i have some questions abut mi 5 - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

hi every one
i want to buy a new smart phone
i have some questions abut mi 5
1)so i watch youtube video its was so bad.... is this phone bending?
2)price in my country is 300 for mi5 and 325 for mi5 s .... witch one is better?
3)best antutu benchmark on mi5 and mi5s?
thank

1) if your trying to break the phone it doesn't hold up very well. Otherwise don't worry, it isn't gonna break in normal use.
2/3) mi5s has Snapdragon 821 which is faster (so better antutu) but has aluminum body which for me doesn't look that good. I got my mi5 for 200 euros on banggood and I'm really happy with it.
Mi5 does have a bigger user base (according to lineage analytics) that might be a deal breaker.

"Better experience" is a broad and subjective term, there would never be any definitive answer for that. However, you should normally get 'yes' in OP3 forum and 'no' here (some abnormal people say 'yes' here, wonder why they keep reading mi5 forum if they don't like it).
Im deciding too but prefer the size of the Mi5 and the fact its £100 cheaper than the OP3 if you get a 32GB version.
If you already have Mi 5, I don't think it's worth buying OP3 since the hardware is mostly the same.
Things that differentiate OP3 from Mi 5:
- Oxygen OS: If you love stock Android, this is a big plus since Oxygen OS is basically stock Android with some new features. You also get ambient display and gestures while display is off.
- 5.5'' AMOLED Screen: Bigger display (bigger phone size). Better contrast. Saves battery when displaying dark colors. More saturated but you can use SRGB mode.
- Metal unibody: If you prefer metal unibodies, OP3 is a plus. Mi 5 I believe is using glass/ceramic with a metal frame.
- RAM: OP3 comes with 6GB but it's overkill. Mi 5 is perfectly fine with 3/4 GB of RAM. Heck even my gaming PC has "only" 8 GB of RAM.
- Storage: OP3 comes only with 64 GB while Mi 5 has 32/64/128 GB options. Mi 5's 64 GB option is also cheaper than OP3 64 GB.
Camera is basically the same on both phones. They have the same sensor (IMX298), OIS, 16 MP and f/2.0 lenses.
Both have 3000 mAh batteries. OP3 is Li-Ion and Mi 5 is Li-Po.
If you are an audiophile though, I've read that Mi 5 uses Qualcomm's Aqstic (DAC, amp + codec) which is the same setup as HTC 10 and will give you much better sound quality than OP3, since OP3 doesn't have that (I can't find any reference that it has Aqstic) although it's rocking the same SoC (Snapdragon 820).

Mi5 is Best Quality Phone
yes it is worth it. go for 1+3.
If you like larger displays, or oversaturated AMOLEDs, yeah sure the OnePlus 3 will improve your experience. Otherwise you could just unlock and flash your Mi 5.
The difference I reckon would be that unlocking OnePlus phones is a very easy process and do not void any warranties.
yes I think it's worth it. Go for it
I think in my opinion,MI5 have better battery life. If you want more ram,one plus three.

That's what is called having a perspective from all POV.
Xiaomi is notorious in releasing bug-free kernel sources. MIUI was the best in its fifth version (my opinion) and then onward, every iterations has been a crappy ride. And without a proper source code release - the custom ROMs have tough time to work flawlessly. Xiaomi has always been non-cooperative with the Dev community. And have you ever visited Xiaomi forum? I mean... come on!! Whose fertile idea was it to force you to post a "comment" before you can download something (almost all of the time) !!!
OnePlus 3 is a Dev friendly device. Can you give instance of one more company, who releases the source code even before the official release of the device itself?? (Before someone pounds in - yes, I know it was all a part of the large publicity stunts - then again we the users are benefited at the end). I only wish OnePlus 3 came out with a QuadHD IPS-LCD. Personally, I despise Amoled panels.

