I officially surrender. My minotePro is NUTS. Help? - Xiaomi Mi Note Pro

It all started a while back, while I had Miui 7.5. After one year working perfectly, it suddenly started bootlooping.
Well, I tried everything. Factory reset, full wipes, mi flash, flashing xiaomi.eu, flashing en.miui, stable roms, developer roms, buying a new battery and replacing it, installing by OTG with full wipes.. absolutely EVERYTHING.
And after having done so many things, my phone DID come back to life with only one rom: leo_images_5.9.17_20150826.0000.7_5.0_cn_b8ece3aeb3
Now, why on Earth would it work perfectly with that one, (I don't like it and I would love to change it), and it doesn't work with the newest stable or developer one, global, xiaomi.eu, 6.12.22. LineageOS....
With all of those, when I flash them just like I flash the one that works (with twrp 2.8.6), it either shows the MI logo forever or it restarts every 10 seconds.
Does anyone have any idea?? Thanks!!!!

Do you still have that ROM? I need it to try solving a NO SERVICE issue

Yes you can't install other rom just try to download the newest from their page

Random reboots

Hello,
there are many people suffering from random reboots on mi5. is there a guide to get rid of those?
i bought a new mi5 which already restarted during the first setup. those reboots continued to happen randomly while using the phone. sometimes it isnt occuring for half a day and then it happens 3 times in a row.
there is something hat makes me think it is not a hardware issue. when the phone is in the bootloader or when i install a new rom through fastboot, the phone has never rebooted.
i have tried so many different roms (Resurrection, lineage os, different versions of miui) and they all have that reboot issue. some of them seemed to work better than others, especially with custom kernels like the dragon kernel it happened way less, but still several times a day.
is there something i can flash that is going to stop this rebooting?
when i got the phone the bootloader was already unlocked. i could find any information about that... i thought it might be due to the fact that it had an english miui installed. but is it always like that or are all mi5 shipped with a locked bootloader?
greetings!
Hi
I think maybe something wrong with hardware..also IMO.. if you're bought the new mi5, it should has a locked bootloader, no matter what miui rom version installed..bootloader should be at locked state if that's a real new mi5.
okay thanks thats good to know!
i havent really understod what the different firmwares are for. do they change the baseband version? is there anything else they do? can you recommend me stable firmwares or will they not change anything?

Ofcourse..different version of the rom it can be has different firmware/ bootloader too..it depending what the android version and the rom it self.
From my experiences trying some custom and official rom, the best until now for stable daily used what i needed is xiaomi.eu rom that's until now currently using it..it's miui rom that's still based from official miui china rom that are already optimized for global used. You can try used official global miui rom with more language already added but different from xiaomi.eu is official global to much google apps that i don't really needed it for my daily used, that's why i'm still using xiaomi.eu rom.
Had the same problem
Hello, I had the exact same problem as you on MIUI global 8.1.4.0 with locked bootloader. It didn't happen that often, but I think it has to do something with the RAM, if its completely full, the phone will reboot. I fixed this by installing the xiaomi.eu ROM, you always have like 1+GB free RAM with that ROM. As your phone is already unlocked, it is very easy to install a different ROM. I hope this helped you

Return to Global Stock ROM + original recovery

I own a Chinese 128 gb Mi8 that I've bought from a local retailer as converted to Global and it came unlocked bootloader.
I've installed TWRP, rooted, flashed several ROMs, everything was fine, but the time came to hand it over to my wife and planning to return completely back to Stock, including the orginal recovery.
For me the best experience for a normal user is the stock Global ROM, with working official updates.
I plan to eliminate TWRP to come back to stock recovery, but because I don't know which reason it is permanently installed.
Tried several methods, but none of them made it including MiFlash tool, that for me just flashes the fastboot ROM in 1s and stops, than nothing changed.
Any idea how can I do the full stock return?
All I can say is be very careful because what you're trying to do is how people end up hard bricking their chinese MI 8s.
Keep twrp and just flash xiaomi.eu stable release....same user experience or better as stock. It's like stock minus bloatware/spyware processes and region locks.
Face unlock and theme store will work out of the box, no need to mess around with region settings.
I know, but in Xiaomi.EU there are some applications, games that do not work. Currently I am on Xiaomi.EU developer versions, but it seems that after each update I have format everything as using the ROM updater doesn't install the updates. And I am sick of back-up, restores, bla bla.
So there is no solution for returning completely stock?

