Hello to the community that I would like to thank for having existed for so many years!
*
I explain my problem,
*
I buy on Cdiscount a Note 5 N920P that I dreamed so long ago, at the reception everything was perfect. Android 5.1.1 compatible 4G saw that when I put my sim card I had the logo "4G" displayed.
*
Old owner of a note 3, I wanted to change the rom on my note 5 by a custom rom to have root access and much more ...
*
I have downloaded TWRP for my note 5 found on various forums, I have download a rom N920p (sprint) for my note 5 under Android 6.0.1
*
I had no network, so I flashed the version of a modem above the one I had basic, and there the network was finally displayed.
*
But only the H + logo was displayed. Then there everything started, csc, modem, I spent 5 days more than 10 hours on a lot of forum to recover my 4G and I realized that I should never have done all these manipulations ...
*
I wanted to reflash the original rom "OI6" out via odin was a failure every time, even after a full wipe ...
*
Today I am blocked on a modem which I think blocks the 20 or different band for the 4G (at least I think it comes from there) I come to ask you for a helping hand, I come to you because you had Always been at the top when it came to answer seriously.
*
My main question would be: Can I get the modem compatible with the 4G in france or the original rom that there was on my note 5 upon receipt of it?
*
I do not know what to do I am in total despair ... Thank you for your future answer!
*
Best regards, Zebuloup (PS : sorry for google traductor im french)

So long as you are not going to an older bootloader Samsung smart switch should help you. If smart switch says your phone is not compatible use this short guide. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65031919&postcount=270
I think the P version is a carrier version so it may not work, I do not know for sure though.

Listen to me carefully, you were already cheated by your shop keeper / sales person... There is no such thing that if you update your phone software you will lose 4G support or blah blah... its android not IOS... what happened actually is that Sprint version of our phone is not compatible with our LTE networks it only works on band 20 which is available in US but in ordr to sale phone, shopkeepers manipulates software and falsely shows 3G to 4G network icon.. it is done through changing some xml files (Some developer can explain well) ... but in reality your device was not 4G supported in first place.... now you cant go back and you are stuck on 3G network only.... if you want 4G , your only option is to sale this phone and buy F or I model of note 5...

Hello and thank you for your answer,
Sure enough I had the 4G before on my phone on the original rom when I received it. In town I had a test of flow, and I was about 70 in mega download, there I hardly surpass the 12 mega.
I think the tapes were well unlocked for France, and that it was not a fake icon.
I found the way to deliver a rom stock on my phone, I will send it in repair and basta!
Thank you for your help !

Hay, Guys This is @talvigi back with a simple but specific to my region question, and it is most vital for many guys like me because all the dumped devices come directly here.
Sorry guys if someone hurted but truly, now-a-days nobody around me buys a new phone because most of the flagship devices of 2013 and 14 are now available in cheap prices, so who pays a lot for a new phone when he/she knows the thing is going to be 50% cheaper within months if not weeks.
My problem is that i have bought an AT&T Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900A (now running Lollipop N900AUCUEOC2 stock, and not rooted i have updated it vide SDcard update from recovery)
As far as we now have Warid 4G LTE Services available in our area and many of my friends are using them on their Gfive LTE 2 and LTE 3 devices, so my concern builds up as i have a better device compared to GFive's LTE 2/3. But i have done all my best to connect to LTE all in vain.
i have tried the method which i saw in the forum and it worked for someone's AT&T Galaxy S4 *#*#0011# but as it was made specifically for Galaxy S4 but i did try it with no result, and i also tried the *#2263# selected LTE Band Preference as LTEB3 (because Warid is on 1800 FDD Band 3) and also selected [7]LTE/GSM Mode Only(*). But still no luck on my note 3.
And in the last the *#*#4636#*#* which brought me to an screen where i was able to see the "Device Info" which shows us i thing all the information currently available in the device and gives us the of RUN PING TEST and there is a thing says :"Set preferred Network type: LTE/GSM auto (PRL)
TURN OFF RADIO and many others.
So guys any one interested helping poor people in the world
And i'm sorry for my poor English and always incomplete questions too,
Still waiting for someone to response my little big question.
My friend's Galaxy S4 i337 also does int Support the Warid 4 G LTE
.
AT&T Galaxy Note 3 @N900A has the band 3 (1800) band
I have checked it by entering to service mode *#2263#. Now the point of talk is that, why the hell it doesn't connect to Warid LTE which is running on band 3, whether this band is banned by the AT&T or does it need some special tweaking to get working on that band my post has some screen shots from service mode. All the devs and gurus are requested to at least comment on it bcz your words are leaders for us guys.

