network all day, 90% brightness level, rooted with magisk, only thing I'm not using is motion sense (not available in my country and don't want to force it with any module yet) and get 6-7 hours SOT easily
You "Full charge lasts about" is still a decent 19 hour and 15 minutes so do you always end around 35% and under 2 hours SOT? Do you stream something with the screen off most the day?

I'm always checking for walelocks and I have nothing abnormal going in there and I even have a dozen apps battery restricted
FFS, don't believe the stupid train on SOT being a remotely valid indicator of a device's battery life. your SOT will never match the next person's nor will it be a reliable indicator that you'll get that amount the next day. you should be measuring your battery drain rate and determining what's causing your battery to get eaten up through the day.
I do agree that SoT is not a good indicator. For starters, a device with a screen at 100% brightness doing the same workload as a device with a screen at 50% brightness will have wildly different SoT. The SoT is only perhaps relevant to you individually, and only after a long time of use when enough data was gathered for you to know the actual average SoT.
I mean my full charge lasts about 16 hours, but yet some days get 7 hours sot and others 3, it's all in how you use it. I'm still stock and haven't rooted.
I'm using xiaomi.eu 12.0.5 QFACXNM and the battery drain is brutal: 11% battery drain at night in 9 hours without touching the phone. No airplane mode, but wifi and data off.
I restricted almost all apps at background and problem is not solved. I'm doing 3h SOT or even less at day.
So... what's the rom with the BEST battery and the best SOT? I don't mind the other features, if it's AOSP I appreciate if I can install ANX camera and GCAM (both).
Thanks.

I had very good battery results with PixelExperience - around total 40h with 3h screen on time (yeah not heavy usage). Right now I'm trying PA Q5

3h SOT is not a good result, don't you think? I was expecting something like 5h or 6h of SOT with a normal use... I know with 3300mah battery it's complicated but I don't use my phone with heavy apps, I don't play, only use instagram, photos, twitter, whatsapp/telegram and stuff like that...
I recommend PA.

for a 40h+ total with bluetooth location and wifi always on I'd say it's a very good result
I'll check both. I fully charged my phone this morning. 7 hours later, without any use (check my instagram and twitter couple of times and responding some whatsapps), it dropped 10% (to 90%).. At least six and a half hours were in deep sleep.
I think this isn't normal.
That also can be a signal for a dying battery as well. Approx. 1 % per hour in combined usage is a good average for AOSP ROMs. At moderate use, similar to your profile, the battery here last for four days with 4 h SoT. 8 h SoT over two days is possible but not what I reach often. Mi9 is running PAQ5.
Cheers

I was thinking the same. At this hour, less than 12h after the last full charge, and with no use at all cause I'm currently working at home, so I use computer (like I said, watch a couple of times instagram, reply to a few whatsapps and check twitter a little) battery is at 80%, with 30 minutes of SOT. Something is wrong, and maybe you're right about battery.
I'll try PAQ5 and crdroid with quantic kernel... despite I like MIUI, but xiaomi.eu is an extreme battery-draining rom...
My Mi 9 is running several AOSP ROMs since more than one year. Since then I've simply no idea about Miui and its battery consumption. Tbh I'm not too much interested in battery life at all. I'm not an outdoor guy having access to a power plug only once in a while. I'm living in an area where power plugs are widely available. So running out of power is not a major threat to me.

I usually have a charger near, but it happened to me that, in a long session of photos, or in a heavy use outside my home or my work, battery dies more sooner than later... and that sucks.
For example, watching forums or instagram, it consume 1% each 5-7 min, and more of that, instagram and web loading are not so fluent as it should be, so... I'm gonna try aosp for a while.
Crdroid, Paranoid and Iodé OS seem the best choices, I'll give a try to the best battery-saver rom...
Changing ROM only might not solve your battery problem, if the problem lies elsewhere. I use the same ROM and I could get 4-6 hours SoT per charge, over a day of use or so. This is a 1 year old device so battery is no longer 100%. If yours is newer but you get worse result than mine, then it's something in your configuration, not the ROM.
Sure, in these cases I usually carry a power bank with me. Actually I can't recall when last time my phone totally went off power.
For the AOSP ROMs I can't tell about battery behaviour. Things like SafetyNet, banking app and G-Pay are so much more important to me that I never considered changing the ROM since PAQ5 does simply everything I need.
Cheers

this phone has some hardware issue with the battery, some chip is not properly registering/measuring. You have to "reset".
I have more than 8h screen on time 0~100, and I have the phone 15 months.

I was thinking the same, battery duration is ridiculous. Last night, 1% battery per- 5-6-7 mins using kiwi browser/instagram. And 10% battery out last night with wifi and data deactivated. Now I have 56% battery with very few use of the phone. Charged it 24h ago.

Hello im using miui 11.0.6 with a new battery and i get 4:14 on SoT, what version of miui do you use?
I on my xiaomi mi9 I installed the battery increased by 4000mha, I changed the kernel values with a file manager by making the phone read the same battery capacity and I do six hours of display on! To do this you must have root permissions and buy 4000mha battery ...
the path to take with franco kernel manager is:
/sys/class/power_supply/bms/charge_full"
/sys/class/power_supply/battery/charge_ful
Through a file manager, that is the path to follow to edit the file