I'm a diamond member there. That "feature" is poster intention, normal ROM and important tools downloads don't need it. Posters hide download links in their post to gain reputation, to become higher level members as well. It's a system that makes MIUI forum looks active, despite most comments are only "thanks" or "great".
The MI 5 is better than the OP3 only in one aspect : its smaller size. Otherwise, the OP3 is better about :
- sturdiness (remember the iPhone 6 bendgate ? the MI 5 is much worse)
- android development (just compare their xda forums)
- LTE frequencies
Since you are from Croatia, MI 5 does not support LTE band 20 (800MHz), I think that would be the deal breaker.

You see - that was my point precisely! Why would you even 'allow' to encourage the poster(s) to demonstrate a 'reputation-gaining-mechanism' ?!?
And no, that never makes any forum active - all it makes is to create a lot of 'off-the-track' distracting post(s) in the middle of the main discussion thread.
And I am a diamond member too there (with the same name and icon).
Returning back to the main question - OP3 is an unparalleled bargain in the same price segment - grab it with all your might. By the way, I am also keeping an eye on the newly released Mi5S Plus which comes with quite attractive attributes. I doubt what will its price be?
mi5 is lighter, fits well to normal user pockets
oneplus3 is well developed contract to mi5, because xiaomi did not release the kernel source completely.

Guys should i buy mi5 or spend £100 more and get oneplus 3? how much different is the android developing between the two? What I mean is, if oneplus has a score of 10/10 for android developing then what will the mi5 get?

Once upon a time 1 guy had 2 choose between waking up the beauty or escape 4 freedom

Hi everybody,
Sorry for the strange thread title, it was just a joke...
I'm struggling to get a new phone and i need your opinion...
I've just sold my oneplus 6T. I'll list my requirements and some phone
I found and if you like you could give me some suggestions...
I use the phone mainly to internet, mail, and socials, but very often
I travel for my job spending many hours in the airport and i don't want
A tablet, so i need a big screen, at least 6.4 but 6.6 is better, jack audio 3.5mm,
Possibly a sd card slot but i can leave it.
A good multimedia specs (screen refresh rate, audio dts) to see movies on netflix, amazon video and so on.
A good camera, possibly two, with wide angle.
Very big battery.
And i'd like to get a snapdragon 855 to play games and emulators.
Googling i found:
Asus zenfone 6z wonderful camera, all around features smartphone but lcd screen and no availability
Mi 9 T Pro (Redmi K20 Pro), but i need to wait the international version because the Asian one (K20 pro) misses band 20, and in my country (Italy) is wide used.
Nubia red magic 3 beautiful phone very customizable, but i'm not sure about single camera quality, and it misses NFC.
Huawei Mate 20 X has evrything i need more a huge 7.2" display, but works with emui and kirin cpu....
I would stay away from oneplus because they are not anymore the killer they were...Last thing, my budget is around € 500...
Thanks everybody for your help! Ciao.

Redmi K20 Pro Or Oneplus 7 ?

Hi everyone,
I want to buy a smartphone - but stuck between Op 7 or K20 pro ? Can't make my mind - which one should I buy ?
Any suggestion/ advice will be highly appreciated.
They are pretty similar. Run on the same platform, CPU, GPU. Both AMOLED, same resolution.
The K20pro / 9Tpro has an audio jack, OP7 does not.
OP7 has stereo speakers, K20p/9Tp does not.
The K20pro / 9Tpro has FM radio, OP7 does not.
I believe the OP7 has OIS on the main camera, K20pro/9Tpro does not.
The OP7 has a (small) notch in the screen. The K20pro/9Tpro has a popup front facing camera.
K20pro/9Tpro has a somewhat bigger battery.
For me personally, the popup cam is not a problem because I don't use face-unlock or take selfies, and having a full notch-less display is very nice.
I imagine that if you're the kind of person that uses the front facing camera a lot, the popup camera becomes annoying pretty fast. (but I don't know because I'm not that person)
FM radio is a feature I really like to have, but I'm probably alone in that one.