Check if the IMEI on the phone (in About Device, or using *#06#) matches the IMEI on the back of the phone behind the battery. I had an S3 that had this problem, would only work on 2G/GSM, never on LTE, and it was because of a corrupt EFS partition (reflected by incorrect IMEI).
If this is the case, there are ways to set it right, but I believe it is illegal to discuss them here. All I can say is that everything you need to do it is available on these forums. Good luck!
Well the iemi matches and my phone is not a refurbished one so that isn't the case

Your model doesnt support 1800 mhz on band 3.. Lte.. The hardware of modem is not supported, only 9005 model has that band.
SO I picked up a 256GB emperor edition from Korea. It is Confirmed to have every single LTE band that AT&T uses. I put my sim in and only get 3G not 4G. Called at&t and they said they need to re-appropriate the IMEI for the USA as it comes up as a 2g/3g phone because the SKoren SK telecom IMEI assigned to the phone is different in the USA. IS that True? Anyone know how and if I can get the Phone to work on 4G LTE on at&t or do I have to hope they get it right? I paid $1400 for this phone I don't want to use a 64GB version I have been waiting to have 500+ GB on a phone for so long.. Any TIps? Hints? Recommendations?
EDIT: for those reading this thread for the first time. As of 10/9/17 I was able to get good LTE speeds as well as WIFI calling and Video Calling on my N950N note 8 Korean Exynos model. In a nutshell here is what I did to make it work.
Flash nemesis n950F rom to my phone.
Flash AT&T CSC to the phone using the CSC tool and you do have to modify one line (user RED FLAME) has this in the CSC thread.
Call at&t and give them the IMEI of a VOLTE wifi calling/video calling capable cellphone (I used my wifes S8+ - and yes you can DOUBLE USE IMEI on the same account)
I also did one other thing - Check page 14 for that information.
I just wanted to give a synopsis of this thread so new N950N and at&t owners don't feel like they are wasting their time searching XDA and google. I only wish other people did this when their problem is solved so people can easily see they are not in the wrong place and don't have to read tons of pages of stuff.

Hi.
There is a thread somewhere here they were talking about similar problems.
What you where told is essentially correct. Though they also said that they needed a new sim card, too.
Hope this helps. Still waiting for my Note 8.
Too bad those devices do not have the CDMA bands...
I have the same model and same problem but with softbank, though softbank has been less helpful.. i read someone flashing a different csc (if its the right one) will "unblock" the phone? Would any exymos model csc work?
My roaming menu is also greyed out... not sure if that is related.
I think you just need to give them the IMEI and have them set it up for LTE in their system, since they don't by default allow LTE on bring your own devices.
Did you change the apn? I have the same phone on tmobile and i changed the apn to the tmobile apn and i have no problems with the phone.

Just a quick comment - I think you mis-spoke. ATT Does allow LTE on Bring your own devices. I have been using G955F variants for the last 4 years and never had to do anything other than put the SIM card in for it to work. HOwever, LTE Enhanced Services are not available on Bring your own Devices. This includes HD Calling, Wifi Calling and Video Calling. BUT, LTE will work.
I don't know anything about the Korean Model so I hope the OP is able to get things straightened out - but other variants have always worked on ATT - including TMOBILE PHONES and international variants as well.

