[A400CG] Stuck in Asus logo, Can't open Droidboot, etc. - Asus Zenfone 4

So yeah, as the title suggests, my Asus Zenfone 4 (A400CG) is bricked.
Short summary of what happened:
While my phone was in Android 4.4.4 Kitkat, I decided to root it. Then when I got my new phone I was like "Idc what happens to my Zenfone 4". So I updgraded its firmware to 5.0.1(?) Lollipop. It worked for a few weeks then suddenly it won't boot anymore when I shut it down. (Btw, the lollipop is an official firmware. NOT a custom rom)
Here's what happens:
If I hold down the power button = Stuck in Asus logo
If I hold down power + vol up = Droidboot logo (The green android with a yellow hardhat) (I was able to get past this before but not it's just stuck like that)
If I hold down power + vol down = Stuck in Asus logo
If I charge the device to an outlet = Battery charging logo but with no animation
If I plug it in to my laptop = Doesn't detect it and it's the same as charging the device
I really don't have high hopes that this will be fixed since I've viewed similar problems but with no reply. But who knows? Maybe a good samaritan may save this phone's soul

Same as me. I couldn't flash the phone because droidboot is stuck at the image and my pc doesn't detect the phone. I found someone on youtube commentator says follow the link instructions but it's too complex to understand how to install ASUS USB driver while my pc itself won't detect it. Someone also says it's the emmc issue. Someone help it's really worth now can't find anywhere for the answers. Thank you :crying:

Yeah it kinda sucks that all the tutorials I've seen have detectable devices, but none for non-detected devices. I'd still wait for a fix but I just wish this phone had more developers. BUT since it is x86 based, there's nothing much to do at this point. :crying:

for your devices to be detected by the PC or laptop. you need to install the drivers properly before installing xfstk downloader. and look for the debrick files for zenfone 4 only. for A400cg as specifically. other A400xx makes thing complicated. and when installing Intel IsocUSB driver you need to READ the notifications the installer says. AND RESTART YOU COMPUTER BEFORE FLASHING after installing all softwares and drivers you will be using. and remeber not all files you download works for your device as to some worked for them. so BE PATIENT and BESURE TO HAVE A GOOD INTERNET CONNECTION when downloading files or you'll just end up a fail and exhausted.

[Q] Help me pls.. I think I've really bricked my P990

Hi all kind bros and sis,
Please help me out as I think I've really bricked my less than 2 months brand new Optimus 2X..
You see.. I rooted my P990 using unlock root and chanced upon CM7 and thought of giving it a try. I installed clockworkmod and downloaded the stable release of 7.1 for Optimus 2x.. following the instruction to do a Nandroid backup and proceeded with the Mod..
Not knowing that I need to wipe everything including data.. I just selected the Dalvik cache wipe and proceed with the mod. The process went for more than 15mins and I saw some graphics (the android figure going round and round) but it just stuck there... the screen went blank and when I touched those home or back buttons.. they will lighted but nothing happens. I can't power it off also. So I manually took out the battery and put it back before powering up again. The android picture appeared again briefly for about 1 min and just hanged there. I took out the battery again and this time it was dead.. no matter what I press : vol + and power buttons together; home+Vol+ + power down; Vol- + power down.. all those do not revive the phone.
I tried taking out the external SD card and try powering up. The LG logo appeared and got stuck there.
I searched on Google and found the smartflashtool. I tried that and managed to install the NVidia boot recovery driver and stuff correct. Hold the vol+ button and power key before plugging in but the smarttool did not find the com port or communication driver whatever so I couldn't flash it back to stock.
I'm very desperate and stuck now... did I just accidentally burned the board or something? What bad luck I have
If that's the case, will I still be able to bring the phone back to LG service centre and get it repaired?
Please help me.. any kind souls out there. I really liked the phone and hoped to bring it back. else it's such a shortlived phone... really breaks my heart to see this..
Thanks in advance...

Try using SmartFlashTool, download the LG stock ROM (can be found here in XDA forum, i'll help you find the link), flash the .bin and .fls files.