Thanks mate for your detailed comparison .
I don't use face-unlock and selfies like you. So it 'll not be any issue for me. Though I don't like Pop-Up camera. But I really like stereo speakers.
BTW, how's the battery life of K20 pro ?
OP7 has almost no development - unlike the K 20 Pro.
But I really don't like the bootloader unlocking procedure of Xiaomi. It's really annoying (really)to me.
Would you throw some lights on the multi-media experiences of K20 Pro - 3.5 mm audio quality, watching video/movie experience etc.? Really it's very important to me.
Which one would be better for multi-media between these two ?
Thank you once again for your reply.
K20 Pro has a HiFi DAC built-in. It's 24 bits / 192 KHz.
So it has the ability to play High Definition audio.
You don't really need to unlock the bootloader unless you really need root for something or actually want to change ROMs.
I used the Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot tool to disable apps that I don't use. MIUI isn't that bad, for now at least.
I was confused about that last few days, finally bought k20 pro, for 3.5 mm audio jack and price difference. audio, movies and camera are great.

I am probably not the best judge. I don't have an OP7, have only used this device (European 9Tpro) for under 2 weeks now and my previous phone was almost 5 years old. To me, watching video on the notch-less OLED and listening through simple wired earphones is very good.
Battery life is good. In normal day to day use when I'm not traveling, I can charge it every 2 days. In heavy use it will still last a full day easy. I have everything on all the time (wifi, sync, location, bluetooth, ambient display).
I plan to keep mine stock and locked for at least the first month, but yes from what I read on these forums, unlocking and flashing is more cumbersome and has more pitfalls than I'm used to from HTC devices.
My previous phone was OP7.
k20pro 256gb + 27watt charger costs less than Op7. So price wise this is a win.
Face unlock is a breeze in Op7. Miss that comfort on k20 pro. Though always on fingerprint is good & serves the purpose.
4000 mah battery & miui battery management works wonders. Always end up with 30+ at the end of the day. On Op7, it would be about less than 20% by the end of the day.
Oxygen os is really clean. But it lacks serious customisation. Miui is eyecandy & won't get boring. This is probably the only factor for me to switch from op7.
Also, since op7 was just a minor upgrade from 6T, better to wait for Op7t (with 90hz).
But beware of your purchase now, the price of K20PRO will see drop Faster than op7 in very short period of time. (Already price cut of Rs 2000 announced in India (flipkart))
U should also check the asus rog 2 if u are not bothered by large bezels

Thanks for sharing the most important feature - audio quality of K20 Pro.
What's your feedback about the headphone audio quality of K20 Pro?
Is it really awesome or average ?
I like to use rooted device. And that's why I don't like Xiaomi for their bootloader unlocking policy.
Appreciate your ADB/Fastboot procedure for deblauting.
BTW, I had some bad experiences with RN7 Pro - MTP incompatibility. My Windows PC can't recognized RN7 Pro and can't install the drivers. And finally I'd to sale RN7 Pro due to this issue. Is there any MTP/ Driver issue with K20 Pro ?
:good:
if op7 has no notch i would have gotten it to try this oxygen os ,coming from pocophone which is mine spare phone now ,glad i dont to face with a notch all day , to me op7 just look like a 6t , by the way i have no issue connecting mine pc (win 7) to k20 pro
Yes, i really am enjoying the k20 pro. Yesterday, the android 10 OTA was received. So that also is covered.
And miui 11 is on the way by end of the year.
Btw, if u are looking for Op7T for the 90hz display, K20PRO can also reach around 80hz thru mods. Both are 1080 oled panels.
On a related note, asus rog 2 has got some Insane specs for a sweet price (128/8 ) Rs 38k.
K20pro is going to be sold for less then 24999 during the sale season... That's a huge price drop for such a new device and it's cheating for those who bought this device from the start.....

Nope Max drop will be ₹3500 if you are taking into account the initial ₹2000 into account. Even in current sale a minimum card discount is going to be there for atleast ₹1500. As a loyalist I feel that companies should atleast hold onto their prices for 6 months man. If you ever want to resell your device within this timefram now you will face a huge challenge trying to resell. Not that I would be doing that. Its about percieved difference of going from Base bottom Budget Brand to a Premium Brand... They went back to being a budget only Brand with this move. Thats really Bad. I would gladly buy their Premium range of Phones of the Mi Series(I owned a MI3 and Mi5) But they don't release them here in India anymore..
If a Brand wants to induce a loyalty in its customer base they should be prepared to be loyal in return. This doesnt feel like loyalty..