That's probably what I meant. I haven't been an AT&T customer for many years, and have been with T-mobile for all my smart phone career, and they don't require any special setup on their end for VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, etc as I can confirm with my Korean Note 8. After somewhat jankily switching CSCs with a modified script that was originally made for S8 and 8+ phones I definitely have VoLTE and probably have Wi-Fi calling working without any communication to T-mobile.
Waiting on at&t now.. to see what happens.. SPEC for SPEC this phone is exactly the same as an at&t phone. It has every single band, not missing a single one. If you put the specs side by side there is ZERO difference. I changed the APN - there are 3 at&t choices. One gives me 3G the other 2 do not work. SO waiting on at&t to re-appropriate the IMEI to register as a note 8 on their network. I had not idea it was going to be this much of a pain in the arse. I was told by a few sellers, pop in your sim and your good to go. I did need a new sim since my note 4 sim did not fit in the note 8, so They gave me a new sim. I put the sim (using an adapter) back into my Note 4 until they change over the IMEI and the new sim works just fine on the note 4 - all my video calling, wifi calling and tethering work fine. So hoping I do not need to return this phone and use a 64GB model. I wish samsung would just release the 256 here on at&t like apple is doing with the iphone X. I would pay $1200 for it no problem. (and since the iphone X is $1149 with 256gb - I am sure samsung would do $999 or $1099 to undercut apple. But Samsung is going to epic fail and never give the US customers what they want.
Hi there, I would also like to have the Emperor's edition, and use it in Canada (Bell) and USA (T-Mobile or AT&T). Is N950N the correct model number for this edition? Does it come with dual sim? Thanks! So far I found an Ebay seller from Hong Kong with F950FD which looks to be 256GB Duos - I'm wondering what the difference is with N950N and whether I will have an issue with region lock?
Thanks for any comments...

No, I was using it on a HTC10 and previously on a Note 4...
Totally DIsappointed... No way I am keeping this $1300 phone for how crappy it is on At&T.
They Finally Updated the IMEI so that is shows up as a next gen smartphone on at&t network and I get an LTE logo. I set my own ACCESS POINT as well as used all 3 that showed up automatically. ATT Phone, ATT NEXTGENPHONE and ATT UTDATA (Nextgen) + I did what was recommended on att.com for bringing over a phone that might not get the access point which was the same settings as ATT Phone - all of them gave me LTE on my bar and showed AT&T as the network. Every single LTE Band on this phone is the same as the official ATT note 8. Yet on my speed test I couldn't get better than 4MB/s down and 1.56MB/s up, my note 4 (pop the sim card back in there) even with 1 Bar on my phone I get 42MB/s download and like 10MB/s Upload.
IT is too late to call at&t tonight but I am extremely disappointed. I have wanted a phone with 256GB of memory for like 2 years now, and to have MicroSD expansion for just MUSIC (NOTHING ELSE).
If At&t can't get this note 8 to perform exactly like a at&t version would, then I either going back to my Note 4 or Perhaps the US Samsung unlocked version (which I already have but is not opened as I hoped to sell it and make a few hundred on it to make up for the $1300 I spent on this Emperor Edition.
Any advice?
Anyone want to buy it.. I paid $1299.99 Shipped from NK. Instead of returning it - if anyone wants to buy it, id do the same thing $1299.99 shipped anywhere in US or Canada. Perhaps it will work better on another network...

tl;dr - Under Settings->Connections->More Settings there's an option titled Reset Network Settings and, i had to use that on my Korean, Note Fan Edition to get LTE working.
more detail on how i got VoLTE and HD Voice working.... i grabbed an ATT (Snapdragon) S8+ CSC and manually applied to the FE. To get HDVoice and VoLTE working, i called ATT and told them i was going to use my (no-longer used/retired) ATT Samsung S7Active with my cell number. this step was a must to get VoLTE working. once they associated S7Active IMEI with my cell number, i rebooted the Note FE and VoLTE was active. i occasionally receive calls and the HD Voice icon appears on the dialer screen; i assume the other person is calling me via Wifi when i see the icon. Video calling and Wifi calling haven't worked for me on none of my international devices. once i got my UK note 8, i applied the same CSC content (after rooting my device), i inserted the same ATT sim used in the Note FE, reset network settings and VoLTE and HD Voice (when receiving calls) still works.
I don't know about the Korean model, but here is how you get Volte on ATT on the Note 8 F model. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73851525&postcount=308 After you slightly modify the zip and flash this, you must call ATT and give the friendly customer service person the IMEI of a phone purchased from ATT directly that is roughly equivalent and had Volte and wifi calling features. I used an old S7. ATT will NOT accept an IMEI of any phone not sold by ATT. Once they put it into their system, reboot your Note 8 and whala - wifi calling and Volte work perfectly.

It should be fine if the basebands match.
Find the baseband of the network you want to use, (so for 3g I need baseband 2100 and for 4g I need 900)
In the link below you can then compare it to your model (I will assume its the same as the U version despite the KT)
If the baseband matches for 3g you will only get 3g or visa versa. Hopefully they will match for both 3 and 4g.