Turn off the phone. Hold Vol-DOWN while plugging it in. Start Smartflash and see the com-ports magically appear.
Follow trymhansen's instructions. He helped me before with my softbricked phone.
I hope you get your O2X back to life! Keep us posted
Best of luck to you!
PS. I also believe you should pull out the battery after turning off the phone in Trym's instructions. Trym correct me if I'm wrong please.
Hi All,
Thanks for your kind replies. I did follow your instruction. Take out the battery (I removed the ext SDcard as well), press and hold -vol and plug in the phone via USB. Afterwhich start up smartflash tool.. still nothing happens and no com ports are found.. The version of smartflashtool that I used is Dec 2010. Do I need to get the latest one and also the LG united drivers installed?
I also tried starting smartflash tool before the sequence.. still the same. BTW.. my OS is Win 7. Is it supported?
Really at my end's wit. Hope I can bring my phone back to life soon and I'm not really bricking it. I heard Samsung phones are not that easy to brick and can get to the recovery mode pretty easily. is it true?
Please help me.. thanks
Hi bros,
Attached are my screenshots from the device manager and smartflash tool... both seems not able to find the phone and allocate a com port. I've tried installing the latest LG mobile driver 3.6 but no help as well
Have you followed instructions as described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008070 ?
Also, try to attach your phone directly to computer, using usb ports from computer mainboard. I have experienced problems when attaching it via extension usb cord or attaching it to computer case ports. (I hope that you can understand what I have mean to say with usb )
Hi Memhis,
Yes.. I followed exactly the instructions from the thread and I've plugged into a USB port directly to the computer which is one of the ports in front.. not via any extension or USB hub.. still it did not detect.
I'll try to use another computer which is running Win XP and try again. I've downloaded those 3 files from that thread you recommended try using those instead.. hope it can be detected this time else I think I'll have to send to LG service for repair tomorrow.
I've been jailbreaking and modding my Iphone a lot and everytime whenever there's a near brick situation.. I'm able to fix it but not this time with an Android or LG perhaps... I hope I don't have to go to the extend of using ADB low level to push some files which I saw in one of the thread that one of the guys did that.. but I doubt I can since my windows can't even detect the phone!!
Maybe this will be my first and last LG phone if I ever get it repaired...

launch smartflashtool first, extract the .fls and .bin files, hold down volume at the same time plug in the usb port to your comp. you must see a s/w updating logo in your phone's screen and smartflash should detect your phone. then click start!

Hi mrgian,
I just tried to revive my phone by using the same method on a different laptop running on Win XP.. plugged directly to a side USB port but still no luck. There's no s/w updating logo appearing on my phone and smartflashtool also failed to detect my phone. I've found another thread opened by another user and my situation is exactly the same as his :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161583
But lucky for him is that he's able to get it working after changing to another PC but I've tried 3 different machines and no luck so far...
I'll try to use the NVflash as a last resort and see if I've any luck with NVflash at all.. If it failed again.. I think I've no choice but to send it to the repair centre for servicing then..

Yes.. I've installed the latest LG united mobile driver version 3.6. Any wrong with that version... Really don't know where / what is missing or my phone is really fried after just one mod attempt?
I've also tried NVflash and it's stuck at the "bootloader initialization" screen....
Nothing appeared on the phone... not even LG logo. Can't believe LG phones are so fragile and unmodifiable

try to charge the battery first...power off your device and charge it...maybe leave it charging for about 1hr even if you dont see anything on the screen( i believe after plugin the charger you will see the charging logo but it will disapear after a few seconds)...after 1 hr unplug and try to check if it will boot to clockwork recovery...if yes then just do complete data wipe...also try installing the ext3 back.zip, it will help delete system files(sometimes CWR is not deleting this)...hope this help

When you say an USB port in the front do you mean an USB in the back? Because the ones in front are the case ones, the ones in the back are the good ones, i.e. the ones that are directly attached to the mobo.

How to enter CWM? I can't even power up the phone and no reaction at all when plugged into USB via smartflash.. the screen remains black. It's liked the whole phone is burned or something... but strange thing is that it can detect APX and asked to install drivers... but after successfully installing the Nvidia boot recovery driver.. the com ports does not get discovered.. What is wrong?

Btw.. where can I get this ext3 back.zip and how to use it? thanks

[Q] Have I managed to HARD-BRICK my phone?

Switched from one provider to another, got a new phone which uses micro-sim, and couldnt get the p880 to read the new sim card, so I have been using the new phone, which is greatly inferior to the p880..
With the p880 just sitting around unused, i decided i might as well try to mod it, then get a regular sim card for it and start using it again. I think i killed it instead.
Before it died on me, I formatted / wiped / factory reset and then used the LG Mobile Support tool to upgrade to whatever the newest official release was.. 4.1.2??
At this point, here is what it can do:
1) When attempting to just turn it on and USE it as normal, it turns on, gets to the animated LG logo and stays there forever.
2) Power + Vol Down = OEM LG recovery menu
3) Power + Vol Up = Some kind of Restore graphic
4) Power + Vol Up and Down (AVX) = nothing
5) Plugged into USB with battery removed and holding Vol Down = home row LEDs light up, nothing else
Windows sees the phone as a "removable disk H:" when I plug it in, but the LG recovery software does not see it, and it also does not show up in the device manager..
At this point, all that I can seem to access is the "apply update from ADB" option to do an "adb sideload" command in recovery mode.. When I send over the root tool, the phone is happy. If I attempt to send anything else over via sideload, I always get kicked out of the process when it gets to the "verifying installation package" portion. I can wipe / factory reset to my heart's content, but I can get absolutely no further than this after attempting for about six hours yesterday.
Any hope for me or do i have a dope looking paperweight? Will providing you guys either the IMEI or S/N shed any light into a path to recovery?
Thanks for your time!
You have a booting rom, the device is not even close to hard brick. Is your bootloader unlocked? If yes you can flash a custom recovery with fastboot and install any rom you want.