Issue with calls after Android 10 update

I posted this in the Q&A thread but it looks pretty dead, I can delete that if needed but hoping to get some help on this one.
I had an Android 10 update this morning, and ever since the person on the other end cannot hear me at all. No way to fix, reset etc.
I don't think I can roll back right? My only solution might be to unlock BL and flash custom, because I cannot wait for a patch to fix this.
Anyone have this same issues? Is there an alternative to going custom? If I do go custom what is the closest to stock that actually fixes this?
This sounds like the problem I have been having since December with still no permanent fix. A temporary fix is to turn on the loudspeaker and then back off and the other caller can hear you. Seems the bug will never get fixed after waiting 3 months now for a fix now.
I decided to use a custom Rom (Ion OS is what I'm using, but any AOSP Rom will do), which fixes the issue altogether. Or you could downgrade back to MIUI 10, which I can confirm it also fixes the call audio issue. So, yes you'll need to unlock the bootloader. I tried other MIUI Roms like Mi-globe, Xiaomi.EU, and ROS-MIUI, and all give the same issue. Well, the ones that's base on android 10 give the call audio issue, the ones based on android 9 don't.
Ok I fixed this yesterday on my own, here's what I did:
1) Back everything up that i needed, then unlocked the BL.
2) booted into TWRP, then flashed TWRP, then flashed the disable verity zip
3) Tried a few ROMs, all had the same issue, and other issues
4) Finally downloaded a ROM I "built" from mi-global, https://mi-globe.com/miui-firmware-rom-builder/
5) Once the ROM was built (I included Magisk, removed some bloatware etc), I flashed it, I intentionally used about a month old build since the the current stock one is what borked me. Mic problem still evident.
6) So finally I removed the modem.img file from the ROM zip and went into fastboot and manually flashed the modem image, rebooted, and that fixed it.
No matter what you have to be BL unlocked to flash files in fastboot, but I think just flashing the older modem.img would have fixed it, but I am better for it because now i have a stock android 10 ROM with bloat removed, and root permissions.

I might have to give that a try then. Glad you have yours working, hope that's the problem I'm having too with the modem.img.
Edit: Tried your steps, but what I get is complete silence now on both ends of a call. Used a modem from the 11.0.6.0.PEAMIXM (android 9) stable build.
Tried V11.0.3.0.QEAMIXM (android 10) firmware and it just brings back the buzzing/static muffled sounds. Shame I can't find why I can't use MIUI 11 without getting this issue.

The problem went away after updating to a MIUI 11 build a month later, can't remember which one. Ever since then, the mic problem hasn't come back and had no problems with MIUI 12.
I'm now using Evolution X 5.3 since the Mi 8 stop getting MIUI updates. Now the only time the mic problem comes back is is when I flash ZenX OS ROM, none of there builds work for me. I don't know why, I just decided that my phone hates what ever setting or config that's in the ROM. From the maintainer's view, I missed up something on my phone, yet other custom and MIUI ROMs work fine.
Back to your question, I didn't find a solution to the problem, it just went away after an update. Now ZenX OS is the only ROM that brings back the problem. Plan to try their A11 build when it comes out, if the problem is still there I'll just move back to Evolution X. Are you using the latest MIUI 12 build? Global stable or xiaomi.eu beta?
Thanks for

Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Issues - Rebooting and Crashing

For 3 or 4 months the phone worked great. Could play hours any kind of game with no issues. Then all of a sudden the phone begun to reboot randomly 3, 4 or 5 times straight for no reason. Would even reboot while in my pocket. Another frecuent issue is apps crashing. All the apps and extensions frequently crash (facebook, instagrame, Chrome, Gboard, Mi apps) might be those I am using as well as the ones I am not. Another issue is that it won't install updates, the system downloads them but fails to install, I had to use fastboot option.
I tried wiping the phone to factory, installing EU ROM, Global ROM, Changing to MIUI 12. When wiping the phone I even tried installing apps manually to see if there was a particular one messing with the phone.
NOTHING WORKS!!!
Do not know what else to do... I am about to throw the phone a buy a new one... planning to move out of Xioami...:crying:
ANY IDEAS???

Have you tried formatting (completely different to wiping) data partition before you've flashed any of these roms.
A few things 1st though, just to confirm anyways
Is your bootloader unlocked? Also you have stated you have tried eu rom, is this the xiaomi.eu custom rom you are referring to and if so what type of custom recovery do you have.
Based on my experience with my previous phones, frequent random reboot would only mean:
1) Your battery is bad
2) Flash storage is bad
3) Chip gone bad (CPU, IC, probably anything)
No amount of reset, flash would fix this issue. You need to bring the phone to the service center. Usually they'll change the whole motherboard or battery depending on the issue.
You can try to flash any AOSP rom and see if still having those issues.

I used Mi Unlock to unlock the bootloader, and yes the roms I used were official ones. I tried downloading the OTA and the Recovery files but can't install those. The Phone starts installing and at 7 or 8% is stops and reboots. So in order to install the different roms I downloaded Mi flash and used the fastboot files. Installing the roms through Mi flash from my computer into the phone does get me to the end of the installation.
How would the formatting work?

Use custom recovery like TWRP or orangefox. Backup your data to any external drive, then boot into recovery and use format data option. Also, as someone stated above, try aosp roms as well.

Installing aosp-based ROMs on Mi 8(Question)

Hey guys, I've had my mi 8 for a year now and got bored of miui so I wanted to try something aosp like on it. I proceeded to unlocking the BL, downloading ROMs and gapps. The problem is...gapps don't get installed whenever I go into twrp and flash them it's like they don't exist even though the prompt on twrp says everything's fine. Am I doing something wrong? I would really like some guidance on which rom to choose first and then which steps to follow so I can resolve this issue.