On paper, this phone has all the necessary bands to work on TMobile USA but a test at one of their stores with an active SIM didn't have good results. Although the phone displayed LTE, outgoing calls took between 40 and 60 seconds to initiate dialing out, and SMS texts would not go out at all (or if they went out, they didn't arrive at destination phone).
I travel frequently to the UK so I was just hoping that this phone would work out of the box with a UK SIM with no need for mods....

You would need to contact T-Mobile or visit their retail branch and have them add your devices IMEI# on their network. For some strange reason some networks require that...
It should work in the UK no problem. Go-to thr Samsung website and it shows all the bands for your specific model (950N) and cross reference it with the ones used in the UK. I think you'll find it's all there. No need to over think it.

I went across the street to EE and tried one of their sims, strong 3G but nothing better. As I was going to Cardiff for a few days, I used the Microsoft 950XL that I have which receives 4G and better (often displays 4G+).
Not sure what the next step is...
Regarding updates, the last one I got installed Oreo 8.0.0 and Samsung Experience 9.0 on May 24, 2018. Last security patch date is April 1, 2018.

Have you tried the reset network with the Sim in now you are in the UK? That sounds like what happened to me, would only get 3g until I would reset the network with the Sim in. I once tried to put in another Sim and when I put my EE Sim back in I had to reset the network again. I'm even in Germany now for the past week and I get LTE here as well.
Ok thanks, we are on the same security patch. But I would think that we would get updates that are newer than that. On Reddit people are already talking about getting thier July updates, while we are still on the April update.
Hello Guys who knows how to get T-mobile CSC on N960F UK.

There will be a flashable mod shortly.
I have already heard someone speaking of it.
With that said, you must know that no matter what you do to the phone it is not possible at this point to get proper carrier aggregation in the USA.
This means that it will work but you will always get slower downloads and sometimes data drops when compared to a USA based SD variant.
We extensively spent months trying to figure this out with the Note 8 and then the S9.
Just giving you a heads up in case that mattered to you.
In case you wanted to test this. Try using any semi recent USA based phone like a N920T or a N950U etc and compare the speeds in the same spot.
You will see what I mean.

Ya I was there with you when I got the Note 8 and then the S9 but....
I also would rather have the full speed and optimized net, especially because I use it for work and other things.
What do you mean "Mod my internet".
To me the addition of "package disabler" made not having root hurt a little less.

I was able to Enable Wi-Fi Tethering on my HTC One M9 ( /system/customize/ACC) and i was able to tether about 20Gb in my car without getting the Internet slow down.
Hi all,
It's been long time since I posted anything here so excuse me if this post should go to another section (if needed feel free to move it).
I just received my Galaxy s10 9730 Snpadragon (Chinese Version) and all is good except that my phone doesn't get LTE (4G is max) with my carrier (Fido Canada, Rogers is probably the same). I've done some research and what I could understand the phone is missing Band 17 (700 MHz) - correct me if I am wrong, which doesn't get me LTE.
Is there any way to add the missing band to my phone? I wasn't planning rooting the phone and I would prefer not to do it if I don't have to but if I have to I guess I'll have to do it as it's very stupid to pay for the phone $1,200 CDN and have 4G max.
Please help by posting here (or refer me to) detailed instructions, I can follow the instruction really well as I did install different ROMs on my Galaxy S5 but I am not so great with terminology.
Thank you all of you willing to help!

4G=LTE. There is a different status bar indication in different regions.
You can try to change FW to Hong Kong (TGY), it's closer to european (have full Google services, more localizations and bands...
Thanks for reply!
I don't think it's only status bar indicator as when I tested speed on 4G it gave me 35Mbps but I remember with my old phone I was going over 50Mbps.
I can still try what you said but I didn't understand how would I change FW (assuming it's firmware).
Do I have to reload the whole phone?
Do you think applying update in Canada would pull proper files/settings/updates?
Thank you
I'm using a SM-G9730 (rooted) in Canada.
Prior to root, i was applying updates without any issues. I wouldn't touch your firmware, keep it as it is and apply updates as pushed out through the samsung update near the bottom of your settings.
If you're curious about what bands are in your area, i'm sure there's resources to find it. I'm on Bell and have no issues on 4G, though i mainly use 3g/H+ (battery savings/use less data/range).