Mi 8 to Mi note 10, is it worth to change?

Hello guys,
My question is, is it worth to change my Mi 8 with Mi note 10? Camera performance is what interesting me, not overall performance. I'm not a gamer....
Hello. I jad also Mi8. Now i bought the Mi10 (I know its not the Mi Noten10) and i give it the Mi8 to my girlfriend. After 10 days im not so happy with my Mi10. Ok, fast, beautiful screen, relatively good camera. But, its big(Mi8 was greatin my hand),and heavy. I would like to go backnto my Mi8, but my girlfriend dont want to give me back ?. Thats my personal opinion. But,its mist be your personal decision.

I considered getting it myself. But after researching the phone it less less bands than the mi8 and mi9, ( not including the 5 G bands of course)
In regard to the camera, watch this complet video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFtdc8Fj1Wg and you will see that the Note 10 actually competes fairly well against the Mi10. personally, i have decided to stick with the Mi8 for a while until i have a better idea of What I would want to upgrade to. I am also considering the OnePlus 7T or OnePlus 8.
if you are interested i made a spreadsheet with the differences between phones and radio bands.
As an owner of both devices, all i can say is stick to mi8.
Here are few reasons why:
1) in-hand feel and size.
Note 10 is just to hefty and thick. Mi8 is much more enjoyable to handle.
2) Curved screen - so unpleasant to use, so easy to brake.
3) Very slow fingerprint reader.
4) SD730 is not flagship level
5) Camera has great IQ but photo processing and camera handling is slow and nonresponsive.
Of course, there are some benefits of mi note 10, better battery and more versatile camera setup, but for me mi8 is still better option with a smaller size, ir face unlock, classic fingerprint and more powerful cpu.

I have both phones and can tell you: Stay with your Mi 8. Even if the camera is way better in Mi Note 10 it has many bugs. And you can really feel the Snapdragon 730G. Image processing is slow, apps aren't loading as fast....
Go with Mi 10. I think it gives you everything.

Can this phone still be considered in upcoming sale of flipkart.

I have thinking about buying this phone and the price is being dropped to 23k.
So according to all of the users that have been using this device is it still viable option or i should skip this now.
I Like flashing roms and modding so this phone ticks that box aswell.
So wondering if someone could share their experiences so that i can decide if to buy it or not.
23k what ? I haven't seen this phone on sale (as new) for months. I even saw one used on amazon at more than 400 € while I paid mine less than 300 mid octobre last year. I recently bought a Mi Note 10 Pro but I prefer my 9T Pro (it's faster, and has no cut in the screen). I've flashed several ROMs (Syberia, cdDroid) but had problems with Camera apps. Now, I have both phones using the latest xiomi.eu beta (and there's nothing else for the Mi Note 10).

Is "k" a currency ? I wouldn't never buy a phone at 23000 €, even not a car. Maybe I have to guess your country and where you expect to buy a phone which seems to have disappeared months ago. The phone is cold and battery lasts long (especially when not used).

23K will be Indian INR - Also FlipKart is an Indian online retailer, so there's a hint there.
Just had a look and that's coming in at around $305 US.
Probably not much difference in price to what you could get it for, last year, on AliExpress.
On one side, it's not much of a sale discount, considering it's over a year old.
But on the other side, there's been a bit of a price hike all across the board this year, so it's a better phone than all the mid range SD7xx phones that are available now, for around the same price.
If you can stretch to a bit more money, the Poco F2 Pro should be a better option. But if 23K is about your limit, This phone, will probably be the best available for that price.
Battery life and performance are very good, with not a great deal of heat under heavy load.
Its still great phone for 23-24k Rs price range SD 855 , 6GB Ram , 128GB storage .. no notch display with hdr and good cameras (can be made better via gcam mods) and great redmi has release kernel sources so you have custom os and rom development .