thank you, speady.. it turned out to be the first solution that you suggested, which i had seen before during my scouring of these forums.. but the real basis of my problem was that i had my phone plugged into the front-facing USB port of my computer rather than the one directly connected to the motherboard (on the back).. i guess the phone wasnt getting enough juice out of the front port to boot to S/W Update mode.. i am back to stock LG software and am eventually going to mod to another ROM

[Q] HELP! Unable to power on X2 - totally no response after using Nokia Care Suite

Hi all,
I (foolishly) attempted to update to 2.1.0.11 on my X2 after installing Google Play services using the Nokia X2 Tools. (Later on, I found that it was not possible yet.)
After restarting, the phone hung at the flickering Nokia logo during startup.
So I attempted to recover using NCS and RM-1013 NDT EURO RU rom and followed instructions as per this tutorial
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2668005
However, the first time, I got this message:
"Initialising WinUSB with device handle. The parameter is incorrect."
After that, the phone is now completely bricked.
It cannot power on, removing and inserting the battery does not work.
It will not enter download mode again, either.
If plugged into USB, the phone does not power on nor display any charging animation. However, checking shows that there is a QHSUSB device.
However, any further attempts to flash with NCS result in same message.
Can anyone help? I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Hi!
Nope. I don't know why. I followed the flashing instructions to the letter but after seeing the message that was when the phone died.
I've removed and put back the battery almost 50 times now.
The phone doesn't respond to any button press, it doesn't even power on to charge when USB charger is plugged in.
Hoping for help from all you experts...
If not then I have the first real brick on my hands, in so many years of tinkering with Android phones...

I did meet the same situation like you do today.
1. please try to set up a new usb connection via NOKIA FUSE.
2. and then get back to Product support tool for store 5, choose new usb connection and keep recovering. IT WORKS.
3. i was just lucky for making mine reborn, hope
Yes, nokia care suite really works. I had almost bricked my nokia xl while flashing a custom rom & ncs brought my phone back. Just keep trying, it will get your phone back.

Could you please describe how? in details if possible. Please. Because the same thing happened to my phone, Nokia X2 (RM-1013) and I am really sad about it. I tried the FUSE and it got me nowhere. To remind you again, my phone is completely dead, no screen light, no vibration while trying to switch on, nothing. Can't get into recovery or fast boot and my PC cant detect my phone, showing 'Unknown Device' in device manager. I am using a traditional USB cable. Please help me

Hi,
Great news!!! I finally got the solution. Have you heard of Infinity Best? Look it up, I am not able to paste link here as it might go against XDA rules, just google it. They have an 'Emergency Driver'. Just install it, your PC will recognize your phone in no time. Then you can use the recovery option in Nokia Care Suite to recover your Nokia X2.

Xperia T - Bricked?

Hi guys,
I have an old Xperia T which was in the middle of being flashed with a 4.3 based firmware but there was a problem with the install. I didn't care too much at the time because i already had a new phone, but now I'm trying to get it working again as a possible backup.
My problem with it now is that when i switch it on, it will display the Sony logo and then the screen goes black, apparently freezing. I have tried to charge it overnight but the light always stays red, never goes green. When i try to connect via my laptop (Windows 8.1) i can't get the laptop to read the phone, the USB will bring up the red light on the phone and the phone will even boot to the Sony logo but then....well, nothing. I have also tried booting into recovery but again nothing.
I'm not expecting a wonder fix, i think the phone is maybe bricked but at the same time i haven't the most knowledge on these matters. I have Googled various sites that have similar problems with different models and each one seems to be fixed with the Sony PC Companion - but like i said, my laptop doesn't even recognise there's a device plugged in.
If anyone has any suggestions it'd be appreciated, but like i said, i don't expect to find a cure, just hoping i can say i haven't bricked a phone like a n00b
Thanks for your time
Dude ... relax.
If the phone still shows the SONY logo, nothing is lost.
Step 1: Download Flashtool: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
Step 2: Download an appropriate Firmware in the FTF format from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2648320
Step 3: Ensure the driver for the phone is installed and works correctly.
Step 5: In Flashtool, select the lightning "Flash device", then Flashmode. Select your folder where you store the Firmware.
Step 6: Click the flash button and turn off your phone. If you connect it via USB to your PC, press immediately POWER + VOLUME DOWN. The notification LED turns green and the flash process begins.

Bricked N7P

Hey, guys. I've had my phone bricked for about half a year now and was wondering if you could help me out finding a solution.
So, the brick happened after trying to install Resurrection Remix on it and a reboot after that basically lobotomized the phone. Since you can still see the Android One logo but only though a flash light and it cannot go brother into fastboot mode or into recovery. There's no RR boot logo or vibration at the Android One logo.
I've included a video of how it looks like.
Any ideas what I should try?

No luck there. I've tried to get something out of it but it never gets anything on the PC at that stage when it was alive as well.
I am wondering if it's just a problem with the motherboard but maybe it's some kind of power delivery issue because there is no light coming from the screen.