Poco F2 Pro isn't available in India and in current pandemic situation with India China dispute Buying anything from AliExpress doesn't make sense.
my budget is 25000 max and at 25k i also have Realme X3 which might have better camera(Though I don't care for camera's) and a 120hz ips panel with 855+ chipset but the development situation for Realme devices is bad so i won't choose that one and also it doesn't has a 3.5mm jack.

Its still great phone for 23-24k Rs price range SD 855 , 6GB Ram , 128GB storage .. no notch display with hdr and good cameras (can be made better via gcam mods) and great redmi has release kernel sources so you have custom os and rom development .

K means Kilo = 1000 everywhere (not just in India and not only 1000 Rupias):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilo-
Still, it can be Kilo grams, Kilo meters, Kilo bytes, Kilo Rupias, Kilo Euros, etc.
Hence the price "23K" without a currency is meaningless - in India it would mean 23000 Rupias, in Europe 23000 Euros, in US 23000 Dollars
Since this is international forum, nobody should guess that the poster was from India and that 23K meant for him 23000 Rupias (not Canadian Dollars or 23000 in any other currency)

i will mention the prices in full currency next time on..
But i have seen some review stating that the device gets heated up very fast and the metal frame and screen becomes too hot to touch or use..
Also Miui 12 Indian stable update has ruined the phone as much as i have seen the reviews.
So was skeptical if this phone will at least last me 1-1.5 year without any issue from now on if i buy it.

as far as i know there are no heating issues with this device
since i have K20 (not K20 pro) i haven't seen any issues in that device
and talking about MIUI 12, even i didn't liked that they made it exactly like iPhone. Only thing i didn't like about MIUI 12 is notification center else everything is fine
and custom roms are always there
and if you have ICICI or City bank card then you will get the phone for around 20,700 and for that price i think that steal deal
its almost at same price segment as poco f1 was
BTW even i am planing to but this at 6th aug

Ok thanks for your response now i am sure to buy this one on sale.
23k INR will be a good value for this phone. I bought it for 32k BDT (around 350 USD) and price has been same now after dropping somewhere to 30k. Worth mentioning it's not manufactured anymore so will be unavailable any time.
For the comparison with Realme X3, amoled is superior over lcd on phones anytime, regardless of refreshrate.

Hey, I recently bought the K20 Pro ( almost 2 weeks ago) and I am more than delighted with it...
I did pre-order the Oneplus Nord but I that the phone was overhyped and not worth it.... The other competition is Realme X3 but that phone doesn't have much ROM support... So no..
I just love this phone.... The built quality is more that Awesome.. and the pop up camera is more sturdy than I expected.. I got it for ₹2 25k.. And for that price it's the best in class according to me..
It does get warn...( As all phones do ) but I don't think that's a problem..
I did compare it with POCO X2 of my friend and I found its camera wayy better.... This phone's main camera is kinda average.... But I feel it's just the best deal you can get...
Also don't even think that this phone is an year old and all that stuff.... It's still the best. I personally believe that one year old flagship killer with good support are the best....
Previously I had Lenovo Z2 Plus with SD820...( for ₹1 13000 for a new one) and that was my life..
I hope that after reading this you too will become a member of our community....
The only ? thing is MIUI... And I am sure you will change that.... ..

Same here, just bought a few days ago for 24000 INR. It is the best bang for the buck. The only other competitors are Realme X3 which has LCD screen and no dev support, and the Nord which looks uglier imo and is a plastic build, with slower processor. The only upside for it is the 90Hz screen, but the K20 pro does go upto 72 Hz, so its not that of a big deal. Only downside is the camera, my old Mi A2 felt better (GCam in both). Especially, the selfie camera is very bad in a few indoor conditions. But even the Nord has the same main camera sensor, so there's that.
I think you should go for it.

I really like the miui with all the bells and whistles it brings like floating window (helps a lot for my gaming), icon animations, hassle-free theme support etc.
Rom is personal taste and choice, ofc.
